Updating my original review under "Judy S" from back in March... I have now been doing bar method at least five times a week most weeks for the past 6 months. I feel stronger than ever, and am having so much fun in the process. Julie and her crew are not content to simply maintain what is already a very successful business, but they are constantly adding creative challenges (this month it's a "bingo" game of different activities), new workout formats (just when you think you'd mastered everything, they come up with a new class that kicks your butt!), new instructors, and of course new retail, so that every visit to the studio brings something novel. Next month there will even be a book club! I get bored of most types of exercise, but I have never felt bored in the over 150 classes I've already taken since I joined 6 months ago. Thank you bar method for helping me regain the muscle and flexibility that I had lost over years of neglecting myself after my two kids were born. This is not only a place to exercise, but a place to enjoy community and a sanctuary from the demands of our busy daily lives... Finally, when they say that bar booties are a bit higher than others they aren't kidding - I've enjoyed watching my body transform along with those of the friends I've made along the way. A couple months ago I gave barre a try and Now I'm addicted! I've always wanted to find an exercise that was safe for my back and was something that was fun to do. Although I had never done barre before, I wasn't intimidated and I didn't feel out of place. Instead I immediately felt like an important part of the family. Barre has done wonders for my health overall. I feel physically stronger, I'm seeing results in my muscle definition, my back no longer aches and I walk out of each class feeling like I'm powerful and able to take on the world. I've been a member since October 2021- what prompted me was my desire to get back into being active post-pandemic. There's great availability for someone like me who works in the city, and I am a fan of the 6 pm and 6:30 classes. I enjoy Ashlee and Monica's classes - they typically teach the evening classes and I feel envigorated from these classes! I love the science and the safety that behind the Bar Method and appreciate that this is a type of exercise that I can keep doing for life. Over the course of 6 years, I've tried many different studios, but this is the first time that I've felt so strongly about any studio and decided to join! I started classes 3 weeks ago and it is amazing! So hard and so good! There's lots of class times and the teachers are great.

They got me at "hello". Initially i was won over by the owner answering the phone and all of my questions. They are very upfront and straightforward with pricing and you will find no gimmicks here. The work outs, staff and coaches are all top notch. Having worked out at other places i love how even though there are group classes you get individualized attention and there is a lot of emphasis on form which i did not experience elsewhere. Great workout! I love how I was able to try out the classes with an unlimited package for a month at a discounted price. The studio is super clean and very new, and the staff and instructors are very good at what they do. I would definitely recommend men trying, I worked out muscles I never even knew I had! I can't say enough positive things about bar method. I started attending classes in October 2021. I hit 100 classes just before the holiday season last year. I can't begin to explain how beneficial this has been for both my physical and mental health. The classes are accessible, doable for anyone, everything can be modified. I have a back injury, and I am typically not flexible. I go 6 to 7 days a week now, it is the only exercise I have ever looked forward to doing and I enjoy every minute of it. It is both challenging and rewarding without being ingratiating or intimidating. Highly recommended! I tried this place out about a year ago and then really started consistently going in after I had my baby. I had some pretty bad diastasis recti (abdominal separation) due to my pregnancy, and this workout along with these incredible, knowledgeable instructors helped heal my ab separation in about 3 months. The first thing the instructors and owner, Julie, asked me when I came back in for the workout was if I had any injuries or concerns. When I told them about my diastasis recti, they took that information and customized their cues that they gave me during the workout, ensuring that I got the most out of the workout while protecting and HEALING my body. I feel strong and confident thanks to these ladies. Try them out! Even if you don't have any injuries, this workout will shape your body like no other and the instructors won't let you get away with anything less than a killer PRODUCTIVE workout. If I'd have to comment on "the Bar Method" in one phrase, I'd say: definitely not boring. To say more, I am so happy I found this place. Barre is my speed, my rhythm, ability to work all muscle groups staying graceful. don't take it wrong, it's not easy. I've been coming for eight months and it still hurts every time, but muscle pain is your friend and results are very much visible. Clayton valley studio is very nicely made and maintained. squeaky clean, well ventilated. Never once I felt any unpleasant smell, while people sweat there a lot (sorry for such detail, but it's important for me). Every instructor is just amazing. Your safety and health benefits are their priority. They watch your every move and correct as needed. they manage to keep workout fun and rewarding. Studio also has child care and even though I don't need it anymore, it's great to see young mothers to be able to take care of themselves. I appreciate every session and hope to be able to make it my lifelong activity. read more

I'm echoing many other reviews, but this place truly is fabulous. Julie, the owner, has cultivated a welcoming, supportive, and fun community. I can't think of another fitness based space that puts so much work into getting clients engaged AFTER they've signed up for the monthly membership. There is always a fun challenge happening that encourages you to come to as many classes as you can. The childcare is wonderful and my kiddo is always happy after class. The instructors are all fantastic and take the time to give positive feedback and constructive corrections. They're encouraging but not overbearing - I truly appreciate how they offer many options and techniques so anyone on any level still has an entry point into the exercise. The instructors are wonderful. I never thought I would want to go to an exercise class at 6am, but Hilary made it so fun that I forgot how early it was! Renee gives great feedback and is so thoughtful, Briana has the music down to a science, Michelle does an amazing flow class that kicks butt, Mona and Cassandra really encourage you to challenge yourself, Monica is so fun and energetic, and Julie leads everyone! The instructors visit each other's classes and are always giving and receiving feedback, and you can tell they are always learning and pushing themselves to improve too. I had a difficult relationship with my body for a while, and the Bar Method Clayton Valley has helped me re-establish a positive and strong exercise regimen. I joined the studio in March and absolutely love it. Every class is different which keeps things interesting and I always look forward to going. I love the bar method workout! This studio is warm, welcoming and exactly what the "Claycord" area needed. If you live in this area, you no longer need to head over the hill to Walnut Creek for this fabulously strenuous, yet fun, workout. The Clayton Valley studio is nice and new. I danced as a kid and as an adult so have some dance background, but you don't need it to be successful at barre. I'm in my 50's now and have thyroid disease and arthritis that have made working out very painful. I was very out of shape (pandemic didn't help!), and just knew I had to do something to help myself. The first few bar method classes kicked my butt. Though it is low impact, don't be fooled because it is very strenuous and works your body from head to toe. Julie and Ashlee are WONDERFUL teachers. They know what they're doing, provide positive feedback and corrections so you don't hurt yourself, and they're both salt-of-the-earth people. Always upbeat, happy to see everyone, and bring a lot of energy to every class. The community of students is wonderful too, everyone is very supportive of one another. And, there are students from all ages and backgrounds, but mostly women in my experience. My only regret is that I didn't start sooner because I'm finally feeling stronger and healthier than I have in years. Feeling better is very motivating.
