First time to The Bear Trap. It is dog friendly allowing dogs inside and the outside patio. There is a HUGE beer selection. By scanning the QR code on the menu, you can review all the various available beers. I had the OG burger. I particularly liked the slightly thinner buns (compared to most burger buns) which were exceptionally soft and allowed the two beef patties flavor to really come through. On the OG Burger I had, however there were no lettuce or tomato slices which I prefer. I'd recommend getting the half order of fries with the burger. The Our server was excellent, friendly, and engaging. It's a bit noisy inside so quiet conversation is not this venue. They also have several large tables to seat groups of eight or so. The Bear Trap is a short distance west from the Village.

We went to the Bear Trap for some lunch. We ordered some salads, beers, pizza, and chicken strips. We all enjoyed our food and the Hazy brew was my favorite. The service was polite, friendly, and pretty speedy. We sat indoors, but they also have outdoor seating. It was chill inside, and we enjoyed our meal.

Made a fishing trip to big bear lake and on the way to the lake this place caught my attention. Simple look outside but the paint and sign really catch your eye. After we wrapped up our fishing session we packed up and double backed to have dinner here. Man, am I glad we did! We had a large group and they were able to accommodate us without a hassle. They had board games and other things to keep the whole family entertained. Evelyn was so on point! She had so much good energy it felt like she was part of our group. The food was delicious and they rolled it out perfect without missing a thing which is impressive for how many were in our group. I was so caught in the moment I didn't take pictures of everything we ordered. I think eating here is going to become part of the big bear fishing tradition moving forward. The food may be a little more simple, and the service is amazing! When I say simple, that means outstanding burgers, salads, and pizza!!!! A great selection of beer and cocktails. And I'll come back to service - just wow!!!!!! Everyone is so nice, which makes the experience even better. Can't wait to come back!!!

I was looking for a place to watch the Mexico World Cup match and man am I glad this place popped up. The draft list was maybe the best restaurant beer list I've ever seen. Highland Park Brewing, Trillium, Cellarmaker, and Monkish?!?! How do you choose? The vibes were strong and they had a great drink menu too. The service was so friendly and quick. They have a military discount as well. Can't wait to spend more time here when we visit.

This is the 3.5 in my eyes, the things that it has going for it is on the outside of town before you hit all the madness. If you're looking for an easy meal with adequate Parking, then it's probably it Now onto the food, $5.50 for a soda is way too high priced in my opinion, yes, its served in a bottle, but still can't warrent that price tag. The rest of the food is OK, my son opted for the chicken tenders and tater tots which came out hot and he said that they were pretty good. I tried to Smashburger with the steak fries, which was good but it's a frozen burger patty and it's hard to cook it to a preferable temperature so it seemed like it was overdone. The fries were great though. I also tried to meat lovers pizza, which was good, but the sauce was canned and it was acidic for sure. Not the best pizza in the world. The people that owned the place were super cool and friendly. The server was also super friendly and helpful which I appreciated. They do not bring water to your table and you have to fill your own water cup at the door which if I'm paying a tip I don't really like Everything here is fried it's bar food. Yes it's a tap room I know but maybe after five beers the food would taste better than if you were sober. Hope they do well up here as it's one of the few spots that you can get in and out of without hassle.

We had the best smoked beef ribs ever. I thought they flew them in from Texas. Real wood fired smoke. Turns out the owner Miguel smoked them for 26 hours. Paired with their infamous smoked old fashioned. Second to none!

Food: I ordered the mommas burger. It has 2 smashed patties cheese lettuce tomato onion pickles. It was bomb I really enjoyed it. Everything was fresh and the burger was juicy. It was big and I thought I couldn't finish it but it was so good that I did. I also loved that they were pet friendly so I got my dog 2 patties (each $4) and she enjoyed it Ambience: there's indoor seating and outdoor patio seating which overlooks the street and lake behind. I really enjoyed sitting outside. Service: was A1. I should've got my servers number but he had glasses and a beard, I think medical and tall with dark hair. He was awesome. Very friendly and attentive. I was also contemplating between 2 beers so he brought out both for me to sample out. This def heightened my experience here I was actually craving a burger so I yelped for 30 min and bookmarked 4 places and kept going back and forth indecisive of where to go, but finally decided to come here and so glad I did. Overall I really enjoyed everything here today for lunch. So much that I recommended it to my friend who has a cabin here. And will recommend to other friends who visit big bear. I will definitely come back.

