This place is AWESOME! I was visiting from Hawaii and was looking for a good pool room with a bar & great food. Thanks to yelp users I selected The Billiard Den for the ratings & comments (and smoking is allowed-CHEEHOO!). If you're looking a bar with a relaxed hometown feel, great homemade tasting food & prices and great hospitality, THIS IS IT! From the moment I walked in I was greeted by Marcy (owner) and Brandy (bartender/waitress). They were so friendly and down to earth, and talked with me as I had my lunch (AWESOME honey bbq & lemon pepper wings with fries-just like mom would make for game days!). I told them I was from out of town and chose them from looking on yelp. I then got to meet the infamous Kim (waitress). Kim is great! We had a good laugh about the comments I read about her on yelp, but those people must just be a55h0L35 or babies. She's a REAL, grounded & hardworking woman who says it like it is; if you cant handle it, oh well, check yourself. This place was so great I stayed to watch the dart tournament and pool league in the evening and had dinner there too (Philly Cheese Steak-SOOO GOOD). All the patrons were so friendly and respectful to each other; great southern values and hometown style (quite akin to the Aloha Spirit) A few people struck up conversations with me even though they didn't know me. Aloha Charlie, I didn't get to thank you before I left since you were playing in the pool league. Brandy (lunch waitress) & Eleanor (dinner waitress) both gave excellent service and recommendations. MAHALO NUI (great big thank you!) to Marcy (thank you for the t-shirt souvenir), John, Brandy, Kim, Eleanor, Kiki, Steve (patron who let me play 9-ball with him), and all of the staff! I hope to visit again if I make it back near Richardson. Lawrence, thank you to you too-RIP. I wanted to add that the pool room is very spacious with lots of great tables, not cheap stuff, well maintained with fast cloth (Simonis?). The only room I've ever been to with bar, 7', 8', 9' & snooker tables, darts & ping pong (if there's no dart tournament going on). Prices are so reasonable too. The regulars I spoke to keep coming back for the same reasons I spoke of in my other post, even though they live up to an hour away. read more

My friend and I were having a great night playing some table tennis and my friend left the waitress a more than 100% tip because she reminded him of his mom. I had one beer and my friend had a topo Chico which is a non alcoholic beverage. Upon exiting the facility a bouncer or ID checker whatever you want to call it told my friend not to be stupid and carry out an open container outside of the bar. Once again topo Chico is a non-alcoholic sparkling water beverage for anyone who is not aware. This man proceeds to insult the intelligence of my friend and I and argues with my friend about taking it outside. We start to get irritated and finally when I say I'm a customer to the guy he says I'm the owner and I don't care then I started to get mad. This man I'm pretty sure is not the owner and he is just an ID checker. He told me you can leave right now and then proceeded to tell my friend if I'm not drunk then I am just an asshole. That is a very nice ending to a very good evening especially given the fact that my friend tipped $25 on the $23 tab. I hate pricks who try to be macho and bully other people it is disgusting. I have never seen a bar in my life prevent somebody from exiting with a non-alcoholic beverage that is just absurd. This guy is a ginger dude with a beard. If there is a tournament here on any day, don't expect to ever be let on to an 8 foot table. They often have 5 or more open tables and won't allow regular customers to use them at any point. Good tables, good wait staff, extremely poor management. read more

Love this place. They have some really classic, but well cared for pool tables of different sizes - something for everyone. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is a large place with lots of different rooms and games. The bar area is tucked away on the west side and, a personal favorite of mine, the bar stool height and bar height are at an optimal ratio so your arms are never uncomfortable resting on the bar. (Also the wooden elbow railing is another favorite thing of mine.) Had a burger with pablano(?) pepper and cream cheese. I would not have thought it was in line with my taste pallet but OMG it was so freaking good!!! Randy, recommended it and I cannot thank him enough. Good pool, good karaoke, good drinks, good service. So, you may ask, why only 1 star? SMOKE. Unfortunately, there is so much that I can't even go here. Otherwise they would have a crap ton of money because I would go all the time. It is so bad I LITERALLY feel sick when I walk in....which I don't anymore. There are a lot of drink specials each night, but the place is really smokey. There are a lot of pool tables, and two ping pong tables. I go to play ping pong but after being in there for 30 mins I smell like I been smoking for a week! read more

