Just to be clear, this is a review just for their berry cream pie. Simply outstanding One of the best pies I've ever had. I've never had their pie before. But some local people I met recommended.to me, it was the perfect mix of sweetness and a little bit of tartness. it seemed to be a predominately marionberry pie. Not super sweet. And the cream layer on the bottom was an unexpected amazement. I don't get out there too often, but when I do, I will pick up another one. I'll try to eat at the restaurant next time. read more

I came in today after closing as I misread the sign outside when I was pulling in (thinking they opened at 3pm for dinner rather than closed at 3pm). Luckily, they were still inside and so kindly welcomed us and sold us a couple slices of pie to go despite being closed! I felt bad but they were so nice about it! Super sweet restaurant with great service and large portions. Our young server was one of the most professional servers I've had recently. Well done. We split a dinner of razor clams and they made two full plates with mashed potatoes, veggies, etc. We're also tried the marionberry cream pie slice. On our return trip home-from 4 nights and 5 days in Cannon Beach, we took a detour home on highway 30, exclusively to dine at the Berry Patch Restaurant-based on a friends recommendation. We arrived an hour before they closed and my wife, daughter and I ordered the small order of chicken fried steak. We all considered it the best CFS we had ever eaten. Although open for 11 hours and having served many meals, our meal was freshly prepared and served piping hot. Every aspect of the meal was flawlessly prepared. Although late in his shift, the waiter politely and promptly served our meals. The country fried steak was so tender-no knife was needed-a first. The potatoes were great tasting along with the freshly steamed green beans, which were tastily prepared with sautéed onions and bacon. With all CFS, the gravy is a very important component to the meal, and it was perfect! My wife and I recently ate Country Fried Steak, while traveling to Atlanta, at the top rated country diner in Georgia. My wife and I found the Berry Patch CFS better! After dinner, we ordered the fresh marian berry pie-a la mode. The pie did not disappoint. We loved it so much, we took a pie home with us when we left the restaurant. After tasting a wide variety of both standard and sugar-free jams, we took home a case for gifts and for ourselves to enjoy. We will definitely make the highway 30 detour home from Cannon Beach permanent, so we can revisit the Berry Patch. The meal, the service and the jams were all OUTSTANDING! read more

Came for breakfast and left disappointed. Our food was nearly inedible. Biscuits and gravy were bland and oddly sweet. My side of fried red potatoes were bathed in rancid-tasting oil and not one hint of seasoning, onion or even salt and pepper. Even the taste of ketchup couldn't hide the flavor! I couldn't get my coffee refilled despite the empty restaurant. Our crispy bacon arrived burnt to a crisp. I had the shrimp Louie salad which was good and a good size portion. But the main reason we came was for some Marion berry pie. The pie was absolutely delicious. The filling was not too sweet so that the berry taste comes through. The crust was flaky and perfectly cooked so it was very light. This is definitely a lick your plate dessert. read more

