Very good service and well made, interesting drinks. The drinks are expensive, but worth the price for the quality. Tried the Dark Side and Debonair Pear. Really liked the Dark Side. It had a subtle chocolate flavor, but was thankfully not sweet. I did not like the Debonair Pear, but that's just fine as they have a "return it if you don't like it" policy. No questions, no complaints, and it was "What else can we get you?" I got the Old Fashioned which was fantastic. They take reservations and it may help on a Friday or Saturday night. Really dug this place after attending a Big Omaha after party here. Beautiful atmosphere and comfy booths, low-hanging tungsten bulbs are trendy but really enhance the atmosphere. The bar itself is beautiful, as is the entire space. Bartenders are fun to watch as they whip up a great variety of both tried and true craft cocktails as well as some unique creations of their own. I had their Garden of Islay (eye-luh), and it did not disappoint. The Scapa 16 yr single malt paired perfectly with the tart of the House Beet, and the herbal syrup and salt water rounded the cocktail out nicely - a balance of sweet and savory, bitter and sour. Amazing dark red color, too. Also enjoyed a Balvenie 14, and the generous pour ensured a return trip the next time I have friends in town from Chicago and LA. Was thrilled to see a Macallan 18 and a Glenmorangie LaSanta on the menu, but would love if they added my go-to Scotch: Macallan 12. Next time I hope to go on, say, a Tuesday night where we can have the place a bit more to ourselves. read more

Had a wonderful time here, last week. We prefer weeknights. The bar hummed peacefully at about 9 pm on Monday and Wednesdays nights. I loved the Trinidad smoke (but should have pulled the stopper out sooner-A bit too smoky for me). I loved the Woodsmen too. My wife tried the Bouquet and Mango unchained. What a great place. What a great bar/lounge for Omaha and with great hand crafted cocktails. We just moved from Kansas City where we had the Manifesto. A prohibition era style lounge that is continually nationally recognized. The Berry & Rye is the same type of lounge with maybe just a tad less ambiance but certainly just as good and tasty cocktails. Each drink is made to order by the mixologist behind the bar. Yes, it's expensive but the ingredients, time, effort, and love that go into each drink make them worth the cost and they are fantastic. Cool atmosphere, classy yet relaxed. Selection was decent, along with the drinks. The service was the worst part of it all. The bartender with the ponytail didn't greet us, didn't acknowledge us though we were at the bar for a while before he decided to give us the menus, without saying so much as a word. This was a wonderful hole in the wall cocktail lounge! We walked in to a friendly and greeting staff that told us it was open seating. We were approached soon after we sat down and were given some water and a menu. After looking I had narrowed it down and I asked the bartender what the the main difference was between the two drinks. He was very knowledgeable and was able to describe the complex flavor that each drink would have. Even though I was not a big fan of the cocktail I chose I can definitely appreciate what went into it and the complexity of it! My girlfriend and I visited on a slow Friday night to try their advertised craft cocktails but were chastised by a smug bartender with a cliche undercut when we asked for a drink menu or a signature drink. No menu? Fine. She mentions some fresh made syrups. "I'm down. Tell me about them," I say. She proceeds to play the 'I can't read your mind' card as if I have never ordered a drink. Fine. They were offended when I asked if they had a drink menu and gave a rude response when I asked if they had any signature drinks. It didn't stop there either (but I am too tired to write a book). It was an overall crummy experience, which is a shame because the atmosphere was so cool, and the drinks were tasty and presented well. But come on, customer service is so important. Me and my boyfriend kindly asked common questions. Don't act like we have never been in a specialty bar setting before. This was an awful experience. As someone who grew up in Los Angeles and went to school in San Francisco, I haven't always been blown away by bars in Nebraska (go Big Red though), this place would put bars in both of those cities out of business. Jeremy is like a wizard of the bar... he told me to tell him a few of my favorite foods and ingredients I like to have in my drinks (yay tequila), and he started mixing things up like a mad scientist! I had never heard of half of the things he was mixing into my drink, but my boyfriend and I were in awe. Like kids in a candy store! Jeremy also took the time to explain how the whole bar was setup, and how everything they use is fresh squeezed/fresh pressed/baked/boiled/etc etc etc downstairs! He was bringing up different devices to show us how certain drinks were "pressurized" and even let me try it. We were there at around 10pm on a Sunday, so I'm sure he can't always take the time with each customer like us, but I'll bet he would try! This bar is owned by the same people as Laka Lono and the wicked rabbit. Personally I have no idea what the theme of this one is supposed to be. It's rather dark for no apparent reason, and a lot quieter which can be kind of nice after going to a louder place. The prices are higher, but the drinks taste pretty good. All in all, I'd much rather go to one of the other 2 bars. read more

I have been a patron of The Berry and Rye since I moved to Omaha three years ago. My wife and I have always loved the artful crafting of cocktails, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and absolutely the atmosphere. It has never had that feel of the overcrowded bar with people lined up ordering shots and beers. On our recent trip however, it felt like one of our favorite bars had lost its charm. People were standing crowded around the bar, being a bit disruptive to what used to be a laid back vibe. I will say however that the bar staff did, as usual, produce very good craft cocktails and was knowledgeable and friendly like always. We just didn't enjoy the atmosphere which, since we last visited, seemed to be more college bar than craft cocktail bar. read more

I visited late on a Saturday (~1.30am), and the waitress and the bartender were both accommodating to my annoying British request of having gin served with fruit that enhances the flavour.
