Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't have many options for those with food allergies. We came one morning for brunch and everything either had eggs or gluten. The coffee was amazing but we sadly had to go elsewhere to eat. Upon returning a few days later for dinner, we once again were very limited and had to go elsewhere. We ordered the guacamole and chips. It was $10 and it is a disheartening amount that comes out especially for that price. I genuinely think it wasn't even a full avocado in that tiny bowl. We might come back here for the tequila flights but definitely not the food. read more

I love this place. Been there twice now. I have to say they had a chef from Chicago the first time and to both my wife and I the food was better the first time. TBH the food wasn't that bad the 2nd time. I guess if I could say where they can improve it would be 3 main things. Service was extremely slow. When we got there there was a table with a guy visible upset about not seeing a waiter to order their meals. Our issue wasn't ordering the the meal but after we were served our meal we didn't see the waitress until check time. Both of us would have ordered another drink. None the less we stopped at another establishment to get a couple drinks, I have to say at this time I will definitely give this place a break when it comes to service as help is extremely hard to find. The second issue is the amount of salsa you get. Very very small portions. Once again I would have ordered more but didn't see our waitress. The 3rd issue is the amount of liquor the lay put in the drinks. Personally I like to taste the liquor in the drink. They definitely don't over pour. Nonetheless I love this place. You have to get the shrimp tacos! The texture and flavor (coconut, yum!) were amazing-- I wish I could a plate of the shrimp by themselves! We also enjoyed the Pollo Tinga and Al Pastor tacos and a chicken mole tamale, all great (truly, a really good tamale). And to get tacos served on two corn tortillas-- perfect! We look forward to eating here again, especially with a bigger appetite so we can try more of the menu. Definitely a huge bargain for the quality of the food! read more

Not letting me give 2.5 stars which is the real rating. It's okay, the place is absolutely beautifully decorated. However, the tacos and chips were subpar at best. The steak and the pork was really chewy. Rather small for the price as well. The IPA's were pretty good (3.5 out of 5). It also took 20 minutes for anyone to even take our drink order and the place was half empty. I'll probably give it another try when I'm bored. But won't make it a priority. If you're looking to spend a lot on tacos I'd go somewhere else. The price isn't worth it just to be in a gorgeous restaurant. read more

We're always looking for great places in Kent and Battleground is probably our new favorite after just one visit. The tamal was flavorful and not mushy, coconut shrimp tacos were my favorite! This place has quality ingredients and the slaw/picos and other taco toppings are so fresh. Prices are affordable as well. Upon arrival, we were greeted with the news that our reservation was not accounted for. We were seated regardless, however after about 15 minutes we were told we need to switch tables because our reservation was located elsewhere. No issues, we were happy to accommodate... After switching tables, all of our drinks, chips and salsa were lost in transition. After a long period of time, and feeling rather forgotten about we were finally greeted by our waitress who said "oh you moved!" We explained that our drinks were missing and ordered new ones. After we ordered our meal, and what seemed like an eternity, a different waitress arrived with our food, and grunted, "guess this is yours..." The food was cold and appeared to be sitting for an extended period of time. Additionally, an entire order was missing, oh, and at this point still no sign of the drinks we ordered. After explaining what happened to the owner, she rudely scooped up our plates of cold food without offering a solution, nor an apology. We were advised, "I'll refund what you didn't eat." Upon returning with the bill, the promised removed items were still present. After trying to explain to the owner the items she promised to remove were still present - she disagreed and explained that she did indeed remove them. After a brief disagreement, she left the area with my credit card for about 15 minutes. When she returned, the bill had been reduced by a solid $1. The owner explained that she was extremely stressed out and "didn't operate like this... but sometimes things go bad. I gave this place an extra star only because the owner ultimately just decided to comp out meal. Literally could not leave this place fast enough at this point... read more

