This restaurant is amazing. The food is authentic, the staff is friendly and attentive and it's in a great spot. Highly recommend!

Delicious, authentic food for a reasonable price. Their patio/outdoor seating area is really nice and is perfect for a summer night. Their Facebook page is always updated with their food specials / special activities such as cooking and dancing classes, holiday meals, and live music. Waited 20+ minutes and no one even asked for a drink order after seating. Obviously very politically motivated restaurant. Not what I'm interested in when I just want good food Reply to Rosi: I visited your Resturant in late January. You asked asked me if I wanted to sit at the bar. I said no and you gave an uncomfortable look as if I answered your question wrong and you didn't like it. Later we realized you didn't have enough help on the floor and that is why you wanted us to sit at the bar. You could have just been honest about that and we would have complied. Also, If you don't think your establishment has political motivations your either lying to yourself or your customers or both. Things like a minimum wage or how drug offenders are treated are extremely political. Again, there is enough political division in our lives today. When I just want to eat a good taco I don't want to hear about politics. I don't think your restaurant will survive beyond 3 years with you at the wheel. Finally, your signage sucks outside. Can't tell you how many people when you the front door only to see it locked and everyone close to that door look at them awkwardly. read more

10 out of 5 stars for The Battleground! What a gem of amazing Mexican food and drinks in the heart of Ohio! We went on a Saturday night, after calling ahead. Our server was so kind and attentive. All of the drinks we tried, from mixed drinks to the Battleground Margarita to a handful of the craft beers, were delicious. The food was excellent - we tried a few different appetizers and tacos and fish and three different sides, even dessert - they were all wonderful. Highly recommend the cream poblano soup and the esquires. Everything had great flavor! We can't wait to return again. read more

I am not a fan of Mexican food. It all tastes the same to me. That is definitely NOT the case here.......very tasty and fresh food and fast, courteous service. Loved the food that I had. The only reason that I did not rate this 5 stars, was that I found the menu somewhat confusing to navigate. That was minor so I guess the rating is 4.75.....definitely will be back. read more

To say that we had a bad experience would be an understatement. We came to support a woman owned business and to have good food and company with family before a concert. What a joke. The "owner" was not only rude but way out of line. A member of our party was accused of not paying the bill when they were in a week earlier. WHICH WAS NOT THE CASE! They not only paid but tipped very well. They literally had to produce their bank statement of payment. I am third generation born and raised in Kent and will be sure to defer ANYONE from going to this establishment. You should be ashamed of yourself for inaccurately and inappropriately accusing someone of skipping out on a bill. Shame on you - left a google review and the "Owner" took it upon herself to say this was untrue. My family had to produce the receipt of payment and this owner took a picture of my Sisters phone. Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican food and my favorite new restaurant in Northeast Ohio. The pozole soup is amazing - and even travels well for take-away. We've tried the asada and al pastor tacos, both of which were flavorful and memorable; as well as the habanero salsa and guacamole. This is the kind of food that you hope to get at a Mexican restaurant and usually don't find (sadly). A can't miss! And while you're there, be sure to try the Modern Methods/DYV craft beers... the Si Se Puede Lager is one of the best I've ever had. so, restaurants have this annoying habit of seating you right next to the nearest tables seated with other diners, even when there are twenty open tables! this happenEd when we arrived, so we asked for a table away from the other diners, and were promptly told "well I have servers with stations I must manage!" Wow. there were three tables seated on a patio with 20 open tables!! and we were all bunched together so we could all hear each others' dinner conversations. Despite that terrible introduction, the food was fantastic and table service was solid. We loved the food. Everything is from scratch and fresh. read more

This is authentic Mexican food! The beans and rice have FLAVOR like I've never tasted, the mole is ON POINT, and the margaritas are DELECTABLE. I've been craving authentic Mexican since I moved to NE Ohio and this restaurant is right up there with my fav places in Chicago. Plus WORM SALT - it'll change your life, give it a go. This is what we call a hidden gem and I'm so glad it's here in Kent, OH. If you like or ever want to taste authentic Mexican cuisine, this place is it. My family couldn't decide on what to eat so we shared a little of everything off the menu. Everything was delicious, priced great, and my 7yr old even enjoyed his first churro. This place is AMAZING! Such a unique location and building and the food is outstanding. Love that they have so many beers on draft and they all support a specific mission- great prices too! We had wanted to try the Battleground sooner and I'm sorry we waited. We were able to order delivery online (huge bonus). The food was delivered quickly, neatly packed, and clearly marked. All good things, but the food itself was absolutely fantastic -- the best Mexican food I've ever had. We tried a variety of tacos/meats and the depth of unique flavors made us comment on each bite that these people know what they're doing! One main recommendation: You have to try the esquites. I felt the glorious flavors in my brain. Would recommend to anyone in the region -- this is worth a lengthy journey! read more

The coconut shrimp tacos & the fish tacos were delicious. The red salsa and the spicy pineapple guacamole were the best I've ever had. Great atmosphere. Our waiter was so nice and very professional. Our 45 minute drive was well worth it. Definitely will be returning soon. read more

Really cool spot that makes you not feel like you're in Kent. Trendy upscale taco spot that feels more like being in LA. The fish taco and shrimp taco were excellent. The baked queso is super thick and extremely flavorful. The bar and drinks are creative and fun. Little bit pricey, but a great date spot. read more

One word...fantastic! We had heard that this was a good restaurant and it did not disappoint us! By far this is the best Mexican style food that we have had since moving from California! We started with a jicama salad which was full of healthy and tasty greens, jicama and other crunchy vegetables, delicious tomatoes, and candied walnuts with the perfect amount of sweetness. The green herb dressing complemented the salad perfectly! We would have also tried the empanadas but they were not available this night. We tried several tacos, the pollo tinga, the barbacoa, and the shrimp. The shrimp taco was so delicious that we ordered a second to share! The tamal de mole with chicken was the best tamale that I have ever had! The Mexican rice was very good but next time we will have an extra taco instead. The flan for dessert was particularly special since it was not too sweet as it is so often. For drinks, the Election Day IPA was excellent and the Battleground Margarita was very good although did not have enough tequila flavor. That sums up our first visit and we can't wait to go back! read more