We had lunch here before checking into the cabin. The Bear Trap has an outdoor patio which is pet-friendly and we had two of our doggies here. I ordered an OG burger and split that! It comes with two patties and caramelized onions, pickles, melted cheese, and some secret sauce. They have a lot of different types of burgers and we also got wings, tater tots, chicken tenders, and French fries to share with our party of six. Service was fantastic and our food came out with the quickness! Overall, I would highly recommend visiting here and enjoying some delicious food!

Where do I start?? Got there about 8pm, found 2 seats at the bar with great seating options scattered throughout the dining area. Being my first time I like to gauge the staff/table ratio ti get an idea on wait time for service. While waiting for my friend, I noticed a large table off to the side having drinks and playing a card game. I was impressed seeing that they were consistently getting rounded on by their server. Finding out this was a family run small business made this even more impressive as it was a full house. Additionally, it felt like the entire bar was excitedly watching the FIFA game, which was surprising because the difference in noise level from the outside of the building was significant. From the bar perspective, the bartenders were so kind (A), provided short/sweet conversation and excellent recommendations (A+), AND gave us time to look over the menu without being pushy (A++). I tried the lavender buzz and the oso espresso martini, my girlfriend had a lavender lemonade seltzer both being DELICIOUS. We Comfortable chairs, bathrooms and business were clean, and water is available at any time by the door with a self serve station. Overall, great spot, amazing staff, great variety of beers and seltzers, the pizzas are killer, the nachos were perfect, cocktails were a hit, great space for watching a game or hosting a group apparently, and even better for a date night! Stoked to have a place like The Bear Trap in Big Bear. Already planning our next trip.

They have yummy food here. If you're visiting big bear and want some yummy finger foods and beer they have it here. We tried the garlic bread and the nachos. That was one of the best garlic bread we ever had I love how much garlic they put in every bite. The nachos were really good too my hubby liked how the chicken was seasoned on it. They put a lot of nacho cheese, jalepenos, and guacamole, it was enough food for 4 people. But we killed it all. The customer service was great too. Thanks guys

Great new spot in Big Bear! They have only been open 6 months. We visited today and they had 38 beers to choose from, about 23 on draft. Nice bar area and outside deck. Clean and modern. Had a few munchies that were tasty. Service was great! read more

My husband and I stumbled upon this brewery in Big Bear during their grand opening! The decor was great, everyone was so kind and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the drinks were awesome! (The wings were so good I forgot to take a picture until they were almost gone)! Going to breweries is one of our favorite pastimes, and this hit the mark! This will definitely be one that is in our rotation! We also got to meet the owners who were giving out free mead and samples, along with decorated cookies! read more

Everyone here was so welcoming and kind! My husband and I ordered our food to go, but we couldn't resist having a glass of the Bear Trap Hazy while we waited. It was so light and refreshing, we almost didn't realize how strong it was! By the time we sat at the restaurant for about 20 minutes and even made a 10-minute stop at the convenience store for snacks, our food was STILL warm when we finally got back to our cabin. The fries were served with ranch without me even having to ask,HUGE wins all the way around in my book! read more

Received Great Food and Great Service! A casual diner/bar with quick and friendly service where we felt welcome. My son accidentally ordered ale that was too sweet. They graciously took it away and replaced it with lager. We shared salad, mama bear burger, and meat sweat pie, and everything was very tasty and pleasing to our tastebuds. If there weren't cars in the lot it's hard to tell this place is a business. Small sign out front but nothing on the large building front that I saw. However, if you love an excellent beer selection,great food, and a great outside deck, you need to go here. Family joint that are doing it right. I had a great dark lager and my buddy had top shelf whiskey and coke. We also had their OG smashburger with tots. Really spectacular. My new favorite in Big Bear. Cheers to the owners. Brand new spot in big bear, just opened 3 months ago. The owners are literally the sweetest people and they take good care of you. The food is amazing? The nachos were LOADED!!! The menu includes beer pairings for all the food which is a very nice touch. They also have tons of board games and an outdoor patio overlooking the lake. Pet friendly as well. Service was okay, our waitress was very sweet but not very attentive. she never came to check on us to see if we needed anything nor if we wanted an another drink. They charge 25% gratuity over parties of 10 which is okay if they actually committed to their job. The owner Miguel was condescending, asked him for what the surcharge was for and just said we do that here. I work service industry so technically/legally that's not allowed. If you want frozen food served on cardboard this is this spot for you read more

