What a great disappointment. I wouldn't even call this bar food. I would call this cheap food from the frozen section of the grocery store. The wings were so charred that's all the flavor they had / same with the burger. I mean who can't grill up a burger in Austin. The toasted raviolis were not what you would get if you go to the Midwest/St. Louis. These were cheese filled and the classic from STL is beef filled. The fries were ok. The brat was ok too. We've been loyal customers at Bon Aire for over 6 years, spending thousands of dollars here and bringing countless friends along. Sadly, after today's experience, we won't be recommending this place any longer. We arrived 45 minutes before the Steelers game. While we couldn't reserve a table ahead of time (understandable), two of our friends managed to grab a small table near the restrooms with only three stools. When one of them tried to borrow a stool from an empty table, the female owner rudely told her there could only be three, claiming "fire code" was the reason. That made no sense--especially since no headcount was being tracked, and later we saw other tables with four chairs and guests freely moving chairs around. The execution of her response--rude tone, passive aggression--was the real issue. As my friends privately discussed the odd interaction, the male owner walked by and snapped, "If we're gonna have a problem here y'all can leave." He then pointed to the female owner to "handle it," and she came over only to escalate the situation further. Our friends ended up leaving, closing out their tab, while my husband and I stayed to finish our drinks. It was unprofessional and unnecessary. On top of that, the female owner had earlier confronted my friend over bringing in a sealed water bottle--fair policy, but again delivered rudely while standing over her. It felt personal and targeted. To make matters worse, on Steelers game day, they had tables labeled "Cowboys" and told customers they might have to move if Cowboys fans arrived. That is incredibly poor management for a Steelers bar. What's most disappointing is how longtime, loyal patrons were treated. Instead of hospitality, we experienced hostility. We ended up leaving for Pluckers next door, where our group of 12 was welcomed, and our bill alone was over $1,000. A sad day when the place that used to feel like home for Steelers games now feels unwelcoming under the new owners. I hope management takes this feedback seriously instead of pushing more regulars away. read more

Burger under 5$ thick juicy big boys. I didn't realize how big it was so I had ordered an extra patty. Oops! They have a condiment bar for the food you order at the counter. You also order your drinks at the bar, there's no server, but there is free popcorn near the entrance so help yourself. Everyone I encountered there was very nice, even the bar patrons. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're just looking for a place to watch the game and throw back a few with friends and munch then this place ain't so bad. I went in and took in a friend and we are currently houseless. Okay. So I get it, but I got nothing but retreatment from the bartender, we went in there and bought 2 hamburgers. I can't say the hamburgers were bad. They were good for $5, so for $10.80, we got 2 cheeseburgers, but I decided to sit in there and finish my burger and I got nothing but harassment from the bartender till she called the manager over and he told me we had to leave And I get it, I got a little cart with me. My friends got some bags with him so it doesn't look good. I get it, but I just want y'all to know that these people are like that, and I don't know I didn't cause any problems, but I sure got treated like I was trash and I just came in there to buy a burger. This place was awesome. I walked there from the Nissan dealership while my car was being worked on- best find ever! The food was delicious and insanity cheap. The bartenders and cool were polite and made sure I had what I needed. There is also free popcorn! They have cardinals stuff up and plenty of TVs for sports. I'll be back for sure! Not great but not terrible. My husband got the veggie skewers and meat skewers and didn't like either. Said they were insanely salty. I can't recall if we had fries, so if we did, they were not memorable (although not terrible either). Very nice people. Cash only. I've been on a burger hunt around Austin, and saw a social media post mention "The Bone Aire". I've actually passed by this place many many times, and mannnn have I been missing out. Don't judge a book by it's cover, yes this is in the end a sports bar, but comes with the charm and simplicity that you won't find often in the city. Atmosphere: As stated above it is overall a sports bar, but it's very well spaced out and definitely a place where locals frequent. Think a place where people come by after a hard days work or a place where you'd hear "the usual" often. Food: Here is the real surprise. The food is great and ultra cheap. $4 Burger?! (As of this writing). When my party and I heard about this, we were like...hmm worth a try. So glad we did. Yes these aren't luxury burgers by any means, but think a family/friend's cookout and the dad is cooking up some mean patties, complete with new balance shoes of course. With that said these burgers are cooked to perfection tasting a great char grilled burger with great crisp. Prices were so good that my friend ended up ordering both the ravioli and fries. I think in total he spent something close to $13. Even though the food is cheap, we left very satisfied and full. Sometimes all you need is a good beer, burgers and fries, simple as that. Service: Great simple service, you can either sit at the bar or order food from the counter top. Friendly service while I was there, no complaints. This was truly a diamond in the rough. Went with some friends last night to watch the austin fc away game vs lafc. Solid watch party atmosphere with sound on which was nice. I had a spicy marg that was ok, my friends wife got the old fashioned which could probably be skipped next time. Beer is likely the way to go. Drink prices were good though. Food prices are quite low. We had one of each of the kabobs and wings and all were great. Also had the toasted ravioli and would like to try the brat next time. read more

