Very solid shabu spot out in Arcadia. Big fan of the beef tongue and wagyu cuts! Their house ponzu is exceptional with fresh spicy radish and garlic. Please note this place is not AYCE. For folks who want shabu but can't do AYCE, shabubu is the spot! The a5 wagyu is sliced to order and you can even see it through the window! Service is exceptional with the owner taking care of the group i went with. Even came with complimentary passion fruit juice! Plenty of seating for big groups

This shabu restaurant did not disappoint! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. The restaurant was clean, and the service was excellent. The servers were attentive and checked on us throughout our meal to make sure we had everything we needed, which made the experience even better. If you're looking for a great shabu spot in the San Gabriel Valley, I highly recommend giving this place a try!

This place was fantastic! You can watch them slice the meat fresh right behind the glass, which was really cool to see. The Wagyu was beautifully marbled and incredibly tender. The sukiyaki broth was rich and flavorful, and all of the vegetables and seafood were fresh. The sesame dipping sauce was so good that I kept going back for more. Great service, clean restaurant, and delicious food from start to finish. Definitely a 5-star experience, and I'll be back!

Tried Shabubu in Arcadia and really enjoyed it. We ordered the Hotate Chicken broth for the soup base, and it was really good -- flavorful but not too heavy or salty. It actually got even better after cooking all the meat and vegetables in it. For the meat, we tried the Wagyu beef, beef tongue, USDA Prime ribeye, plus the seafood platter. The Wagyu was definitely my favorite. Really nice marbling, super tender, and you only need to cook it for a few seconds. The Prime ribeye was also very good and had a nice beef flavor. Beef tongue had a different texture but was surprisingly good in hot pot. I also liked that the vegetable set comes with a good mix of veggies, tofu, corn and noodles, so you really get a complete meal. If you're into shabu shabu and like trying different quality cuts of beef instead of just AYCE, this place is worth checking out. I would come back again, especially for the Wagyu and Hotate Chicken broth.

Solid spot for hot pot. They have different broths like chicken and scallop which I really liked if you're looking for a healthy option. (Leave the chicken bone in for a sweeter soup) I thought it was good but quite pricey but they do give you a lot of meat.

    Prime ribeye - great!

The meat is super fresh and delicious and the portions are filling! The ponzu sauce was delicious, I really like that I'm pretty sure it's housemade! The vegetables and toppings were a good amount too. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is the spicy miso broth wasn't great. The primary flavor was tangy, and it lacked balance in flavors.

I used to be a regular at Mokkoji before it changed ownership and became Shabubu. Overall, it's definitely pricier compared to Mokkoji. The owner mentioned they want to focus on serving only top-quality meat, which shows in the menu. I ordered: * Nebraska Angus Choice Ribeye ($28) * Canada USDA Prime Ribeye ($38) Both came as a combo with your choice of soup base, a veggie set, and ponzu and sesame dipping sauces. You can definitely taste the difference between the Angus and the prime beef. All the meat is sliced fresh upon order, which I appreciated. The veggie set portion is a bit on the smaller side, though. The restaurant is clean, and the tables are spaced out nicely. The vents can be a little noisy, but that's pretty normal for shabu spots. There's also plenty of parking in the plaza.

I have been wanting to try this spot and finally I came with my coworkers for dinner after work. We really love that we each got our individual hotpots. It allowed us to choose different soup bases based on our preferences. I personally am a big fan of Tonkotsu so I ordered it as my soup base that tasted very rich and full of flavor. The server also provided us with passion fruit drinks as our welcome drinks and a tray full of veggies and udon noodles each to mix to our soup. We decided to order several trays of meats: Ribeyes, Wagyu Beef Tongue, Pork Belly, Wagyu Ribeye, and Seafood Platter. You can see them cutting the meat fresh near the front of the store. Each tray comes in 10-15pieces of meats so perfect for sharing. We were also given some house seasonings/sauce to dip the meat. At the end of our meal, they also gave us vanilla/green tea ice cream as appetizer. Overall, i really liked this place as they were able to accomodate our group to sit together with our individual hotpots.

Shabubu is a great shabu spot in Arcadia! Loved the beef tongue and A5 wagyu, which is sliced fresh to order. Their house ponzu with spicy radish and garlic is also excellent. This is not AYCE, which is actually a nice option if you want quality shabu without the all-you-can-eat format. Service was fantastic--the owner was very attentive and even brought us complimentary passion fruit juice. Plenty of seating for larger groups too. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area!

