Pork noodles, duck, fish ball soup
    Tina L.

The star of the show were definitely the noodles. They outshone even the duck. We had high hopes for the duck, but the pieces were 50% fat. After eating, you will have a lot of leftover sauce. I definitely recommend you bring it home to reuse it in your cooking though! The fish ball soup was fishy and salty, but the veggies help to balance it out. The fish balls were large and bouncy. They offer a discount for paying in cash.

Food was ok, but nothing stood out. They specialize in Shunde style cuisine, which I've never tried before so I can't compare. However, I did find the food to be incredibly salty! They are definitely on the pricer side as well but portions are very generous. - Traditional Black Soybean House Recipe Stew Duck (Half) - $32 - almost every table had ordered this dish so we gave it a try. meat was tender but fatty - Must Order Roast Pork Rack - $28 - tasty, but salty - Salted Golden Pompret with Pork Belly on Ginger Soy Sauce - $32 - probably everyone's favorite, fish was silky smooth but also very salty - Soy Sauce Country Style Lotus with Minced Pork Mini Sandwich $18 - taste was fine but not worth it - Fried Rice with Scalllop, Dried Shrimp, Fish Roe and Egg White - $25 - the only dish that wasn't salty. Got this for the carbs but white rice would've suffice and would have actually went well with the dishes me ordered Nothing special to note about the service but food came out relatively fast. The lighting in the restaurant makes it great for taking photos and is quite spacious. Not sure if I would return though.

The food is ok but very special. I like the fish skin with onion and parsley and peanut. Interesting texture for fish skin . Another dish is fish neck? The other dish like tofu and fish cake is not special. The dessert taro cubes and steam milk are interesting and taste is ok. The place is bright and clean. Parking is ok. The service is good and prompt.

Duck course was very popular and decent.

Meh. Came here because it's new and apparently very popular. No big deal. Restaurant is very new and clean. Service was fine. Food comes out a little too quick. Meaning that it was mostly pre done. Had the traditional duck that was very popular. It was decent and worth getting. House special traditional chicken was nice as well. The sauce was too salty though Sweet and sour pork had way too much batter. Very poor. Hakka style tofu with minced pork was ok. Beware. It's very hot temperature wise. Shunde style squid cake was too oily. If you have this with vinegar it tastes like stuffed crab claws. Handmade fish paste and water grass. It's ok and very clean tasting. Nothing special

Must make a reservation here which my mother in-law did for us. They have small, medium and large tables. There were 7 of us and we sat at the medium tables. We ordered a lot of dishes so there was hardly any space for our food or to move properly, we made do. Service is quick, you just have to write your order down and check what you like. They use a plastic-like menu and wipeable marker. Food was not bad, the duck was not that good, hardly any meat, mostly bones. The clams were okay. The white egg and shrimp dish was just regular. Best dish in my opinion was the beef brisket and tomato. The beef was very tender. I wouldn't come here again unless my in-laws want to. Rating: 3.5/5

The food was tasty/good and authentic. However we felt really rushed since everything came very quickly. The restaurant was quite busy so the pressure to quickly eat and leave was there. The staff was also quite good and friendly. Best to book your table ahead of time.

Hmm.... I'm disappointed but not upset. I also don't think the food is bad. I teetered at a 2.5 rating and was unsure whether to round up to 3 or round down to 2. Ultimately, I've decided to round down. Lemme explain. So this resto is fairly new, having taken over the unit that John's BBQ used to sit in (they might've also bought out the unit next door and joined it because I don't rmbr John's being that big). It serves Shunde style cuisine (a region in Guangdong) which is basically still technically canto food but with certain specialty dishes that aren't typical of HK cuisine. Anyways, the first thing my family and I noticed was the amount of light that is let in to this place. TONS of natural light in addition to all the added potlights in the ceiling make this place very naturally bright. Atmosphere-wise it's pleasant because you feel like you're dining in a cafe rather than a restaurant. We made a reservation so we were able to sit right away. Here's what we ordered: Char siu (shunde style): While the flavour was good, the char siu was simply WAY too fatty. Like almost 3/4 of each piece was super fatty. While I've read that this is authentic, I actually prefer HK style char siu more I think. Pan fried squid pancakes: Exceptionally mid. If I were to make a wild guess here, I'd think these were not made in-house as they tasted like something we could've bought in the frozen goods section of a store and cooked ourselves at home. Braised duck: Good dish. Duck was tender, flavourful and since it's left on top of a candle at the table, stays warm. Salt baked chicken: Really not that special. The meat wasn't particularly tender or moist and we felt like we could've gotten this dish with the exact same preparation elsewhere. Sweet n' sour pork: Personally, I thought the sns pork was the best dish of the night as I thought it had a good ratio of fat and meat in each piece. My fam felt differently as they thought the pieces were still too fatty. The crunch was insane on each piece though and the sauce was great. One of the fruits they use in this sns pork is cantaloupe which I've never encountered in all the sns porks I've eaten so far which was cool. Must be a Shunde thing. Stir fried choi sum: We tried to order water spinach as it should be a prominent veggie in Shunde cuisine. Guess what.... sold out LOL. Like this is around 6:30pm prime dinner time. How are you already sold out of it? Anyways, the choi sum was aiight. I actually thought it was slightly undercooked but whatever. Stir fried vermicelli: Salty. Big portion. Good filler dish. Lots of toppings mixed in. So as a summary, we pretty much ordered all of the "recommended" or famous Shunde items from the menu (which is only 2 sides btw). In addition to my comments above about quality, I haven't mentioned the price yet which is REALLY where I had to go down to 2 stars as opposed to rounding up to 3. So ... nothing tasted BAD per se ... With the exception of the sns pork and the vermicelli, the other dishes were small compared to identical dishes at some of the more established restos in Richmond Hill or Markham. Factoring in that the food also didn't live up to any of the online hype and you have a resto that serves small portions, with average taste and expensive pricing (as far as traditional canto restos go). Idk if I'd be a return customer tbh. Most likely one and done. At least we tried it while it was viral.

