Last night was the first time I ever tried this restaurant. We went for an early birthday dinner. We were so IMPRESSED. We ordered shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. The presentation was awesome. Their boils are beyond good! We got king crab and little necks. Each boil comes with a few potatoes as well as some Andouille Sausage. We went early as I was bringing a 4 year old with me so I thought that it would be a long dinner. I am glad we did. It was about 2 hours. All the seafood is brought in daily from Boston. We had a great server named Jeff that was extremely knowledgeable about the dishes we chose. This is not a cheap night so be prepared to spend some money. I hope to return! read more

Dang. This place is startlingly good. The thing is, I have no idea what an authentic shrimp boil tastes like. What I do know is that if this is authentic, then my new favorite food is seafood boil. It's sticky and spicy and I don't think I have ever had shrimp cooked as beautifully as these were. There are plenty of options on the menu, the ceviche was pretty good, coffee was burnt but tolerable, but man that boil bag was absolute magic. There are sauce options for it but do yourself a favor and just get the explosion combo. Another note here, medium spicy is my go to when I try a new place simply because every restaurant has a different definition of heat. This one has a genuinely medium kick to it. I think this place was absolutely amazing!!! Tables were far spaced out. Server was very polite and brought fresh drinks as needed. We got little steamers, that were extremely fresh. On a whim, my husband, myself, and our two boys went to The Boil Shack on a Saturday night. I'd drive. By it numerous times, and finally decided to take a chance. We were not disappointed. Our waitress Raina was incredible. She was helpful, and honest. She really helped us when we were unsure of something on the menu. I cannot say enough nice things about her. She really went above and beyond! We ordered calamari, raw clams, and raw oysters, as appetizers. They were fresh and delicious. The clams and oysters were free of the grit you often see in raw seafood. My oldest ordered the king crab legs, and they were massive. He's a fussy eater, but he devoured them. The piece he let me try was tender and delicious. My youngest ordered the Mac n cheese from the kids menu. The portion was huge, but he finished half of it. That may not sound like much, but for a kid who usually has one bite and says they're done, this was a huge feat! My husband and I got the twin lobster tails. The lobster was cooked to perfection. It wasn't tough or chewy. The corn and potato really added a nice complement to the seafood. Everything was seasoned exactly as we asked. While The Boil Shack is cost prohibitive from making it a regular destination, it is perfect as a treat for the family. I definitely recommend taking a chance on them. read more

The Boil Shack has a great atmosphere, upscale but still feels like the place you can hammer your crab on the table. We had 3 people for a birthday, we had a combo #3, a cedar plank salmon and 1lb of king crab. They also do a free birthday dessert (cheesecake was fantastic). We learned quickly you can easily share 1 combo with a total of 3 people, the portion size is enormous. The salmon was perfectly cooked and amazing! This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they're doing and what they're talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Seafood is so fresh and tasty. I've been to many boil/Cajun restaurants in NYC and this place exceeds most places in NYC. Their prices is reasonable and it's 100% worth it. Pleasant atmosphere, restaurant was too warm for the weather, it was more comfortable outside than inside. Bloody Mary mix was old, I drink these on a regular, however the presentation of the drink was beautiful. I have eaten at this establishment before. That being said, this was wasn't the same experience. To start,I ordered curb side pickup.i called after waiting 7 minutes past curbside order was supposed to be ready. This was just to add lemon wedges. I was put on hold for ten minutes. I then proceeded inside to see the hold-up and why I was rudely put on hold with no help. The girl who put me on hold was doing absolutely nothing while I was still on hold and now standing inside. Just asking for lemon wedges and trying to get my order since I was already annoyed. She seemed unphased. 20 minutes past my order curbside pickup time I finally recieved my food. Please note they were not busy at all. Mabey 12 to 15 people in total. I did not get utensils,my portions were crap,no bread,Dry dirty rice,and lobster and crab claws were barely cut and very hard to extract meat from. 2 tiny slices on sausage per order one potato cut in half in 1 order and half an ear of corn in the other order. If this food didn't cost 150 for curbside pickup that I had to go in and wait for anyway I would not have been so annoyed. The hostess with no care at all is what set me off. So, I am a travel nurse who recently arrived here for an assignment. Tonight I wanted some good food, something different, but yet something familiar. I did a search and found this place and I thought to myself, there is no way Cajun food could be good in Albany, New York. But, I decided to try it. I am so glad that I went to this place. First of all, the service was excellent. The wait was almost nonexistent. but most of all, the quantity and quality of the food was awesome. Awesome shrimp, awesome crawfish, awesome potatoes, and awesome corn. Honestly the sausage was just OK but that doesn't matter. The sauce and the quality of the food was amazing and I couldn't stop eating and I still have plenty left over. If you like seafood, especially with a Cajun twist, you need to get yourself to this place immediately. I will definitely be back there and I will definitely recommend them to anyone. In this stressful world that we live in today, especially since I am a nurse, I am once again in a happy place thanks to this restaurant. Keep up the good work!!!! read more

I love the food here. i've been going here for over a year now.. i decided to switch it up and get the combo #2.. But i didn't know it came with the #1 aswell, which came to a $75 dollar plate for myself. I am a waitress myself, so if i seen a young girl ordering a $75 dollar plate i would make a comment like "you are aware it comes with ______" or "that's a big plate for a little girl" Something. my waitress didn't even flinch when i ordered 5-6 Pounds of Seafood. And i found out the reason why. 20% Gratitude added to all checks. i didn't eat Even half of my meal and she commented on that and i told her i definitely ordered the wrong thing & she didn't offer to take money off, nothing. I live alone, i'm a college student, it was a majority of my money to pay for this lunch. My suggestion is, Don't get anything that Says MP without checking the price! read more

