This is a popular seafood boil chain restaurant. There was no wait when we went on a Saturday evening. Starting with the positives, it's great that the restaurant offers a variety of seafood options, including some popular choices like snow crab legs, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, and clams. If you happen to dislike seafood there are non-seafood options, but we did not try any. However, the quality of the seafood was average and our food arrived in very staggered times. I was pretty disappointed with my last visit with Boiling Crab when usually I have a decent experience with the quality of food. I got 1.5 lbs of seafood. 1 lb of fresh crawfish and 0.5 lb of shrimp. I was very excited to get it to eat and picked it up right at the time it was ready for pickup. I drove 10 mins to home and was ready to grub. Right away I had a suspicion that they gave me frozen crawfish instead of fresh. A good amount of the crawfish were a little cold, which made me feel like I got cheated with frozen instead of fresh. I follow Boiling Crab on TikTok too and the crawfish they showed were a great deal bigger than the ones I got. Mine were very tiny, and the whole time I felt disappointed with my food. The shrimp was mushy and clearly overcooked. It wasn't a pleasant experience with the quality of food at all, and with such a high price tag attached, you would hope that it would taste better. The whole shabang sauce was too salty this time around too, that I couldn't really stomach it. I'm not really sure I'll come back to Boiling Crab for my seafood boil fixes anymore. I believe their quality and attention to detail has gone downhill and I'd rather give other seafood boil places a shot. read more

I'm really not trying to give negative reviews during these troubling times but this place really deserves 1 star. We are not new to the "crab boil" scene and love boiling crab (original garland location) and this location is like...if you went to the original location and dug through the trash and took their leftovers to make yourself a meal. We spent well over $200 here and EVERYTHING we had was disappointing. Will never be back. The shrimp was so old it literally disintegrated in your hands as you tried to peel it. The snow crabs were also not fresh with most of the pieces being half the size of the actual leg and being stuck when you break them. The clams, I literally had 5 clams for the pound and the rest were shells. Crawfish was about the only decently fresh product but even during season it's $14.99/lb!? Seasoning was WAY OFF and not like the boiling crab seasoning we're used to. We got the xxx whole shebang which felt like they literally dumped a bunch of cayenne in some butter and that was it. No distinct combination of flavors as I expect and just old dusty (literally had to peel it off of the food) heat. Also ordered fries, which were overdone and hard. I would recommend driving to the garland location or trying the plethora of other options around. Kickin Crab in carrollton is a safe bet. read more

In comparison to the other location on Walnut Ln, this place skimps on the amount of sauce/seasoning that goes to each seafood boil. Because of this, anytime I order potatoes/corns/sausages, I ask them to bag it separately so they will come with their own sauce. Each time I've ordered from here, I have to dig through the bottom of the bag to try to find excess sauce to coat my seafood better. The quality of the seafood itself is lower as well. The price point is about the same as the other location. However, they are good controlling spicy level. During this time of COVID, they are doing take out only. New space equates to new taste for The Boiling Crab in Plano. Boasting new appetizers such as loaded crab French fries and thirst quenchers to include adult beverages ( beer and margaritas). Anticipations of original flavors proved to be just as disappointing as the service. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were seated next to a couple who had the Manager at their table for an issue with their food. This was strange to us because at the Richardson/Dallas, TX location, it is rare for someone to have an issue with their food. It wasn't long before we had a Manager like experience of our own. Our waiter was the worst! He forgot everything or brought out the wrong items! We asked for garlic butter (received plain butter, after asking for it three times). We asked for water, coke refills, menus, salt and a missing order of rice that we did not receive until we'd asked for it five or six times. When we asked the waiter about items he'd forgotten, he responded with a defensive attitude as if he was providing great service. Uhhh NO! At the end of our meal, the Waiter told us he threw our tickets away.....this somehow became our problem. We had to itemize our ticket from a long list of items printed on a receipt he brought to us. After expressing disdain for this, the Waiter asked if we'd ever waited tables. We responded, no, but perhaps we should since you can screw up multiple times and nothing happens. He went on to tell us that he has been off work for 3 weeks and he did not mess up anything (seriously?). At this point we decided to express our concerns to his Manager. As you might imagine, the Manager did nothing. He didn't offer an apology or anything! If we ever return to The Boiling Crab, which I doubt, it will NOT be the Plano, TX location. Food Review: Coke: Just as strong and thirst quenching as remembered, minus the yummy crushed ice (no, the new location does not have crushed ice). Crab Fries: A large basket filled with french fries, loaded with crab meat, drizzled with garlic aioli sauce and mouth kicking seasonings. These fries are absolutely delicious from the first fry to the last and the bits and pieces of crab meat leftover in the basket. These are stamped and sealed as a MUST try! Crawfish: seasoned with rajun cajun, garlic sauce and a triple X spice, these crawfish were just ok. Unlike the taste, of the crawfish at the Richardson, TX location, these were less than pleasing. The sauce is thicker, more paste like and the flavors aren't as powerful. Sausage: the sausage is ok, but it is a different brand than that of the sausage at the Richardson, TX location. Additionally, it is served and priced differently. Crab Legs: the crab legs were served in a huge cluster, filled with meat, easy to crack open and filled with flavors. I have my tried and true favorite crab boil place, but my husband had been begging to try The Boiling Crab. I love the sink area to wash your hands. That's cool! But the food was just okay. Nothing amazing or having me abandon my favorite place. I got the pound of crab and 1/2 pound shrimp with sausage and potatoes, each with the whole shabang sauce. I asked for extra sauce, which came in the shrimp/sausage/potatoes. It seemed to be pure butter, there was oil EVERYWHERE. The potatoes desperately needed salt. The crab was good, but one pound at $42 apparently is a single cluster of small crab legs. My son got the Cajun wings, and all he could say was they were okay. The gumbo was decent, the catfish was decent, the chicken tenders were decent and the margaritas were lackluster. The staff was amazing! Although we were willing to pay for crab, potatoes and sausage, it was a no go. We'll have to come another time when they are in full swing. Service was friendly and not over attentive. We had lemon pepper wings, shrimp, crawfish and a corn. This location didn't overcook the shrimp. The flavor sack was slightly lacking with flavor, even though I ordered the 'whole sha-bang' at medium spice level. Garlic cloves were small and it was a little soupy. We did get to sign the walls and leave our family mark. Love that they had sinks in the hallway for easy cleaning. We must come back for another assessment. I will be comparing the old location and new location. Keep in mind the owner's are the same. Recipe is the same. This location has more space and can decrease the wait time. Decor is more light and airy. Dallas location has a more dark and space was limited. Wait time could be up to 1 hour - 2 hours... Food to me taste the same. Catfish was cooked perfectly! Shrimp, crawfish, and sides were cooked in the same sauce. Wings could have been more crispier. I hope they fry it first extra crispy and then toss in rub. Not fry, toss in rub, forgot customer ordered extra crispy. Then drops it back into fryer and it comes out burnt. My family's favorite spot for seafood. We used to go to the other location in Dallas, however we've started coming here since it's closer. Absolutely delicious food. I love love love all the garlic pieces but the sauce seemed a little paste-y for our liking. We ran into this texture at the Garland location as well. They have no fresh crawfish and it's all frozen so we decided To passed and not order any crawfish. Instead we ordered shrimps, oysters, wings , crab fries, fried shrimps.
