First-time. Some very cool signs displayed. Service was prompt and our order was served quickly. The roast beef came rare as ordered. Swiss cheese was melted nicely. Bun tasted buttered with a nice grill. Fries were hot and crispy with steamy soft center. Large coffee shake was thick and creamy. For a $1.75 a great bargin. Steak sandwich with fries and salad was a big hit. Server was very knowledgeable and friendly. We sat on left side. Tables were tight. Booths have a bit more room. It is very rare that I give a 2 or 1 rating. The only thing keeping it from from a 1, is the fact that the food was so cheep. It is cheeper than the Wendys, BK and MCDONALD in the area. The menu is comprised of maybe 20 items all of which are Beef of course, with the exception of the chicken and hotdog. I'd never been here before so of course I was puzzled when I saw the menu. I politely asked the waitress if this was the entire menu and I got an awkward...yessss... then we were laughed at by the other tables she was serving. The special is a half cup of Italian dressing soaked salad and 10 french fries. You're honestly better off just getting a large fry. Gross. FOod was good. Love the old barn feel. Great outdoor seating too. Here's the criticism: the actual plate they use to serve your food is VERY small. My food fell off the plate while eating. The plate was the size of a saucer. Really. Utensils are plastic and poor quality. Wine is served in plastic. By the way, this was indoor dining. If you love old world style it's good. Love this place! Everything I've had is good. Coffee milkshake is great! They also have veggie-burgers, and my parents came here all the time even as vegetarians. My fiancé is also vegetarian and loves it. I don't know what a lot of the people in the low-star reviews are talking about. If you are going to rate a restaurant based at all on the look of the clientele, then you must just be a shining gem yourself. The food here is very inexpensive, and yes they give you paper plates, plastic utensils, mayo packets, etc... It's a burger place! Maybe the large french fry isn't as big as you'd like, but they're so cheap you can order two. Some people say that the cooks are doing unsanitary things and then go on to suggest that Wendy's or Arby's is a better choice... You can't see in the kitchens there and I can promise it is worse. I've also never had a rude waitress. Yelp is a place to give helpful tips (like, 'make sure to order the pickles') and warn people of truly terrible experiences (like getting ripped off for example). One star for this place is harsh. Telling people to ignore all the five star reviews because they are written by townies is pretty weird. I LOVE the beef barn! I reside in wrentham so it is a bit of a hassle to drive to but it is worth it every time! Quick/speedy service regardless of how busy they are, the food is always terrific I've never had a single complaint about my lunch! Most of the others reviewers already nailed down everything. I love this place and have been going for years. They have the best roast beef and a BBQ sauce that tops it off quite nicely. I love all the food and they have great prices. Under $10 a person in most cases. There is no silverware. All meals come on plastic plates with plastic utensils. I am obsessed with beef barn. And lets just be clear from the start. I know beef. Ive had kelly's roast beef, I been to the country's best steakhouses, I've even had Japanese dry aged in TOKYO. Ive had enough beef in my life time to be personally held accountable for the death of AT LEAST 5 cows (hey, I'm a small person). Is this where you go to get the expensive stuff? No. Its where you go to get quality, shaved beef on a soft buttery bun for just under four dollars and its FANTASTIC. dO you love the Arby's beef sandwich? (Its ok to say yes here, you're in a safe place). well if so, this is the "normal food" equivalent. And i haven't even gotten to the best part yet! We saw The Beef Barn advertised on the Phantom Gourmet. It looked so good, we actually traveled from the south coast up to Smithfield. The sandwich is nothing like what was advertised. The add shows roast beef piled high, looking like a good meal. Their add actually says 'we pile it high'. What came to our table was a burger bun with two paper thin slices of meat. We also ordered a large order of french fries. There were 15 fries in a large order and they were limp, greasy and nasty. We double checked with our waitress to be sure our order was right. Certainly not worth the drive or what we paid. So very disappointing. False advertising. The Phantom Gourmet needs to update the add and show people the real sandwich. read more

I would have to say their roast beef sandwiches are as good as ... nay, probably better, than Miller's Roast Beef, and I do like my Miller's. Walt's Roast Beef doesn't even come close. The beef melts in your mouth, and the bun is nicely toasted. Also, I really like the old-school foil wrappers! Beef Barn definitely has better fries than Miller's; they still have part of the potato skin, which gives them more flavor. Stopped here during lunch hour; although the place was busy, my food was ready in less than five minutes. The place is definitely rustic, both inside and out. Apparently, they have table service, although I got my food to go. The parking lot is a bit larger than Miller's in East Providence, but, like Miller's, Beef Barn is located at a busy intersection, so pulling in and out can be a challenge. As other reviewers have mentioned, the prices are very reasonable: I got two roast beef sandwiches, plus fries and soda, for just over $11. read more

