Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit
J E.

I travel an awful lot and I always enjoy trying a new, fun, unique, and interesting breakfast joint... So, on one of my frequent visits to the Overland park/Leawood area I stopped in here for breakfast. Getting there about 40 mins after they opened for the day, they were far from busy, and by the time I left, there were many more tables sat. Service was decent at the bar. I ordered a cup of coffee, which comes with a carafe and I chose their Nashville Hote Chicken Biscuit with their home style potatoes done with onions, green peppers, and cheese. I wanted to try their sausage gravy, so I asked for aside of that as well. The potatoes were the first thing I tried and while the cheese was melted on them, the potatoes were lukewarm. There wasn't much flavor from the addition of the other items, so I only ate a few and then was done with the side item. Next I tried the chicken biscuit. The crown of the biscuit broke as soon as I touched it with my fork and it was somewhat cool, far from fresh and hot, especially for first thing in the morning. The chicken itself was insanely hot, fresh, and the seasoning on it was incredible! Nice and spicy and very tasty, but beware, the thickness of the chicken is that which seems to have been cut in half, far from thick. The breading for the fry was great too. Next, I tried their sausage gravy and it was really basic, nothing flavorful or thick or seasoned about it. Really boring. Overall - this place has great potential and maybe it does better on other days, but I gave it a try and since I don't live in this area, I most definitely wouldn't return when back in town.

Took my kids here. Mentioned it was my son's 3rd birthday. Asked if they do anything for birthdays, but no big deal if not. Never got an answer. Pancake kid's meal: $7.99. Comes with 6 mini pancakes, 2 sausage rounds, and a drink. ....then the bill comes. $3.00 upcharge to add strawberries and bananas to the pancakes. $0.50 upcharge for CHOCOLATE SYRUP $1.00 upcharge for apple juice. The only "free" drink is milk or soda and my kid is allergic to dairy and is too young for soda. The only thing above mentioned on the menu was the ridiculous drink upcharge. The others upcharges? Not a peep from the waitress. When I asked her about it, she agreed it was ridiculous, but that was it. Boxed up half his lunch to bring home as a snack. He insists on carrying the to go box outside himself (because he's a big kid now). Spills everything on the floor. While I don't expect free hand outs by any means, any sort of offer to replace his very expensive, sneaky upcharged birthday meal would have been nice.

When you have a bunch of family in town and it dawns on you that you'll need a restaurant for brunch that can accommodate around 20 people you really have two options: try to find someplace that is big enough (and kid friendly enough) to deal with a massive group, or get bagels or donuts for home. Feeling adventurous my family decided to roll the dice on option one. Knowing that more than half the party would be children this eliminated several of my favorite brunch places, and couple that with the size of our party, you are really looking at either chains like IHOP or very few other places that cater towards families. Enter the Big Biscuit. If you aren't familiar with the BIg Biscuit it's a local chain that has popped up everywhere around the KC metro over the past few years. It's kind of like a local version of an IHOP in my opinion. The food is a bit fresher, the service a bit better, but the food in general is somewhat similar to me. Now, back to our experience. My husband called ahead since we had such a massive party and they said it would be no problem, so we made a kind of reservation and mosied our way over. We were the first to arrive and the place was HOPPING. It was a Sunday, the Chiefs were playing later that day in a big game, and folks were wanting to get their brunch on. We found the host and he said he was told we would be there an hour earlier so there was a communication issue between the person who took our reservation on the phone and the host. What really impressed me though, was how he handled it. What would have been a really stressful situation for just about anyone, he managed to handle with so much grace. He turned to us and said it would be no problem, that it might be a few minutes but that he was going to work on getting our massive group of 20 seated as soon as he could. And he did! When I say this place was busy I'm not exaggerating. I'm not even sure how he did it. Once we all got seated, they had great options for kids, everyone was happy and our server was 10/10 amazing. I had a half order of biscuits and gravy which were honestly very average, but I think for most people they would be super enjoyable. My daughter had chicken fingers which she loved, and my husband had an omelette which he said was great. Overall I think the food here is about 3 stars but the service and ability to work with families and kids is 5. So, 4 stars is about right. We will absolutely be back and I'm so grateful locally owned businesses like this exist in our metro!

Laredo bowl, hash browns, and a biscuit

Had a great breakfast with a friend at the big biscuit. It was a Sunday around 9:30, and we were able to get a table right away. Our server was great. I got the Laredo bowl and it was delicious! I highly recommend it. With a biscuit, which was also delicious. I got a side of hash browns as well, but I wish they would have been crispier. Our food came out really fast. It was a good, solid meal!

The service was a little slower than normal, but the food was definitely on point!! This is my go to breakfast joint whenever I'm in the KC area. I'll be back!

I don't remember what I got but it was the egg white something.

We find out The Restaurant KC is open 24 hours only a few days/week. On our way to Olathe, we stopped here. The Biker Bar had just closed next door. The Waitress was very nice and told me to get the French toast. I didn't get the French toast and ordered Pancakes (which were great), my brother did order the FT and it was simply the best! Caramelized perfectly with the perfect amount of cinnamon sugar, just a tad of nutmeg (if any) and copious amounts of vanilla in the custard wash. The Chef who works the 24 hour late nights shifts knows what TF he's doing! There were people coming in at all hours for To Go orders of burgers and other dishes. Sucks I'm 1,800 miles away, because this might be the best breakfast I've ever had! The only thing I would change is the chain smoking that happens next door, that infiltrates the restaurant. That's THE ONLY thing I would change. However, the food is so darn good, might be worth the stinky cigarette smoked clothes for some of these hot cakes, griddle items and the tastiest bacon you've ever had.

