Maybe one of the best burgers I've had in my life. Shockingly delicious! "Very rare" is exactly as advertised.

This place has been here for years..I regret it took me this long to review it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is a charming old school Irish pud in every sense.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When you sit at the bar and hear the Bartender (John) speaks with an Irish Brouge, you know two things are likey: the Beer is cold and the food is gonna be great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Well Yup and Yup! I had "The Eastchester" burger, was absolutely Delicious!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is just a great neighborhood pub that has its regulars and welcomes everybody.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I try not to go through Eastchester, Scarsdale, Bronxville area with stopping in. ENJOY!!

The Best Burger In Town.....That's what the sign says right outside the entrance to this smallish Irish Pub. My Guiness draft was on point. They don't take reservations, so after an approximately 10-minute wait for a table of five in their small dining room, we were seated. Started with the French Onion Soup. Came in a small crock but was loaded with cheesy goodness. Delicious. Had the Manhattan Burger (Canadian bacon, imported Swiss cheese, tomato & sautéed onions) medium. The burgers are served your choice of fries or coleslaw or potato salad or small tossed or Caesar salad. I choose the Cole slaw. The burger was on point, and you could tell the Cole slaw was freshly made. Delicious. I would definitely return when in the area.

Hadn't been here in about 30 years! We were looking for a good burger! And we remembered this was the spot! Service was great! We had mozzarella sticks! And two burgers. Juicy and cooked to perfection!

A consistently great lunch! We started with bloody Mary's which are amazing and one of us ordered the Eastchester burger and the other got a turkey club. The burger was fantastic, really juicy and perfectly cooked. The turkey club was crispy and well done, with the right amount of crisp bacon. The waitresses are always amazing, very friendly and fun. We love it here!

My husband has been telling that this place has the best burgers in Eastchester so I had to try it. I got the Buffalo Burger with extra crispy fries. The burger looks like it's fresh and handmade. Nice and juicy!!! It came with a fried onion ring on top with the blue cheese in the middle and wing sauce over the top. A great meaty burger. The fries were extra crispy and hot. Hubby got the burger with cheese and bacon and sweet potato fries. He really enjoyed it. The staff was quick with serving and attentive. The only thing I felt was that the place could use an updated look but it's not a deal breaker. I guess I expected a different look for Eastchester.

Very unfortunate. The food is great but DO NOT come here unless your skin is white. We were literally here from 4:45pm to 6:10pm and once our Hispanic waiter left no one came to even check on us or our order. They cater to "their people" the white customers because you know like most other restaurants everyone in the kitchen is Hispanic. After Very unfortunate. They cater to "their people" the white customers because you know like most other restaurants everyone in the kitchen is Hispanic. After waiting over an hour we complained and asked for our check and the white hostess did nothing!! Just gave us our bill. We watched as large groups of white parties who arrived minutes and then hours after us were served huge orders. While we sat and waited hours for a burger and wings. Now we understand why the majority of their customers are white! Again very unfortunate, but racism of a different level is still very real here at pipers kilt! They will not be seeing my brown face here again. Good luck with only your white customer cause if you're brown or black like me I highly recommend you do not come to this restaurant. There are many other places who don't treat customers like this to choose from

