The Block is such a hidden gem in St. Louis Park! Since moving to the area, it's quickly become one of my favorite spots. I've been for both trivia and BARGO, and it's always a great time. The inside has an elevated neighborhood bar vibe, and their outdoor "Pawtio" is such a fun touch--they even have a dog menu! On top of that, the service has been excellent every time. Everyone who works there is welcoming, friendly, and attentive, which makes the experience even better. The food is just as impressive, with a great variety of options. This visit, our group started with the Brussels sprouts, then ordered the Wednesday "Whole Damn Bird" special, the Bourbon Peach & Steak Salad, and the Thai Basil Bowl. Every dish was delicious, and I'd happily order any of them again. Overall, another fantastic meal. I can't wait to come back to check out their brunch and lunch menus! read more

This was my first time to The Block. This is another restaurant from Craft and Crew, which operates about 8 restaurants. However, the menu and approach varies by restaurant, so it is by no means a cookie-cutter operation. The Block is an attractive location that includes a restaurant, bar area, and a special outside area for people who want to bring their dogs. (Yes, there is an extensive dog menu, which was not tasted for the purposes of this review -- well, not tasted at all.) I had the Blackened Salmon ($25), which was very attractively presented on a bed of tomatoes, black beans, cucumbers, corn salsa, and an aioli sauce. The salmon was moist and flaky. My wife had the Boasted Chicken Sandwich $17.25 . The sandwich comes with coleslaw, and house pickles on a well-made roll. on a hamburger roll. She also had a glass of Cabernet House for $10, which was pretty good. Service was friendly and competent, but there were periods of time when the waiter was difficult to find. read more

After a first visit, I'm kind of a fan and I went back for a 2nd visit within a week because it is the kind of place that lends itself to an easy, casual, local neighborhood meal when you don't feel like staying at home. There is plenty of street and private lot parking both in their attached small lot but also numerous spaces in the larger lot across the street. I would just use caution crossing the street as it is an uncontrolled intersection and crosswalk to get to it and it is a road that tends to invite speeding and a lack of attention looking for pedestrians. There is a full bar with several house inspired cocktails as well as a moderately large beer list available by UPC. The menu has good variety of items that lean towards churched up comfort pub food. Think Salads, Brisket Grilled Cheese and Broasted Chicken and you will be in the sweet spot genre. The chicken is outstanding! On Wednesday nights, they have Bingo with Chicken on special which was a surprise discovery for me. The gaming was really fun and the meal was awesome and cheaper than expected. That is a win-win in my book! The Block is definitely a solid spot for a casual tavern sort of pick with food and drink that is good and in some cases, borders on great (such as the chicken)! It is a really nice addition to the local dining scene in this area that does not have a lot of good, unique eateries. Found this spot because they have a patio that's dog friendly and decided to give it a try. It's tucked away and has limited parking in front. My server was great with the recommendations. The patio was spacious and had multiple TVs. I ordered the fried rice (special of the week) , bone in chicken wings and I ordered a meal for my dog. The rice was underwhelming, but the broasted chicken wings were sooooo good. I got half dry rub and half Hot chic. Both were delicious along with the ranch. It was a long day of travel so I ordered delivery and I cannot speak much about the ambiance of the restaurant. The food however was delicious. Everything came well packaged for travel, hot, and exactly as ordered. The Caesar salad was fresh and delicious, just would have liked the side of chicken cut up for it. There's just something lovely about getting a few dishes to split when you're out with a friend for lunch. Even more so when the dishes just hit right. Grabbed lunch at @theblockslp in Saint Louis Park this weekend and had a great server (shout out Evan). This was a new spot to try and looking at their menu /food pics I will have to be back to try more things. They do have another location new in Rogers. One extra fun thing about The Block is that they have a dog friendly Pawtio year round! Items we landed on getting and loved: Brisket Nachos (Smokey and perfect balance of flavors) Broasted Chicken Sandwich (SO good with the slaw and flavors of the chicken together for a smooth crispy crunch) There's a lot more I want to check out here so will likely have a second post on these guys down the road. The Block is my go-to spot! You really can't order anything bad here. They have great healthy options like the