The first curb pickup I gave all info over the phone and still the store person wanted me to sign the slip as he stands 2 feet from my face and hands me a slip and a pen ....arrggghhhhh Ok, we tried again today and SPECIFIED on phone no contact just pick up food and go, no signing slip needed !!! We pull up wait a few minutes and when the fellow brings the food, I point to rear door which he opens and THEN proceeds to ask me to sign the slip, this guy now has his head in our car and is talking to us with ... no mask ... no gloves... and finally I tell him that the girl on the phone said I didnt have to sign a slip ? Good slaw but 11 whole bellyclams? And undercooked. The haddock club sandwich with cold fries was soaked with oil (cold fry oil?) Was barely edible. For a restaurant with less than a dozen patrons at most, your food is cooked by teenagers that either are not trained or not paying attention. The two stars are for politeness and cleanliness. Went to the Beach Plum in Portsmouth after spending a day at Water Country. Leaving this 1 star review because the counter service was awful. Rude young adults who couldn't answer simple questions about the gluten free roll which is offered with the lobster roll. It's a bulky roll. I said no thanks, please just put on lettuce leaf. Requested potato chips. She tried to tell me they weren't gluten free. They are, as stated on the package. I ended up with a paper container of lobster meat. Very unappealing visually, served by a grouchy female server with a poor attitude "here you go". I left to eat in a nicer atmosphere. Never had such poorly trained servers at the Rye location. Don't recommend stopping here, even if it was convenient. Ruined my day. Please don't advertise having a GF menu if you don't bother to train your staff. read more

Absolutely the best fried seafood platter I've ever had. My wife and I were there today and were more than pleasantly surprised with the freshness of our dishes , they were perfectly fried ( and I'm really picky ). If this restaurant were a state it would be Iowa. Nothing terrible, nothing great, just kind of there. I went to the Epping location and really wanted to be wowed by this place, but went easy so ordered the Haddock basket and a soda-$17-ouch! But this has got be great, right? Quick delivery of food and fish was piping hot. Only concern was this was haddock nuggets, kinda strange, but alright....first bite was ok. Fries were ok, they had some black flakes on them I assume (and hope) was pepper, they were ok. The fish didn't have much flavor and the batter was uneventful but it was, you guessed it, ok. I so wanted there to be something great with this place, but it was just kind of boring and without any character. Absolutely awesome fried Haddock and Scallops... Quite possibly the best fried seafood i've ever had, and i grew up in New England... the Haddock was easily 1 1/2 in thick, flakey, the scallops were huge, perfectly cooked, fries were ok, honestly i'm not there for the fries anyways. I went here about a week ago and I am finally getting to this. My girlfriend and I decided we wanted seafood for lunch and we had heard amazing things about The Beach Plum. When we went up to order, the girl behind the counter (I am not saying names) didn't seem like she was all that interested in taking our order and her attitude was very, f*** off. Then she said our total was over $100 for a small seafood restaurant. We had ordered in and went outside to sit down when we got our food they were in take out containers while everyone else got baskets and much larger portions while we got barely anything. The amount of French fries they gave us was to much for even 2 people to eat 2 heaping containers of French fries and a huge helping of onion rings that we ended up throwing out because there was so much, by the way we ordered smalls of those. All the food was absolutely tastless, the lobster was totally over cooked and dry, had no sauce, no lettuce, no coleslaw (a staple in Maine lobster rolls) no seasoning of any kind and the the only butter you got was on the roll and over toasted. Lets move to the clams, again no flavor the batter was falling off of the clams and I didn't really taste any clam just some soft disgusting booger like substance and again on a bed of cold fries. From the kitchen to outside is about 20 feet I am confused as to how fries and clams were so cold. We paid over $100 and it was a total waste of our money. I am amazed that it has such high reviews where the quality control of the food is lacking. They also neglected to give us our drinks so when I went to grab them I got dirty looks from the employees. We then decided to try the seafood chowder next, the soup was very watery and again it is a chowder. There was no seafood to be found in it it was just potato. I wouldn't say it was flavorless though, it did have good flavor but it had nothing that stood out about it. Next up, the ice cream I got 2 flavors, the cheesecake and blueberry pie. Both were just too busy, meaning the strawberry cheese cake ice cream was mostly strawberry syrup and there wasn't anything cheese cake about it. The blueberry pie was essentially blueberry ice cream, another restaurant in Manchester has a Maine blueberry ice-cream that tasted remarkably similar to it. I don't think the plum ripped off that flavor but, It was disappointing. I will not be returning, considering this place has a 4 star review I am amazed at the food being so mediocre for the price. Went here since it we were in the area and it's well known since they've been on phantom gourmet. The place is really nice and has picnic style tables and outdoor seating too. I got a foot-long hotdog, which was super cool and it comes with fries. They have 78 different flavors of ice cream and the portion sizes are huge for it. The only disappointment was that I ordered a large size with strawberry, cotton candy, and crunchasaurus, but didn't realize that it was actually the small size until I compared it with my friends as we were leaving. read more