The service and food, on the other hand, were quite a mixed bag. We ordered a margherita pizza, pancake tacos, steak and eggs, and French toast with a side of sausage--the pizza, at least, was good. However, the "French toast" was more like an anemic panini press trying to pass as French toast. The steak and eggs comprised of a fairly well-cooked (that is, it was the right temperature) yet underseasoned steak of a relatively dubious cut, underseasoned home fries, and eggs done wrong (sunny side instead of over easy). The lattermost was the start of the problem, as I was willing to give it a shot, but found the texture off-putting. In light of this, I brought the problem to our server Adalia, who brought it to her manager Elvia. Thankfully I had someone else with me to tell me what happened: Elvia came over without addressing me on their error, silently took a look at my plate and instructed Adalia to have the kitchen put the eggs back on the fire. She takes my plate to extract the eggs, and brings them back (unsurprisingly) completely overdone, first in Elvia's hands, then in Adalia's for her to serve; we send for a refire, and they come back correct 7 minutes or so after I've already finished eating. Considering the hassle it took to get them, I couldn't trust it enough to eat, leading them to waste as well. After all was said and done, the GM Amer comes over to see how things were, and was thankfully helpful and understanding of our situation. Here's the rub: I was initially willing to overlook the steak, the home fries, and even the eggs if the error was properly ameliorated. Adalia and Amer both did very well, and I'm grateful for them for that; Elvia, on the other hand, managed to break the chain of competent customer service by directing the server to handle the problem in a way that was set up for failure (if you mess up an egg, it's an immediate refire because of how the egg cooks in the first place -- Amer also arrested to that policy) all without addressing us and taking accountability, due to negligence or whatever else. Not only that, but when sending the incorrect eggs over the second time, she couldn't even bring it to us herself--it would have been easy, seeing as she was the one that originally had them--and left Adalia and her tip to potentially take the fire if the patrons happen to be angry. Mistakes are fine--everyone makes them--but I'd describe this as cowardly more than anything else, and I take issue with that in particular from a leadership standpoint. While Amer graciously extended an invitation for a better experience next time, I can't say I'll be taking him up on the offer when their service and food are this misaligned; unfortunately, a disappointment overall.

To start, we shared the crispy brussel sprouts Charleston style. These were delicious with the tangy sauce and large flakes of parmesan cheese. For my main, I had the brunch wrap. It comes with chips, but I swapped for fries for an additional charge. The wrap was a good size; I had half and saved the rest for leftovers. It was tasty, but not a ton of flavor. The tater tots were nice and crispy and I enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and avocado. They gave me a huge portion of crinkle cut fries, which also would've been great with a little more seasoning, but they were good when dipped in mayo. My husband got the shrimp and grits and appreciated the large portion size as well. I had a lemonade to drink. It was refreshing since it wasn't overly sweet. Service was great. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu!

Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. All in all, here's a place that I can't wait to give another visit.

But last we were in the owner appeared to have instructed the wait staff to come and tell me that outside water bottles were not allowed in the restaurant. I mean it was warm, I have a condition I am battling that requires constant hydration and so I always have a 16 or 20oz water bottle in my hand. I eat out probably 500 times a year for the last say 25 years so say more than 10000 eat outs and have never been hassled about drinking water I had in process to stay healthy, so this is kind of an extreme outlier to me. We haven't been back since and likely won't ever go back even though we live in the neighborhood, since it just so destroyed the vibe to be hassled over a 50 cent bottle of water. We generally tip 30 to 40% even on $100 plus bills so it is just in my view a dumb business decision to hassle over something like that and lose what I would guess is $2500 in revenue from this customer a year. For sure the owner can run the business however he wants, but doubt the hassling behavior is increasing revenue for him.

It got busier as we finished up and it took some time to get our check, which we didn't mind, but because of this our server brought over two free orange sorbets as well as the cannoli cream cup dessert to go. This was such a nice gesture and we were already more than happy with our experience at AJ's even before the freebies. However, we did really appreciate our servers care for his customers. Overall, I'd highly recommend this restaurant as it was incredible and somewhere that my boyfriend and I talk about often. Unfortunately we don't live nearby, but AJ's is worth the two hour drive!

The Mac and cheese is more of a cream sauce so it's not gooey like traditional Mac and cheese, but the flavor makes me come back to it every time I come. The truffle fries are always fried to perfection and pair so well with the Caesar salad (you can tell they make their own dressing). When I wanna switch it up I get the smashburger which is pretty good! I had my birthday dinner here last year so it was my family's first time coming here, so they all got smashburgers and were very pleased by the high quality of the meat and the flavor. I also like that they have mocktails! I don't drink so it's nice to have a mocktail option. I've only tried the Give Me A Minute mocktail which I'm very loyal to. It's a bit tart and sweet (the lavender syrup really brings it together), and I look forward to it each time I visit. Met the owner recently and he was very nice! Forgot to mention this in person but figure I'll put it here--if you add another plate option deal (happy hour?) that includes the Caesar salad, fries and a side of the Mac and cheese, me and my girlfriends would rather give you guys our money instead of venturing out to the city! Definitely consider coming here with some girlfriends after work for a nice drink and good eats. I've even come to dine on my own and enjoyed myself.