Tried this place for the first time and the reviews are actually legit. I'd say I ordered with pretty high expectations based on their reviews & they still managed to impress me. The food is super flavourful, portions are solid, and everything is packed really well in large containers so nothing gets squished or soggy (huge plus for delivery). Even the soups came in mason jars, which I've honestly never seen before. It's a bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. Everything we ordered was great, but the duck and pork rib dishes were hands-down my favourite. Would 100% order again!

It has been a while since this store opened and every time we passed by, there were people waiting. Although we were not interested in joining the crowd, the curiosity cannot be stopped for us to give it a try. This Saturday, we arrived very early at 5:00pm and there was one table available. We ordered eel pot $48, fish stomach $23 and seafood porridge $26, the total comes at $130 after tax and tip for only 3 dishes. The food is unique, the volume is pretty big, the taste and quality are not too bad, but don't have wow effect either. The service is cold as most of the waiters look stressed and don't want to give a smile or even one extra word. We didn't know how to order, there was a pen on the table with a menu, are we supposed to mark it on the menu? It doesn't seem to be environmentally friendly system. When we asked how to order, didn't get any answer either. Well, it seems they are not worried about customers as there is always a line up. The interior is beautiful and bright, lots of potentials. Hope they can improve the service and make it more welcoming atmosphere.

Pretty average restaurant overall. Food comes out exceptionally fast. Clean venue. Service is sufficient. Food quality is pretty mixed and overall salty or oily. Had sweet and sour pork, duck, squid cake, tofu , chicken, and a fish ball soup. Sweet and sour pork is over breaded but ok. Chicken is fine. Duck is salty. Tofu is ok. Squid is a massive miss.

The food is average but very pricey, the style of cooking and restaurant menu are very similar to those in china , lights are too bright, table settings are not comfortable, we paid 90 dollars for two mains and one small soup and one dessert, I don't think I will go back again

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

Once you've filled it out, a staff member will review and enter the order and return your order form with a copy of the kitchen's order. As your items arrive, the server will check it off the list. Double check your list and/or call someone over if anything is taking too long. Everything we ordered seemed to have been freshly made to order so the first few dishes does take a bit of time, about 5-10 mins before the whole order was completed in about 30 mins. The atmosphere at Lobster Port is very bright and open, they have a decently high ceiling and good spacing between tables and have separate private dining rooms for private events/parties. The service and plating is very professional and upscale as well. The tea service comes in three pots, the hot water pot to refill the brewing pot, which you use to refill the serving pot, which itself is on a tea light to keep it warm. The tea is strong and refills are free as expected at a Chinese restaurant. They have a cash discount on the menu if you eat in early on M-F excluding holidays. We ordered... - the deep fried taro pork dumpling: the taro is very fresh and not oily - the steamed signature bbq pork rice noodle roll: the filling is very well balanced and fully stuffs the rice noodles and sticks very well to it, it is the best dish by far of all the Dim Sum I've tried - the lotus leaf sticky rice was very fragrant and stuffed with fillings - the pan fried turnip cake was super soft and fluffy - the siu mai was so large it looks like two in one - the har gow was massive and filled to the brim - the steamed spare ribs with taro: was pretty mid, it's good but nothing special - the crispy crusted baked sago pudding: was interesting, eat it right when it comes out to be fresh and hot, but can definitely pass on this, its basically like a hot rice pudding Overall, the food was very balanced, clean tasting, not oily, and under seasoned (in a good way). Their soy sauce is very light and fragrant and goes with everything well. Will definitely be coming back to try the buns and other steams items.

They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me.