Brussels sprouts appetizer and grain/rice bowls, but their burgers are just delish! My favorite is the Royale Burger & you can choose either a double or triple depending on how hungry you are! If you're celebrating, definitely get a dessert shake to share with your table! They have lots of fun flavors and toppings! Pro tip: go for Monday trivia or free Bargo Bingo on Wednesdays, plus they have late-night food specials starting at 8pm which makes it a great cheap night out! We stopped into the Block on a sunday afternoon and had a pleasant experience. We ordered one of their amazing bloodys and an espresso martini- equally reeeaaally great. I would stop in again just for those! For our food, it took about an hour to get to us. The server was very kind and told us the kitchen was backed up, but maybe something to think about when youre visiting! I got the vegan jucy lucy and it was SO good! I didnt get the block sauce as I hate BBQ, but the garlic aoili was also a great staple on it! My husband got the french dip and loved it! He got it philly style with the peppers and mushrooms- making it even better. He did say that it was really hard to keep it all together, so expect a bit of a mess. Took my work team out to lunch and we decided we were going to try the Block Food and Drink! First thing I noticed is that it's dog friendly, they welcome dogs on their pawtio, so that's pretty cute! Our server, Katie, was friendly, patient, and helpful- she really helped a few of us indecisive ones decide between different items on the menu. We started off with the Burrata dip and cheese curds. Cheese curds were delicious, good batter and served with a sweet chili sauce (and another one that I didn't try). I've never had a cheese curd with sweet chili sauce but man... that was good! The burrata dip was good, but nothing too special. The recommendation was the broasted chicken or the broasted chicken sandwich so three of us ended up getting the sandwich. We all rated it differently. Mine was the lowest score, to me it was a pretty plain chicken sandwich but to my coworker, she said it was one of the best chicken sandwiches she's ever had! Been on my list for a while and decided to go for brunch. Didnt make reservations or anything, just showed up and got a table pretty quickly. They have a "pawtio" and that area was actually much busier than inside. Plenty of tvs inside, me and my date watched the game, ordered some food and i had a breakfast cocktail. Waitress was friendly enough, even though we witnessed her kind of rushing people out, I'm guessing it's just cause how busy it was. Everything came out in decent time, enjoyed pretty much everything we got and I think the prices were pretty fair. The pacos (pancake tacos) had a spicy jam that was amazing! We've eaten here once before but this was the first time with our grand pup. A review listed this place as very dog friendly and we were watching our granddog for the weekend so we decided to check it out. We were seated on the back patio which was great for our rambunctious pup. The front patio is also lovely but it was full when we got there. They brought water for the pup and cocktails for us. I ordered the pork tacos which were good. It came with salsa and home made tortilla chips. We ordered the bark bites for the pup which were dog cookies with peanut butter, blueberries, and oats. I've always heard good things about The Block. It's kind of tucked away but off of Hwy 7 but easy to find/get to. The parking lot is kind of tight but they do have a smaller on otherwise there's street parking. We went during happy hour, in which they had a few food & drink deals. We got cheese curds which came with a spicy jam (but was more of a chili sauce), bone in wings - dry rub w/ buffalo & ranch on the side. The seasoning on the chicken was good but was very light, could have definitely used a bit more. Also a lot of feathers left on the chicken, otherwise I liked the crispness! We also had a side of fries - which were breaded and also crispy. My sister got the buffalo chicken Mac & cheeses which is her favorite dish there. I came here with some friends for some late night snacks and had such a good time. The dining room was packed, both in the main dining room but also their heated patio area but we were able to get our group of 7 a table after a 10 minute wait. The menu consists of some typical "tavern" like items such as burgers, nachos, flatbreads but are reasonably priced and tasted pretty good. They had a pretty wide selection of alcoholic drinks to choose from but I opted out this time around. One thing we were challenged with was parking. Because this is a popular establishment, parking in their lot was already full and we were forced to park across the street in an auxiliary lot which thankfully wasn't too bad but I could imagine that this could be an inconvenience for others especially if the weather isn't the best. This place was my first exposure to broasted chicken and we'll keep coming