Originally sat at a high top table in the bar and were ignored for 10 mins while others that came after us were served. Ended up sitting at the bar and waited 20 minutes to order. Then we waited 30 minutes for our food.. our pasta came out 5 minutes BEFORE our appetizer. The couple next to us waited 30 minutes for a pizza that was wrong and then another 20 minutes for the right pizza. Food was average at best - pasta was cold and brusceta was raw. We were only asked ONCE if we wanted another drink. Totally missed out on opportunities for additional drink orders. Overall sub-par experience. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

I absolutely love this cute cozy little local bar. Annette is absolutely one of the best bartenders out there. She is always so friendly and has a welcoming smile on her face. Todd has such a great personality. Working in the service industry you don't always have the easiest customers, especially ones that have been drinking. You can see an adult turn into a toddler in .02 seconds. I really don't like to Yelp because most people go on yelp just to complain about not getting their way. Been by this place a handful of times now. It is a small bar, but nice to look at. Has an outside seating area with a view of a Starbucks, a fountain, and a parking lot. I prefer the bar, nice lighting and a cool framed fireplace thingy. I need to find me one of those on ebay, they're pretty neat! One of the times on a Saturday I caught some live music by a RnB/Funk band that caught my interest. They were playing some awesome 90's RnB that brought me back to my high school days. That was the only time I have noticed live music at this place though unfortunately. On one occasion the bartenders had an ipod on and it played the same song 3 times within a 20 minute period. Pretty annoying, the management should keep their eye on that. They have fresh mixers/juices to go with their drinks, and many of them are very tasty. They also have a decent beer menu and a lot of local wines. Now the bad...0 consistency on drink making. My wife gets the same habanero martini every time we go and every time it is made differently. Everything from having 0 spice to the perfect amount, having a sugar rim once to a spicy rim another time. The bartenders really need to get on the same page with the menu and ingredients. It's just one of those inconveniences that is so simple to fix, but still puts a bad taste in my mouth. The bartenders are hit and miss as well. We enjoyed talking to the bar back girl more than the bartender on an occasion....so there's that.. I live a block away so I will be back. Hopefully the service makes some improvements and they have more live music on the weekends. Even a good 2 hour long playlist might make this place earn another star. read more

Anette has been completely rude every time we have been in this bar. One night, we came in at 10 and she told us she was closed cause it was slow, they were clearly open until 11 and she turned us away. Another night she walks up to our table & says she needs our chair, we were waiting on a friend and she completely questioned us as to why we need the chair. She's rude and unpleasant, we love to come to this bar and we love the food, but she is horrible and needs some help in the customer service department. Chelsea on the other hand is a gem! Once again, against my better judgement, I find myself here. Today I ordered the sausage and pepper sandwich. Again a total disappointment. Sausage was over cooked and only on half the sandwich the last three bits were strictly bread and peppers. I also ordered the meat and marinara sauces on the side. The meat sauce was oily and taste more like a school cafeteria sloppy joe than an Italian meat sauce. The marinara taste a suspiciously a lot like straight form the can tomato sauce. I later found out that the "chef" used the wrong sauce and put the pizza sauce instead. This "sauce" shouldn't be on their pizzas either. Yet another disappoint here. I am now going to check in here to get the free cannoli. I expect to be let down a second time today, from a free item. read more

With that being said I've had different experiences. To begin the bar shares a pizza restaurant next door, hence the name bar next door so the food can be pretty great and they have a separate menu for the bar as well. Now the bar menu is pretty decent how we it's a tad bit overpriced for the amount of food you get and the flavor is not that impressive. It's delicious but it's not the best in the world. Now the drinks on the other hand.... This is why I keep coming back. The well is stocked up with premium liqueurs and spirits. So a gin and tonic is Bombay and tonic. This would normally cost you about $8-10 depending on the place but not here. *again I had a friend who worked here so that could have just been a friendly upgrade. Besides that the selection of alcohol is top notch and their specialty drinks or signature cocktails-which ever name you prefer-are spectacular. My personal favorite is the Blood Orange Margarita. It is truly out of this world. So if you're looking for something creative and delicious, come get a drink here. This is why I say 5 out of 5 for drinks. As for the service like I said it has varied. Of course I got well taken care of while my friend hosted bar. However the other times I was either disappointed or pleasantly taken care of. It's been a 50/50 with the service. Nothing terrible has happened, but nothing to exceptional has happened either besides the time my friend took care of us. I think a personal relationship with the rest of the bar staff is needed in order to be taken well care of so for now 3 out of 5. read more

