Love this location. It is always clean and welcoming. Not only is it convenient to my work location, but the service is great. Always a friendly, welcoming smile and conversation from William along with suggestions about menu items. The food is tasty and is affordably priced, as well. Went to college football game at Arrowhead last Thursday and stopped in on the way home for breakfast. There was a cook and a host-stress. She worked her tail off so it would've been a 0 without her effort. It might have been the worst breakfast I've ever had-eat at home or dine in. They took forever, I ordered a meat/mushroom & cheese omelette. She brought out an omelette covered in onions and green peppers. The host-tress knew it was wrong but still tried to get me to take it. I heard her tell the cook, he wouldn't take it and named off exactly what I ordered. Who knows what he did to my real order. They forgot my biscuits and gravy so she went back and brought a plate of ice cold and I mean ice cold gravy with sausage links chopped up in it. The host-stress said let me know if the biscuits are too hard. The biscuits? You could look at it and see that isn't what they normally serve for biscuits and gravy. We had three adults and a child. Our meal was $100 for little to nothing. Nobody got more than the sliders or two chicken strips. Two people ordered medium spice and our person that wanted no spice ate the medium because there was no spice on any of it. The Denny's we've frequenter before has not had the best service. Good food, but the service was really subpar. So imagine how surprised I was to be greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. William greeted us, seated us and took our drink order within the first five minutes of being in the restaurant. My husband coffee cup was never empty. William came by probably every 5 to 10 minutes to see if we needed anything. I haven't had this good of service at the most expensive restaurant we've eaten. The service was excellent! The wife and I were out running errands and stayed out longer than we anticipated, so we got hungry, so we decided to stop in here. I used to hang out here when I first moved to the KC area. The place isn't as large as I remembered it, and it's definitely changed configuration since then. It's also showing its age, building-wise. My wife and I were both in the mood for breakfast, which Denny's has never disappointed with. The food was excellent. But the best part about our visit was not the food, it was our waiter, Will. My wife and I were not in the most pleasant or positive of moods due to some issues with our house that recently happened that have really worn on us. But Will certainly brought our spirits up with his positive, sunshiny, upbeat words and behavior taking care of us as our waiter. If Will worked at a Plaza restaurant he would be making six figures a year. Very, very respectful, very attentive, communicative, and eager to make sure when he walks away from your table you're smiling and feel good about being there. He totally put us in a better mood. We won't be returning to Dennys at all. Please avoid them and go to Pegahs or the Big Biscuit. They're much better in my observation. read more

I went here during lunch. It was not too busy. The atmosphere felt homey and carefree. I had good and fast service for only having an hour lunch during work. I ordered the Loaded bacon cheddar tots appetizer and the Crazy Spicy Skillet entree. The Loaded bacon cheddar was good, it tasted crunchy and cheesy. The Crazy spicy skillet was not that spicy. It did have a kick to it with the sauce they used. I like the pepper jack cheese melted on the potatoes. I also tried the Blueberry Pancake Puppies appetizer which were crispy, but soft on the inside and served with the sweet icing. I thought it was strange they put it on the appetizer section of the menu since it was like a dessert food item. Overall, I would recommend Denny's if you're looking for cheap, but decent food with quick service. I would definitely return to try their milkshakes. read more

First time dining in at this location. We went for a mid-morning Saturday breakfast. It was nice and clean inside and our server was attentive and sweet. The coffee was decent and I prefer other creamer flavors besides half and half but not a deal breaker. Our food was decent it but it could have been a lot warmer, that's why i give three stars. My friends and I always end up at this Denny's location between 11 PM and 1 AM. (The middle of the night is always the best time for Denny's or IHOP!) There's never really anyone there when we come, so we get prompt service. The night-shift staff is friendly. In rating this Dennys against other similar places. Its not a high-end establishment. When you come in really late/early morning there are some interesting people. I've been serenaded my a drunk guy and listened to JoCo elite ask for cold brew lol. The wait can be a bit slow if they are short staffed but that happens at 3am when most places are closed. Their pancakes have always been fresh and have sugar free syrup if you ask. I've had the same waiter twice and he's nice but a tad forgetful. He always has made it right and asks about our other dining partner if he doesn't come. The eggs have always been cooked to order and everything is fresh. The grand slam is 2 pancakes, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links, 2 eggs cooked to order and hash browns...for 5.99 that's a bargain imo. The people watching here at 3am is priceless. Came into Dennys on Metcalf to get a quick bite to eat. Our server Bentley was absolutely amazing. He was friendly and attentive and always brought me hot coffee and plenty of creamers. I ordered a burger and it was one of the biggest burgers I've ever had. I have left overs for lunch tomorrow! The seasoned fries were great as well, perfect amount of crispy. I've also never been to a Denny's where someone has asked if I wanted anything taken out of the way? It was awesome since I was sitting here doing homework. Being able to eat then spread out my work without worrying about getting my papers dirty was phenomenal. I ate here Tuesday September 24, 2019 around 5.00 P.M. almost A year ago. I hadn't been to my original hometown Kansas City for many years. But I used to eat here in the 70'S and 80'S. A coworker and I met this morning to discuss a work project. We were greeted by a young server named Juliette who seated us in her area, offered us coffee and water, and gave us ample time to order. When she came back, we decided that neither of us were in the mood for breakfast yet, so we courteously order toast and english muffins. 20 minutes later, she slammed our order on the table, splashed coffee around our cups, and stomped off... she never apologized or tried to clean up the mess. I went to the front counter to ask her for some napkins, and as she saw me walking up to her, turned and busied herself at the back counter. A different server gave me what i needed.