The correct order was the cheese burger and curly fries. The fries were not so good but maybe just because it was door dash and not fresh by the time it arrived. Finally ordered the 4 item appetizer the onion rings are amazing! And a huge order. I would definitely go again but actually go to the restaurant this time and not order delivery. Only small complaint would be the hours on google and yelp are wrong. Can the business owner update these?

Easy to find off of 87th, the space is not huge, but there's plenty of seating, especially at the bar. Burger night (Mondays?) is $2 off the specialty burgers, and I recommend that Diablo Burger if you like a little heat. Sliced jalapeños & pineapple atop a 1/2 lb. burger with a sweet heat sauce, this burger will hit just right. Service is friendly and fast and the prices are right on par with the market. You can get in and out with a couple of burgers and a couple of drinks during special time for around $45 and that's a pretty good deal with a better value to boot. They absolutely have the processes of this little restaurant honed to perfection, and even during a busy lunch time kept things humming so that there was minimal wait time (to order, for the food to be brought out, and to pay for our meal). Many, MANY thanks to Robert, who seated us, took our order, brought our food out, and settled our bill. He was friendly, efficient, and so welcoming. It was a joy to watch him work; he made sure to greet each and every customer coming in the door, and was consistently so upbeat and positive. And many, MANY thanks to Tony at the grill! Our food was FANTASTIC!! I have high standards for Mediterranean food, and the falafel wrap was totally delicious! The falafel itself was perfectly cooked, with a crispy outer layer, and the other ingredients in the wrap were chosen for a perfect melding of flavors. I had the side salad, with homemade Thai peanut dressing, and it was equally tasty. My husband had the patty melt, which came on homemade bread (!) and was, per his report, perfectly done. His side was tater tots, and we shared them. They were crisp and light without being greasy, and addictively yummy! The restaurant is in a strip center; it's not very big, but the tables are well placed so that no one feels cramped. The open reception area and kitchen/grill make it easy for the staff to respond to what's happening in the dining room (e.g., new folks arriving). It was a truly memorable meal, and we'll definitely be back! Again, MANY thanks to Robert and Tony for such a great lunch. We appreciate you!

We thought, why not try something new. Maybe it will be delicious! And we heard they might have vegan options! (They didn't.) First impression: the place is empty. I point out the sign at the front that says "GET READY TO HAVE SOME UN" and raise my eyebrows and my hungry wife manages a smile. I couldn't wait to find out what having some UN means! I'd like to see you guys eat a salad without a fork by the way. We scanned menu, saw nothing vegan IN THE YEAR 2026 AD and asked about vegan options. We were told there's vegetarian options but we are so hungry at this point why not try it. After all, this is supposed to be the best burger in Overland Park. There's the avocado taco (it has aioli on it tho thats probably not vegan) and they used to have a "portobello taco", but it got taken off the menu, and besides, to make it vegan you apparently have to take off the pesto and the cheese, leaving you with a mushroom and a piece of arrrrrugula on a dry tortilla, because 100% of sauces are animal based. It's Kansas City just put some barbecue sauce on it or something. They have an Impossible Burger, with which we are familiar, but the bun is an "egg bun" and for the vegan burger you get a gluten free cardboard bun, lettuce, tomato, zero condiments, and no salt or pepper, and you'll EAT IT AND LIKE IT. Come on, give me my gluten! I know you have only met 1 vegan in your life but most vegans aren't gluten free! We want just a regular bun is that too much to ask?! In 2026?! Is the UN for unseasoned? Un Bun? Unsatisfying menu? Does the UN allude to when the United Nations sanctioned this burger for war crimes? Look it up, 2018. So we got the Impossible Burger and truffle fries (fries sold separately because this country is going into the toilet) and sat down. Food came out fast enough. Fast AND casual. My wife almost burst into tears when she bit into the burger, not tears of joy either. She recalled a terminally ill patient that she had, in order to feel better about this burger. I said come on, cant be that bad. I took a bite and the complex flavors took me back in time to when I was a little lad, in the elementary school cafeteria line, being bullied by the other kids, being yelled at to hurry up by the wrinkly lunch lady as she slopped a bland half frozen meat puck onto the dishwater wet surface of my plastic lunch tray. Ahhh yes, this un-seasoned un-flavored un-glutened un-burger tasted just like that memory. And what's this! A bonus hair in the truffle fries! Unclean! Unwashed? Or underwear hair? It did taste like truffles... Either way, unbelievable. We choked down the best burger that the culinary Mecca of Overland Park has to offer, like the hungry little piggies we were, and left, unappetized and undignified. Avocado taco was alright though. If i had to rate the "truffle fries", I would be forced to go with the Unrated Edition, on account of the "seasoned curlies" I found in there. Now, in post-burger clarity, one can only wonder: if you asked the staff at Unforked for a fork, would they fork it over or do they just not give a fork?
