We were recommended this body shop after an accident on Lake Shore drive. It was nearby and had good reviews so we took a gamble. It paid off. The shop had fantastic people working at the front desk. Most places provide reassurance that they will "do a great job and not to worry" but these guys really did. I have gone to TBS many times of the past 15 year but just had a terrible experience and will not be going back. They ordered the wrong part. Then refused to take accountability for it. Instead of offering to make it right, they decided to pick a fight with their customer over it. The two employees started shouting and making threats first at each other then at me. They refused to return my keys to me unless I paid the invoice in full even though the work was not completed correctly and a new part had to be ordered. Pretty sure that is not legal. There are plenty of body shops out there who value their customers. These guys do not. Perhaps not surprisingly, while I was waiting for my issue to be resolved, they got into a fight with another customer who was there. Yikes. Buyer beware. read more

My review is way over due (from last year) but still wanted to give this business 5 stars as I'm going back for small work soon. My car had a few big scratches and one big dent at the corner left. Tim was wonderful, inspected what needed to get done and quoted me a very amazing price, very affordable. I checked the price with different places before coming here and they were so expensive. All the work for my car only took 2 days, very fast comparing to another shop. I was very happy with the work, my car looked beautiful like nothing ever happened to it. A friend recommended The Body Shop and I was very satisfied with the cost, customer service, and quality of work! I got a couple other estimates and they were not even close to the price they gave me here. It is also commendable that they offered the option to reduce the cost by not "blending" the bumper and fender color. This is an older car so I didn't need the paint to match the bumper exactly 100%, and it still looks great. Most shops would probably just do the work without explaining and charge the extra amount. I can't say enough good things about The Body Shop. I've always side eyed body shops and such because of the reputations they have for ripping people off. I was involved in an accident where a driver blew a red light and t-boned me. I brought my car to the body shop for repairs. They worked with my and the other drivers insurance to get my car back to pristine shape. I had some additional work needed on my fender that they took care of for ridiculously cheap. Several years ago my wife had her BMW's front end reputed after an accident. Recently I noticed the passenger side turn signal was protruding from the front body panel. After taking it apart I noticed that there were two issues that were dealt with in other than professional ways. The trim piece at the bottom of the headlight housing had been broken in the accident and had been epoxied back into place. Rather than being replaced. Also, I noticed that the turn signal bulb holder had been glued and the gasket that seals the bulb into place had been cut (rather poorly at that) from another gasket. I tell this to make all aware that they should be extra attentive to what and how the repairs to your car are to be made. New parts or repaired old parts. I am now going to have to replace the turn signal because the repair wasn't done properly and time has caught up to the part. please be aware! read more

Seriously don't look anywhere else - every person at this body shop is professional, thorough, great with communication, and go above and beyond for your vehicle. I brought my car in bad shape and was anxious because it was leased and the lease ended in 10 days. Tim, (which is truly one of the most professional nicest people I've ever met) listened to all my concerns, told me what the process was, what he was going to do for me and took the time to explain to me how the shop does care about it's customers. I'm normally very picky and skeptical when it comes to body shops, I think that's a somewhat common, but you can tell by meeting with any person there that they're there to do their job, are honest and really want to help people. Tim was able to get my deductible back and the team took care of additional scratches free of charge and acted like it was no big deal. Recently had my Subaru Legacy repaired, and they did an incredible job. I dropped it off after hours and put my key in the slot. They said it would take about 5 days for the repair, and sure enough, it was ready on the 5th day. Not only did they repair the damage perfectly, but they also had the car expertly washed/cleaned/detailed while it was in the shop. The price was roughly half the quote at Leo's, and I am really glad I went with the Body Shop. I can't recommend them enough. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! Unless you want to have it disappear for a month and a half. My car was a victim of a hit and run on Ashland, the tow company that came by to help recommend "The Body Shop" saying he would take It there with no charge. I then was contacted by Tim who originally told me the car was going to be done in an estimated 10-12 days...... Tim kept telling me he would keep me "up to date" with the car and how far along it was getting, well I found myself calling him constantly and asking for updates.... He never called once after the initial call. One month later Tim keeps telling me they need to do more work and needs to have the insurance out to do more estimates so he can get as much money from the insurance as possible. Basically he kept pushing out the date as long as possible. He then told me not to worry and would pay for my rentacar so I would stop worrying and calling him. Then finally a MONTH AND A HALF LATER. He tells me my car is ready. When I come to pick it up he tells me some BS story how he never told me he would pay for my rentacar and I was basically SOL and told me IT IS WHAT IT IS!!! I signed up for a Yelp account just so I could review The Body Shop! My car, my love, Lance, was unfortunately on the receiving end of a drunken driver's joyride earlier this year. (I was luckily asleep in my apartment) The guys at The Body Shop were not only recommended by my insurance agent, but also the adjuster who came to the scene gave them rave reviews. It took them a full month to get my car back to normal, but what an amazing process. They contacted the insurance people for me, they updated me when something went wrong (broken axel - yikes), and the car was running beautifully again. I recently brought my car back to get the air conditioning fixed and again they came through with a great price and excellent service. I wouldn't trust my car anywhere else. read more

