I discovered this place when driving around Bethany beach area and was craving seafood. Husband and I tried to come by Tuesday but go figure, it was the ONLY day they close. We came back tonight determined to try their food. We came in with two groups eating and waited to be seated for about 4 minutes before someone came to seat us. Felt odd for the wait but it appeared there were only two people to begin with. Upon being seated, we were served water which is what we wanted and we placed our order. I loved the fish cutouts they had on the wall next to us. Took about 10-15 minutes for our food. We started with the pizza and it was exactly what we wanted. Simple but the flavors were there! Pesto, garlic and the mozzarella cheese that pulled apart string style! Maybe could have been a crispier crust but I was happy to have all those components hit the mark. We dug into the pasta and OH MY GOSH!!! Again, the simplicity of this dish with perfectly balanced flavors. The basil and the garlic on point! Oh and the sauce, light and a refreshing hit with lemon. Shrimp and scallops not over cooked. I kid you not, I would have licked this plate clean if my husband wasn't with me! I cannot fathom why we were the only ones in this restaurant because both dishes were delicious!!! Thank you so much for feeding our seafood cravings. WE WILL BE BACK! My wife and I stopped in while visiting Bethany Beach for a couple of nights. We were fairly tired after setting up camp at the Delaware National Guard training site. We decided to go out. Yelp noted The Blue Crab was one of the top spots; however, that it was closed. To our surprise and Sherlock, it was open! My wife and I sat high top with a personal and professional waitress taking care of us. We ordered adult beverages and I ordered a bowl of the cream of crab soup as a starter. For our main courses, my wife ordered a bacon cheeseburger without the bun and I there blackened halibut sandwich. My blueberry Mojito was out of this world delicious! The only issue was all the bits and the small straw. our main courses were delicious as well. Halibut sandwich was only second to that crab soup! Both extremely delicious. Sadly, I wasn't a huge fan of The Blue Crab. We visited for dinner on a Saturday night, having made a reservation in advance. However, the reservation wasn't necessary, considering the place was mostly empty. The space was also massive - three large dining rooms - it almost looked like two restaurants joined into one. The ambiance was very casual and we were seated in a booth near one of the exits. For drinks, I decided to try the Blueberry Mojito, which was a mistake. I generally love mojitos, but this one tasted like soda with juice in it - wayyyy too sweet. Our server was nice enough to let me exchange it for wine, since I really didn't want to drink it. However, my friend's Moscow Mule was better. They also brought over some complimentary potato chips with a creamy horseradish dipping sauce. I wasn't super hungry so I ended up just ordering the Cream of Crab Soup, which was very tasty! My friend got a half dozen oysters, which also weren't bad. After a 7 Hour Dr., we arrived at Bethany Beach at 7 o'clock at night and decided to go out to eat. The hotel recommended the blue crab so we walked there and were greeted by a friendly staff. The atmosphere didn't look great and we had our doubts. however, our waitress was very pleasant and promptly brought us two frosty cold beers, and we ordered steam shrimp and the crabcakes. Visiting from Florida so we had to stop in for some blue crabs. The server was very attentive and checked on us multiple times. The restaurant wasn't fancy by any means but perfect to enjoy our seafood. We received a bucket for the shells and loved all the tools they provided. I had never had vinegar to dip my crab in but that was fun. The hush puppies were also great. read more

Friends and I came here for ayce crab feast! Man this place did not disappoint. Our waitress was great! She made sure we had everything we needed. I had a very refreshing blueberry mojito :) Ok to the crab! We got tons of medium sized male crabs that had tons of meat :) The meat tasted really fresh and the seasoning didn't make the crabs too salty and we enjoyed picking the crabs. The crab feast came with unlimited hush puppies, corn and fried chicken. Hush puppies were okay, corn was pretty good and omg the fried chicken was super delicious! I couldn't stop eating it (it was kinda salty so I stopped after awhile lol). We ate our fill and left the restaurant feeling stuffed and happy :) would def. I visited the Blue Crab a few days ago with my family and had a very pleasant experience. Our waitress, unfortunately I don't remember her name, was beyond wonderful! She was so friendly and on top of things. She might even be the best waitress we had at any restaurant during our time in Bethany! Our family gets crab dip at pretty much every restaurant we visit, and out of many other restaurants, Blue Crab's crab dip topped our list. It's so creamy and rich with giant chunks of crab meat. The bread is soft and tasty that pairs perfectly with the dip! 1000000/10 for the crab dip! I ordered a steamer platter. It was all good, a little on the cold side. But I was full and satisfied at the end of the meal, so I guess it was a successful meal. The restaurant is a little plain looking on the inside, but I think I like that it's not so flashy and more of a "hometown" feel. We also greatly appreciate who we believe to be the owner stopping by our table to check in on our meal. A very kind gentleman who appears to be a class act business man. The Blue Crab is a wonderful family restaurant operated by wonderful people. I wish my meal was a bit warmer, but I won't hold that against them! We will be back! read more