The beef barn is pretty simple. Quick, easy, cheap, delicious! Paper plates and cups. Mayo packets. Fun barn decor. No-frills, cut to the chase kinda service. Cash only. My favorite place to get a roast beef sandwich in RI based on taste alone. The cost just makes it that much better! Tip: Their "large" fry portion is not very large. I was disappointed yesterday. This restaurant forgot my fries. Wait person told me I didn't order them. I went to car and receipt said I did. She was ready to charge me twice. Sandwiches didn't have condiments I paid for, not on sandwich. Beef barn gave me wrong condiments. Then the cashier/ waitress tried blaming me for taking wrong order and it was handed to me. Condiments were wrong again. I made myself a promise not to go back in a fourth time or ever again. This place needs an organized system immediately. So much for the customer is always right. I think when an employee tries to blame the customer you've got problems. There are better places to choose for lunch. read more

Taste + Value. Best roast beef for your buck in the Ocean Stare. We had two roast beef sandwiches. The soft buns were warm and toasted to crusty perfection. The beef was flavorful, tender, and juicy. I added a dollop of fresh horseradish that delivered so staggering kick that it caught me off guard! All for less than $8! The menu was simple, but there was something for everyone. Speed of the service was excellent. We were served in less than five minutes after ordering. Place kinda sucks. The only thing they honestly have going for them is the fact that it's cheaper than McDonald's or Wendys. Burgers came on soggy, untoasted buns, roast beef was grey, and shaved so thin that it had the consistency of cat food. Asked for onions and pickles, there was an equal amount of onion to beef, and they sliced up a deli pickle, and tossed it in a plastic bag. Mayo came in a squeeze packet, so did BBQ sauce. Oh, the "House Made" BBQ sauce is not house made. It's OPEN PIT BBQ SAUCE. I've been working in restaurants for 20 years, and you can't put that past me. Large fries consisted of approximately 20 fries, in a paper hotdog boat. They were good fries, but not for the money. I don't understand why people tout this place so highly, food sucks, service is fairly rude, and abrupt. Keep it up, because all the old people who fill those tables will be dead soon, nobody wants to eat in a place that only caters to regulars, and treats new customers like dollar signs. read more

Best place to go for quick, quality and affordable no frills lunch or dinner. LOVE the Paris french dressing and being able to get a few fries and a little salad for only $2 more than a sandwich. On Saurdays they have corn chowder, which I LOVE. I'm a corn chowder fan and it's one of my favorites. I enjoy their roast beef sandwich with american cheese and their in-house made bbq sauce but one tip- eat the sandwich as soon as it comes our. The bottom of the bun tends to get soggy from juices in the meat. The service is great. Really fast, which makes it easy to eat lunch quick when I'm doing errands. read more

I spent a lifetime loving and craving Beef Barn, roast beef sandwiches because they were soooooo satisfying. I ate my way through Beef Barn during 3 pregnancies. I've followed them from location to location and even spent countless nights at their restaurant when they stayed open past 2am. Unfortunately 40 years later they fail to meet my expectations. My daughter brought home a roast beef sandwich for me tonight and I thought she took some beef out of my sandwich. There once was a time that these coveted sandwiches overflowed with roast beef and for half the price. Now these sandwiches are ridiculously priced with so little beef that I ate mostly bun. Sadly that will be the last roast beef sandwich I will drive over 40 minutes to buy and probably won't ever ask my teenage daughter to spend her hard earned money to buy one for me, ever again either. BEEF BARN....this is how businesses lose business. So.....WHEREs THE BEEF??? We needed a quick place to hit before hitting the drive-in theatre, and this was the spot we picked. I am SURE GLAD we did. The outside kind of looks like a barn and the second you walk inside is this big open room which looks like a huge diner counter with 3 sides. We chose to sit in one of the little rooms off to the side which was nice. The first thing you'll notice is the price. We got a delicious roast beef sandwich meal which was 5.99. The sandwich came out on a hamburger style bun, packed with roast beef and cheese (Swiss or Cheddar), golden fries and a nice little salad We were very lucky to come across this place and would recommend it to anyone non vegan or vegetarian. read more
