Welcome to The Blue Room. Cheap drinks, no food, but they let you order from next door or bring in your own food. Bartenders are on the spot, fast, and friendly. People come here to talk about their day, discuss happenings in Burbank or to get shit hammered. Thursday nights are a nice treat as they have LIVE Blues. Thursdays through Saturday are their busiest nights, so if looking to socialize, that's the time to come. Other nights it's darn quiet. Which is nice if that's what you're looking for. You can't smoke in the bar obviously, but you can smoke out back in their large private patio. Cigars are welcome. Just sit a bit further from the door. ;) They do allow you to vape indoors. So all you vapors are in luck. They have a Touch Tunes jukebox so getting your jams out for all to laugh at is easy from your phone. Sound system is pretty good. Two flat-screens and a digital dart board round out the rest of the available entertainment. (other than the occasional sauced patron) Remember, CASH ONLY BAR. 4 stars for The Blue Room mainly for very affordable drinks. I ordered a cran vodka that cost me only $4. My gf was ordering one dirty martini after the other probably because each was only $7 and note she asked for Grey Goose. Also, the service is simple and friendly. No gimmicks, no waiting-in-line and no obnoxious people (so far). By the way, they went crazy on their Christmas decor this year... check it out. Dedicated to My Mom: You know it's going to be a strange night when, after a nice dinner, your mother says, "Let's go drink! I want to go to the Blue Room!" She was highly impressed with the digital jukebox. "It's sooo cool! It's like iTunes! Have you ever seen one of those!? It's SOOO COOL!" And after a couple drinks of Johnny Walker Blue (Because, really, isn't that fitting to order? Blue room... get it?? get it??) she actually started shaking her ass to "back that azz up." She also loudly wondered, "Who are the suits?" And when I looked over, realizing that I was 100% sure they were cops in suits... I told her my assumption. And then she proudly declared, "I SEE HIS BADGE! You were right!" Because, really, it's so hard to guess that two guys with 70s porn mustaches in cheap suits, white shirts and red ties in a semi-divey bar are cops. The good thing about the blue room, is that someone my age and someone my mom's age can drink together and no one bats an eye. Needless to say I drove home that night.... (hmmm... Who knew!??!? It could've been a very crappy, ugly-looking, bengay-smelling bar in Burbank. But it's not! We were a few doors down at Tapatío (the Mexican restaurant at the corner) and it occurred to me to have a cocktail after dinner. The other bar next door (don't know the name) looked faaar too divey and crappy. But as we kept walking and came across this one, we went through the back door, since parking is behind the building, and voilà: Le un-crappy, retro-ish Blue Room! It's very cute and had C-shaped booths, and a modern jukebox. They had a dartboard, which is about the only traditionally divey thing about the place -- well, that and the older man sitting by himself in the corner. But everything else was actually very nice. The bartender was nice and fixed me my custom-made martini! Bathroom was clean! Yeah, we had a nice time! WHY AM I SQUEAKY LIKE A CHEERLEADER!!!!?! No for real, it's definitely decent. read more

I almost gave this place 4 stars but I quickly realized that I would only be doing so because of which part of Burbank it's located in. I'm not sure why, but I just really don't like eastern Burbank. I'm more of a Hollywood Way or Pass Ave. kind of guy. Moving on. The drinks were strong. The first visit, I was just coming off of almost a month without any drinks (a real feat in Portland) so I figured, for yelp-integrity sake (of course), to return after a few nights of Burbank intensity! The second trip proved that they do, in fact, pour a tough drink. Also, this time I remembered to bring my glasses (Ha! Fool me once...etc.) and taking a look around the place, I kind of fell in love. The blue lighting, booths, the old people and of most importantly, the jukebox of my dreams. Based on the above and a pretty decent degree of hospitality, I have to say that If I didn't want to grow up and be something one day, and if I was any good at darts, I'd probably want to live here. 5 stars Blue Room, I look forward to seeing you soon! read more

Cash only bar. Small parking lot along the side of the building or plenty of parking on the street if its a busy night at the bar. They have a really nice sized patio that usually is inhabited by smokers and their friends. Good stiff drinks and friendly atmosphere and staff. It is nice and dark which provides a really nice ambiance. The music can get a little loud, so it tends not to be the kind of place you go to get to know someone on a first date. The jukebox is stellar, truly something for everyone. read more

Came here last Friday looking for a fun place to hang out with my friends and was absolutely satisfied. I had 15 people show up and we took over a corner of the room. We shifted the chairs and tables around a bit so we could all sit as a group and it worked like a charm. John, the bartender has been there for 13 years and I can see why, The Blue Room is a super chill place. Amanda and our other waitress were very accommodating and just overall kind human beings (and pretty too). I totally dug the blue decor and their jukebox has an amazing variety of music. I had a Jameson and Ginger Ale for $7.50. It is a cash ONLY bay, but don't worry they have an ATM if you forget. I'm a social butterfly and didn't meet a single rude person that night. Easy parking in the back; though I recommend getting before 9pm because that's when it really starts to fill up! read more