We find this newly opened Shabu-shabu place by my place, so we decided to stop by. This place is located in a plaza that has a lot of parking spot. Parking is not an issue. We ordered combo A (nabraska angus choice ribeye), combo F (Japan Miyazaki A5 Wagyu ribeye), and a side of glass noodle. The combo comes with a variety of vegetable. We each get our individual hot pot and broth. The meat was not as good as I expected. For example, the $98 A5 Wagyu ribeye was decent, but I expected more with the price I paid for. The combo A ribeye tasted like regular beef for Chinese hot pot. The extra glass noodle we ordered turns out to be $1-2 Chinese vermicelli from the supermarket instead of the Japanese glass noodle. This is a bit disappointing. Server was friendly and attentive, that deserved 2 stars.

I can't stop thinking about the premium meat and sukiyaki broth as well as sauces at Shabubu. The broths and sauces were so flavorful. The meat was so delicious and premium. This a good place to come with family and friends or for a solo dinner/lunch. Service was so attentive and helpful. The interior is slick, spacious and clean.

New SGV Restaurant Alert Just opened last week, Arcadia welcomes a new restaurant called Shabubu specializing in Shabu Shabu of course with premium slices of Wagyu and other high end cuts of meat along with a fresh selection of seafood. You can pick among 6 different made from scratch soup broths and each set comes with a variety of vegetables , tofu and glass noodles. If you love marbling, this is definitely for you. If you are afraid of fat, just look away or maybe just enjoy their seafood items. This new spot opens everyday except for Wednesday and you can get 20% off from 11am-2pm. If you have bougie taste and appreciate Wagyu and other premium meats without putting a dent in your wallet, consider Shabubu when you are in Arcadia, CA.

Came to Yakiya in Pasadena with my friend to celebrate her birthday and try their Dine LA menu. The…read moreDine LA menu was $78 per person, and after finishing the entire meal, I thought it was the perfect amount of food. I left satisfied without feeling overstuffed like I sometimes do at Chubby Cattle, but definitely wasn't hungry either. First piece of advice: make a reservation! This place gets busy, and I can see why. From the moment we checked in, the experience started off great. We were greeted at the front, our table was ready, and we were quickly introduced to our server, Jeffrey. I have to give Jeffrey a huge shout-out because he took our dining experience to another level. From his warm smile to his attentiveness and genuinely friendly personality, he was just an excellent human being. I would honestly come back just to chop it up with Jeffrey again. My water barely made it to half empty before he was already refilling it. More importantly, he paced every course perfectly so we never felt rushed or like dishes were piling up on the table. For drinks, I ordered the Imperial Palace made with Suntory Toki and yuzu, which was delicious and refreshing. My friend ordered the non-alcoholic yuzu lemonade, and that was really good too. Now for the food. The quality of the ingredients and meats here is no slouch. We started with the A5 Wagyu tartlet topped with caviar. This was one of those single bites where you immediately wish you had five more. So good. Next was the smoked ribeye tataki, which was another hit, followed by the chawanmushi with uni and okra. Everything was well balanced and beautifully presented. Then came the miso seabass, and I have to say it was right up there with Nobu's version. The fish was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. For the main meat courses, we had USDA Prime ribeye, American Wagyu short ribs, and A5 Wagyu filet mignon. The Prime ribeye was incredibly flavorful and well seasoned, while the American Wagyu short ribs practically melted in your mouth. Pairing the meats with freshly grated wasabi made them even better. Another reason Jeffrey deserves recognition is that he actually cooked our meats for us. Even while taking care of multiple tables, every piece came out at a perfect medium rare. That level of attention and consistency was impressive. Jeffrey then prepared the bone marrow rice and cooked our A5 Wagyu filet mignon to pair with it. By this point in the meal, I was completely satisfied without feeling overly full, which is exactly what I want from a tasting-style experience. For dessert, we finished with the Miso Cappuccino ice cream. Since we were celebrating my friend's birthday, the restaurant added a really thoughtful personal touch to her dessert. They made a handwritten cracker with her name on it along with "Happy Birthday." It was a small detail, but it made the celebration feel much more personal and showed the level of attention Yakiya puts into the overall experience. The ambiance matches the food and service. Yakiya has a modern, elevated Japanese BBQ feel without being overly stuffy. The restaurant wasn't too loud, and the tables were spaced far enough apart that we could actually have a private conversation. For a birthday, date night, anniversary, or another special occasion, the setting works really well. Parking was surprisingly easy for Pasadena. They have a huge free parking lot, and we had no trouble finding a spot. Overall, the $78 Dine LA menu was a great introduction to Yakiya. The portions were just right, the meat quality was excellent, and every course felt thoughtfully put together. But what really made the night memorable was Jeffrey and all the little details the restaurant added to make my friend's birthday special. Great food can bring you into a restaurant, but service like this is what makes you want to come back. I'll definitely be returning with friends and family for future special occasions. And if I'm lucky, hopefully we'll get Jeffrey again!

