    Nebraska Angus Choice Ribeye

I used to be a regular at Mokkoji before it changed ownership and became Shabubu. Overall, it's definitely pricier compared to Mokkoji. The owner mentioned they want to focus on serving only top-quality meat, which shows in the menu. I ordered: * Nebraska Angus Choice Ribeye ($28) * Canada USDA Prime Ribeye ($38) Both came as a combo with your choice of soup base, a veggie set, and ponzu and sesame dipping sauces. You can definitely taste the difference between the Angus and the prime beef. All the meat is sliced fresh upon order, which I appreciated. The veggie set portion is a bit on the smaller side, though. The restaurant is clean, and the tables are spaced out nicely. The vents can be a little noisy, but that's pretty normal for shabu spots. There's also plenty of parking in the plaza.

I can't stop thinking about the premium meat and sukiyaki broth as well as sauces at Shabubu. The broths and sauces were so flavorful. The meat was so delicious and premium. This a good place to come with family and friends or for a solo dinner/lunch. Service was so attentive and helpful. The interior is slick, spacious and clean.

We find this newly opened Shabu-shabu place by my place, so we decided to stop by. This place is located in a plaza that has a lot of parking spot. Parking is not an issue. We ordered combo A (nabraska angus choice ribeye), combo F (Japan Miyazaki A5 Wagyu ribeye), and a side of glass noodle. The combo comes with a variety of vegetable. We each get our individual hot pot and broth. The meat was not as good as I expected. For example, the $98 A5 Wagyu ribeye was decent, but I expected more with the price I paid for. The combo A ribeye tasted like regular beef for Chinese hot pot. The extra glass noodle we ordered turns out to be $1-2 Chinese vermicelli from the supermarket instead of the Japanese glass noodle. This is a bit disappointing. Server was friendly and attentive, that deserved 2 stars.

We recently noticed this new hot pot restaurant and decided to give it a try. Food-wise, the hot pot was fairly average, nothing particularly memorable, but not bad either. However, what really disappointed us was the service experience. When we walked in, the restaurant was quite empty. We politely asked if we could sit at a table toward the back, but were told it wasn't allowed. So we were seated at the very first table near the entrance, right next to the meat-slicing station. The slicing machine was extremely loud, making it difficult for us to have a proper conversation during our meal. Later on, we noticed a group of influencers (or social media personalities) coming in to dine, and they were seated in the back area without any issue. That contrast made the difference in treatment feel quite obvious. I truly believe every guest should be treated equally. Hospitality shouldn't depend on someone's social media presence or influence. Unfortunately, the inconsistency in service felt unprofessional, and for that reason, I wouldn't personally recommend this place. I hope the restaurant can improve and provide a more consistent experience for all customers.

New SGV Restaurant Alert Just opened last week, Arcadia welcomes a new restaurant called Shabubu specializing in Shabu Shabu of course with premium slices of Wagyu and other high end cuts of meat along with a fresh selection of seafood. You can pick among 6 different made from scratch soup broths and each set comes with a variety of vegetables , tofu and glass noodles. If you love marbling, this is definitely for you. If you are afraid of fat, just look away or maybe just enjoy their seafood items. This new spot opens everyday except for Wednesday and you can get 20% off from 11am-2pm. If you have bougie taste and appreciate Wagyu and other premium meats without putting a dent in your wallet, consider Shabubu when you are in Arcadia, CA.

This is a new hot pot that took over another hot pot place. I think they kinda of redid the interior with new tables and chairs. The menu is pretty simple and they have a variety of meats to choose from. My friend and I opted for the pork belly and Canadian beef. I enjoyed both and had no complaints whatsoever. I felt like this was your typical shabu shabu with great quality meats. I'd say this is on the pricier side. However, I do judge a place based on how good their goma sauce is and this place passed the test! I'm hoping to be back soon!

I've been on the hunt for a solid shabu-shabu spot in the area, and Shabubu absolutely knocked it out of the park. The first thing that blew me away was their homemade broths -- you can taste the hours of slow simmering in every sip. No artificial MSG overload, just deep, rich, layered flavors that elevate every bite of meat and veggies. We went with the chicken, kombu, and a spicy miso option, and all were so good we were sipping the broth straight from the bowl by the end of the meal. The ingredients are next-level fresh, too. The premium Wagyu was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with that perfect marbling that just melts in the hot broth. All the seafood and veggies were crisp, vibrant, and tasted like they were picked that morning -- no sad, wilted produce here. It's clear the team prioritizes quality over quantity, and that's exactly what you want for shabu-shabu.

