This is by far my favorite breakfast spot. The owner recently passed away, and it was party to a corporate takeover. Before the takeover, it wasn't just 5 stars, I would have given 6. There has definitely been a decline in portion size and quality since that happened. That being said, it's still the best breakfast in the area, in my opinion, though the gap has certainly narrowed since that transition. Still, the people are nice, courteous, and attentive. It remains a quaint, often crowded (because it's so good), restaurant that reminds me of those I spent time in as a kid. P.S. get "the Mayberry" ;) read more

I don't need my mouth burned, but the place wasn't that busy and I don't know why my hot food was brought to me on the verge of being outright cold. I go to the Lee's Summit location almost every Sunday with friends. It's always clean and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is usually good, cooked well and served hot. Me and my family eat here all the time and the service is usually wonderful! Erin is fantastic and always so personable the food is fast and piping! However, me and my Fiancée went this morning for a little date and we were so excited because the hostess sat us at our favorite table but....it was dirty and she didn't come back to clean it. Then our waitress was inattentive and our food came back wrong after a longer than usual wait time. Turns out it was a corporate day and these poor girls were stressed out. There is no online waitlist, so you have to go and get your name put on the list. The wait time we were given was accurate - actually we got in a little sooner than predicted. It was a little appalling the lack of masking that was happening, even among some of the staff. Can't help but be a little disappointed that more people don't care for others enough to wear a mask for a few minutes just to get to their seat. The food was decent. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and thought it was pretty good. I really enjoyed my chicken and waffles, the chicken was nice and thin so lots of flavor; thaw the waffles were light. Visited in 2017 (Just fou d review in Drafts) You know when you pull up to a place, and there's a line out the door, that they must be doing something right. Our wait wasn't too bad it took us about 15 or 20 minutes to get a table. And the food and service was definitely worth the wait. The server instantly greeted our table with Waters that had that awesome ice in it. We took a minute to look over the menu since it was our first time there. I ended up getting a traditional breakfast "The Big Breakfast" it had bacon, sausage, potatoes, and eggs. It was soo good everything was cooked just to my liking. Visited on today hungry and ready for a great breakfast due to our past experiences. We ordered the blueberry pancake platter and unfortunately the pancakes were still doughy in the middle so we politely told our waitress the issue. The manager came over and apologized and offered to remake the pancakes and remove the charge from the ticket. The pancakes were remade and again doughy in the middle but we didn't complain just decided that we wouldn't order them in the future. The breakfast potatoes are usually very tasty and well cooked on today I had several that were hard and not thoroughly cooked. The bill came and the blueberry pancakes were not removed and was told by the manager since they were remade he wouldn't remove them from the ticket. The entire interaction left me with a bad taste about a restaurant that I normally love to visit. read more

Slave girl and I were visiting a friend out of town, and friend took us to Big Biscuit to get some biscuit and gravy for breakfast. I love dining food when the mood strikes and I was definitely in the mood for this. The restaurant was spacious but still felt cozy. We went on a week day and it was still pretty packed. In the restroom I saw something unusual and I must share. So far in my life, every public restroom that has a sign posted always says "please turn off the water after use." This one said, "Do not turn the hand sink off!" Say what?! Later on I found out it was because the pipe might be frozen and burst if the water was still. How interesting?! Menu had breakfast and lunch available. I was kind of hungry so I ordered winner winner chicken dinner and grits on the side. Slave girl got country benedict. We also got a big pot of coffee for our sanity. Chicken dinner came with breaded chicken breast covered with gravy and a big biscuit. I wasn't sure what they used in the gravy, but it was thick and flavorful. Nothing could go wrong with that gravy I tell you. The grits was bland but we got table salt to fix that issue. Country benedict was pretty amazing. It had 2 scrambled eggs, 2 sausage patties on a split big biscuit covered with sausage gravy. It was basically glorified deconstructed sausage biscuit packed with a lot of flavors. I would highly recommend to order this if you don't know what you want. Overall it was a good time. The service was whatever but the food was really good. We did ask if we could take some coffee to go after we were done eating, and they had no problem giving us to go cups for the coffee. We are traveling and would absolutely be a regular if we lived here! The service was amazing (thank you Michelle!) and the food was too! I had the biscuits and gravy (their specialty) and my wife had the Cowboy Benedict with fried chicken (see pictures). The biscuits are BIG (of course) and tasty, the sausage gravy is very good, and the fried chicken on the Benedict will make you want to come back for lunch and order fried chicken. I finally stopped by because I saw the parking lot was constantly packed and thought surely what they are serving must be good and I wasn't wrong. If you like a hearty breakfast, The Big Biscuit is the place for you! Their big biscuit is not huge but it's mighty delicious, especially with their gravy. It's soft and flaky on the inside and nice and toasted on the outside. It was so good, we had to get more than one. Their portions are above average and you will be plenty full with anyone plate.
