I would give this place 5 stars for Megan's service- she's definitely worth a 5 star review ! She was sweet and attentive !! But the 1 star is for "cleanliness" of the restaurant. Came in with my boyfriend tonight for a date night & it was DIRTYYYYY. Initially, the blonde haired host sat us at a dirty table when we first got there. Booth was dirty, table was dirty and had crumbs and sauce all over it and the floor looked really nasty and like it hadn't been mopped in weeks. Not to mention, there was an actual tray blocking the left entrance to the booth & the tray was covered with crumbs of food and the potato salad they save. The plates the host gave us when we sat down were also dirty (at this point we should've just left tbh).... But, I asked her if we can relocate to watch the hockey & soccer games on, in which she did move us closer but grabbed those same nasty plates with leftover food on them from the first table she sat us at and took them to the new table she sat us at. Anddddd, it gets worse that second table was also dirty and had kimchi sauce all over it and other sauces on it. the grill inside looked super unsanitary && like it was stacked with the day's worth of food in it. then, the floor once againnn!!!! I'm sitting there and my shoes are slipping and sliding on something underneath the table. At this point, I'm so grossed out I didn't want to look under the table with my phone flash light and see what it was. The table itself was also sticky on top and underneath and the booth again ‍ I really wanted to leave at this point, but my boyfriend insisted we stay. We had a clear view of the kitchen as well and there were workers touching fresh food plates with the same gloves they're using to bus/clean the tables with. Not to mention the food all over the floor in the kitchen. There were also "wet floor" signs all over the restaurant too- but it wasn't like a fresh mop, it was like the floors had a coat of grease to it. I'm surprised honestly no one slipped. The food was good but I didn't eat much because I was so grossed out at this point. Megan was honestly the only reason why we stayed, she really turned our visit around. Thank you Megan! && I want to state, I've been in the restaurant industry for over 15+ years now, and even when you "don't want to look at these things or notice them when you go to eat".... you just do... and I don't complain about a dining experience everrrrr. -unless there was something truly truly wrong. We had not been here in many years, but decided to come here before going to the movies at the AMC. The prices have gone up from last time in the menu has significantly changed. We came here during a time that was too late for being lunch and too early for being dinner so we had no issues being seated on a weekend. The ambience remains the same with very modern dark and neon colors inside. Our server was super friendly and helpful, guiding us through the new menu items. They no longer place everything on the table as they used to you have to order what you actually want. They still don't have the fish cakes back, but they have other options. The portions are big, but you can ask for half portions. Our grill had an issue where it would heat up too much and it became a fire hazard. This also made it so that the grill had to be replaced more frequently which they did. Overall, we had a really good experience and my boyfriend really love the Al pastor tacos. They also have multiple rise options that they used to not have. Comparing A prices to other Korean barbecues. They are still on the lower part of the range and I think it's a good value for what you get. We will most likely be back when we go back to the movies. read more

I finally used a gift card I got for Christmas. This place usually has a huge line outside, which is why I avoid it. My husband and I stopped in at 3pm last Friday and there was no line. The service was quick. The prices are reasonable for all you can eat. I especially loved the fried fish appetizer, the bulgogi beef, and the brisket. I enjoyed the potato salad, but my husband was not a fan. The salad was good, but not necessary. Id rather enjoy everything else haha. What stole the show was the lychee soju cocktail! So good! We went out with friends. Service was slow, felt intentional that they did super small portions for such a large group and then took roughly 30 minutes in between the portions so everybody was impatiently waiting to get any food in them. The waiter was changing the grill pan and literally dropped hot oil all over husbands arm burning him. He apologized gave him a napkin and then walked away. Did not check on him again. Husbands arm has 2nd degree burns on it. He had to go ask the front desk for burn cream and was not asked why they just handed it over. I'm assuming this is a common occurance. 