If dive bar is your thing, like smokey old Vegas. Then check this place out. I like modern and a little style to my going out, so this place wasn't for me. The drinks were cheap all things considered. The bar is cash only, which isn't too big of a surprise in LA, and they do have an ATM in the area. Small parking lot behind the building, I don't think parking would be too much of an issue here. I didn't like that the bar didn't have a real drink menu. It helps to have a little direction if I am not sure what I am in the mood for. My group had some strong long island ice teas though, and they did offer two different types of wine. read more

I love blue things and bars, but The Blue Room has one shortfall -- it's cash only. There's a digital juke box and a back patio area I still don't quite understand. It may be covered, may not be, I think it's fenced in and I think you can smoke on it... but it's always too dark to tell. It's a divey sort of all blue bar, comfortable booths, low key. It's never been crowded when I've been there, so thats cool. The other patrons keep to themselves, which I tend to like since I'm anti-social. read more

The patio is awesome! Also a great place to pre-game before heading to Hollywood for the night! I agree with Kenn C. The drinks are great and easy on the wallet too. It has a very old school vibe to it and the blue vinyl booths and seats are part of the charm. At Christmas, the Blue Room goes all out. From a ton of Christmas lights strewn all around the bar and it's surrounding area, to the bartenders wearing Santa hats, they seem to have a good time here. There are a lot of regulars that stop here for a drink, but it's also a very welcoming place. The waitresses call you "sugar" or "hun" and are very friendly, but I've seen them put some people in their place that needed it. The Jukebox is unbelievable. I've found stuff in there from Loverboy to the grey album from Echo and the Bunnymen. If you hear "You shook me all night long," cover your ears because there isn't one person NOT singing along. I went there last night to meet someone for drinks. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed myself. All the booths are blue and there is a lot of seating inside. The smoking area outside was surprisingly big and had a lot of greenery. The drinks are fairly priced I got a whiskey and ginger ale which was good and the person I was with ordered a beer that they said was a little old but still drinkable. The bar tender went around to each table and asked if we needed anything this happened about 5 times throughout the evening. Amazing service! I'm not a big "going out" kind of person and I can't wait to go back to this place. Reasonably priced drinks, complimentary pretzels and cashews, amazing vibe. Like an old timey lounge. I adore it. I have lived within walking distance from this place for a year and never ventured in. On a mission I called a friend and we checked it out. After walking in, and getting over how blue it really is inside, the bartender welcomed us and offered to take our order at one of the booths. "What's good here?" This guy listed off all of his specialties which was great! I like a guy who knows what he likes and even has a story behind it. I ordered "The Legend". I don't remember what was in it but it tasted like a margarita and I was pretty good after 2 of those. A bunch of locals, I'd say average age was late 30's early 40's with a handful kids in their 20's. An interesting older man in a cowboy hat who actually introduced himself as "Cowboy" bought my friend and I a drink which only made the night and this place better. They do not serve food but they have a deal with the Mexican place on the corner. The bartender has their menu and you can order from the bar and they bring the food to you and you can eat inside. The best nachos ever! I now have my new favorite, and conveniently close, bar. read more

If you live in Burbank you realize that there aren't a lot of awesome bars in this town. Ok, sure ... you can go frat party it up at Barney's Beanery. You could get your seedy kareoke on at the Big Fish. You can play dusty pool with scary neighbors at the Winchester Room. The Burbank Bar and Grill has its moments. Then.... like an oasis in a dry desert.... you see that Big Blue Sign. Ahhhh. The Blue Room. The Blue Room is a gem. They are pretty old school there, but that's what makes it charming. The same bartenders have been there for a very long time and it became my spot because I felt comfortable there, the prices were great, and I had a blast meeting the people who funneled in and out of the bar. I was working down the street so it was a great place for co-workers to meet up occassionally. Yes, it's true that they only take cash, but they have an ATM machine there so it's never bothered me. If you don't have $40 bucks cash for some drinks, you probably shouldn't be drinking anyway! There are some old farts and scary neighbors that come here, but that's true for every bar. There's a nice patio that's fun to hang out at during the summer. Overall I've had great luck meeting nice people in the area. A few famous movies have scenes shot at the bar. I have a few complaints that I feel are valid----and these are the reasons why I didn't give this 5 stars even though this is a great spot: --The back (way back) patio area is rundown with tons of shrubs, plants, pots, etc. I think there's one plant that has thorny spears coming out of it against the wall. It just isn't safe! I wish it was cleaned up and nice back there all the time. Is it really necessary for it to look like a jungle? --I don't think they do enough promotion and events here. Occassionally they let a regular throw a b-day party with a DJ... but I never see kareoke or anything else driving people to be there more regularly. I think they could rack more money and customers in if they did this. Since they don't, the nextdoor Corner Bar is getting that extra business. Maybe that's what they want..... but my friends and I have always wondered why there aren't more specials and fun things at BR. I will always love the Blue Room, sometimes TOO MUCH, so I've recently only been going once a month or so. It's quaint, nice, cheap and totally worth it if you live in the area. read more

