The Buffalo wings are the best thing in the menu! Always on point and consistent. The service is good in the bar area, it's always packed on the weekend but I still enjoy going. Music is pretty loud so be prepared for that but it's a good spot to go when I come back home to visit. I really want to come for brunch next time! But I keep missing the time that it ends...

My family and I went for Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday. I recommend having a reservation because they are crowded on Sundays. There is a Dj who plays a nice mix of current and old school music. Service is was fast and my food was good. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The potatoes and eggs needed salt and pepper, but they didn't require a lot. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food and we had a good time vibing to the music without it being too loud. I will definitely be back.

We made a Saturday reservation for opening time. It was nice to get in before it got crowded. The live DJ was a nice touch. I am picky about my wings but these were a 10! They weren't dry & had the perfect amount of sauce. The jalapeno shrimp & grits were good too! I enjoyed everything I ordered. But that price... whew. We spent about $75pp and it was one appetizer 2 entrees and one cocktail. My side of eggs was $8 alone. It was my first time eating here so I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed it.

Food - I had the spicy chicken sandwich and fries. The chicken was grilled but it definitely held its flavor and juiciness. As for the chipotle sauce ask for it on the side because it did make the sandwich HOT, lol. If you're not used to heat I suggest you get something else. The sandwich was 10/10 but what would have taken it to the next level would have been some BACON!!!!!!! The fries were temperature hot and I love my food hot to the touch. The sweet potato cheesecake was tasty. My friend stated it was equivalent to a coffee cake, but I think that it was more in line with a carrot cake. Also got a piece of the lemon cake which was served warm...it was yummy also. Service - was quick; the server was personable. Ambience- it's a cute little spot...it's small and quaint 18% gratuity for all checks If your visiting to Detroit or even if you are a native go to The Block, you won't be disappointed

Recently visited Detroit and The Block was recommended. Upon entry, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server made great recommendations and they were spot on! The portion sizes were great as well. I had the shrimp and tacos, and my friend had the burgers. All were super delicious! I definitely want to come back and try their brunch.

Oh my goodness! It was great to be in the D and visit with the amazing team at The Block. The food and the service was excellent. The culture is alive and kicking in this bar and kitchen! Live DJ during our brunch too and fun to meet Chef Kenny Parker!

We were in town for the Detroit Tigers opening day game and looking support black-owned businesses or restaurants. We found this place and we are not disappointed. The hostess who greeted us when we walked in was all smiles and super friendly. She sat us on the side where the bar is but there was also a side with nothing but tables so if you didn't want to be near the bar you didn't have to be. There was plenty of light from the huge windows in the front. The menu you access by scanning a QR code and it comes up as a PDF on your phone. The menu is a bit limited but I think that's so that they can focus on what they do well and that is definitely the wings! The wings had some sweet chili on them and everybody was eating them so we had to try them and they were absolutely amazing! They were fried hard like we like them, super sticky and sweet, and not huge like you wonder what was done to them to make them grow so big. Haha. The burger was delicious also; it was juicy and crunchy on the edges and a nice size especially considering it was like a $20 Burger (I took a star for this) . The prices were a bit high but you pay for the quality I guess. I also got a drink called "Say Less" which the name alone cracks me up. It was lemonade raspberry and dusse. This drunk was $16. Good but the bartender has a heavy hand, FYI if you driving. We also got something called shotgun shrimp which was similar to boom boom shrimp but not as saucy. Also great. Esp with these little things that look like cherries but they weren't there were some kind of pepper little red pepper. Yum! Plenty of street parking. It's also within walking distance of Wayne State University and a bakery. There's lots of seating. The food came really fast and fresh. The walls are decorated in really cool art that it seems to be locally done as it references midtown and the cass corridor of Detroit. I definitely plan to go back here and would urge anyone to stop by. Even on our way out the hostess asked us if we needed a bag and then bagged it for us ...we had two little boxes. Lol. It was a really friendly inviting atmosphere and the food was great and I would come back anytime.

When you walk into the place it feels like you are being invited into a home. The customer service is just like that. The wood tables and stools are actually comfortable. Nice music in the background and the painted murals on the walls is cool. The salad was delicious. The salmon was seasoned just right. It was enough of a salad for two servings. I'd highly recommend this place.

My first visit here was on my birthday in 2025. I tried the Woodward wings with buffalo sauce and the spinach dip and I couldn't stop thinking about it ever since! I decided to go solo this past Sunday during brunch and it was lit. They had a live DJ and the throwback music was everything. This time I tried the shrimp n grits with a side of scrambled eggs and the Boozy punch and that little punch had me leaning okayyy?! I loved the energy of this place both times. I would recommend you get there early if you are doing brunch or make a reservation (if you can get one). I will definitely be back for the food and vibes!!

A lil on the spicy side but pretty tasteful and fulfilling app for happy hour. I would order again. Spent a Saturday early evening at the bar and it was pretty crowded. Reservations were encouraged for table seating. Staff were nice.

Slightly short staffed but never a long wait. Food is always hot, delicious and fresh. Bartender makes the perfect drink every time. Walking distance to Garden Bowl, Majestic Theater and the Medical District.

