Super fun place to eat. Definitely a party like atmosphere, so I wouldn't go on a first date but it would be wild to eat something that messy in that loud of a spot on a first date, lol. My wife and I will go here and just trip on the chaos while eating fresh fish. I guess we are old now. We ordered 3 pounds of shrimp and 1 pound of crawfish with Sha-Bang sauce. The sauce was still as delicious as always, flavorful, buttery, and spicy. Chicken wings were decent. Unfortunately, the seafood quality was disappointing this time. The shrimp did not taste fresh and some were mushy. We never had this issue before, but lately the quality seems to be going downhill. Many of the shrimp were also full of poop veins. I noticed the The Boiling Crab location on Main Street slices the top of the shrimp to clean them better, and the quality there has been much better. Another frustrating thing is their live crab and live crawfish are always sold out. It feels like they only stock very limited quantities. The wait time was also extremely long. Service was not very attentive either. We had to wave our hands multiple times just to get attention, and even then the server kept forgetting our requests. The Sha-Bang sauce is still the main reason we come back, but the seafood quality and service definitely need improvement. read more

It's Memorial Day and the place is packed at 3:00 PM. The food is especially good at all the Boiling Crab locations, but this location feels right, and there is so much parking, compared to the other locations. In this particular case, I was taking out, as I bought some shrimp myself, and wanted to use the sauce to try out on some extra jumbo shrimp. Listen when it comes to Boiling Crab, I am loyal to only two locations: Rosemead and Alhambra. Tonight I brought my brother here for his very first seafood boil ever while he's visiting LA, and of course I had to introduce him to one of my ultimate favorites! And WOW -- tonight's food was extra better than usual. The flavors were so on point. My shrimp were all big and plump, perfectly cooked, and the corn (which has been hit-or-miss for me) was perfectly sweet and juicy. I put my brother onto my usual order: * Half lb shrimp + sausage, Whole Shabang mild. * Separate bag with corn & potatoes, Whole Shabang no spice. * And of course, some lemon pepper fries as an appetizer! My only complaint? The fries took 5ever and didn't arrive until after our bags hit the table -- not ideal when your hands are already covered in sauce. But honestly, our server's personality totally made up for it. She was super sweet, attentive, and had such a great attitude. Love when the service matches the vibes. I was surprised at the shrimp, they felt small but I only got a 1/2 lb and feel like I still got a lot of shrimp even if they were small in size. Other than that, the place looks about the same as it did years ago. We joined the Yelp waitlist and walked around the plaza, ending up with about a 20-minute wait at 6:30 on a Wednesday. As for the food, I still see Boiling Crab as the standard for Cajun seafood. It's never the absolute best I've had, but it's consistently good. If you're coming during peak hours with a party of fewer than six, definitely join the waitlist 1-2 hours in advance. Parking was easy with their private lot. Service was attentive, and the overall vibe was super casual. This is your classic seafood boil spot. They provide bibs and disposable gloves at the start. They're known for their Cajun sauce, and I would say it lived up to the hype- probably my favorite of the sauces. I also appreciated being able to customize the spice level according to your taste. My favorite menu items from the meal were the raw oysters, shrimp, clams, and sausages. The oysters were very fresh, and the seafood was well-seasoned and flavorful. The Cajun sauce was bold, rich, and savory. Garlic butter was a bit heavy but worked well with the potatoes. The lemon pepper was a lighter, zesty contrast- perfect for switching things up. The snow crab legs and Dungeness crab were on the pricier end and not particularly standout, so I would probably pass on these the next time I go, but if you're feeling a splurge, I'd recommend going for the fresh Dungeness over the frozen option if it's available (it's commonly sold out). Let me be very clear the only reason this isn't a 1-star review is because of our server Katie. She was genuinely kind, attentive, and did her job exceptionally well. Everything else specifically the management was unacceptable. I am a regular loyal customer, and this is the first time I've had an experience like this. I ordered extra juice and was given a cup that was less than half filled. I was told it was still the "correct" 8oz portion but if that's the case, why serve it in a cup that looks empty? I've been coming here regularly and my cup has always been filled up all the way so this explanation didn't make sense and felt misleading. What made it worse was how it was handled. The manager Steven showed a lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service. Instead of resolving the issue or even acknowledging the concern the response felt dismissive. At the end of the day, customers should feel heard and respected. The saying "the customer is always right" exists for a reason. it's about trust, service, and making things right when something doesn't feel right to the person paying. Steven definitely needs to be retrained. If the standard has changed, then be transparent use appropriately sized cups so customers aren't left feeling shorted. It's not just about the amount, it's about honesty and presentation. As someone with management experience, I know this is not how you handle loyal customers. Owners should be aware management like this directly impacts customer trust and retention. One poor leader can undo the hard work of an entire team, including great servers like Katie. I will return because of the service staff, but if this is how management continues to operate, it will drive regular customers away. This needs to be addressed. read more

