2nd stay here (March/April 2023 and October 2023). Don't judge a book by its cover! While the outside may look a little outdated or a stereotypical motel/inn, the rooms are anything but! Rooms have been remodeled and up-to-date. Check-in process was quick. I had prepaid using Hotel Tonight, so I only had to sign an agreement. I was handed a regular key on one of those old school hotel keychains (room number removed in picture). WiFi password is on the back. WiFi is strong enough to watch videos on my tablet and phone. Yes, the AC is loud and kicks on a lot but it wasn't an issue for me as I stayed during the offseason both times. The owner (I believe) on my first stay mentioned that they keep a handful of rooms open in the offseason and boy am I thankful. $120 is roughly what I paid both times. The first time I stayed in the first section where the office is. This last time was on the complete other side in one of the last few rooms. The beds are super comfortable with 3 big fluffy pillows. Got a great night sleep. The shower is a bit tricky as there is no easy indication that you are on the hot or cold water setting. It kinda spins almost 360°; my advice would be to turn it half way around and it's a nice warm temp. You may also want to open the top bathroom window shutters to get some airflow in as there is no vent in the bathroom, just lights. You get a few mini bars of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. There are no amenities (like a soda/snack machine) that I saw, but I also didn't venture out. I do know there is a Cumberland Farms gas station nearby, so, stock up there. There's a tv in the room (which I also did not use) but it's a Roku-type TV so it does Roku things. Mini fridge in room. Coffee maker that makes not the best coffee, but what are you expecting a Starbucks? The door between rooms could use some insulation or something as I could hear the neighboring room having a conversation. Only heard them in the morning so it didn't ruin my sleep. My actual destination for my time(s) there was Provincetown and it is about 30 minutes away. This far out I was able to save more than 3-5x the amount I would've spent on other hotels in the area. And it's the off-season! One of the reasons that will keep me coming back here when I can, is a special circumstance. My first visit, I had a friend in crisis who needed an emergency place to stay. I would've been out by the time they showed up, and the office would've been closed, but the owner was able to put a key aside in a safe place where they could get to it. That's just great customer service! No real complaints here. Will definitely be back! read more

We booked this establishment for two nights, but before our heads hit the pillows the first night we knew we could not stay a second night. The room was not properly vacuumed as there was dirt on the rug, along the bed's edges, and bathroom floor. There were several spider webs hosting live spiders in the corners and dirt in the entry way. The sheets and towels, even though clearly washed, had stains on them. Not every surface in the bathroom was properly cleaned as you could run your fingers along the counter and pick up dust. There were flying bugs everywhere - ok during the summer this can happen, but it was annoying (drain flies and cockroaches). The chairs to sit outside of your room were old and worn. The little sad porch was not inviting to sit outside. It consisted of two green faded chairs with a little rusty dilapidated banged up table. Plus was a little fridge with a nice icebox and a microwave. Those seemed to be newer. The lady at the reception desk was nice and friendly. When we checked out early and told her about our experience she said she would talk to the owner and see what could be done, but we never received a refund. read more

I left a tip, but I want to leave an honest review. This motel is great for the money! It's is cheap! It is clean contrary to what people say. Clean for an older motel in a humid climate, obviously family run in a very, very busy location. We have stayed twice and enjoyed both stays. The big yard/courtyard in the middle is great for kids and adults. There is an awesome breakfast joint next door. The drive-in is across the street. We stayed with our baby who was 2 months old at the time, very comfortably. I would stay again, especially great for last minute weekends. You just can't beat the price. No. ... ... ... We stayed here because this was the cheapest place we could get on such short notice. And, for us, that worked just fine. Also, the staff was super friendly and the room was clean. Also, the pool, which we did not use, actually looked pretty nice. However: 1) The room was a dive. A serious hasn't been updated since the 70s ans filled with random found furniture but not in a good way dive. It was worth $50 for the night - MAX - in high season, and that's pushing it. (We paid $150) 2) The bath fitter over the tub/shower in the bathroom doesn't exactly fit, so it moves under your feet and makes you wonder what horrid moldy mess might lie beneath. 3) The emergency desk numbers they gave us might have been helpful and I MIGHT have been annoyed by the fact that they charged for local and 800 phone calls IF the phone actually worked at all. (Side note: the alarm clock also did not work.) 4) Two tiny towels for two people is not enough towels. I would have called the desk for more but... 5) The beds might as well have been mats on the floor for how soft they were. 6) There's a back patio! Yay! Oh, but it kinds sucks. The beds did, however, have plastic covers on the mattress and box spring which made us confident we weren't sleeping in child pee or bed bugs. I really enjoyed my stay at the Blue Dolphin in for none (or maybe in some ways all) or the reasons listed above, but I shalln't ever be back. read more