I'm looking at everyone's pictures and reviews and wondering if we got punk'd. Our experience was not great and we would never return. I wish the over $100 we spent would have been used elsewhere. We stopped in around 8:30 on a Saturday night after the KSU homecoming football game. There was 5 of us; myself, my husband, my 20 year old daughter and my 23 year old son and his 23 year old girlfriend. This place came highly recommended to my son's girlfriend, a KSU senior who lives nearby. I then checked Yelp and was excited to try it also. First, it was a little confusing where to enter- the main door is a side door and inconspicuous. There were a few parties dining outside and no one inside. When we entered we were surprised to see all the staff just sitting down chatting at a table near the bar. It was suggested to us to sit inside as it was to rain soon, so we did. Despite having inside patrons now the staff still just hung out at a table- that was just not tasteful to me. The inside is very small so I think they rely on the outdoor seating area- which did look lovely. The inside was ok- cute vibe, I guess. The server did come to us quickly and she was pleasant. She brought water for the table that was lukewarm at best and a very small glass for each of us. None of us drink, but if you like margaritas there was a good list. I tried to order a Diet Coke- out of it. I then tried to order an iced tea to find they only have real sugar packets- not any sugar substitutes. Then asked if they have Sprite, my final option. I was told yes, but a few minutes later she changed her mind and said they are out of Sprite as well. So, I stuck with the warm water. The menu is quite scarce. It appeared there are more bar choices than food. As with many upscale Mexican places there is not complimentary chips and salsa so we ordered some. We chose the double, which gets you green and red salsa. We also ordered the queso cheese dip. The salsas were only ok. Very watery and each was served only in a small ramekin with one small basket of chips. Not enough for 5 people. The minimal amount was surprising considering what we paid for it. We had to ask again for the cheese dip- it finally came much later. it was good, as she described. The men each got a main entree. They ate it, but it was nothing to write home about. The girls each got tacos. Again, an item was "out", no shrimp tacos. The tacos were good- but were like tacos we can get at several places in Columbus for a better price and menu selection. The chicken tacos had a basil or some herb in such huge chunks that it was hard to eat and had to be spat out. My elote was forgotten and I had to ask a second time for it. I was most excited for the elote and it was a huge disappointment. The corn was very very mushy/soggy and it lacked good flavor, was heat more than flavor. I only had a few bites and sat it aside. We also had to ask for a refill of the water jug mid-way through dinner as we all had to drink the water and when it was empty it was not noticed by staff. Even though we were all disappointed overall decided to try a dessert also as the photos of the churros looked good. Another miss. The churros barely had any cinnamon sugar on them and were totally tasteless even dipped in the chocolate. The bill was over $100 for 2 apps, 5 tacos, elote, a kids quesadilla, 2 entrees, and a dessert- no drinks. Fine, had it been good. I would have preferred even Taco Bell by the time we were done. After a long day at the homecoming processions we were starved so we ate most of it and didn't complain to seem rude while we were there- but I would never go back and would never recommend to anyone in the Kent area. As for the owners and amazing service others had- never saw them, unless it was the lady who sat at a table on a laptop with staff sitting around her. She certainly didn't make an effort to go to our table or any others (2 more parties came to eat inside after we did). read more

Three of us went to the restaurant last night to celebrate a birthday and it was a wonderful time. The food and the service were excellent. It was a great crowd and they had merengue dancing lessons at the end of the evening. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday. We all plan to return in the future. read more

Finally! Excellent Mexican food in Kent! We shared the quesadilla and tried out several tacos and they were incredibly tasty. The asada was probably the best, but a close second was the pibil pork taco. We each tried a different DYV draft- both were very good. I wish I could give zero stars. I enter the establishment and there's 1 gentleman waiting by the door. I assume this is Rosi the owner who enters behind me, seeing she looks like the lady responding to these Yelp reviews. She approaches the gentle man waiting at the door asked had he been helped? He states just waiting, he's waiting for a place for 4 then. She states not sure if I have anything for 4. Rosi then walks pass me as if I wasn't waiting to be seated. Didn't ask if I needed anything, if I'd been helped just walks off. So after a few minutes I address the hosted who had been there the whole time wiping menus. Hi, I just need a seat for 1. He repeats what I stated. Then, I'm told there's no seats for 1. At this time Rosi comes back over the host informs her of a need for a table for 1. Rosi leans into speaking with the host and gives a hand gesture of possibly saying no. Now, I have scanned the room and there were at least 3 available tables and of those 2 could seat 1. After expressing I called and I know the restaurant doesn't take reservations. Well they offered me a crammed sit at the bar next to the glass mat and host stand. Highly disappointed seeing I had a 40min ride home and figured after reading the Yelp reviews, I'd grab a few tacos and try the passion fruit margarita. Not sure if my tattoos, workout attires, natural coils or carmel skin tone didn't sit with the decor. My roommate and I went for a week day dinner and it was amazing!! No actually... this might be my new favorite taco! Started out with chips and salsa and margaritas, which were all amazing. The hibiscus margarita was perfectly portioned and strong! The waitress said the tacos were decently sized so we each got one taco, this was the right option, anything more would have been too much. Got a ton of steak in my taco and I really appreciated how there were two tortillas for the taco so nothing fell out. The steak and green sauce was the best flavor. This was our first visit (carry-out) and I NEVER judge a place on one visit. We had the 'Pollo Tinga' and the 'Barbacoa' tacos. The flavors of both were pleasant in both taste and aroma! I'm a fan of much more cilantro, but overall it was a decent amount. However, we both thought that the meat and the chicken were mildly over-cooked. The steak, especially, seemed overly dry. And even the generous sauce and other flavorings couldn't overcome it. We were able to meet Rosie who seemed to either be owner or part owner and she explained how her desire to bring truly authentic Mexican food to America has been her dream and you can really taste that in meals. Cute place with AMAZING tacos, didn't realize it was in Kent until I saw they were established just this year. The salsa is great, with just enough of a spicy kick to it. The service was quick and the system they have in place for pickup is convenient. I also really appreciated and enjoyed learning about the social justice initiative they have with their "Drink Your Values" beer.