The perfect place to stop for breakfast on our way to the coast. Had breakfast. Ham and eggs for me and bacon and eggs for the wife. Everything cooked perfectly. Eggs (over easy): perfect. Bacon: perfect. Hash browns: perfect. Ok, the wife would have liked her browns done just a tad more. I like that for your toast you don't have the usual selection of prepackaged jellies and are limited to grape (yuck), strawberry (barf) or if you're lucky, apple (meh). Myself and 2 Partners-In-Dine went to lunch here. I ordered the Razor Clams. P-I-D#1 Ordered the "Asian" Salad. I put quotes around "Asian" because they put cheddar cheese on it. Or as my friend who knows said they call it in China "rotted milk" and do not use cheese. Certainly, not cheddar. So, she asked that it be withheld. Our server had no problem with that. P-I-D#2 ordered a different salad and soehting with it htat I cannot recall. #1 found her salad pleasing. #2 was not altogether thrilled with what she had ordered. When my Razor Clams came they appeared to have been fresh out of the fryer. cut one clam up into a few bite sized pieces. I don't often get clams. Much less razor clams. I was anticiapting my first bite of clam to be spectacular. My clams arrived with fries and a good cole slaw. I try to dab grease off my fried foods when ever I can. There was quite a lot on the clams which, was not unexpected. Then, I cut one of the two large, flat clams into a few pieces to start. When I put that first enticing looking bite into my mouth I immediately spat it out. It was ICE COLD! It LOOKED as if it had just come out of the fry pan, and the very light coating was still freshly greasy. It was warm to the touch. But, the clam wrapped inside that coating was still nearly frozen. Our server could not be immediately found. My friend #1 went to find her. Our server soon showed up at the table. I explained the problem and she immediatly apologized and took the plate away. Before leaving the table she asked me if iwould like something else. I was very pleased with her service. I ordered a Patty Melt. My basic burger place go to. I asked for it to be cooked with as little oil as possible. My burger took a few minutes. It came out hot and a bit more oily than I expected having asked specifically for it to be "dry". I blotted it off and it was fine. Not better than fine. I had a side salad instead of fries this time. The cole slaw was really good. Not sweet and not salty. Substantial and flavorful. #1 Liked her so-called "Asian" salad. It was full of fruit and baby greens. #2 Was not very happy with her meal. Though, I am sorry I do not recall why. Their pies and jams smelled fabulous. I asked for a Peach Pie. But, they were out. It was too early in the day around 1:30pm for them to be out of Peach Pie, darn it. My first run in with Marionberry! It doesn't only only exist in the Portlandia tv show, fellow Yelpers. Loved their marionberry pie! I was also happy with my waffle since it came with homemade blueberry preserve and some marionberry syrup. It was a thin waffle so if you're looking for the large crispy experience, this isn't it. On top of my delicious meal, I bought some jars of homemade huckleberry preserves and marionberry jam. Every berry concoction tried was delicious and fresh and nothing was too sweet. Can't wait to go back for the marionberry cream pie which was highly recommended to me by a friend. Before I ordered I asked if the mashed potatoes were real or instant. I was told they are real garlic mashed they only serve real. So I ordered the chicken fried steak. I got my order and the potatoes were INSTANT. I tell the waitress she said they should not be. Goes and asks the cook, they ran out so they served that instead and said "oh my bad". I was offered a new side but my choice was fries or those instant potatoes. Then I tried the chicken fried steak it was awful! It was like eating raw flour. I couldn't eat it. This restaurant is a traditional stop on our way to the beach and it never disappoints! Today I had the delicious berry patch salad and chose to have it with their barbecue ranch. It was absolutely amazing! All their homemade dressings are delicious! The kids burgers and chicken strips were also a favorite of our kids. They cleaned their plates. The restaurant has attempted to respond without fully reading the above review. They state that the reason the pie was sold was because we did not show up on the date agreed. As noted above on the date we agreed to pick up the pie we attempted to contact the restaurant first. When no one answered the phone we chose not to drive out of our way to pick up the pie. We contacted the restaurant the next day and spoke to someone who stated that the pie was still there and that we could pick it up the next day. We had been in about a year ago and had a decent breakfast. This past Sunday, we stopped in around 11:45am and we discovered they stop serving breakfast at 11:30. Ok, I get it. So I order some coffee first.... she brings a cool cup of coffee.. I feel the cup and know right away it's gonna be cold. Yep.. totally cold, and waitress should know that by touch. So she has to brew new pot.. wait 15 min for what I would call "colored water" ... I'm a lover of good coffee.. this was one of the worst I've ever had. Totally tasteless, yuk. Got our food ordered and my wife's burger was huge and good!! Bravo. My chicken and dumplings were very bland and just a bunch of gravy, chicken and biscuity thing... not good! Both are superb with vanilla ice cream for those of you who are looking for that cool sweet finish to every bite. Friends took us here from across the river on the ferry for some pie. Was a wonderful treat for dessert. I had the Sugar-Free Berry (don't remember what berry it was) which was very good. Great place to eat in the Astoria area. Small cafe with attached business for jam/jelly. Had the bbq wrap, chicken and dumplings and standard burger. Large portions and tasted great. Especially liked the marionberry mustard with our fries. Also had marionberry cream piece and coconut cream pie. Cream was great. Light crust. Lots of fruit on the marionberry cream.