People, working there, don't know how to estimate their time and won't honor their promises. Service for my car, originally estimated as 3-4 weeks job, took nearly 6 weeks. Last week I called them every day, and every time it was 'tomorrow or next day we will finish'. Finally, I've been told I can come and take my car. I took my car here for body work after an accident. My car was in the shop for two weeks to complete over $3,000 worth of work. Luckily this place is close to my house and the car rental place, so I could just walk over when the work was complete. They kept telling me they would call me to tell me when the car was ready, but in reality, they never did, so I always had to call to followup. When the car was ready, I checked it out, only to find some minor work that still needed to be done. They took care of it right away and my car was finally ready just hours later. The Body Shop was selected by the party who ran into us, but was also recommended by Norm's Auto Clinic, where I have taken my cars for 25 years. PAUL was gracious & diligent from Day One. VAL helped with the estimate for repairs then the bill came in UNDER the estimate! As other Yelp reviews have indicated, we found some scratches & paint transfer FIXED in addition to contracted work. This is the second time I've been to The Body Shop and once again my little Smart car was fixed for WAY cheaper than what the dealership quoted me. All parts are from the manufacturer. All advice is genuine. I've never felt pressured to get anything fixed that was unnecessary. Tim is awesome! Be very careful of these guys. They have a deal with the local tow truck providers in the area to scout out for accidents, get people to give up their cars and get them to their shop. They give the tow company a kickback for the wreck and pocket the storage charges. They charge $150.00 per day for storage costs which they claim your insurance will pay for. They also claim they are just trying to "help you" when they're really helping themselves to storing your wreck and getting cash for the storage fee. They claim your insurance company will cover all the costs and that they're just good guys. Don't buy it. read more

I did some real damage to a Porsche I bought. Was referred to these guys. With pain in my eyes...and fear in my heart...I trusted them to rebuild my car. And that they did. Most importantly...they gave me great comfort that they cared for the car about as much as I did. They cared about the quality of work...not just how much they were going to get paid. I have a had a couple subsequent issues and they have been beyond great in dealing with them and standing behind their work. Can I give any anything less than one star? My car was towed to the body shop after an accident. My insurance gave us a rental and everything seemed fine. The body shop kept delaying, I.'d be told it would be ready "by the end of the week, so I'd call at the end if the week and be told, "Tuesday." And so it went for about a month. When the car was finally ready I went to pick it up at the appointed time and waited over an hour because the bumper "wasn't perfect" and the 'perfectionist' at the body shop couldn't give me anything less. I think the car home. The car looked good but it have out the next day. Thinking it might be just because of the sort cold weather we took it to the dealership. Turns out, the body shop had missed serious damage to the frame that made the care dangerous to drive. So, no car again, and no rental because we used up the 30 days our ins policy gives while the car sat at the shop not being fixed for a month! Will they pay for the rental now? read more

I'm happy to give these guys all my money when it comes to anything auto repair related. I've had two amazing experiences with them. No one likes a car accident, and they took the stress away. Tim is the greatest guy and I trust all of dudes that work there. 1st time: A teenager almost took my entire drivers side door off, she almost took my arm off. I was in front of the Green Mill on Broadway and Lawrence and couldn't even get my barriers after seeing my beautiful "Black Betty" smashed up. The event that unfolded may seem weird, because this really nice man came up to me, handed me his card and said the tow truck is on it's way. My friend and I researched the place on our smartphone and found it to be legit. It took no time for the tow to arrive, which they added to the body shop bill (awesome because it was then covered by insurance). They are right next door to Enterprise Rental, so they was a snap. It took about two weeks to fix my car, which is fine by me because I don't want it rushed. And to top it all off... they filled my gas tank, gave me an oil change and washed the inside and out!! AND took $100 off my deductible. OUTSTANDING!! 2nd time: I hit the biggest pot hole in Evanston while driving the first snow storm of the season. I'm not great with the names of parts, but the axel thingy cracked and smashed into the transmission and crushed the transfer box. It was SO scary and was stuck in bad weather. I called the tow company they work with and took only about a half hour to get to me. Again, they put the cost of the tow on my bill and again, it was covered by insurance. They worked with my insurance company (State Farm) because the estimate kept changes. When it comes to the undercarriage, you never know what's what until you get up in there. I'm fine with all of this, they didn't bother me with details. Tim kept me in the loop just fine with what was happening and when my Jeep will be ready. This time, they repaired my bumper for NO CHARGE (it was from a separate incident of city living) as well as all the good stuff of a FREE oil change & wash. These guys are THE BEST!! read more
