I had high hopes for this place. I was very disappointed. The service was awful. They had open seating so we sat ourself all of the waitress were behind the bar and they greeted us as soon as we walked in. We ordered our drinks however I'm not sure what the wine was the waitress couldn't tell me and never returned with what it was. When she did return we ordered an app the charcuterie. I kid you not 30 mins later we received our HEB cubed cheeses and crackers. Needless to say we ate our charcuterie and went down the road for dinner. Thank you Miriam so much for all you did for us tonight. You accommodated our large wedding party on a very short notice. The service, the music, the food was ALL totally AWESOME. You made us feel at home and made time to tend to all our needs. You DID NOT charge us a room fee, you made sure that the tab amount stayed within our budget which that in itself is greatly appreciated. Letting us bring in our own liquor with a minimal setup of just $10 per person for the whole night was a pleasant surprise. The wedding party gave many compliments and will return. The Boldthouse occupies a spot that has long been cursed. It was a daycare, a seafood restaurant, a headshop, a greek place, and now it is a restaurant and craft beer/wine place. I might be missing a place or two in there because the turnover is so high. Anyway, we decided to drop in and support our local business for dinner and drinks on a wednesday night. We walked in and it was empty at 6pm, which was a little weird. Very sleepy. We passed a waitress, but she didn't tell us welcome, or where to sit, or where to go. The building is kind of weird if you haven't been there before. So we wandered to the bar and sat there. Wednesday is ladies night, which means $2 sangria (red or white) and $2 oysters. Certain Beers were $3 during happy hour and some wines were on special too. We ordered some white sangria, which was actually pretty good. My husband said he didn't want to order food after looking at the menu, which i thought was weird, but I wish I would have listened to him instead of convincing him to. We ordered from the 'small plates' menu. They weren't kidding. The servings are small for 1 person - not small for sharing. I got 1 crab cake that was probably 3 oz with a few leaves of spring mix for $12. He got a 1.5" medallion of filet mignon with 2-3 tbsp of mashed potatoes for $12. We spent $25 on food and left starving. So i'd say come to this place because they have great specials on craft and local beer and wine. they have no liquor. Great local spot. I really love the food here and usually the staff has great wine recommendations. Perfect date night. Have been several times. Cesar, the chef is super cool and will explain the inspiration to the dish So far I have had the beef Wellington, mushroom Risotto, The special this evening was a perfectly cooked Chicken Fried chicken with a unique crust and sausage gravy(great). My girlie had the risotto Salmon special and it was yummy. Definitely one of my favorites in the clear Lake area and I would definitely give this a 4.5 and I never give out 5's. My first time here. I was not impressed with the selection of food. Yes, they have not been there that long, so I will give them another try ( later down the road) but it was a nice atmosphere. I think they should add more selection of food. It looked like everyone in the place ordered the same thing. Offer more veggies. The drinks were good and the waitress and service was great. The atmosphere is awesome! So happy with what they ended up doing with this place! It's super cute! Food is good but portions are really small so be prepared to order 2 or 3 things if it's for dinner. The turtle cheesecake OMG amazing! Ask about any specials because they do change. Like the $2 sangrias are only during happy hour.... but we weren't told that. Definitely want to try brunch here sometime ! Hope they expand their menu and get some bigger portions. I offered one star because they don't offer a half star. I pass by this place quite often but keep on going due to lack of vehicles in the lot. This very location has turned over so many times I suspect it was built on a Native American burial site. But the one time I do stop in and I was one of 4 customers, kinda strange for 6:30 PM. The beer selection was a total mystery when so many great brews exist in the Western states. My only other choice would have been wine as they don't have a liquor licence. I wish them luck but I was told this is what the owners want, personally I have been to more stimulating funerals...good luck. BTW...1000 Taps? Where? Service was not good. Walked in about 30 minutes from closing and literally just wanted a simple caprese salad and glass of wine but was basically told to leave they were about to close. He didn't even walk over to say it and gave us a dirty look when we sat down. As a person who has had several family members own restaurants this one is definitely a no go. We try to get out in our area to check out and support local businesses, especially if there is a connection. This place is owned by a friend of a friend. I have driven by here numerous times but this was our first stop in. We were impressed with the decent selection of local craft brews, and the meal was great. We were there for Steak Night, although we did not all get steak. The portions were just the right size, with no one going home stuffed but all satiated. The downsides of this place are the hard surfaces inside the restaurant/bar that reflect sound strongly enough that even with only a few groups in there it got hard to hear without raising your voice considerably and what appears to be not a whole lot of parking. Probably adequate for an average night at the bar but could be cozy parking if they were really busy. Which is unfortunate because with the menu and beer selection, this place could catch on. Servers and chef were very nice; chef came by all the tables that were eating to personally check on people. We will likely go back again so I can say confidently that you should check it out, too. read more

I attended my company Christmas party here last weekend and it started off good the waitstaff was nice and helpful but it went down hill when it was time to order food. EVERYONE of my coworkers orders were incorrect, some plates had items not described on the menu like bacon ( my coworker doesn't eat pork and it wasn't on the menu that it contained pork) , some got orders they didn't even ask for, if they asked for a medium well steak it came RAW, if they wanted chips they got fries and to top it off every order came in 2 at a time with a good 15-20min between each order so with 13 guest that was a lot of time waiting... WORST part was I order a SALAD at 7:30pm and by 10:00pm I still DID NOT receive it, like come on it's a SALAD!! I told them to cancel my order because that was unacceptable. Everyone was nice, the food was amazing (still dreaming of that asparagus) and the bartenders were super helpful with helping me explore my wine choices. We had a extremely long wait time for food, and service was just mediocre. The Wellington wasn't that great poor cut of meat and the puffed pastry on top was tough. My wife and I were seriously underwhelmed. The Wellington was deconstructed and the cut of beef was questionable. The risotto was super dry. We both feel we could have done much better at home cooking the entire meal. The beer on tap was nice, but the bulk of our $75 lunch tab went towards mediocre food. Staff was okay. Tapas bar next to the Marriott. I had the bruschetta and it was pretty good. They have a nice outdoor seating spot and a good sized bar inside with maybe 1000 taps. Lots of local beers at a decent price. Worth the walk if you're staying at the Marriott. read more