This place is most certainly A TRAP. While I appreciate how accommodating they were to our pet, the service was subpar. We felt as if we were an afterthought throughout our stay. The food tasted like a ski resort snack bar. Everything tasted as if it came from a can, which is shocking because the reason we came here was for its high rating on Yelp. We noticed this spot opened up and decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. We ordered the OG burger and beer battered fries. Both items were on point! 10 out of 10 I had a mixed cocktail. I don't recall the name, but it was amazing. I am so happy that there's finally a place that offers delicious craft martinis. Big bear lacks in this area, so I know we will be coming here often Hubby had the Japanese lager and he enjoyed it as well. We can't wait to come back. read more

We discovered The Bear Trap after checking into our cabin this afternoon. We stopped by for a drink to watch the sunset on their deck with a view of the lake. We were immediately greeted by staff who offered to turn on the heaters for us on the patio. I did not ask his name, but he was super friendly and answered all of our questions. He recommended the Logic Lager and the jalapeño margarita. So good! We loved the atmosphere and will be back this weekend. The inside bar area is also super cozy and you really feel like you are away from the city. read more

We have been here a couple times and this weekend we stopped in for their GRAND OPENING. This place has such a cool vibe. Great drinks and a very large selection of beers. Highly recommend the carne asada nachos, they were fantastic. This place is run by a very friendly family. This place is going to do very well. We were told the brussels sprouts were one of the most popular items but they were not at all a standout.

The hostess told us that we could go upstairs to the bar area and sit anywhere we wanted and a server would be with us directly. So that's what we did. As a side note, the whole vibe of the restaurant was very comfortable and the building itself is pretty remarkable. Water and menus were delivered within minutes of us selecting our table, and our waitress Victoria maintained that same level of attentiveness the whole time we were there. The biggest shortcoming of so many restaurants in and around Big Bear is the bar and their specialty drinks. But this place just slam dunked on every other restaurant we've ever tried over the years - and not just for the drinks. I love a good old fashioned but until last night, every place I'd been to served their old fashioned in a glass full of ice like I was getting a soda at a fast food drive through. Not here. A proper big block ice cube made the "Maple old fashioned" (hands down) the best drink I've ever had. (I think they've got like 7 or 8 different varieties of the old fashioned and I will definitely be back to try them.) Our potato skins appetizer was on another level and that was before our entrees even arrived. My beef dip sandwich was perfect as was wifey's chicken Scaloppini. The timing of food arriving and the periodic check-ins from our waitress was flawless. We spoke briefly with the bartender, Doug (who may or may not have been one of the owners) to express how much we enjoyed our drinks and dinner. The hallmark of a well-run restaurant is that everyone who works there conducts themselves like it's their name on the sign out front. That's exactly what we got from everyone involved. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen staff deserves a Michelin star rating. The rest of the staff is equally impressive. I can't say enough about this place. Excellent drinks, excellent food and dynamite service. If you want a top-notch dining experience in Big Bear, this should be your first and only choice. From now on, it'll be mine.

What we didn't understand was watching two other families with dogs arrive after us and get seated well before us, along with what felt like half of Big Bear. Our "table is ready" text finally arrived 53 minutes after we joined the waitlist. If the real wait is an hour, just say an hour. At least then we could have taken our dog for a hike, grabbed lunch somewhere else, and possibly returned in time for our table.

We were actually here when that party was here. It looked like a big party ( more than 10 people). So gratuity was understandable. (We were a party of 8 and didn't mind our gratuity fee). Lots of cocktail glasses on their table as well as food. Also saw the owner hook them up with free birthday shots. Not sure what the problem was because when they were leaving, one of the girls in that party flipped chairs and stormed out! (Total house wives status!) The owner handled the situation very well. Family ownef and operated Beer Nerd Heaven at 6,700 feet! The Bear Trap's Tap list is better than most 0f the places down the hill. We enjoyed beers by Green Cheek, Monkish, Messoram, and Highland Park. Killer selection such good beer! The food was excellent - we had wings and the Mama Bear Burger.
