The Baker's Daughter always has a warm and inviting atmosphere as soon as you enter. The people are friendly and the service at the counter is excellent. They have a good selection of food and coffees that isn't too overwhelming but also makes you want to return to try more. The absolute highlight of this place is the bread. The way the bread is prepared and baked is unique-- which leads to such rich flavors and textures. As a result, their food tastes delicious because the bread contributes so much to the meal. This time around, I had the chicken sandwich. It was delicious. Their coffee is also very good. This is one of my favorite places to visit every time I come to Simi Valley. The two downsides: for two sandwiches (although high quality), it was really expensive. The Baker's Daughters is the cutest little brunch coffee shop and bakery I've been to in awhile. And it's in Simi Valley, what?! I love that Simi is getting some quality trendy little spots to dine because this coffee shop is everything! The Bakers Daughter has clearly become a local favorite and we anticipated a wait if we didn't get there early. We lucked out because we didn't roll in until 11am yet we're able to snag a table. This spot gets busy and they only have so many seats as it is small, so I would recommend coming early or on a weekday if you want to ensure you can find somewhere to sit. The decor is fresh and clean. Very comfortable yet trendy vibes with lots of wood and an open concept that you can see all of the bread in the racks and the cooks in the back prepping. The service was fantastic despite how busy they were. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, with smiles on their faces. Totally 5 star feel good vibes here. You order at the counter and they bring your drinks and food to your table. Nice and easy. They definitely hustle here though because our food came out relatively quickly but was all fresh and made to order as the breads were warm and the veggie components chilled. Food & Drinks are a 10/10. For drinks we ordered the rosemary iced latte and a limeade. I kid you not, the limeade was one of the best sips I've had in awhile. I didn't know it could be so refreshing and wasn't overly sweet. Also appreciated that it wasn't pulpy. The rosemary latte was subtle in flavor but tasty. For food we ordered the avocado toast and the breakfast egg sandwich. Both were A+ and heavenly. Presentation is also gorgeous and Instagram worthy. First time here. I got the croaq monsiour and it was lovely but only barely warm. The service was horrific. Only one guy waiting tables. He was rushed and didn't even acknowledge my presence until he took care of everyone else. I had the only order in with the cook and it took 20 min to toast a sandwich?? Then when my to go order was up it was sitting on the table while two workers were engrossed in a conversation. I had to stand up in their peripheral vision to get their attention. I've enjoyed visiting The Baker's Daughter since they opened, but unfortunately, I've noticed a drop in quality over the past six months. I usually order the avocado tartine, and while their sourdough is typically excellent, theres something inconsistent about their other dishes. Especially the Avocado Tartine. In the past, it used to be bright green, and the flavors were all very apparent. Now it tastes old like avocado that's been sitting out for too long that appears browned, or the toppings like pumpkin seeds, onion, and radish are sparse. The bread thickness also varies--thin one day, quite thick the next. Today's experience was also less welcoming than usual. The cashiers used to be very friendly, but now they seem a bit overwhelmed. The cashier helping me didn't offer a greeting or thank you, which felt uncharacteristic of the place. I had hoped to order lunch, but since I arrived at 10:45 a.m., I was told I couldn't place a lunch order until 11. So, I defaulted to my usual breakfast order and quickly left to get coffee elsewhere, as I've stopped ordering coffee here due to frequent unavailability of the Vietnamese coffee ingredients. When I returned to pick up my order, the same cashier handed it over without any pleasantries. Unfortunately, when I got home, I found the toast was charred, which I found pretty unreasonable, especially for a $15 item. We all work hard for our money, and while I know they're an artisanal business, putting out less-than-top-quality food at this price point is disappointing. I wish I'd checked before leaving, but being in a rush, I didn't realize until I got home, where the burnt taste was all too apparent. **updated: I called the store today and the rude woman cashier indicated that they do not have refrigerators and therefore the chocolate mouse I had bought at 2 pm had been out since the morning delivery. I asked why they would sell an item that they knew was supposed to be kept refrigerated that had been left unrefrigerated for 7-8 hours. She told me I could follow up in 5 days if I had not got my refund so I asked for her name so I could indicate I spoke to her. She refused to give her name. She also said she is not authorized to make refunds so I wonder why she told me she would refund the money if she couldn't. I asked for the manager at that point and she made some exasperated noises and