10/10 AYCE Dinner - It's been over two years since my last visit, but we finally stopped by after my boyfriend got a gift card. I was honestly impressed by the meat quality. I usually stick to the basics like steak and pork bulgogi, and both were delicious. The steak was my favorite because it's incredibly tender and easy to eat. The corn cheese was just okay since it needed more cheese in each cup. They also have some unique sides like bulgogi cheese fries and cilantro rice. Wow how have I not been here after every pay day?? Hands down such a special experience, we set up a work dinner and everyone left so full and the food, service and staff was top notch. I don't mind the cooking, but I highly suggest you ask your party how they like their meat cooked (crispy, medium etc) maybe not everyone has the same cook preferences. For drinks they have a lot of boba and the strawberry milk drink was super sweet but good. You definitely will smell like a beach bonfire after haha, the smoke exhausts pretty well but that's how KBBQ is. I recommend any of the belly meats and the bulgogi, and the bulgogi fries are kinda small but splittable for two. We typically don't order any chicken as that takes a lot of time to cook down, otherwise most pork and beef will cook within minutes. Depends on your night I guess. The food is great and the service is pretty good but you can wind up waiting for stuff if it's busy. you get your meats on those rectangle trays and you have those chambered dishes for different sauces. they change out the grill pretty frequently on their own but you can also get it done upon request. i haven't loved the mixed drinks. they're all very sweet. their fountain drinks are always high quality with good carbonation to syrup ratio. it's a coke house. one thing to think about is it's very oily in there. i don't think the exhaust system is very good compared to other similar places i've been. the floor is slippery and you leave with your skin and and glasses greasy and your clothes and hair smelling like meat. the four stars is for that. read more

I will even go out of my way to say that he set the standard for how all servers should be in the industry. It was our first time and the menu was very big we went with the premium meats. My favorite was probably the skirt steak the Wagyu wasn't the best tasted kinda grainy the same as the brisket a grainy taste. However the rest of the meats were pretty good quality. TL;DR: lousy service, decent food, aggressive mishandling of payment, unsanitary, negligence, and condescension. Upon entering, the hostess greeted us both and we waited before being sat. Once seated, it took us around 5-10 minutes to figure out what we wanted. We had never been to a place like this before so we were hoping for a bit more help. The menu didn't help much either so we decided on trying a few things and requesting more as the night continued. Our server at the time was Angie. Throughout the interaction, she was polite and gave the recommendations of salad and white rice (we listened and glad we did. That salad was delicious.) My boyfriend ordered a Kirin Ichiban (it was happy hour) and I ordered only water. As for food, we ordered, spicy chicken, Hawaiian steak, Hawaiian bacon, beef bulgogi, samgyubsal, sweet garlic beef belly, red wine samgyubsal, shrimp, and honey chicken. The standouts were the honey and spicy chicken as well as the sweet garlic beef belly and beef bulgogi. Everything else was okay. The shrimp though tasted old. It basically disintegrated in my mouth, which was concerning. 20-30 minutes in, we received our actual server: Kevin. I don't know what was going on through his head but man, were we ignored from then on. I asked for water and it took ANOTHER server from a completely different area to help. That same server took our dirty plates away and was very kind and considerate. I wish I had gotten his name because he deserves a good shout out. As for Kevin, he was very condescending and had this attitude of wanting to be done with talking to us. He would always be at the corner of out table just waiting to leave. Our fire had gone out at one point because a server changed it out to keep things clean but unfortunately the movement blew it out. It took us around 6-10 minutes to get any help from our designated server who said, "yeah that's what happens when you move things." Huh? All it takes is a simple, "no worries I'll fix that." Yikes. Another weird thing that happened was that my boyfriend ordered another Hawaiian steak. It arrived at the table via a different server but after some time of not touching it (we were cooking the other items,) Kevin came by and just took our plate to give it to another table??? That's unsanitary not to mention rude. After some time, my boyfriend realized he never received his Kirin Ichiban. It took us yet more time to get any attention from Kevin. By the time he got to us, my boyfriend spoke up and was misunderstood 