What a beautiful time! Came on Mothers Day weekend Saturday for brunch. From the time we walked in, the atmosphere was fabulous! We didn't have reservations, but we did arrive close to the time of opening. We waited less than 10 minutes for a table, so that was exciting! The staff was amazing and the DJ was top-notch! The drinks, the food, all wonderful. We were laughing and singing the entire time. We even got up and hustled, per the dj request. There is an 18% gratuity per table, so be aware of that. The service is exceptional, so I feel that's appropriate. I can definitely see myself returning.

We were in town for a concert at the Majestic Theater. It was easy to make reservations for a Saturday night. I parked on the side street for $4 without realizing that I was literally across the street from the parking garage that I booked for the concert . So there are several inexpensive places to park! When we sat down at a high top, the menu is via QR code. I prefer a physical menu and surprisingly so does my friend who is much younger than me! We had a great friendly server who was patient with us when trying decide what to order. She did recommend the spinach artichoke dip and their wings but we opted for no appetizers. We saw the dip en route to another table and it looked amazing! I ordered the strawberry harvest salad with grilled chicken, feta, pecans and balsamic dressing. It was delicious and a huge portion! My friend ordered the avocado Greek salad with chicken and devoured it. My husband had the salmon BLT with fries, which were hot and crispy! We couldn't think about dessert but our server recommended the sweet potato cheesecake which sounded intriguing. I knew from previous reviews that it would be loud and it was but I didn't feel like I had to yell to have a conversation. There are 2 unisex restrooms available.

From the second you walk in, it's obvious this place isn't just another bar -- it's a neighborhood hangout with serious personality. The menu is packed with attention-grabbing comfort bar food that goes way beyond typical pub grub -- think flavorful sandwiches, crispy fries, and dishes that pair insanely well with a cold drink. One of the best parts? Wednesday night trivia. It's the kind of event that turns a midweek night into a destination night. Lauren took great care of us and encouraged us to order whatever we were craving. Dangerous advice, but we happily accepted . Warning - the ratings are real. They're not a mistake. We started with our usual cocktail, the Instant Karma (5/5). It is the perfect balance of citrus and salt with a light cucumber note. Clean, refreshing, and it pairs well with everything. The roasted sweet potato (6/5) is one of the best vegetable dishes in the city. The caramelized exterior gives way to a soft interior, and the crispy quinoa adds a subtle light crunch that plays against the creamy texture. The salsa macha brings a smoky, nutty depth without the heat, and the crema ties it all together. I had to physically stop myself from scraping the plate (actually they had to take it away ). The tagliatelle (5/5) with beef bolognese and parmesan was flawless. The pasta has that ideal handmade chew, and the bolognese is rich without being heavy. The parmesan blends perfectly into the sauce and stands out in every bite. The potato pierogi (10/5) were the star of the night. Soft potato-filled pillows with horseradish crema, apple, and crispy shallot pieces create this perfect sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy bite. Each forkful felt intentional and balanced. I felt guilty, because in my head, I didn't want to share with my wife, but I did anyways . The cruelty of having to split an odd number of pierogis...well played...we should have just ordered another one. We also ordered the smoked potatoes and the pan roasted half chicken with sauce au poivre (always 5/5 for both) The smoked potatoes, with raclette, and crème fraîche, are always a must. These winter variation was just as good! The chicken remains one of the most consistently well-executed mains in the city. I have tried recreating it at home with the cold pan method and it never comes close. Every time we dine here, it feels like four or five different dinner experiences in one evening. I would recommend all of them, but the standouts for me were the Brussels sprouts and the scallops. Flavors were unique and textures were especially on point with those dishes. The Mac n cheese was good as well but it was probably the weaker item of the other food on the plate. The biscuit was good and flaky and tasted even better with the strawberry butter. The oxtails with the red beans and rice was good, but the fried chicken was better. The bread pudding was good but different. I'm used to bread pudding being served hot with vanilla or butter pecan ice cream sitting on top of it. Their bread pudding was served cold with a whipped substance on top. Since a gratuity had already been added to the bill, the comment felt like subtle pressure to leave an additional tip. Mistakes happen, and we're happy to update this review if the billing issue is resolved. However, between the so-so food, the uncomfortable conversation about tipping, and the possible overcharge, this wasn't the experience we were expecting.

So this is kind of like an upscale dive bar if you thought about a '60s type of style to it. If…read morethat makes any sense. We have a lot of retro vibe going on, but it has a little hint of modernness though with the history. You'll come in and and you'll hear music playing in the background and it's a little bit aged, but it's a really chill vibe and it's not going to be the party kind of music you're looking for. Which is okay if that's not what you want! I have no issue with the service and everybody was pretty cool. The waitress was super friendly, especially when I couldn't make up my mind because there are so many options lol. It's tree pockets so you have to park on Michigan Ave but there is plenty of it. Depending on what kind of day or night it is though. But just be aware you have to pay for parking. Seasoned fries - the fries come very seasoned and super crispy. You get a ton of them as well. You may not even need ketchup actually. French onion - this burger was good. Came with some onion rings kinda on the side. It was cooked medium and they got it pretty right with the temp. The cheese was melted well and it was seasoned pretty good also. Blt - this was a good BLT and it was very stacked. I'm not sure if you can make it out from the picture but it had plenty of everything on here. The bacon tasted great. Tots - they came out really hot and super crispy and actually gave you a heck of a lot of them too so that definitely helped but these are really good and you didn't even need ketchup.