If I could give -5 stars, I would. This place was absolutely disgusting. The first room we were put in was not even cleaned from the last check out, they moved us to a different room and apologized because they knew it wasn't cleaned before. My boyfriend and I went out for the day, came back into our new room and it was still filthy. There were dead Beatles and spiders in every corner of the room along with dirty sinks, sheets, and pillows. Other people's hair were in the sheets along with stains on the comforters and even mold on the shower curtains. We had planned to stay 3 nights here but we checked out before even sleeping here for one night because that was how bad the place was. read more

Always a good stay for the money, you can't go wrong. Consistently clean and cozy rooms, and comfortable beds, great swimming pool, close to beaches. Adjoining rooms great for families with older kids. Staff is always helpful and friendly and will work with you in any way possible to make your stay the best it can be. For the age of the motel the place is clean and peaceful in the off season and busy as the cape generally is during the summer months. The Blue Dolphin is central to so much on the cape and to be honest other than a sleep and a shower who really hangs out in the room? One year we came with friends and on a rainy night we watched the election debates in one of our rooms and had a great time laughing and debating amongst ourselves. Super comfortable, you would not be able to find this good of a deal in most places on the Cape. Short drive to the roundabout in Orleans and not too far to P-town. Perfect access to everywhere. The location is ideal. Wifi is decent, great tv's, the fridges are cold and there is adjacent access onto the Cape Cod bicycle trail a great trek to Marconi Beach. We have been coming here twice a year for years and recommend it to anyone. As another reviewer noted, it's a MOTEL for crying out loud. If you want mints on your pillow, go someplace else! The other reviews will tell you what this place isn't. This one will tell you what it is, in a word, a motel. Motor Inn is the fancy word for a motel... long building, no frills room and little else. But for alot of people that's exactly what they need. You get exactly what you pay for! The room smelled fresh, it was clean and neat, all the amenities worked. What more could you ask for? Once a year because the whole family is at the house in Eastham I'm forced to actually pay money for a place to stay. We normally stay at another similar place maybe a mile away, but this year there were family health issues that meant we might have to cancel and I didn't want to get stuck with a big bill for a room I didn't need. This place was a little cheaper, had fewer amenities and had a better (72-hour) cancelation policy. Also we had to move our dates and they did it no problem. Many places on the Cape in the summer make it very difficult to cancel or change your dates. Like all these crappy motels on the Cape the price you pay in the summer is way more than its actually worth. It's just the reality of the Cape on-season. This place is merely adequate. It was dated and the room relatively small but it was clean. The wifi was decent, as was the were the TV choices. The bed was comfortable and AC worked well. As noted there are very few amenities here other than an outdoor pool and a volleyball net. Honestly we spent very little time here just sleep and shower, for which it was fine. So long as you don't expect anything as "fancy" as a Holiday Inn. If you have an entire family and plan to spend time at the hotel you can probably do better. But honestly even though it's overpriced for what it is it's still a decent deal. I think we paid $150-$160/night. So for 3 nights it was about $100 cheaper than the other place which was similar. So next year when the whole family is at the Cape I might stay here again. Overall it's ok just calibrate your expectations to "low". read more

Only if you have no other option should you stay here. My friends and I stayed here on one occasion because we didn't want to drive all the way back from the cape on a Saturday night. The good points were that we didn't have to book both Friday and Saturday nights to stay here, there was a vacancy, the people were friendly and it is very convenient being on route 6, the pool looked nice (I didn't actually get a chance to use it) and it served its purpose. The low points definitely out way the good. This room was overprice for what it was (but this is clearly a function on being on the cape during peak season). The only true amenity was the pool. The room was very basic with 2 full sized beds which were better than sleeping in the car or on the floor but not by much. I would defenitely say that there are better options out there if you have the time to reserach them and book in advance. read more

