I came here a while back, and I really enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere of the outdoors seating. Everyone was wearing masks, and was following proper protocol. However, while my friends got their orders, mine came out much later. The workers seemed to know this, and seemed to work hard to get my food out. I ordered the Hoss, the Pulled Pork, and the tator tots. Overall, everything was solid but nothing super impressed me. I beieve the Pulled Pork was the favorite one out of the ones that I got. The sauce was decent, and the pork flavorful. Really only three ingredients, but everything worked together well. The Hoss was okay. The chicken was juicy, but they went really light on the gravy. The gravy itself was just okay, and needed more flavor itself. The tator tots was pretty good. The outside was crispy, and the inside was tender enough and not dry, which can be an issue sometimes. Came on a Sunday for brunch and it was packed. They have indoor and outdoor seating which is nice and the boardwalk plaza is a great atmosphere and spot to walk around and eat. That being said, the layout of this place sucks. If you dine outdoors they have a station for you to put dirty dishes, throw away trash and grab condiments. That station is blocked when there's a line outside so people are weaving through constantly. When you're inside, the silverware and drink station is also next to the line of people so you're weaving through that too. I got a salad which took longer to make/come out than all my friends' biscuit sandwiches. The salad itself was good, the chicken was moist which is a plus considering it's breast meat, but the dressing was salty. Overall I didn't have the worst or best experience, just meh. There's outdoor seats, bar seatings, and a few regular indoor seatings. There is a line where you wait to order your food first right when you walk in. When you order, they give you a sign with your number that lets the server know where you're at. It's first come first serve seatings anywhere. We sat on a bench outside patio. Such nice views. You can take your food to go and sit right in front of the pond where they have lots of patio style seatings. No alcohol beyond their patio though unless you put it in a to go cup. The prices are decent, and food is so good! We ordered the fancy chicken (it tastes like Chick-Fil-A's chicken and biscuit, but this one tastes better and is a bigger portion), the chicken not a waffle (wow, so good!), coffee (self serve right behind the order counter), and a tequila sunrise (they don't skimp on the alcohol, so yum!). This place was my very first taste of Texas and it's hospitality and southern charm. We were in town, first time visiting Texas, to check out a house. We were staying at a nearby hotel and this place caught my family's eyes when we drove pass from the freeway. We came in and we were welcomed and greeted by every staff that night. Food was very good. Almost everything was smothered in gravy but in a comforting kinda way. Portions are just right yet satisfying. Ordering multiple items is kind of a must if you wish to get a full experience . You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. No issue with parking and a nice view of the boardwalk if you wish to seat outside. A year and a half later, we now live part of the time in Texas. We come home to Texas about every 2 months and we always make it a point to stop by and eat at this joint. Food is consistently great but service just finds a way to be more-remarkable-than-the-last-visit each time we dine. We were just there again 2 weeks ago and as usual, we were constantly checked on by every staff to make sure we were well taken care of. Abdul even came out of the kitchen to introduce himself and treated us to a nice, delectable dessert. I would even go as far as saying that our first visit to this place is what made us move to Texas. Lol. But seriously, if you want great food and great, genuine hospitality, you come here. I recently tried the Biscuit Bar for a late breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy and took my wife home a bacon egg and cheese biscuit. They were delicious. The gravy was delicious and the biscuits were light and fluffy. It was so good that we returned twice more and ate the same thing. We did order the loaded tater tots which were tasty but the tots were not fully cooked. On Friday night we returned around dinner time. I ordered a Hoss biscuit and my wife order a Philly biscuit. We also ordered the loaded tots and asked for them crispy. The biscuits were as hard as a rock. The sausage gravy had no sausage. The bacon was half raw and half cooked. The cheese was also cold. It was a $10 biscuit that was disgusting. I could not eat it. Oddly enough the loaded tots were delicious this time. We were the only ones in the restaurant.. consistency is key. If you are not prepared to serve a fresh dinner then you should not serve anything. They changed their Hot Chicken sauce. It used to be red and full of flavor. Now it's just a clear oil, no taste, bland. I've asked to extra sauce on the side and it's completely different from what it used to be. 9/10 times Ive ordered the holiday style tots and change it to regular tots from sweet potatoes tots, it comes out wrong. On my most recent visit and check-in to have some of the best biscuits in town i realized i had failed to do my review. I knew i was behind in my reviews but this was just unconscionable. They have a great patio. While not large it is usually big enough to