The "pitcher" was the size of a normal sofa glass and the shiner was $5. I have the receipt. There is also a way to ask someone to do something and if you were approached the way I was in your place.. you wouldn't come back either. Good luck to you. read more

Changed my review and rated this place to 1 star or less if i could , kem the waitress she is so disrespectful and rude person , i wish the owner of this place can see this . If you go there just ask for Laura or Hana , they are so nice and friendly . I used to be in the place twice a week but not any more until kem is gone . Here is what i wrote few moths ago . I like karaoke night ... I sung I got a little cancer( I don't smoke) but it's alright it was just for a few hours. Really the drinks were about what you'd expect. Very crowded but I enjoyed that / they were amazingly fun. If it was dead the experience would of not been worth it. All and all I'm happy / I got to scratch out sing in front of strangers at a bar on my bucket list. I recommends if you can handle the smoke try it .... read more

I've been coming to the den off and on for years, and every time I go I seem to have a great time no matter what! Tuesday and Saturday nights bring karaoke to the Den, and lucky for them they have THE best karaoke show and host in D/FW to treat their guests to a fun experience! Little Sister Productions has been "Queen" of the karaoke scene for a long time, and Lisa knows exactly how to cater in the perfect atmosphere to accommodate the Billiard Den guests. Obviously they have billiard tables everywhere, and they also have a few pin ball/arcade games, including the infamous Golden Tee 2020, but what tops this place off for me is that they have PING PONG TABLES!!! I hope everyone leaves them a good solid review because they deserve it...I knew the original owner and he was a very genuinely nice, outgoing man who always treated me like part of his family...I don't forget things like that...so please support these guys...order some food, find a game, sing a song, and enjoy all the festivities!! This place redefines the word "dive". The up side is that they have great pool tables, and a bunch of them! The down side is that, although the drinks are cheap, they have little to no alcohol in them (buy beer), and the service is rude. If you are a billiard guy, you will be impressed by the lay out, otherwise, beware. They have "regulars" who are nice, but the owner is a young kid who doesn't have a clue. This place used to be a grocery store, that should give you an idea of how big it is. From any corner you're looking over a sea of regulation pool tables, all clean, level and well spaced. There are plenty of dart boards as well as a man cave with 3 dart boards and a big screen TV which is great for practice or just tossing a few with friends. read more

I don't like bars much but I do like playing pool and drinking without people bothering me, and when I come here no one ever bothers me and there's always a pool table available. Hi, I'd like a cheap drink with a side of country-rock and a dash of shady. Oh you have that! PERFECT. The Billiard Den is a pool hall with a bar that sort of seems like it just happened. There is specials galore- free pool on some nights, shot specials, dollar off this and that. It's pretty awesome. Oh and they totally have a jukebox chock with country friend music and classic rock. This is a place for the hardcore billiard man or woman to get their game on and have a stiff drink while doing it. We played a few games, racked up a cheap bar tab, and perused the delicious looking menu with it's wacky prices. The crowd was chill and the waitresses were sweet. The place is definitely hidden. It's to the back of a lot on Arapaho across from Taco Bell and where Carmen's used to be, next to the Peace Pipe Cafe. It's not a whole lot to look at but its definitely fun for drinking and chilling. Who knew Richardson had such a cool little dive? read more

I live in Desoto, south of Dallas, drive to the Billiard Den in Richardson because they DO ALLOW smoking !! If you don't like smoke, go to one of the hundreds of pool halls in Dallas where they control your life. This is a fun place where they let you be yourself, drink, smoke, have fun.