Horrible meal. Over cooked shrimp, like Chinese buffet type. Poor quality crab, horrible andouille sausage. Only thing that tasted good in our seafood broil were the crawfish. They skimped out on the potatoes, and corn. Said 4 of each, but actually 4 pieces of potato, and 1 ear of corn cut into 4 pieces. It really was a joke. Decided to try the book shack for lunch. I love seafood so I was excited to try it out. I ordered the lobster roll. The bread was good and the lobster was nice and tender but the sandwich overall was just ok and lacked seasoning. Normally red potatoes are boiled in seasoning. These potatoes had no flavor. When I placed my order I asked if it was spicy. The waitress added to add something spicy. I should've taken her up on it. They place smells amazing and looks a bit fancier on the inside than I would have expected, but what really matters is the food. The boil is what is popular, so I went for it. Little neck clams, corn, potato, and sausage in the lemon pepper sauce (which, when I couldn't decide between that and the buttery garlic, I was informed every sauce is built on the buttery garlic, so in essence I got both). The boil is served right in the bag with the sauce, which meant I could slather sauce all over everything. The clams were tasty (there were approximately a dozen), the corn and sausage just right. The only thing I could have wanted was a couple more potatoes, but everything tasted so good, I was quite pleased. I think this is the kind of place you have to go back and try other things, but if you want what they're famous for, you can't go wrong with the boil! read more

So 4 people walk into a restaurant, 2 of them having brought some deal on "Local Flavor". When seated we asked if they deal 2 of us brought would be valid and was told "absolutely" . Food at best was just ok, after ordering 3 starters and 4 main courses, none of us were "full". In fact, I'm sat in hooters right now having just left the "Boik Shack" ordering wings and a stiff drink. The bill comes and they take out cards and then inform us that the deals we brought are not valid.... but they take our phones and redeem both vouchers and then charge our cards. Spoke with the manager and he basically called us liers and said that the server did NOT tell us it was ok. After much debating, I paid and left! After trying to pull the heads of a pound of shrimp swimming in butter (half of which I'm sure we're bad and didn't get eaten), I will NOT be recommending this place to any living sole. I have never been treated like that by anyone, not even the ex husband! I will say the Brussels Sprouts were good. OMG I'm so angry typing right now. read more

The explosion and garlic butter sauce in their boils is really gross - well let's just say you better love horde of butter. Food was drowning in it and not really sure it was even real butter. Dinner for 4 w appetizer and no drinks came to $110- that kind of money I'd find a better atmosphere that said i will return one more time to try the poke bowls which are only served at lunch times - that board looked good. It's a nice bar/restaurant. The food was good but most things were at market price. The salmon was cooked perfectly and had a tasty sauce over it. My boyfriend had the King Crab. Went back for the lunch poke bar and it was just plain unacceptable. Their Poke bar is open from 11-3pm on weekdays, and I came in around 2pm so I understand that it was almost over, but it's just unacceptable to not serve fresh food when it comes to raw fish. First off, the two servers had no clue what anything was, and they seemed annoyed at us for even walking in. I brought friends who are not as familiar to poke, and when they asked about a type of sauce or topping or something else on the menu, they had no clue what it was. And when I asked for something, they asked me to point to it because they don't know what I'm talking about (I asked for kani and edemame). They were a little low on salmon and tuna, and we all wanted spicy salmon, but instead of getting fresh ones, they tried to make whatever they had left fit for all three of us. It was also already pre-soaked in spicy mayo. The fish didn't look fresh, we almost left at the sight of it but we figured since we were already there, might as well try it. The avocado, we definitely skipped because it was ALL brown. The greens were wilted, so we opted for white rice which was the only thing fresh because it was still in a rice cooker. Me and my friends felt sick afterwards. None of us ate our whole bowl and left still hungry because we each caught a piece of chewy, slimy salmon and had to spit it out. I definitely don't recommend coming here for poke unless you're coming in the first hour, then maybe you'll have fresh food. The boil combos are still great though. read more

Came here for dinner. I had their lobster roll with mac and cheese on the side. The lobster was light and the bread was well buttered and toasted. I did wish the lobster was dressed with more flavor. I added some lemon to mine, some mayonnaise would have been a good touch as well. Will come back to try the other seafood they offer. My daughter and I decided to try "The Boil Shack" today as we used to enjoy the previous restaurant that was in this location. We went in a Saturday at lunch time. The place was immaculate and the decor fits the Louisiana theme. We were seated promptly and it was long after that our waitress came and took our order. We ordered the pick your own seafood boil with shrimp & snow crab legs as we do not like craw fish...actually I'm not sure if I don't like them...I have no idea how to eat them lol we chose the explosion sauce at the suggestion of our waitress...what a great recommendation, it was absolutely delicious. Any way there was plenty in this boil to feed 2 people. Along with the seafood it had sausage, potatoes and corn in it. We ordered a side of slaw and maple corn bread. The slaw was delicious. It was nice to have something cool on the back of the spice from the broil. I'm a Lover of corn bread and was excited to try maple flavored and it looked phenomenal when it was delivered to the table drenched in butter. Unfortunately I was severely disappointed. It was completely dry and brittle and cold. I reported this to our waitress and she quickly replaced it with a different side, we reluctantly chose hush puppies, afraid of the same dryness we experienced with the bread but...we were actually pleasantly surprised. They were delicious. They came with a yummy dipping sauce but I mostly dipped mine in the broil juices. That sauce is AMAZING. Although I was bummed about the bread it was remedied quickly. The waitress stated that was not the usual texture so maybe we got a bad batch. However I will not allow that to stop me from going back. I would order the same meal all over again but I am looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu. Lastly I thought the prices were reasonable. Go Get your Boil on!!!!
