About 10 min later, we were shuttled into the separate bar to be seated. Once there, we waited again. Other parties arrived in bar but began to be served first. FINALLY we got a server. We were traveling through Moab looking for a place that was dog friendly and we saw this restaurant on Yelp. We were seated on the patio that had misters and it was comfortable even though it was hot outside. The server was very friendly and she brought the dogs fresh water. The food was tasty. We had the ribs and brisket. There were three BBQ sauces to choose from: Texas, Kansas City, and Carolina. There were gluten free options on the menu. All the staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. Will stop in again. read more

Stopped by for the BBQ after a long drive in. Great service. Rib eye was a little fatty but was super tender and great tasting. Mushrooms rocked. Full rack of baby back ribs was a dry rub with an incredible bark on it. Blues music in the background is an awesome twist to the BBQ scene as I waded through the pile of baby backs. Came here with my family while we were in town. We were told we could only sit outside if we had a dog, who does this? We did have a dog so we had him come sit with us only to find the outside area mostly empty. We were served by Evelyn. I asked for the ribs & brisket to come from the point/deckle and the waitress asked what two kinds of meat I would like. I again explained my selection of ribs and deckle. I should have known better because when my food came out, the brisket was really really dry and the area I asked for is juicy as. Which IDK if they, didn't have the part I asked for and just didn't tell me, didn't know what I was asking for so just gave me the plate of we don't care or didn't know what I was asking for. This is sad if you are going to work at a BBQ joint and some says what part they want if you don't know don't be a dick and just give them a stfu plate that's $30. I asked of they had any hot bbq sauce they brought me a little thing of Cajun BBQ that was hot as a seedless jalapeño I was hoping for more of a hot like habanero or hotter. We were not impressed with this place. The food was ok - we ordered the big nasty fries with tri tips. They were fine but not wow this is delicious good - as you would expect from the really good sounding description. We also got wings which were big and juicy and pretty good. They have only 4 flavors to choose from and 3 of them are bbq variations. The garlic buffalo is not buffalo at all, but still pretty good. Number one complaint is that I asked to taste two of their draft beers and was charged a dollar for each one!! I was not told that when I asked AND I ordered one of them as my drink. I could understand charging if the person doesn't end up ordering one, but it came off as a cheap nickel and dime trick and left a really bad taste in my mouth for the place. We ate lunch here yesterday. The waitress was super attentive. We sat outside because we had a dog and I kindof thought we may get forgotten out there but she was on top of it. She even set our table with a bowl of water on the ground for the puppy. We ordered the BBQ brisket. It was really great and the portion sizes were perfect to share. I wanted a large dinner sized chicken salad, so I asked the server if it was pretty good sized. He replied that he'd never seen anyone finish one, and that they are really big. Sounded good to me, but when it came out, it was not that big. Tasty, but I could have eaten another and just barely been full. I left hungry and had to go home and have a bowl of cereal. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Our group had to keep shutting the door to the patio to avoid being frozen by the breeze that kept coming in. read more

We went into town during a camping trip to help out the local economy during the government shutdown. The Blu Pig was still hoppin', meaning that locals must keep the place alive even when tourist numbers are slim. We had 8 adults with 7 kids under 11 years old, but were welcomed, kids and all. Our server was terrific, the owner (Patty) hovered to make sure everyone was happy, and the place was clean. The food was very good - get the ribs or pork sandwich. They should hook up with local breweries as the beer selection could be more robust. We'll be back next time we're in Moab. read more

The complimentary corn bread was absolutely the best! I split the full rack of baby back ribs with the wifey and for $28 it was a bargain. So much very delicious ribs that just flack right off. You don't need to add the BBQ sauce it is so good the way it is. read more

A few of my friends and I were in Indian Creek climbing and came up to Moab to eat. We were famished, anything sounded good to eat, and we saw the blue light beacon that is the Blue Pig. We wanted to love this place - for God's sake we had stared at cows all day that were near where we were climbing. Lets start off with the good: Service was nice enough, live band which was cool, and nice decor. Now, for the bad... The food took forever to come out, which fine, it was busy, but it was quite possibly the most bland BBQ any of us had ever had. I am far from a BBQ snob, and I was very underwhelmed. The price tag for this bland BBQ was very high as well, at about $18 for the plate i ordered. $18 for bad food? Never again. When you have three guys who are starving from climbing all day and super stoked for BBQ, and the consensus was that the place was noteworthy bland and bad....something is up. Their location and exterior decor lured us in, but no repeat customers here. read more

Great place to have a beer and BBQ. Good local beer selection if you want a good UT beer. We had Unita beer and redrock brewery brown ale. I had ribs with gumbo and baked potato which was all very good. The gumbo is especially good with nice heat and flavor. My husband had cajun sausage, gumbo and fried okra. The cajun sausage was not spicy enough but still good. The athmosphere was nice with blues playing in the background. Service was attentive. We couldn't find a reasonably-priced steakhouse, so we chose BBQ at the Blu Pig. The first night we ate in the area outside the bar., very nice weather. MOLLY was our server, (ask for her) and she was terrific. I selected the sliced tri-tip which had a wonderful smoky favor. The baked potato was HUGE, the size of a mini football! Others in our group selected a variety of items from burnt ends, ribs, burgers and more. No one was dissatisfied or disappointed. Our group came back the following night (Saturday) and several of us got out steak fix with the prime rib special. The PR was clearly a full pound of tender, boneless heaven, at a decent price. That deep smoked favor was to die for. If you like entertainment, the bar area is your scene. The Blu Pig will certainly become one of our favorites in Moab! read more

Awful. When I read about the restaurant actually smoking the meat, I was so excited. The real dieal, I thought. My husband and I are bbq judges so we do know what bbq meat should be like. We walked into the restaurant and were impressed with how packed the place was. A score, for sure! THEN... First came the corn muffins which might have been OK but were slathered in sugar, cinnamon and butter. Did nothing for the muffins. Then, as if all that sugar and cinnamon on the corn muffin were not enough but it was also on the sweet potato. Not good either. Onion rings were pretty good. However, the ribs were among the worst I have ever had. So dry that I guzzled water in order to swallow the meat. No taste of smoke despite all the hours of smoking. Sauce was burned onto the meat. The meat was very overcooked. We were very disappointed. Run, do not walk, from this place. Poor Moab must have a city full of bad restaurants or this place would not have been full. read more

The atmosphere is pretty good in this restaurant. The food only gets 3 stars though. The BBQ sauce is very very mild that you can barely taste the flavors. I ordered the voodoo chicken and the chicken is surprisingly juicy. My son also liked his burger. However, my husband ordered beef brisket and tri tip, the meat was almost flavorless. The waiter took more than 10 minutes before they asked us what we wanted to drink, then the food was horrible, fries dripping of old grease not cooked all the way, the pulled pork was dripping of grease(so much for it being smoked) the corn bread tasted like cake batter. Very good service and food. I (somehow) was able to put away a full rack of ribs and half a peach cobbler that I split with my wife after a day of hiking at Canyonlands. Ribs were very tasty, good combination of smoky flavor and moist meat. Three different barbecue sauces are available (spicy garlic, sweet, and mustard). I generally prefer sweet barbecue sauce but ended up putting the spicy garlic sauce on about half the ribs as well. Good, attentive service. read more

Catfish Po-boy was inedible. Wherever they get their fish knows nothing about how to prep catfish fillets - tasted of mud. The only bright spot is the hush puppies are pretty good.