The wait was atrocious for sure but the food is worth the wait. It was a 3 hour wait for a party of 12, so you need to make sure someone in your party can come in and put their name on the waitlist. The Yelp waitlist tracker is really helpful, so you can gauge when to come back. The customer service was amazing and we were always getting checked if we needed more sauce or water refills. The food was delicious and very filling because of the potatoes and sausages. I really enjoyed the Cajun seasoning and the sauce that the shrimp was presented in. So disappointed with the quality lately. My family and I are loyal to Boiling Crab and probably get it once a month. We usually bring it back home because the wait times are extremely long everyday. I ordered on Thursday and got 3 pounds of shrimp and a side order of cajun fries. When we got home, we immediately dug in. Unfortunately, the shrimp were mushy and stuck to the shell. This didn't go for all of the shrimp, maybe just a pound of it. Unfortunately, several items were not available the day I went. I ordered a pound of mussels and a pound of snow crab. I asked for lemon pepper and non spicy but they came in separate bags. The snow crab bag came with better sauce. The server was confused and switched the mild and non spicy snow crab orders. Luckily, I read the mild sticker on the bag and swapped the bag with my friend who got my non spicy bag. The staff provided us with plastic bibs, ground pepper, and lots of lime halves. Not the best experience with the host, JC, at this Boiling Crab location. Yelp only allowed reservations for up to 6 people, and when I checked in and let the host know we actually had a party of 8, she immediately said they couldn't accommodate us. After waiting almost 3 hours, it was frustrating to hear they couldn't simply accommodate 2 additional kids because they were "too busy." If this is such a problem, the restaurant should either adjust the maximum party size on Yelp or clearly note their policy beforehand. After going back and forth with the host, she finally agreed to squeeze us into a booth. It was disappointing to be treated this way, especially after we drove 2 hours just to eat here. Her solution was basically for us to come back another day when they're less busy. Very rude and dismissive customer service overall. It felt like they didn't care about their guests because the restaurant was already busy. To make things worse, the food at this location was not great either. The Garden Grove location is much better the food is always excellent, and the hosts there have been extremely accommodating and friendly in similar situations. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Once we sat our server came immediately and we ordered our drinks and our food. We got king crab let's ( oh yeah we splurged ) and 1lb of shrimp the whole shabang mild for both. Food came out within 15 minutes and it was delicious. I also loved all the sports game on the tv's. This place is lowkey a go-to spot for broke college kids! My friends and I (big group) were in town renting an Airbnb and wanted to save on dinner. We split 6 lbs of shrimp and two large fries for takeout--came out to just $9-10 per person, and we were stuffed. We steamed our own rice at home and it was the perfect cuz we didn't wanna pay for the rice. We also boiled eggs so we could save money there too. Service was quick and friendly! Our food was ready in about 30 minutes, and they made sure everything was packed up right. The shrimp was delicious as always. The shabang never disappoints. I think I'll always be a fan of The Boiling Crab because truly nothing compares to their whole sha-bang seasoning/sauce! I swear I dream about it. I've been a long term customer of Boiling Crab for many years, and I really appreciate that this location exists! It is conveniently located off the 10 freeway and has plenty of parking because it is in the Target plaza. If you are planning on visiting, I would recommend Yelp waitlisting at least an hour or two prior to your planned visit as they have long wait times during the weekends. As for the food- I don't think you could go wrong with anything on their menu. On my most recent visit, I got a half a pound of shrimp (whole sha-bang and medium spice level) with a sausage link and corn. I split cajun fries and fried calamari with my friends, and I also got their lime margarita. Although I would have preferred the fried calamari to be a little crispier, everything was delicious and flavorful!