We stayed 2 nights at this motel recently. While everything worked and the staff was friendly, there were a few things that annoyed us while we were here. For the positive, the beds were fine and I liked that there was a mini fridge. The cable TV and AC worked well too. The Wifi mostly worked although there were a few hiccups when there were apparently a lot of users. We did not have much issues sleeping here and could still recommend staying here again. For the negative, the first thing that comes to mind are the insects. We've encountered maybe a dozen including some really large ones that flew or crawled on our bed sheet. But as long as they didn't bug us, we mostly ignored them. The second thing that comes to mind is the lack of a bathroom ventilation fan. There was only a grate high up on the bathroom wall for ventilation and the bathroom could get quite stuffy with humidity after a shower. The bathtub drain didn't work well either and it appears that the clog is within the pipes. Finally, the shampoo they provided could use some improvement and made us wish that we packed our own shampoo. read more

The area was beautiful and quiet. The pool was refreshing. The shower had an issue which was resolved quick so that was great. There were a lot of bugs that somehow found their way into the room despite us keeping the door and windows closed. No room service when it came to cleaning the trash or making the bed. I was worried about staying here after reading all of the negative reviews. But all I have to say is, no. No there wasn't a musty smell to the room. No there were not any bugs flying nor crawling anywhere. No the AC didn't leak all over the floor, worked just fine. And no the shower water was no brown, nor did it get cold at any point during our showers. The room was nice, and it was clean, and the staff was friendly. Our motel room was clean and comfortable, though it showed some signs of wear. The staff is pleasant. I like the ornamental grasses and rosebushes between the parking spots and the rooms. The location is convenient to the Cape Cod Rail Trail and a great breakfast buffer next door. Staying in September, this motel is a decent value. read more

You get what you pay for. Very good prices. The pool unfortunately had a problem with it when we visited at the beginning of the season - but it looked nice. The room had a bit of a spider problem (we encountered about 15 or so in three days). The management worked with us over that issue very well!! There's a nice little inner court yard with trees, picnic tables, and nice shade. Big parking spaces. Kind people working there. My kids and I checked in at about 5pm. Knowing that this place was old and out of date, I wanted to make sure the sheets were clean. I looked at one bed stupidly thinking if ones clean they're both clean. Well we left bc we had a family event to go to. We ended up getting back after 10:30. As I'm getting the kids down I notice cob webs in the corners of the room, along with two spiders. Then I looked at the other bed, and the comforter had mold/mildew stains, the bathroom had mildew and the ceiling looked like it was going to fall down with the amount of spackle they had. The ceilings in the room and mold stains, and the carpet was so sandy. I was so grossed out. I took pictures to show the morning staff and I tried to settle my kids down because it was so late to do anything at that moment. Well 11:45 my 9 year old I s screaming her head off over the spider and cob Webb's. Will not go to sleep in her bed. I tried to calm her down but the only way was if she slept with me and my toddler. Well I basically didn't sleep bc of no room. I wake up in morning so upset over the situation and packed all our stuff to find somewhere else to stay. I walked in office with kids explained the situation and they told me to call Expedia. They have my card. No sorry no nothing. I call Expedia and they cannot get ahold of the office. So I go back in the office and tell them Expedia is trying to call. Well this lady (manager) charges in the office and immediately starts talking loudly to me in front of my kids. Doesn't even allow me to explain the situation calmly. She didnt care what I had to say and was not empathetic about my experience and said I should have called someone at 12:45-1am to have them handle it. The office closed at 10pm why would I think there would be anyone to help me at this hour. There is no welcome package no signs in the hotel NOTHING to tell you if you experience any problems call this number 247. This certainly wasn't explained at check it, yet she was screaming to me people live on property 247!! I should have done something about it at 1am with my two small children! Ya okay lady NO. I asked her what would she have done for me???! She said "well we aren't in that situation are we?" What a bitch. I did the best I could with two kids alone given the circumstance. She literally was the worst, disgusting, bully manager I've ever met in my whole life. This place is a slum and should be shit down. The whole place is prob infested with bugs, mold and who knows what else. I forced her to come to the room to show her since she was acting like I was some kind of liar. She didn't want to but I literally made her. After that I just left hysterically crying. I've never been so bullied by someone who is supposed to be professional to a customer. I'm back! I came back last year and was pleasantly surprised. I'll let you know about last year and then this year. My expectations were super low. I arrived and had a pretty decent room. Everything looked new and updated. Ah, appearances are deceiving. The screen for the patio fell of the door within the hour. I actually had a kitchenette in that room. Of course the handle to the faucet came off as I turned the water on! Went to the bathroom, of course the handle came off the door as I tried to open it to get out! Update for this year. The light outside my room was out every night. So it was very difficult to see the lock. I told'em every night, and they came by and replaced the light bulb. It worked at that moment. I'm not sure if the next day they just swapped it out for the same burnt out bulb, cuz every night it was a repeat. I felt like I was Bill Murray in Groundhog Day (if u don't get the reference, rent the movie). Needless to say, the patio screen door spent more time on the floor of my patio then on the door. I enjoyed watching everyone put theirs back on, only to see it fall off instantly. This room was odd, the entrance light was practically near the patio door so it was pretty dim in the entrance way. The mini fridge literally had to be the Guinness book of records smallest fridge. I used it to store my chewing gum. The deadbolt for the door did not work as the bolt does not line up to the hole. The toilet moved as I used it. Here's the best part, the toilet clogged. I went to the office and they handed me a plunger! I used the plunger and just left it on the patio. They can pick it up when the next guest has issues. You get what you pay for. read more