I am disappointed they are discontuing their Tuesday night trivia. It drew large crowds and created a community atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times now. We love it! The food is tasty, good quality, and cheap. I don't eat meat, so I'm glad there's a few options for me. My boyfriend is glad the burger costs $4 (every day of the week). We've been on different nights of the week and can always find a good table. The staff help create a calm, friendly, and fun environment to make you feel very welcomed. They have popcorn for free and plenty of drink options for everyone. Definitely worth a try! We came in for the burger, as I had heard great things. You order at the back counter and pick up there as well. You need to pay separately at the food counter and the bar, so know ahead you will have 2 tabs. But the food was decent. A regular burger. Nothing special. Very affordable. You'll pay extra to add bacon, and cheese, basically anything. But even then it's still affordable. The burger is chargrilled, not my favorite, but was okay overall. They have a condiment bar in the back so you can pick and add the toppings you like. Overall 4 stars for speed and price, and friendly staff, and decent on tap selections at the bar. But probably won't become my "go to" burger spot. We went on a Monday and as soon as the game started they cranked it unnecessarily loud for the small crowd that was there. read more

I've attended this Steelers sports bar for a few years and the experience was always good. I heard the ownership and management changed within the past year and that certainly explains my recent terrible experience. I attended the Steelers vs Bengals game on October 16. Immediately at the end of the game which was a close loss by the Steelers, a customer sitting at the bar began to heckle and demean the Steelers fans and took joy in this disrespectful behavior. As I was leaving, I stopped to confront this awful person and told him to "stop it." We exchanged a few words and I kept walking on my way out. This evening I returned for the Steelers vs Packers game. As I was in the midst of ordering my food at the counter, I was rudely interrupted and pulled out of the line by a female employee thirsting for power. She began to scold me for confronting the customer on October 16 and said that was not permitted. I immediately walked away and out the door with no regrets. It's unfortunate that management is more concerned about the Steelers fan who confronts a rude, disrespectful customer than it is the "trouble maker." If you stay silent and do not call out this type of behavior by a customer, then the silence is viewed as approval and the behavior will likely continue. I've read a couple other negative reviews about the new management so not surprised. I'll never return here again. read more

Great bar for watching sports. We go almost every Sunday to watch the Steelers games. This is where the Steelers fan club of Austin meets up. Good bar service. Nice selection of beers and alcohol. My husband likes their frozen margaritas. New owners seem very nice. But...we were really hoping they would upgrade the menu. Wings are average at best. No sauces. It would be do easy to have nachos with cheese. They have jalapeño's on the condiment bar. Would like a good all beef hotdog all the time. Maybe a made ahead tossed salad? There's a sign outside that says "Voted best burger in Austin! $3.99". There's absolutely a 0% chance that a burger that cost $3.99 is the best in Austin, but I felt compelled to try it. As I assumed, this is no doubt nowhere near the best burger in town. Surprising result, I know. However, for less than $5 you get a 1/2 pound burger that isn't bad at all. It was cooked well done unfortunately, but was still decent. Add some tasty fries on to that for another $3 bucks, and you have a perfectly acceptable lunch or dinner for $8 freaking dollars. That's a damn good deal! Granted, it's not going to win any awards (except for the dubious one advertised outside apparently), but it's a decent food at a ridiculously low price. So having said all that, this probably should be a 3 star review, but this place also has a damn solid draught beer selection. It's filled with delicious offerings from some great local breweries, as well as a few more obscure ones. They also have the usual Light options of course, because it's a sports bar. Anyway... if you're looking to have a delicious cold beer and a cheap burger, this place will definitely do the trick. read more