loudly said to the manager "she is mad" -very poor customer service. I asked the manager why I was sold 3 day old bread and told it was fresh and he said they always sell day old bread and I said it this is 3 days old. He offered a refund. I asked why they sold me chocolate mouse that was not refrigerated and he said every four hours they put the items back in the refrigerator to cool them off and I asked why they resell them after "cooling them back up" when it's been out over four hours- it's spoiled. He said the health dept said it's fine. He said they keep a log about how long their items that should be refrigerated need to be put back in the refrigerator and he checked the log and my item was supposed to be back in at 12 and I bought it at 2. He admitted I was sold spoiled product. I only had two bites before I realized there was something very wrong with it and I was sick that evening. This is unacceptable. The manager claimed "it's fine, the health dept doesn't have a problem with it" my advice is to stay away from this restaurant. They clearly do not know what they are doing and are selling spoiled foods that they know are spoiled. The manager also indicated they close at 3 so if I buy food at 2 pm I would have to assume it's no longer good. Really?! I appreciated his honesty but to have a restaurant knowing selling foods that will cause people to get sick is illegal. We bought some pastries and bread. We spent over 30 dollars on one cookie, one piece of banana bread and stale hard as a rock chocolate mini cake thing and a chocolate mouse tart that seems like it was supposed to be refrigerated but wasn't so it was a melted mess. The sourdough was 11.50. I was told to grab it off the shelf near the counter when many loaves were behind the counter that looked fresher. The clerk said they were all the same. I got home and saw the date was 3 days ago. So I paid 11.50 for 3 day old bread? I plan to call tomorrow and speak to someone about getting a refund. The food was not edible and we bought it around 2 Which is an hour before closing. I had wanted to try the place for a while and now I regret doing so. read more

Such a great find! Our GPS sent us past Costco, so it took awhile to find. It's located in the Marriott hotel shopping center. Clean, country feel, with tables for two and then larger, community style, tables. Seating for inside and outside. Employees were welcoming and friendly. You order at the counter (menus are available and drinks are written on the wall) and they bring your food to your table. The best croissant that I've had in a long time! Fresh out of the oven, crispy outside, soft inside. My son ordered the All in one plate- two scrambled eggs, avocado, bacon, and fresh sourdough toast, and a Vietnamese Latte. We finally got the opportunity to try out Bakers Daughters after being told about it and seeing it on social media and let me tell you I was glad to be there. Happy friendly staff in a flavorful aroma of freshly baked bread welcomes you for your order featuring freshly baked cakes, croissants, scones, cookies and bread. Their sandwiches are so good assembled on their house made breads can't be beat. Great place for coffee and pastries as well. Love the fact that it is a working bakery in the background while you dine at the front of the store. This is a great place for breakfast and lunch as well as a local bakery making fresh breads daily and offering a variety of French, sourdough, buttermilk and other breads depending on the day. Not only will I return for more of their delicious sandwiches and baked goods alongside a freshly made coffee but I will be back for some of that fresh bread when I am cooking at home. This bakers place us one if my top favorite bakery in San Fernando County. First of all, the costumer service is very welcoming which all the staff are super friendly and helpful. The food is amazing I like their chicken sandwich and all their selection fresh bakery. They also have good coffee and other fresh drinks. Their patio has a good space for seating outdoors. Ordered the orange bun based on the staff's recommendation. I was hesitant at first because I like fresh orange but not so much in pastries. To my surprise, it was flaky, sweet but not too sweet and the orange wasn't overpowering. I also ordered their lavender latte after learning they made the lavender syrup in house. My husband had the Buttermilk Breakfast Sandwich - buttermilk bread, eggs, cheese, chopped bacon, avocado, green onions and sweet mayo ($14.00). The pastries looked really good. They advertise "vegan options" but when we got to the counter, I asked what vegan meals they offered since the menu did not list them. The gentleman replied: "well, I think it's avocado toast only". The ambiance was very cute though and it had good seating inside and out. In all fairness we only order 2 of the "All in one plate" and one "buttermilk breakfast sandwich " (not pictured), so maybe other dishes would be better. The sweet jam and sour/pickled vegetables would have likely balanced a little better with savory pork, however the pork was so dry, all you could taste was the sweet and sour. It would be kind of like sticking sweet and sour pork from a Panda Express in between focaccia bread; except imagine the pork as dry and shredded.