I have only had the lobster roll here and I can not understand how it gets such good ratings. First, the lobster is minced somehow so you have no idea what part of the lobster you are eating and maybe they do this to have a uniform consistency but who knows. Secondly, at the rate they sell lobster rolls, it is pretty obvious that this minced lobster meat concoction has to be prepared well in advance of you arriving to Beach Plum as I definitely could taste a lack of freshness even though it was not terrible. They use more mayonnaise than I prefer too but it was tolerable. I like the option of ordering almost any size lobster roll you want but the pricing is a little on the high side. I've been to the Beach Plum in Epping many times. I always order the fried clam basket whenever I am in the area. Looks like I'll have to find another place to get fried clams. If you my 90 pound girlfriend the Beach Plum is just fine. But if you're a full grown person you may want to look elsewhere. For $25 you basically get a pile of french fries with a couple of fried clams on top. What a waste of $25 I could've enjoyed a more satisfying meal for $5 at the McDonald's down the street. Short and simple..... change your fryolator oil every now and then, and don't cook your fries and onion rings in the same oil as your seafood. Ugh. Frustrating. Fast service helps but the food is just so-so. Fried food should have a nice light non-greasy taste and crunch a bit. Went here because we were craving seafood and a lot of places aren't open yet for the spring. The only thing was- I had no idea this was a seafood place. My boyfriend and I would drive by it all the time when we were in the plaza, but didn't know what it was. By the appearance and the name, I mistook it for a tanning salon until I saw their creepy lobster mascot statue at the entrance. Despite the location, the food here is pretty good, and the portions are generous for the price. I recommend the fried clams and the scallops. I enjoyed the seasoned fries. Coleslaw was a little bland though. I did not try the ice cream, but we liked this place and would come back again. Staff was friendly, the place was clean, and there's a lot of space to sit and eat. For an area that's not really near a beach, and on days where you really want some seafood, Beach Plum does the trick. read more

I have heard the food is good, and it looked delicious, but I was there today (5/27/20) and from the door- to seeing the people preparing the food in the kitchen, not one employee was wearing a mask, gloves, or any kind of clothing or head coverage. I assume they don't have to. There was little to no social distancing, and I was only one of three people total in the whole vicinity, wearing a mask. Went in for ice cream. Ordered a Kiddie size each. It was over $10.00 for 2 Kiddie size ice creams! Now, the size of the serving is huge! Here's the scoop... we wanted something SMALL. After seeing the Lobster Roll and Sea Food Plates on the Phantom Gourmet, my husband, brother in-law and I decided to have dinner at the Beach Plum in Epping. We were highly disappointed with the food. The lobster roll is sold in 5 sizes we purchased the mid-size for $21.99. Well let me tell you it was so small and looked nothing like it was displayed on TV and on the sign out front not even close. As we were eating another patron walked by our table and stated how disappointed he was in the size and the quality of the food. Wondering what the small lobster roll would look like/contain. I would have waiting in line to ask if they made a mistake, but the line was in the parking lot. They gave me so many French fries to mask the little amount of seafood in the platter. Excellent food. One of us had lobster bisque. Filled with chunks of lobster. Enormous amount of fried clams for the money. Excellent French fries without heavy oily taste. Lobster roll tasty and plentiful. Had one mix up with an ordered item. Quickly fix without question. Sits are mostly picnic tables with benches. Difficult for elderly. But over all looking forward to going again. Went back for a second try. Lobster rolls still very good. Would like a bit of melted butter on it for flavor. Prices have gone up. Second time they forgot the fries with our order but quickly resolved. Ice cream desserts are yummy. Still dislike the wooden benches attached to tables. Not easy for senior citizens or little kids. Having tried the other 2 Beach Plum locations in North Hampton and Portsmouth several times each, I decided to come try this new location before catching movie at Oneils. I had never tried the fried seafood at the any of the Beach Plums so I ordered the fried scallops. They were good...they didn't blow me away but they definitely satisfied my fried seafood craving. I'll probably stick to solely ordering lobster rolls from Beach Plum because they're AMAZING and they've never disappointed. My Mom wants one this weekend for Mom's Day so I will do another review if it is a better than 3 star visit. I'm hoping so! UPDATE 5/8/16- Mother's Day Much better than my previous visit! Met friends here for dinner since I've been talking them up of how great of a lobster roll this place has. I've been to North Hampton shop but this was a in the middle spot to meet. I shared the mayo and butter lobster roll with one of the friends. Cut them both in half to see which was better. Very tough decision. Still as good as I remembered. The other friend had the tuna roll which she loved. The best part was the free pint of ice cream after if you spend 50.00. I got the almond joy which was amazing. Yes 8oz lobster roll is the way to go. Best lobster rolls ever still and will be back for more. My friends and I were there from 6:30 till close. Perfect meetup for dinner. We found the food to be low quality, didn't taste great and was extortionately priced for a QSR - Over $60 for mediocre fast food with a soda. I'd rather drive to Hampton area and have better seafood at lower cost at Petey's (QSR) or The Old Salt (Casual Dining). Will not be returning. read more

Staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant is always spotless. Seafood is very good, but expensive. We got three 10 oz lobster rolls with onion rings, and a quart of clam chowder. We drove home about 20 minutes and the chowder was still hot. We heated the onion rings in the oven at 400 for about 5 minutes and they were perfectly crisp and not at all soggy. The lobster rolls were overflowing with perfectly cooked lobster, big chunks of meat, not all mashed up like you see at some restaurants. I could have used a little more mayo, but it was still delicious and the toasted New England style roll was perfect. The chowder was nice and thick, flavorful and delicious. Just what you want from a traditional New England clam chowder. This particular visit was on May 21, 2020 and I was a bit surprised to see that none of the staff were wearing masks, nor were the patrons social distancing in the line. They did however, direct people to wait outside at the tables for their meals, not allowing patrons to sit and eat indoors, which was good to see. I was paying in cash, so went inside to pay and pickup my order. They also offered curbside pickup, which we will do next time. We are repeat customers and find the Beach Plum to be consistently good and we also enjoy their ice cream and shakes. read more