Parking was easy. Security and front door was chill. Drinks were great (according to my friends and family). Can't ask for more from a Tier 3 lounge. You can't expect then to be amazing, but everything was straight at par. The ladies room had cool faucets, fresh paper towels, and the seats were clean. All the lights worked and the temp was great. Wasn't sure what to expect when I rolled into this place, other than "dive bar". And I was so right. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. Just the opposite. Gotta love the dive bars. Where you can not only have good drinks and conversations with people in your party but also total strangers! The only drawback was this place accepts ONLY cash. So make sure you have some on hand or make a trip to the ATM (which I believe they have one there - however I don't think it was working when I was there). My waitress was nice in that old woman Flo's dinner kinda of way: Me: What kind of drinks do you have here? Flo: Beer Me: *Awkward glances around* What kind beer? Flo: Beer in bottles and beer on tap Wasn't sure if she was messing with me or actually being serious. Right before I was about to order a Hefeweizen, I made sure to change to a bud light so as to avoid being outted as a yuppie and either thrown out to the curb or charged more than I was willing to pay for the date I was out with. All that being said. It was still nice and fun. Although there were some young people at times that come in and think they are living out a scene from Animal House and get a little stupid. Yes, imagine that, people are bars getting stupid. Only problem I had was even though there is no smoking inside, people would light up anyways. No one seemed to stop them or tell them to put it out. I mean, the bathroom with the faux-finish marble walls and the vinyl teal mated with green booths and chairs? How can you not be simultaneously disturbed and amused? The Rolling Stone's "Gimme Shelter" was playing as we walked in, and I knew it was going to be a good night. Stephy gets it right again.... This place is blocks away from my work and if I didn't work in Glendale I probably never would know about it and be lossed forever. But I do know about it...I do love it...and it does always start my weekend off on the right note....I think thats D-Flat on my face. If the neon bursting blue wasnt penetrating your soul when you walked in it would remind me of your everyday average dive bar but one in someplace like Southern Illinois, not one on San Fernando. Its exaxctly how I remembered little bars all over the midwest, but like I said, the blue changed everything. They have a nice little patio outside as well if you can't take the smoking aloud inside...then again, there will probably be people smoking outside. You can also order pizza's and have them delivered there. Or if you in the mood for Mexican, just walk next door and grab some tacos. The drinks are good and gin and tonics are reasonably priced at $5.25. The decor here is nice, lots of blue vinyl booths and chairs and blue lights. The waitress was attentive, stopping by our booth a couple times to ask if we needed new drinks and to bring us a cup of pretzels. They have something called an Internet Jukebox which, despite having "Internet" right there in the name, I am unable to find much information about on the web so I don't really know how it works. It basically looks like a computer in a jukebox cabinet with a touch screen and album cover scans. It boasts having 100,000 songs. I started at A and paged through to D and the selection looked pretty comprehensive. They get kudos for the complete lack of beer company paraphernalia like the neon signs and mirrors that clutter up a lot of bars, but I really could have done without the big screen TV tuned to the Fox sports network, especially since they were showing a rodeo. Ugh. Overall though, the atmosphere was pretty nice. I liked it. read more

Yep this place is a totall dive bar...but a pretty cool one. I don't go very often but the few times that I've had a decent time. It's nothing fancy but has cheap drinks and friendly bartenders. That's all you really need for a good night so no complaints here. Be sure to go during holiday season. They have some pretty awesome cracked out decorations! read more

I went here a lot back in the day when they had the old lady waitresses. I just recently visited on a Sunday afternoon. It was cool and chill. not much going on. This place must get packed on the weekends. The beer selection is weak. Apparently they didn't get the memo on IPA's! Tip:DO not freaking DRINK AND DRIVE! If there is such a possibility as walking into a bar and having the picture in your head match EXACTLY what the bar looks like, the blue room is just that. its a dive in every sense of the word. its a pretty small venue, cheap booze, lots of "regulars", a jukebox (mp3) in place of a dj, and girls who shouldnt be giving lap dances giving lap dances. the place is covered wall to wall currently with paper skeletons for the h-ween festivities which just adds to the "divey" atmosphere. the funny thing about this place is that i cant tell you why i had such a good time (i spent a good deal of money, no "real" dance floor, the attractive girl ratio was not in my favor), but this place is awesome. next time im in the burbank area, i will def. be making another stop. read more

Great place to go for some drinks and conversations......pretty much that's all you can do when you're at THE BLUE ROOM. Inside(when it's not too crowded) you can cozy up in the booth with your drinking partner and listen to that loud jukebox. And if you're looking for an intimate atmosphere....the patio area is always nice, but be aware of other patrons that might be listening in to your conversations. read more

The owners of this bar should be ashamed of themselves. When you drive past this bar and see the sign you think "this bar has to be good". At least that's what I thought. I was hoping it might be an escape from the typical Burbank scene full of foux millionaires listening to a crappy DJ acting like bad-asses, but that's exactly what I got. You will not walk in and feel a warm bath of nostalgia. You will feel like you've somehow managed to transport yourself to a trailer park full of meth addicts who are still into listening to Eminem and Korn. Don't go here if you use more than ten brain cells, otherwise you might get distracted by the gigantic old television that monopolizes an entire wall. read more