Oyster night is Friday and Saturdays. I am here on a Friday night and Victor made an unbelievable ceviche. I come from a high appreciation and understanding of ceviche and Victor is able to grasp my attention and respect for a good ceviche. I wish the portion size was bigger but the flavor is all there. Amazing and thank you Victor for your personality to intrigue me enough to pursue this amazing meal. I am only halfway to making my way through this environment and beverage selection but Victor has already been a prominent component to this establishment to make me want to return. This place is like the regal beagle of temecula! It's nice going to neighborhood bar where you don't always have to go to old town or wine country to get a good drink. Me and my husband went on a Sunday night and I've never seen a bar so packed in temecula before, felt like we were back in hermosa. Kate was our bartender and she and her drinks were great. They also have happy hour on sundays which is rare to find. I've had it bookmarked on Yelp for months now but never knew where it was. Their sign is on the door and it's right next to the pizza place spuntino (hence the name the bar next door)in the barons shopping center. Drinks are reasonably priced and they even have temecula wines if your feeling that too. Hidden gem of a bar, we will be back. read more

We were 1 of 2 couples at the bar so there would be no reason not to engage in a conversation. They had very little personality and it felt like we were in a morgue. Bartender Mike 1 star Credit Card Charges - fraud Mike is not friendly, very rude, in fact, lacks customer service. Now to the good part. I had two drinks paid on a credit card was charged $28 and change - my bank alerted me when a $78 dollar amount was taken from my account. This guy Mike like to add a little extra for himself. Apparently the bar likes changing a $5 dollar tip into $50.00 BUYER BEWARE AT THIS PLACE. My only suggestion is to pay cash. This place is always my go to when I have friends in town or if I want to escape old town. Very modern and clean, and their restaurant next door is really good, too. I usually recommend my customers to come here during the week because I've always received good service and drinks - the bartender loves to experiment and will create something on the spot that's fantastic. It is a bit pricey but I always have a nice time so it's worth it to me. However it's in an odd spot (middle distance between the wine country and the freeway) and in a residential area. read more

The bar is mellow and the bartenders are cute and have good skills, however the food sucks, dont ever order the sausage and pepper sandwich with meat sauce or marinara. The marinara sauce is tastes like tomatoes from a can, and the meat sauce is manwich, there was 7 little pieces of sausage on the whole thing and smothered with peppers. So basically I ordered a semi vegetarian sandwich. I will not be coming back as much as a like the bartenders, the constant disappointment has lossed my business. read more

This is a nice, quiet, dark, bar with TV's behind the bar that are turned down low . The type of place you can go and hang out with friends and actually have a conversation. The pizza by the slice is yummy and a fantastic value. When they have a soup of the day, other than the same old pasta fagioli, it's usually great. I look forward to their specials because they're usually a real treat. It's a fun place to sit outside with a group, you get the best of both worlds. The Bar Next Door has a great variety of drinks, wine and beer. Spuntinos, which is next door to The Bar Next Door offers food, ( joined by a common hallway and bathroom; same owners). I didn't give it 5 stars because of a couple little things that could be improved. Keep gas in the heat lamps outside, the several occasions I've been there they haven't worked. Have a special everyday, the specials are awesome. Along with the specials offer a special soup of the day. I say this about the specials because I've been amazed at them. This is a really great hidden place! A bar attached to a 'pizza shop' made me wonder if this was going to be worthwhile, but I was amazed at how cool this place was. Ambiance is nice and the vibe is awesome. My wife and I were one of a handful there at 5:30 on a Saturday, but by 6:30 the place was packed. Food was outstanding, including all that passed us by heading to others. Their Lemoncello Drop was fantastic, my wife loved the Cucumber Collins and the Piazza, plus they had a great draft beer lineup. A few misses did occur during our visit though. My wife ordered a slice of Margherita pizza. In most of the US and Italy that means tomato slices and basil to be expected. What she got was a traditional cheese slice. It does say under the whole pizza description that it is a 'cheese' pizza, but we did not see it as we ordered from the slice section. I was told that this is how they do it in Sicily, where the owner is from. I have to say though that it was the best cheese pizza I ever had, so no points off here. I would suggest they change the name as I could tell the bartender gets a comment on this often and there is no reason to put customer on tilt right out of the gate. The bigger issue I had is none of the bartenders knew how to make a Vespa, which is on their featured cocktail list. The new guy had no idea and the description only mentions it is an Italian version using Ciroc vodka, which I assume is the Italian part because that vodka is made with grapes. A Vespa is traditionally vodka, gin, and Lillet Blanc. I was told by Justin that here it was Grappa, vermouth, and vodka. I balked, but later Justin corrected himself saying the Lillet was correct and not the vermouth. Sounded good now, but what I got tasted horrible. I asked what he had used and he shows me 'well vodka' and not the Ciroc advertised. I pointed this out and honestly felt he should have fixed it or at least comped it. He did not apologize or really say anything and just went on to other customers. This was worth knocking off a star in my rating. Not knowing ingredients in a drink is one thing, giving me well vodka for a $10 cocktail is horrible, but it was the lack of fixing the issue when I brought it to his attention that was my lasting impression. I will be back though. I liked everything else about this place. read more
