It's a cool place to hang out if you are looking for a semi-quiet place to chit chat with friends or coworkers. I had a margarita that I wish was a bit stronger. Horrible service ! DONT GIVE THEM BUSINESS , especially young people don't go here !, the people that work here are old farts that have a weird attitude, they only want their old locals or what? Super UNWELCOMING. it looks like good vibes and all but the service is not good at all , the bald old man is super rude , came up to my friend and I and checked our ID's for over 5 minutes sir you can go scan it if you'd like . He starts questioning us as if he's a cop, my friend handed over her ID instead of her DL and he questioned that as well. It is none of your business sir if she has two identifications , go scan it if you'd like and go on with your day . Then , I ask if they have a menu , and he rudely says umm the beer one in front of you , he asks what we'd like and I say a mojito , he can't make it he says and just stands there staring at us , sir you should really learn some customer service skills , you should say it's okay take your time walk over to the bar once youre ready. Do I really need to be telling this to a man that has probably worked here his whole life yeah no . I suggest if you want to have a good rep and want service for oncoming years , treat ALL your customers fairly. A piece of advice...Do not come here after drinking at Corner Bar! Seriously, you will forget that it's CASH ONLY! Yup, it happened to us and you will regret using the ATM with the $2 fee. Yah, SUCKS! Drinks pretty cheap but not happy with the first shot that the bartender made us. But thank you, Troy (the bartender) for making us a better shot after we weren't happy with the first one. I must tell you about the ladies restroom. In one of the stalls (the wider one - there is only two stalls) there is a condom dispenser...75 cents for a condom and I believe one of them was flavored. hahaha It made me wonder how often someone ended up in there after a night of drinking. LOL I must say the patrons here were more bold and older than CB. Good people and good drinks. The decor is bad-ass... Play the juke, play some darts, have some drinks! Dont call the bartenders "Sir" if youre a guy. They will tell you that you should be called "Sir" as a patron. Manners. Nice. A couple years ago smoking was allowed (or tolerated). Now its smoking outside only (as far as I can tell). Okay let's see, Parking area is a little small, but at least it's not crowded at 10:45pm We get there and it's a lounge setting all blue chairs and signs No music unless you feed the juke box money And you can play darts but you have to pay When you order your drink you pay right away no such thing as holding a tab Nice bartenders The bar area had some people and the inside lounge area was only crowded by our group of 8ppl If you want to order food they don't have their own kitchen but they give you a menus to a Mexican restaurant next door where you can order and have them deliver , but we decided to go to the actual place which was a disaster lol so we ended up hopping to the habit burger and brought food back with us to our table. We dropped off our son at a friend's house nearby and I have been sick for a few days so I yelped a place nearby to take my husband to spur of the moment to combat cabin fever. The Corner came up first and was closed. So we went back to the car and I went back to yelp. Stayed parked and walked a few feet to The Blue Room. YES!!! Iconic little corner of history. Really cool retro look. Open since the year my much-older-sister was born. '52! Our minds are reeling with thoughts of all that has gone down and all whom have walked through these doors. Cuuuute little patio out back. Of course it's for the smokers so we'll never really enjoy it, but I got a good shot of it with no one out there at the moment. VERY friendly and attentive service! Very clean and beautiful bathrooms. Even the men's room, according to the hubs. :) And my FAVORITE thing about this place...DOG FRIENDLY! They love my little Dontae and that makes me love them! Also, the owner came and sat down to chit chat for a funny little convo about a drink-ordering app. Nice touch. This would be a 5 star review if the daytime bartender allowed us to run a tab. He turned down my inquiry to do so saying he was leaving. 3 rounds later, my husband had pulled cash out 3 times in a row. No big, but really...why? Or rather, why not? I'm really only posting this because I saw some downer give this place a one star complaining that people were rude to him because he wasn't a regular. I've only been there two or three times and each time both staff and patrons have been super nice. The place is always spotless, the drinks are cheap as hell, and it's one of the coolest looking/feeling bars I know of. We were only in town to go to universal so just finding a spot to chill at the night before I'm glad we came to the blue room! Leonard was so friendly and was the perfect bartender for that night! He was about bringing up our mood and he even made me a piña colada that was freakin delicious! There was a loud group that was kind of annoying but it was a Monday night so I get it, and it is cash only which I hate but still the prices were cheap and the drinks were good! The bartenders and security are great. But keep your ID handy, you will get ID'd. 21 and over. Cash only but there is an ATM inside. Darts and the amazing touch tunes jukebox, so download the app. I haven't been in the mens bathroom but the women's is quite accommodating. Full size mirrors , private stalls. Beautiful patio area you can enjoy the day light or moon light and have a drink or smoke. Yes. You can drink and smoke (in the patio area) or stay inside for the ambience and never have to worry about the smoke if you are not a smoker. I've been coming here for about 15 years. Never seen a fight (but I'm not here regularly). This place is cash only. The interior decoration is very cute. There are nice comfortable diner booths with a bar by the front. They have a cool jukebox that plays awesome tunes. The door to this place is pretty cool. It's a blue door with an accented frame. They have a small lot that you can park in. The drinks are fairly priced and the bathroom was clean. Great place that seems to have been here for ever. Nice bar tender, and a good selection of booze from beer to top shelf single malts. Have afternoon meetings here often as it is pretty laid back and they allow cigar smoking without all the crying, faux coughing and overplayed wailing of the healthy choice nazis who usually frequent the local bars and start to get that glazed look in their eye when they realize you are about to torch a nice Cohiba in their vicinity. The place oozes old school coolness and no one gives a crap who you are or what you do so you never know who you might bump into. The history here is one of the best in the area and the prices are really reasonable. Keep in mind this is an old local bar. It ain't the Polo Lounge, the Ivy, or the Edison. No bathroom attendants, no guys to shine your shoes and possibly a funny smell or two lingering around. Just great conversation, a good drink at a reasonable price and a very cool experience. Cheap drinks! That's the best pro of this place! It is really affordable. It's a spot you go to after a long day for a quick beer to wind down. I enjoyed the fact that one beer didn't kill my wallet. My date's drink was a redbull with vodka. Which wouldn't be my cup of tea on a work day but that too was affordable. The service was quick but not the best. I guess it was a long day but I mean it was a Monday, and the place wasn't packed when we walked in. I never understand it when businesses don't strive for outstanding customer service. I know it can be irritating, but it's expected with any type of business. Parking was convenient but narrow and small. I felt claustrophobic. Make sure to come and park safely. I actually did like the vibe of the bar, but furniture seemed cheap looking. This bar definitely has potential. The fact that it's been successful for so many years is wonderful. After a quick visit to my trunk and then Bar 21, Frank was dying to take a leak. So while he was at the communal latrine, I waited outside for him. I knew it would be an interesting experience at The Blue Room when a guy comes up to me and proceeds to inform me that he's "just back out on the singles scene again". Great. Thanks man. Thank god Frank didn't pull a Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own. I think that guy would have made me his personal shrink if he had time. Anyway, back to The Blue Room. It's cool. Good, cheap drink, $5.25 for a Malibu Pineapple. No charge for the eye candy ;). The music selection was good but unfortunately the people there were playing the crappy stuff. No thanks, I've had enough Def Leppard. Interesting, interesting mix of people. I was distracted by all of them and I must echo Frank's unending confusion. Parking kind of sucks too. Although I imagine it's better during the week. I can't bring myself to give it more than 3 stars though. Maybe if I lived closer? Don't get me wrong, I love dive bar crowds, but this place just had too many quirky (okay, just plain weird) characters.