Always a pleasure! We started with the best housemade chips and dip and split the mussels. Nice selection of beers and interesting citrus crushes! Fun place to crack crabs - comfortable and clean. She was totally disappointed with her entire meal due to both the crab cake being & cream of crab soup being tasteless. We absolutely loved Blue Crab! My family and I were staying in Rehoboth Beach in a mini vacation and found this place through Yelp! We were all in the mood for crabs and boy, this just hit the spot! Four of us dined here last night specially for blue crabs. We had a pretty good time but I was disappointed to say the least with the crabs. Blue Crab offers a feast for 42.00 that you includes all you can eat plus corn and fried chicken. I didn't need all that. Me and another split a dozen for a whopping 60.00 and they were not even large at that. They also did not come with sides. My other two dinner partners opted for the snow crabs. Another 60.00 for four large clusters. At least they got sides. The Blue Crab is definitely price gauging the tourist and it's unfortunate. Wanted to check out another restaurant but the wait was too long and randomly found this place. They had an open outdoor table and decided to check it out. Wasn't in the mood for a crab feast and decided to try some other things on the menu. Ordered the crab dip and it was pretty good! They also serve house made potato chips so do yourself a favor and try dipping the chips into the crab dip. The seaside pasta was slightly overpriced but still a solid choice and had a fair amount of seafood. Blue Crab is a very nice place for a dinner. We came by on Sunday night. The TVs had football and we ordered from the menu which had a nice selection. It wasn't too busy since we are now in "off season" at the Delaware shore. After a short while our entrees were served. We had excellent crab cakes and a very good shrimp and grits. Everything tasted great! I could have used a little more grits since the delicious sauce took away from it a little. Still, it was an excellent meal! One of the best places around for those craving to eat as much blue crabs as you like! For $39.95 per person (basic AYCE option), you get delicious beach fried chicken, hush puppies, corn on the cob, and crabs! Came out full, satisfied, and was excellent. There are other more options for AYCE including shrimp and I believe ribs. The servers at the beaches (OC, Bethany), during the summer, seems to be kids from Europe (so its hard to understand them at times), but they are friendly and efficient. Try and get here by 6 or wait between 20-40 minutes. read more

Interesting place! They have a spacious area to eat inside and it's well ventilated. They were having a crab shortage here in the area, and they were charging quite a bit for it. So we decided to do snow crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, and corn, and I ordered shrimp with grits. Along with HUSH PUPPIES, all of these things were amazing. Not overly salty and it was a great amount of seasoning. I wish they did the all you can eat snow crabs though... but the weather issues had caused some crab shortage problems. Two things flash through my mind: We're told that jobs are very difficult to find, especially for young people, so how come it seems that throughout the Mid Atlantic, all beach season jobs are filled by hard working, good looking young Russian girls and boys? They travel a million miles from their frozen tundras to bust their buts in the Eastern seaboard's beach shops, restaurants and pools; where are our local good looking boys and girls? Not that I blame the Russians, I mean, would you rather be freezing your tuchis in Siberia or dishing out mussels in Bethany Beach? But you get my point... But let's get back on track with this review... ahem... so the other thing that crossed my mind was to kidnap some of Little Junes' crayons and start my own art project while we wait for our food, so I started doing a huge drawing of two pigs and a blue crab on the brown kraft paper that they use for tablecloths. At some point the pretty Russian waitress noticed and she brought over a second box of crayons and then I really went to town; that's what I call friendly service. Some of our best friends invited us to go to Bethany Beach with them for a mini summer beach vacation. Having just bought a new house and move we didn't have much time to plan for any type of summer vacation. So we were lucky to have a long weekend beach getaway. We actually stopped by this place last year too during our visit, and we were excited to come back again! We were all craving all you can eat blue crabs. Seriously probably the best all you can eat Blue crabs place! I think we refilled with three buckets of crabs... it was awesome. Being pregnant I didn't eat as much as I normally would I stopped after bucket number 2 haha :) The crabs were huge, flavorful, and the crabmeat was super sweet and meaty, can't wait to go back next year. The all you can eat crabs also came with all you can eat Fried Chicken (really good... so crispy juicy and hot... I think it hit a chord with me since it seems like friend food is what I crave frequently with this pregnancy), corn on the cob ( unfortunately, none of us touched this since we didn't want to kill our crab appetite), hush puppies (also very good as they are dusted with some powdered sugar). You have to go in knowing that you will smell like crab by the time you leave... you will probably use up the whole roll of paper towels at your table if you are going with friends and be prepared to be completely stuffed! I do wish they give you adult throwaway bibs like some places give you for eating lobster. Having AYCE crabs at the Blue Crab is one of our beach traditions. This was a landmark year. My wife and I each ate a full dozen of the fat, flavorful crabs, perfectly cooked.