find a seat after ordering. This trip was on a Monday night and lots of room to socially distance. They have a nice view of the lake and a great place to hang out. They have a full bar and lots of custom adult beverages. Most of my visits my go to move is the Chicken and Not a Waffle. It is a fun breakfast play and the biscuit is made into a French toast with fresh whipped cream. However, this trip i went for the close cousin of the Monte Cristo. It is the French toast waffle with grilled ham and turkey with cheese and strawberry jam. Tried the Hot Chicken biscuit as well and it is a winner. I had the Banana pudding for dessert but also had to try the Hot Chocolate Biscuit. The banana pudding is fresh and obviously made in house. Absolute awful experience on Saturday! So unorganized! They had about 50 biscuits ready to deliver to table in window just getting cold without delivery. Waited 40 minutes for a to-go biscuit--You have to be kidding me! Asked for update from young girl at register and she refused to check on order at 30 minute mark stating they were backed up and had an attitude. I just wanted to make sure my order didn't get overlooked by accident. They needed more food runners!!! Would've been best if they had 2 food runners with someone manning the window. Tater tots - unseasoned and they had a nice crunch to them. Southern Style Tater tots - it was good the first few bites but then it became too heavy. The sausage gravy was perfectly seasoned but there wasn't any sausage. Monte Cristo - my favorite biscuit here! The strawberry preserve worked well with the turkey, ham, and jack cheese. I thought it was going to be super sweet but it wasn't. I even forgot the biscuit was french toast style. It would have been better if the strawberry reserve didn't taste artificial. Hot Hot Chicken - the oil from the fried chicken soaked the biscuit at the bottom so I only had the top half of the biscuit. Sent management an email a week ago and since they have declined to respond, I'll let everyone else know what I let them know: This is honestly the first time I've ever sent an email like this, but the experience my girlfriend and I had tonight was shockingly poor. We entered your restaurant tonight (11/06/24) at 7:35 [adding for this review that this was an hour and a half before posted close time] and stopped a few moments in line to look at the menu since it was our first time. There were a few people sitting at tables, but it was otherwise pretty dead, so before we even approached the counter we double checked y'all's hours of operation to make sure we wouldn't be holding anyone past closing time. We have both worked hospitality jobs and would never want to be disrespectful to staff. When we got to the counter, there was a young woman with dark shoulder-length hair, dark round glasses, a hat, and a choker. From the get-go, we were made to feel extremely unwelcome. Everything she said to us was in a tone of pure disgust, she yelled at the back of the house rudely, and when we ordered drinks she muttered under her breath about being frustrated because she had already closed the bar and didn't want to make them. We paid, and tipped, and sat down, but it didn't end there. When she brought the order to the table, she literally flung the biscuits, tots, and ranch across the table so dramatically it was almost funny. The next gentleman who came in ordered and was a service member, and this same employee rolled her eyes as she yelled to who I would presume was a supervisor that she needed an override for the military discount. Needless to say, we shoved our meal down our throats as we were so uncomfortable we wanted to get out as soon as possible, but in the few minutes we were eating, she was aggressively pacing around the restaurant halfway closing things, cursing, slamming doors, and throwing around cleaning supplies. When all was said and done we were out of the restaurant by 8:00, a full hour before closing time and what was an experience that we were excited for turned into a nightmare. The only other thing I'll mention is that the drink I ordered (blackberry tequila smash) was very poorly mixed. I only managed to force myself to drink a third of it, and if you knew me, you'd know I hate to waste tequila! ----------------------------- Anyway, would avoid this establishment at all costs if you value your dignity. read more

The concept of NOT having a waiter/waitress makes no sense to me. I arrived here on Saturday, October 12th with friends and stood in line for 12-15 minutes to get the first round of drinks for the table. Then another friend stood in line for our second round of drinks. When it was time to order food we decided to leave and try another brunch spot because the idea of having to stand in line every single time you want to order something is beyond me. The place is located at the center of this huge open area, you order at the counter, get a number sign, and then wait for the servers to bring it out to your table. We went on a Saturday afternoon, the line was out the door, but it moved very quickly. They make the dough from scratch and the creative ways they pair the biscuits made it an even better experience. Biscuits were fluffy and moist. They might not look amazing, but the flavors make up for it. We shared the biscuit and sausage gravy, monte cristo, and hot honey biscuit. The Monte Cristo was our favorite - ham, smoked turkey, jack cheese, on a french toast biscuit, strawberry preserve - talk about creativity! Everything worked so well together.