back for it + their wings! They're so crispy and juicy (not dry at all)! I think I'll skip on the Mac and cheese as the side last time since there wasn't enough cheese sauce with it and was more like buttered noodles. We got buffalo and the dry rub for the wings but would probably just get the dry rub so the wings stayed crispy. There is a small parking lot next to the restaurant but there's a lot more parking across the street if it does get filled up. I went to The Block for my birthday ~ thanks to a customer loyalty card I received in the mail. It was wonderful! The food is so good, so varied, something for any type of preference. And since it was my birthday I got a free shake with a sparkler in it! SO fun. Also a discount on the entire meal. Sweet corn fritters! Excellent. Grilled cheese sandwich, to good. We always choose the Pawtio, open air, big windows, and way less noise than inside. Also dogs, of course, but even though I am not a dog person, the behavior code for the canines is very effective and I enjoy looking at them. The Block is a go to for its location, quality food, and consistency in the experience. It's slightly pricey but guarantees a good time with good food and good service. FOOD: I've had several menu items including burgers, salads, appetizers, and sandwiches. You can't go wrong though don't expect any fare to be too light as all tends to have a fair grease content. That being said, the options are great. I do have yet to try their broasted chicken which is one of their well known entrees. SERVICE: their service is consistently friendly and calm. Meals here seem to be intended to be more relaxed so don't expect the quickest, rushed experience--that is, for good or for bad. But the friendliness of staff isn't to be overlooked. PARKING: they have a small lot and there is lots of parking on nearby streets. AMBIANCE: they offer a nice heated patio and indoor area. Stopped in for an early dinner and to watch the wild game. There was a little bit of a wait but nothing crazy. The food was really good. I got the hot honey chicken sandwich which is the month special. They have a huge menu with so many things that look good. I have been here before for happy hour and the Buffalo cauliflower, pretzels, and cheese curds are great. With that being said unfortunately our waitress was not the best. I think it's because we were a group of young people. She didn't check on us very often and it took forever to order and have her bring us our check when we were done. When we asked for a to go box she looked inconvenienced. All the rest of the staff was great; other people checked on us and made sure our food was good and that we didn't need anything else. I ordered the Mission Fig burger because I do like figs and goat cheese, so it seemed like a good combination. I like that you can choose "Pink or No pink" for your burger, but the patties are smashed which means there's no real way to cook them except well done. It was good, but the figs are small and dried (see photo) so all they really added was crunch. I did not care for arugula on a burger because its peppery flavor was lost and it was very limp. I paid for a side of onion marmalade that I did not receive. Kudos on the onion rings! They were huge and the cornmeal breading had a delightful crunch. The side of mac & cheese was really bland. Boxed Mac & cheese has more flavor. I do appreciate the all-compostable containers because we have commercial composting through our trash company. read more

Disappointing Mother's Day brunch. The food was OK ran out of eggs Benedict. When I went back twice to see if it was reloaded, it hadn't been. Our waiter was less than great. Rarely came back to our table, never refilled waters and never bussed our dirty plates until we placed them at the very end of the table. We thought at $40 per person the brunch would offer a whole lot more. Moms were supposed to receive a free mimosa but when the bill came, my husband noticed we were charged for it. Last time I wen to the block was couple of summers ago for dinner but couple of weekends ago I decided to try out their brunch menu. It was still like I remembered it: the pups can hangout on the patio, there's parking by the restaurant, across the street and street parking and decor still looked familiar. I went closer to the end of brunch time and was given options of where to sit so I chose the area by the bar with 3 tv screens because football was on. My waitress was helpful and attentive and even the rest of the staff were so friendly. I got the paco since I was feeling a bit adventurous and wanting something refreshing to drink so decided on the cucumber mint lemonade. My stuffed pancakes were tasty and loved the idea of "taco" style breakfast and enjoyed the lemonade except it was a bit too sweet for me but once I asked for extra ice it was perfect. The vibe was relaxing and felt like a true weekend plus there was no rush of needing the table which I appreciated a lot!