3 times. It's like he didn't know what the restaurant sold. I said, "beer" to help the connection bridge through to which he responded with, "yeah, I know it's a beer." Again, in a very condescending way. The beer was basically the last thing to arrive and it wasn't the correct one either. Apparently they ran out of it so they just decided to give ny boyfriend Terra without asking if that alternative was okay. That's alright, we like Terra but there was absolutely no effort to communicate the issue. Now that Kevin messed up he knew how to laugh and be apologetic By the time it came to payment, the woman at the stand snatched my boyfriend's card. Yes, SNATCHED. I had to do a double take because she seemed busy talking to another worker about something important. After continuing to not say anything to us, she tossed us the receipt and walked away. Her name? Christine! A nice dishonorable mention. After reviewing the receipt, we didn't receive the happy hour price for the beer we didn't even originally order! What a lousy place. We're regulars at Gen Korean BBQ in Fullerton, and this past Saturday night my fiancé, his family, and I had another solid experience. It was busy as expected for a Saturday, but everything still came out in a timely manner. Keana took care at the start of the meal and was only with us for about 30 minutes, but she did a great job getting us set up. My fiancé's family and I don't eat pork, and she was mindful of that right away, which we appreciated. She made sure our grill was good to go and checked in enough to make us feel taken care of without overdoing it. She was amazing as a stand-in! Daniel was our server at 6pm on 4/25/25, and he was very attentive and constantly made sure we had everything we needed. Daniel was super nice and friendly, but so was other staff as they happily changed grills for us often and asked if we wanted water or anything else. We were sat on a smaller table grill in the inner corner of the restaurant but they gave us a little stand up table to put our meat dishes on -- the spacing was very efficient! They also celebrate birthdays (we listened to 4 different birthday songs haha)! I think my favorite meats are the honey soy beef belly and the short rib fingers, but we got to try so many different meats from just the normal menu that you can't find anywhere else. Everything was really good! I tend to like to get the tofu soup as well to help wash food down and a bowl of salad with rice paper to make refreshing little wraps. I only wish they'd bring the macaroni salad and fish cakes back as side dishes! But the dips and green tea salt are wonderful. All in all, we love Gen and would definitely come back! Ok so let's start of by saying... when we first walked in (mind you we've been here many times) and the hostess wasn't the greatest and it wasn't a great start.. I was ready to write a not so great review.... The reason for the 5 star was because our server Julian and Johnny turned everything around for us. The attention to detail that Johnny gave us, from just the simple introduction, trying to learn our name, the little things make such a big difference. Julian was constantly changing out our grill, Johnny offered to help cut our steak when he saw us struggling, Julian checking in on our sides and our order... it was great. We didn't feel rushed to eat and was able to enjoy everything we ordered. The #1 steak was good, the short rib was great, and so much more.. My girlfriend and I came in around 9PM yesterday, there was about a 15 minute wait so we didn't mind it. We got sat down at our table, and we started off with this lovely waitress who was really nice to us, super attentive, took our order, and left. We were then seen by another man, who had told us he had gotten back from his break and he was going to take over. Cool no worries right? I cannot stress enough how rude he was, and how much attitude he had. There were so many times where he would slam/quickly put down items on our table and would rush off. Every time he would ask us if he needed anything he would one give us little to no time to answer or two completely forget what we ordered. We didn't get our drinks until way after and I had to ask a manager to bring them over. Towards the end of our experience, it was very clear he was pushing for a tip based on how he kept checking in, either that or he felt the pressure of a manager being on him. Whatever it was it was weird the whole experience was weird, and I'm not even sure if it's cause we were gay? He seemed perfectly fine with the other couples around us. The attitude of the staff, the fact that the fire kept going out under our grill, the quality of the meats themselves weren't the greatest, and for the price? You're much better off going to icanbbq in Irvine or Mr.bbq in Fullerton for a BETTER experience with nicer staff, and better selection. read more
