This was my first time here and it won't be my last. What a beautiful interior, attentive staff and QR menu. Order through your phone by scanning the QR code and even put that way too. For those of us that don't need our server asking us every 5 minutes about everything this is a plus. My friend and I ordered appetizers to share and had a fun time. Really loved the calamari and the amount in the plate. The jalapeño corn poppers and the spicy dipping sauce were pretty good and opened up a core memory. The staff were friendly and helpful. After 5 months with no date nights due to a new baby, this was the perfect location. The crisp September night, live music, and beautiful sunset couldn't be beat. The food was delicious. I was hesitant as I don't like the Short Pump location. The fried zucchini was good (could have use dL a little more seasoning), but the ranch was amazing. I ordered the wedge salad without blue cheese and a kids order of fried shrimp and fries. (I haven't been eating much and can't stomach an adult sized meal). My husband had the fish and chips. He mentioned the fish could use a little more seasoning, but overall was good. The issue with had is with the new ordering system. We rarely had refills on our drinks, I wanted more water but was never able to get some, my husband wanted hot sauce and salt/pepper, but due to the new ordering system he never received them. He sat there and waited for a long time. He didn't get it until I finished my food and his food was then cold. I have no problem ordering online if the wait staff is going to be more tentative. We were charged an automatic 20% when we did not even have good service by the staff. No one came to ask if we needed anything, refill drinks, etc. This needs to change. Please don't take a good restaurant and ruin the experience due to these changes. read more

The VIEW was incredible. We came here on a double date and wanted to try all the things on the menu, but I ended up going for the Shrimp and grits that they hit out of the park. Only ding I wanted more it was so good. The view of the lake, boats, board felt like I was in cape cod. Love how they are always trying out new cocktail recipes to the menu. My partner loved the crab dip. Lastly, I love how they incorporated technology. Instead of waiting a million years after the server leaves the table to ask for help, you can push a button and the come right over. Absolutely love this. Haven't seen it done in any other restaurants in the U.S. even though this is common in South Korea. Recommend for the views, innovation and seafood. read more

My friend and I visited The Boathouse for apps and dessert one Thursday evening and had a wonderful time! The new mobile order/payment is pretty seamless and the service was great. We enjoyed the three appetizers we shared - zucchini chips, hushpuppies, and truffle fries - and the accompanying sauces were tasty. The location and views of the water are stunning, and we were able to take some lovely golden hour pictures before heading back into the restaurant for dessert. The warm skillet cookie and banana bread pudding were hot and delicious, but a little too sweet. We wish they had more vegetarian options (although it is a seafood restaurant so understandable) but overall would recommend for an outdoors summer meal. read more

Stopped in for happy hour on a Tuesday evening with my husband and mother. Promptly seated at a high-top in the bar- hostess was a bit aloof and otherwise occupied. Bartender was serving us- also a bit curt, but we could tell she was hustling so we didn't expect pleasantries. We ordered a dozen and a half of the $1 oysters in all three styles, some roasted clams, Brussels sprouts, calamari, hush puppies, and truffle fries. We all had beverages, me nonalcoholic. Clams were nothing to write home about, but all the other dishes impressed us. Santa visiting the tables was a nice touch. The atmosphere hasn't changed in years, maintaining a classy but casual ambiance. Of note- husband was scolded (mildly) for taking a cookie from the cookie table. The bartender matter-of-factly informed him it was a cookie bar with Santa and included a fee. Hey, Boathouse- there was no signage or menu enclosures indicating as much. And Santa was visiting everyone anyway without charging us so I was a bit confused. Suffice it say, she didn't charge him but it sure came across as a slap on the hand. Our party of 14 went to The Boathouse Sunday Park today as part of our Mother's Day celebration. What a beautiful day and fabulous lunch we all enjoyed! The buffet was amazing, with special shout outs about the crab cakes, Yukon mashed potatoes, and the shrimp and grits! And the mini desserts? Wow! Our servers, Tommy and Holly, did a fabulous job of making sure that our needs were met. They were very polite and attentive to our very large group. Excellent service and excellent food - the views over Swift Creek are lovely too. They did have seating inside but on a nice summer evening, the deck just can't be beat! Some seats had a little too much sun as several guests kept requesting to *not* sit in certain tables but otherwise good shade for just about everywhere. The prices are a bit high, but quality food abounds - especially the steak for my wife. Lots of seafood options and not as many if you aren't into that, so keep that in mind. They do have several good appetizers and drinks for happy hour which I believe went until 6pm. My wife really enjoyed the Sea Ghost! Will definitely be back for another night - particular occasion was for Father's Day for my father-in-law. read more

Went during happy hour and sat at the tables in the bar. If you go before 6pm Monday to Friday they have specials on drinks and several half price appetizers which is what we had. Started with the fresh orange juice drink for $5.50 and it was so good. We had a half dozen oysters for $7.50, asparagus side for $6, fried zucchini $6, and mussels for $7. All was so delicious. You have to look at the menu on your phone, place your own order and pay which includes the tip all on your phone. It is shared with the server and others. I guess it's the future. The place is located on a scenic river or lake. They have an outdoor patio and bar area with live music when we were there. read more

The restaurant was beautiful! Food however was a different story. The Chesapeake omelette sounded good but it was horrible- no flavor and overcooked. The ham inside of it was brown- just not appetizing at all. The Rockefeller oysters also had no flavor. Just some simple salt and pepper goes a long way. I reserved an igloo for date night and it was wonderful. Only $15/pp for the igloo right on the water (seasonal). I came at a good time, just before the beautiful sunset. We also made it in time to order the 3-course meal. The igloo had a little heater, so you still need to dress warm and wear a coat, but it was a good temperature inside the igloo for it to be a February night. The food was good quality seafood. We had 2 sea ghost drinks split between the two of us and it lived up to the hype. The prices were reasonable for such fine dining. We had such a unique first experience at boathouse. Service is horrible they automatically add 20% to your bill no matter how many people even if your just at the bar. It use to be an upscale classy place with superb hospitality NOT ANY MORE. the view is the best can't beat that so just have that in mind your paying for location not food and definitely not the service. read more

We came to the Midlothian Sunday Park - The Boathouse location tonight to celebrate a dear friends birthday. We had the pleasure of have Xaveria as a waitress. Keep in mine we had a 7 year old and 19month old with us, she was beyond attentive. During the pandemic, we continued to frequent Hopewell, Sunday Park, and Downtown. Xaveria was a breath of freaking air, so kind, she kept a sweet smile throughout the night! We will be back, and plan to request Xaveria upon our return! Food was subpar and service was slow (waited 15+ min after our reservation time for our table, at least 20 min for drinks, and an additional 20 min for the small amount of food ordered with drinks). Being asked for a credit card upfront was off-putting and really was the death knell for my experience. I've heard never go to a place just once, but once was plenty more than enough for me. Our food was cooked really well (except for the asparagus being a little salty) and it came.out so fast. But the kicker was Eli. He was personable and knowledgeable.
