Many online have talked about The Barn, and there were also a couple of YouTubers, so on a day when we don't know what to have for lunch, we came here. Their specials menu is pretty darn cheap, but unfortunately the beef rib noodle soup was taken off just a couple of weeks ago. The decor is fairly hip for a noodle spot. My recollection is this used to be a skewer and beer spot, but added comfort food items to the menu to draw a steady flow of people. We tried a few on the Specials menu. Egg fried rice with chicken came out within a few minutes, and it was pretty good. Didn't have that wok flavor but still delicious. The beef cold noodles wasn't bad. It's usually served with shredded chicken so this is something new. We chose thin noodles, but hindsight should have picked and pulled noodles for a better texture. The spicy braised beef noodle soup had a lot more flavor. It was mildly spicy and with the knife cut noodles. It was a great combo. The beef however, could've been more tender, and they could've been just a bit more generous with it. But overall, it was a pretty tasty meal. Service was fine. Nothing spectacular, but no faults either. We got our food rather quickly and anything else we needed. Note: When you ask for the check, they'll just come by with a card reader and tell you the total, no breakdown or paper bill. So do a mental calculation so you'll know you're being charged the correct amount. Parking shouldn't be an issue because this shared with a huge shopping plaza. read more

We used to come here quite often because we really liked the pork dish and the stir-fried vegetables. When the restaurant first opened, it seemed like not many people knew about it yet, so it was never very busy. We always thought the food was very good, and it seemed like the restaurant simply hadn't been discovered by many people yet. However, things changed quickly. The restaurant started putting up large banners near the entrance advertising heavily discounted noodle dishes, and suddenly a lot more people started coming in. As a result, the service became much worse, and we could no longer get the same level of service we used to receive. Then we were very disappointed to discover that the dishes we loved--the pork dish and stir-fried vegetables--had been removed from the menu. So we ended up ordering a noodle dish that we didn't really want. We couldn't exactly just walk out without ordering anything. The sad part is that we originally gave this restaurant a 5-star review because we genuinely loved the food, especially the dishes we used to order. Hefty portion sizes and a good deal! The all day specials for certain items are either $10.99 and $12.99 and so worth the money. There were also other things on the main menu which I didn't really look at. I came for lunch on Friday and it got super busy around 12:30pm, even with a short wait! I got the tomato and egg knife cut noodles. It was a little salty but sooo good. The noodles were well-textured and cooked well. It's a windowed kitchen and you can see the chefs making the noodles in the back! The only huge major downside was there was no AC inside while it's 98 degrees out?? Don't know if it was broken or they just have no AC but it was SO hot, so that on top of noodle soup felt like heat exhaustion. Service was okay. Parking is readily available since it's in a large strip center. Most of the staff speaks Mandarin only and a few speak English. Being a third-generation American born Chinese, I had no issues communicating in English only - although I thought the staff could be friendlier in the dining room. As for the food the noodles were freshly made to order and I could actually see the chefs preparing the entrees. I tried the Beef Bone Biang Biang with round noodles, cucumber salad, pan fried buns and beef noodle soup. Overall, the entrees were solid with flavor and authentic tasting although, I was disappointed with the beef noodle soup since the protein portion was small, although the soup and flat noodles were yummy. And the noodles are genuinely delicious. They are hand pulled and served with amazing numbing sauces. I loved the spicy beef noodle with triangle noodles. The noodles are chewy and absorb the broth so well and the shank meat is quite tender. The cold noodles are great especially during the summer; tad vinegary and tad sweet. The beef rib dried noodle was also delicious. The meat was tender and they gave you scissors to cut the meat easier. Just heard this place's business has been changed into Lan Zhou noodles restaurant, they are working on promotion and a signature Lan Zhou noodle is $10.99. Gave a try at today's crazy 100 degrees temperature at lunch hours. They have many signature choices, I ordered their first signature Lan Zhou noodle, Yakitoi beef skewers, a plum juice drink. Taste of noodle soup is fantastic, flat noodle is good, but meat portion is very limited, for the price of their promotion, I am okay with it. Skewers are very delicious. The main reason for the two star rating was the service, I was trying to ask for a small bowl but the server completely ignored us. After 5 minutes they gave tossed us a small bowl, leaving us completely baffled and thinking they didn't hear us. I believed it's because we spoke English even though we are Asian.