I was disappointed of the value of the "original" set especially since they no longer offer the bone marrow fried rice (it's on the lower tier one though). For $128 set and you only get 5 pieces of grilled meat and they count the starter drink as a course is disappointing. Yes there's meat in the starter courses but when the restaurant is focused on grilled meats, it's kinda sad you only get 5 pieces (unless you order more). The food quality is good but the value isnt there like it used to be. The biggest disappointment was the service though. We were never asked if we wanted to order drinks and was not asked if we wanted to add anything else at any point of our meal. Could we have asked? Yes. But there's a level of expectation from the service with a restaurant like this where they're promoting an exceptional dining experience. The courses felt rushed at some points and then other times there was a longer wait in between. It wasn't consistent. Knowing how it is at the other location, the hospitality level was not on par. Also separate from the dining experience - one of the bidet toilets in the womens restroom wasn't working, but there was no out of order sign and BOTH stalls had no toilet paper for quite some time until we had to ask a worker to restock it.

My friend and I shared the following dishes: -Carlos Jewel Box: My favorite dish here. I just loved the variety. Sashimi and fried seafood on a bed of fluffy and seasoned rice. Also a nice umami kick from the ikura. The sashimi was tasty and standard, but I really enjoyed the fried seafood bites. The tempura batter was great and the seafood was nice and plump. -Tendon Combo with Cold Udon: Same notes for the tempura here, the batter was great and the tempura here is on another level. I also liked the half boiled egg and breaking the yolk into the rice, so delicious! The cold udon dipping noodles were also tasty and refreshing. Great for hot weather. I enjoyed the texture of the noodles. The value of each set was pretty good for what it was and the food was good quality. This restaurant is located in a cute alleyway with good outdoor ambiance. We actually stumbled upon this place by accident. We were heading to the Mexican restaurant nearby,…read moreonly to find out it was under construction. This place looked really popular, with a lot of people coming in and out, so we decided to give it a try. The girl seating people when we arrived wasn't particularly friendly, she seemed like she was just going through the motions. Inside looked really busy, so we decided to sit outside. Even with the crazy heat, there was plenty of shade where we were sitting, so it was actually bearable. There was a QR code near the entry way that I had scanned but the young lady ended up bringing us menus, which was helpful. I ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura bowl with wheat noodles, but actually wanted the Undo noodles but I let it go. My mom ordered the all-vegetable tempura bowl. We also added a piece of chicken breast tempura to each of our meals for some extra protein. The tempura was different from what I'm used to. The batter was very light and flaky, but it was delicious! We both really enjoyed the vegetables. My favorites were definitely the zucchini and pumpkin. Overall, the service ended up being decent as well. Now here's the part I feel bad about mentioning. About 40-60 minutes after we left, my stomach started cramping really badly, and I ended up in the restroom. No need to go into details--it was horrible. I asked my mom how she was feeling, and she was completely fine. We pretty much ate the same meal, with the main difference being that I had the shrimp tempura and she didn't. So naturally, I wondered if maybe I had gotten a bad piece of shrimp. Of course, I can't say for certain that the shrimp was the cause. I'm not going to write this place off as a bad restaurant because of my experience. It could have simply been an unfortunate one-off situation. The place was clearly popular, and by the time we were getting ready to leave, there was actually a line of people waiting to eat. Overall, I think this is probably a good spot and we genuinely enjoyed the food while we were there. Unfortunately, after the way I felt later that day, I just don't know if I'll personally be coming back anytime soon.

We got two katsu curries and 1 hamburg curry. The hamburg curry does take a little longer to prepare. Trying out the katsu curry, it was pretty salty overall. Mild spicy, but not spicy at all. The katsu is also pretty tough to eat at certain parts (usually the edge), and doesn't slice that cleanly when cutting it into smaller pieces. The miso soup was also a bit salty, but the salad was pretty nice and refreshing! We also got to try a bit of the hamburg curry and that one actually tasted better than the classic katsu curry... disappointing that even the signature misses the mark.