If you're looking for hot pot spot with high-quality cuts, Shabubu is a must-visit. The menu focuses on curated Shabu Shabu sets that come with a vegetable set and their signature homemade sesame and ponzu dipping sauces. The Soup Bases: We tried two very different but equally delicious broths: * Spicy Miso: This had a great kick without being overwhelming, providing a rich, savory depth that paired perfectly with the beef. * Hotate Chicken: This was a standout: delicate, clean, and full of umami. It really allowed the natural flavors of the premium meats to shine through. The Meat Selection: The quality of the proteins here is exceptional. We sampled a variety of tiers: * Japan Kagoshima A5 Wagyu: The absolute star of the show. The marbling was incredible, and it literally melted in the mouth. It's worth the splurge for the buttery texture alone. * SRF Wagyu Beef Tongue: Thinly sliced and perfectly tender with that signature slightly snappy texture. It soaked up the Hotate Chicken broth beautifully. * Japan Sakura Pork Belly: Very fresh and sweet. It wasn't overly fatty, offering a nice balance to the richer Wagyu cuts. * Nebraska Angus Choice Ribeye: A solid, reliable classic. Even as the most "standard" option we ordered, the meat was high-quality, lean, and very satisfying. The ambiance was perfect, and the service was phenomenal; they even drained the oil from my soup in the middle of the meal and continued to pour me soup refills! Can't wait to visit again soon!!

Came for dinner since they had a deal going on. Easy parking + friendly service. Broth was okay. The veggies, noodle, and meat portion were a little small.

    Pretty h.

At first I thought this place would be expensive -- the meat looks like $28 per plate. Turns out it's actually about $28 for a full set, which is a really good deal. You get meat, veggies, and sides, and the quality is solid. They have Miyazaki Wagyu and Sakura pork, and the marbling looks great. Everything tasted fresh and tender. Honestly, better value than I expected. I'd come back again.

Found a gem in Arcadia for a high-quality shabu shabu experience! Shabubu offers a really clean, modern atmosphere that's perfect for a date or a nice dinner. I was impressed by the meat selection. We tried the Japan Kagoshima A5 Wagyu ($78) and it literally melted in our mouths--the marbling was incredible. If you want a bit of everything, the 'H' combo (USDA Prime Ribeye & Kagoshima A5) is a great value at $58. Also, don't sleep on the SRF Wagyu Beef Tongue; it's sliced perfectly and has a great snap. The soup bases are solid--the Tonkotsu and Hotate Chicken are rich and flavorful. Each set comes with a generous veggie platter and their homemade sesame and ponzu dipping sauces are the real deal. A bit on the pricier side, but the quality of the A5 makes it worth every penny. Definitely coming back!

They offer premium and prime options for their AYCE hot pot. Their prime menu was $52.95 and offered 9 different soup bases, 17 meat options, self serve bar filled with veggies, noodles and meat balls, drink stations and ice cream. I got the split pot with sukiyaki and jelly golden chicken broth. The sukiyaki was slightly sweet and full of umami flavor. The jelly golden chicken was flavorful and comforting. You can tell they boil down chicken bones from the chicken fat in the soup. They have 3 meats on the prime menu that were wagyu. All 3 were super tender and required little to no chewing. The abalone were massive and firm yet tender. We got the shrimp paste as well which was flavorful and filled with chunks of shrimp. The veggies were fresh and I enjoyed the variety. My favorites were the crown daisy, spinach, enoki mushrooms and Napa. They even have the sweet potato wide rice noodles that are slimy and chewy. Not a lot of AYCE places have it so it's a rare find. The staff here speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English so ordering was not an issue. They have a small lot in the back with about a dozen spots which wasn't an issue on the week day.

The owner was really nice, she helped us take a pic and also took a pic for the photo wall in the back. I had split sukiayki and the mala spicy soup, both good. I also tried the tonkatsu, it was tasty. Meat took some time to come out but seafood is very fresh. The shrimp and mussel from the premium menu is very fresh. The drinks and ice cream are included. I love thrifty ice cream, with Rite Aid gone, I savor every chance I get to have Coconut Pineapple ice cream. I had the canned Herbal Tea and Milk tea, both are very good. The herbal tea was sweet, almost like dates. I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.
