Typical-ish bar in a clear college town. I noticed that the best and most common meal to eat here are burgers and wings. Ordered the Gael burger which is the mascot of the school, I assumed. It came with American cheese burger, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions & bacon. It was very decent, the mushrooms and caramelized onions paired everything beautifully. I got truffle fries instead of regular fries and it was totally worth it. I almost ate most of my fries before realizing I didn't touch my burger yet. Give Luis a raise cus he was running the whole floor and I counted atleast 4 other workers, one of them a tall blonde man who kept going in and out of the bathroom or back room the whole time. So while Luis is taking everyone's orders, checking in on the tables, and putting the orders into the system at the bar, I'm not sure what that other man was doing...I observed him just taking up space. So yeah big up to Luis on his work ethic! It was such a good time there as he came out with our cake to sing happy birthday to our guest! Drinks were good tho too. I do wish the tables and surfaces of this establishment were cleaner, however. We had sticky matter and spots on the table. Aside from that they have some nights where they do karaoke after 10pm so you'll definitely see any influx of students during that time here, btw. read more

I ordered delivery. The onion rings were tasty, with well seasoned batter. The mac and cheese was creamy, but just a tiny bit salty. I enjoyed the pretzel rods. They were nice and soft, but an order only came with three, which seemed a bit lacking. The parmesan cheese on the kale caesar salad gave it a nice, sharp bite. I also enjoyed the mac bites, especially with the tangy chipotle mayo. The spinach artichoke dip could've used a little more cheese, but had a satisfying, rich taste. Earlier this year we stumbled upon Beechmont Tavern. According to some signs posted, they have been in business since 1928. They must be doing something right to remain open for so long. Beechmont caters to everyone, especially Iona College students. For the students, Beechmont accepts Iona's College Meal Plan as payment towards any item purchased. From the conversations we had with the bartender they really look out for these students. For instance, if their meal plan card is low on funds they'll work with the student to ensure that they are fed. Such an honorable and compassionate thing to do. They serve the typical bar fare with a few creative twists. And according to their menu they are dubbed as Westchester's Best Wings. We couldn't pass up the opportunity and ordered a few. They were pretty good with a nice little crunch covered in a flavorful sauce. I'd have them again. I'm glad we took a chance as first time customers stopping at this fun environment, holding great conversations between the friendly bartender and the friendly locals. What a nice change of pace from our neighborhood watering hole. It's very clear why Beechmont Tavern has been open for so long. We would definitely visit here again. read more

I really enjoyed the space here, especially leaving the city and enjoying really good tavern, food. Their chicken wings were really one to talk about, especially on Fridays. They have free chicken wings with fries from 5 to 7. I also really enjoyed their Mac and cheese and they have a great variety of foods to choose from, whether you just want a snack or have a full meal and great drink options as well as daily specials. You walk it and are greeted be an awsome old school Tavern environment..first thing I noticed was Police and other First Responder patches hung all over the entire Bar. ( as a Retired L.E.O., I love this ) I sat down at the bar and met a VERY special person..Christina the Bartender and Manager who I learned has been working there for 20 years..You can tell that she loves this place and has dedicated over half her life to its success of it. Christina suggested the mild sauce for my wings ( based on its popularity and award wins ) and I must say, these are hands Down, the most delicious wings I have ever had in my life. The wings are the perfect size, sauce was yummy and the perfect amount..not drowning in it but not dry either, and they are apart with and equal number of wings to flats...( in my Candlelight review I mention how I hate oversized, clunky, over sauced, attached wings...it's a messy two hand process just to take a bite ) These wings are the complete opposite..one hand is for your perfect wing, the other is for your perfectly paired cold beer..I Love it ( I went with a nice Modelo ) After one of the best meals I have had in a long time and A delightful conversation with the Manager, I get the check to see that they give a 10% Law Enforcement discount...WOW!