Located across from the Wellfleet drive-in is perfect as well... and when we get up, we can walk across the parking lot to an amazing all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. I booked a stay here, their booking system advises you that reservations aren't guaranteed until confirmed by email. After 4 days, which I assumed was reasonable, I emailed them and advised them to cancel my request, so I could rebook at a place before the Cape filled up (as it was a "holiday" weekend), a couple of places did sell out. All of this activity occurred before their 10 day cancellation window. I get back home, and found the $75+ charge on my credit card for the "missed" stay. I emailed them and advised them the charge was made "in error". Just know what you're dealing with before you reserve here. Not one single time did I receive a phone call or a return email from the property. Usually encounter people bending over backward to correct the error, once in a while a snarky (we're holding onto your money because we're "entitled" to), but never have I encountered stone dead silence. (No...I don't call on the phone, because it's still he said/she said. I also know what my recourses are here, which I've already started pursuit of.) But in this case....they do NOT have a leg to stand on. read more

Came up to the cape with my boyfriend for the oyster fest in Wellfleet and stayed here, Ha !! What a joke. We arrived at nighttime coming from CT and when morning broke the next day we really got a better look at what this place had to offer (which isn't much). The lady at the front desk was friendly but, I could already kinda tell that the facility was a tad dumpy. When we got to our room number there was a random plastic cup at our doorstep (like seriously they can't pick up the trash) and the light to our room door was out. A woman is lucky when her man is an electrician, my boyfriend changed light bulbs with our neighbors room (but nobody was next to us) when we finally got in the room I noticed a random lotion or some kind of cap to a bottle was left on the night stand and that each bed was made differently. The customer service is not consistent. Then we noticed that there's only two dim lights that light up the room. And that the ceiling lamp with cracked and filled with dead bugs. My boyfriend unscrewed it to just have better lighting !!!!!! There was a dead beetle on one of the beds and the other had old blood stains on the sheets. The bathroom is a complete disaster, the shower was not pleasant as for the water is only a nice temp for roughly 5ish mins before it either burns your flesh off or freezes you to death. The counters were a nice modern marble and the shower walls looked newish as well. For the rest of the place everything was so out of date. The moldings and furnishings and insulation were so half assed finished. There was random hairs on the bathroom walls (like why wasn't that cleaned up) There's a plug in heater that takes some time to warm up but does a decent job for keeping you warm. Thou the door wasn't flush to its frame and was letting heat out and cold in (same for the bathroom window) The tv was very fuzzy and channels were limited. But there was free wifi. The comforter covers to the beds were made of silky polyester so in the middle of the night they'd just slip off the bed and you'd wake up shivering and having to readjust ... But, it's a good thing my boyfriend was there to keep my toasty. All in all, this place is over priced for it was $120 a night for shit, I expected more for the price. Oh yeah and even thou it's October and pretty much the end of swim season - the public pool was freaking GREEN !!! (Seriously dude, just close it for the season, are we making a huge bird bath or what ?) just trust me when I say this place is no good. read more

