I stopped in Sulphur on my way to Austin to buy a new bulb for my headlight. It was supper time and my traveling companion had the good sense to ask the guys at the auto part store what was good to eat around there. They directed us to The Boiling Point, and I could just kiss them for it. The biggest problem we had here was deciding what to order! Had the crawfish and hamburger pistolettes. Super good and cheesy. Also ordered the 16oz ribeye. Ribeye was cooked right and seasoned well. Fries arrived about 20 minutes after the steak did. Just geaux!! Great place to stop for lunch on your way from Houston to NOLA. Very casual but very good. We will be stopping there on our way back too to bring home some goodness! Excellent selection of food from menu on two sides of one sheet of paper. Lots of crawfish being eaten at other tables, with a nice sized hand washing sink between the restroom doors so one does not mess up door handles trying to use the rest room (rest rooms have their own regular sinks). I have been wanting to try this place since I started coming here on business but never took the time to find them. The place looks like the kinda place I like to go too but this place was over priced in my opinion. I had the Johns catfish dinner and according to the menu I was suppose to get a fries or a baked potato, salad and roll, I also ordered boudin balls. The boudin came and I asked where my salad was and they told me it would come on my plate, so I thought ok its a small time place. If they did not put the salad on the plate it would have been empty. The plate had catfish w/ crawfish sauce, roll and salad. This meal came out to over 20 dollars. If you want to lose some weight in your rear go to this place because they will take it out of your wallet. Usually the cashier asks how your meal was but she had a headache, so I gave her a break and got out of there before I got mugged. read more

Wow. For us Californians this was one Awsome Meal. We followed the advice of fellow Yelpers. We started with seafood Pistoletts. Never have I had anything like this, so delicious this fried donut type food filled with a saucy sea food mixture. I ordered the Crawfish Platter that was a huge portion of Fried Crawfish, A2-Fay (creamed spicy crawfish over rice) salad and a cup pg Crawfish Gumbo. All good, Oh so Good. My husband had a small dinner of Pop Corn Shrimp Dinner. A huge portion more than he could eat as it came with slaw and hush puppies and fries. He started with a Pistollete and a sausage Gumbo. Nice and spicy. No complaints from us. We would eat here again. read more

Looks like an old convience syore turned into a cajun seafood dive. Wife had a seafood pistolette that was tasty but was lacking much seafood. Se also order a shrimp poboy. I had tge oyster poboy. Both were very good. The bread was great and the seafood was fried corectly. Strangely the poboys had no included sides. Not that I could have eaten any. Good place to stop. read more

Our friends brought us here to eat Crawfish being that we had never had it before. We sat in a big table and the waitress questioned why we sat there we informed her we had more people coming, which we did. When she came and took our order we wanted to sample some of the crawfish, not for free but just because we had never tasted it and she seemed a little put out for that simple request. Finally I opted not to order crawfish because it's a lot of work lol They were tasty but I was hungry, I ordered the grilled shrimp it was delicious. Hubby opted to work hard and made a pile of crawfish for himself. Some of our other friends ordered the shrimp pistollettes for the whole table, omg they were so GOOD! The bread was soft, slightly toasted and the sauce inside the pistollette was like spicy creamy cheesy, words can't describe how delicious this was, I can only imagine what the crawfish ones tasted like, they had sold out. I also tried the gumbo I wasn't a fan, it's probably not my thing, I like jambalaya better. Overall it was a good dining experience, the waitress ended up lightening up a bit and I left her a good tip and I made her smile. Dropped in to The Boiling Point last Friday, August 1 with our favorite couple to fulfill my craving for some pistolettes . I must say you cannot find a better pistolette than they serve there. I had a seafood pistolette for an appetizer and the crawfish platter for dinner. While the crawfish dinner was good the best thing on it was the crawfish pistolette. Not a fancy place by any means but good food and friendly wait staff. If you are in the area drop in and enjoy some very good Cajun seafood. read more

Terrible service..... witnessed a table of six send every meal back to the kitchen.... child's chicken nuggets were raw.... very unsettling to see all six meals go back because they were undercooked... managers response was "well I comped their dinner." The food was awful!! Shrimp and crab gumbo was brown water with mushy shrimp and no crab. My daughter's chicken nuggets were burnt right out of the freezer. My son's burger was the only halfway decent item and he wouldn't eat it. Fried crawfish had an odd, old grease taste to it. Aside from that the restaurant was dirty. There was a dead fly stuck to the ketchup bottle and the Tabasco looked curdled. We barely touched any of it and then to top it off it was almost $70 for that. read more

I ordered my food with Waitr so I can't say anything on service. Let me start by saying I hate giving bad reviews but I hate paying for bad food more. The food however was just ok. I ordered a shrimp poboy that was very light on shrimp, but taste was good. The shrimp and crab gumbo was just bland, not just for Louisiana but anywhere. The shrimp balls had a good taste inside but a strange dry biscuit taste on outside. The shining light was shrimp pistolettes! Wonderful taste and bread was light and fluffy. Two words: Crawfish Pistolettes! The best! Don't let the looks of the place on the outside fool you...there is great food to be found inside those doors. Try the crawfish boudin...super! We have been know to have lunch AND dinner there on the same day! And the waitstaff has always been pleasantly efficient...just don't expect someone hovering over you the whole time making small talk...those ladies are busy taking care of their customers. read more

WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER EATEN AT! Outside is rundown, but I do not judge a book by its cover so we decided to give them a try. Walking up to the front door 2 workers were outside and one reached over and turned the open sign off, I asked if they were closing and she said yeah after y'all, so we proceeded to go in, inside was dirty! Felt like I was at a old bingo hall. Sign said wait to be seated, the girl from outside came in behind us and went behind the counter, so we seated ourselves, the girl came bring us menus each a menu and asked what we wanted to drink, as she finished chewing whatever it was she was eating. We got our drinks and she took out order, we waited about 15mins and she brings out food. I ordered the crawfish étouffée and my husband got the oyster poboy and fries. Mine meal came with a salad which I had to ask what dressings they had and if I could get silverware, she brings me a paper bowl with some orange liquid ( not sure what that was) then I had to return the meal to the kitchen because I could not eat it! The rice was hard and clumped together as if it were 2 days old, and the crawfish and sauce were cold in the middle (evidence of it being heated in the microwave) so she said she would take it off the ticket and i told her thanks and to Just bring me a cheeseburger and fries. Hard to mess that up right? WRONG! She did not ask how I wanted it dressed. Which at this point I could care less, I was starving. My husband finished his food before mine even arrived, which took about 20 mins. ( we almost just walked out, Should have) but the burger came and it was cut in half, and the bun was bigger than the patty which was well done, and dressed with I am sure was the lettuce and tomatoes from the first meal that I could not eat. The fries were hot but soft, not cooked completely. So we decided to just eat and get the Hell out of there, she brings the bill which is just the short hand order ticket u give to the cook, with no prices, which the total was high almost $40 for a Po-boy, small burger and fries. The staff was very laid back so laid back they were Just sitting around, talking while tables around us were still dirty, one was even playing on the slot machines in the gambling area!