I enjoyed my recent stay with my brother for a long weekend fishing trip. This place was more than adequate for our needs and we would and will stay again. The grounds are wide open, the location is great, the rooms are adequate. I think the price is reasonable although my brother picked up that bill so I am not sure. We had a great time and meet some very friendly people. Plus, Laura and Tony's Kitchen is right next door. Very close to Nauset Inlet, Coast Guard Beach, Sunken Meadow Beach, Wellfleet Harbor, and much more. read more

120 bucks a night is very steep for what you get, try somewhere more reputable, trust me when I say, "don't do it".

Iv been coming to wellfleet since I was 3 years old, usually renting out Cottages weeks at a time with family, but as i grew older and went by my self or with my fiancé for example i have always came to blue dolphine inn. I've been coming here for at least 10 years, its been a few years since I was able to take time off and come back up to the cape. I figured me and my fiance would just stay at the Blue Dolphin for it is relatively cheap and affordable and the breakfast at Tony's is good. However it seems that over the years the ownership has changed and now it's ran by a Indian family who are extremely rude and have no idea what it is to have a clean establishment. The staff are all rude and nasty, room smelled musty and had some mold. The ac had tree car air fresheners in it. I had to ask for a microwave 3 times, till i finally went to the office myself to grab it. The wifi may as well have been nonexistent. In the center of the property they used to have picnic tables and old standing charcoal grills its now an open lot with some over grown grass, and there is 1 grill that has no stand and is literally on the ground and being buried in dirt as the years go by. Honestly the best part of this Motel is the other business Nextdoor " Tony's " who serves a great breakfast buffet, my advice would be to spend an extra few dollars and stay elsewhere. read more

We stayed at Blue Dolphin for one overnight in October to attend a wedding in Wellfleet. The price was right and it was one of the few places that didn't require a 2+ night minimum. I was pleasantly surprised to find the front desk area very clean and well staffed. Our room was nicer than we expected too. Very clean and modern. Our only complaint was that we couldn't get any hot water for morning showers. There's a pool and a swing set and we're considering coming back in the summer with our daughter who would love both. In short, can't beat the price and we were pleasantly surprised by what we found! read more

Stayed here on a 3 day vacation, and it was very pleasant to say the least! Now I gotta admit, the bathroom window was in pretty bad condition and the shower was looking a little old. I did see about two pinchers in our room which was unpleasant, but the overall room was super cozy and clean for the most part. It's a motel for crying out loud, if you want cleaner rooms spend more money going to a hotel. The room was super cute and made me feel at home, it was lovely. The staff is really nice too, but not always there. I needed to report some girls smoking at the pool who weren't even staying at the motel, I checked the office twice and no one was there. On the subject, the pool was amazing and lots of fun, lots of comfortable shaded areas and lounge chairs too. My only biggest concern was the cleanliness of the pool. I myself had to clean out some uh.. animal remains it seemed like? Some bugs here and there too. That was my only problem but when it was cleaner, it was super enjoyable and I spent hours there. My family had been staying here for years. A few years back the long time owners sold it and retired. This was the turning point of the Dolphin going down hill. Last year I decided was our last stay and we will never return. We stayed in the family suite. It has full kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom. Staying at the beach sand gets tracked everywhere. Maid staff never vacuumed, she just swept the room (actually the tiny area in front of the door). We were there for 5 days!!! Bugs in the kitchen (roaches). It was explained that the inn does treat the rooms but because of the location it was normal for there to be bugs. The woman tried to say that it wasn't roaches. However, a quick google search showed pictures of roaches matching the bugs seen in the room. Lastly, the pool everyone mentioned has visa ly been neglected. Never seen someone clean it once. Sad that as a customer I skimmed it myself. The times we sat by the pool the filter was never on. I would have recommended this place to any and everyone years ago.
