It was actually pretty cool to be able to go bowling during Covid here in Big Bear!! It's limited to 1 hour per lane and their chicken tenders weren't too shabby!! Haha def enjoyed those n the fries. read more

We came here on Friday night after an afternoon drive up to Big Bear. Looking for something fun to do, I turned to my Yelp* app, and found The Bowling Barn! Now, I like bowling..but I enjoy Cosmic Bowling even more! It's just fun to do, and as an adult, with a few drinks, it's just funny half the time! It's a little outdated, but no worries because it's pretty clean! It's a huge red barn, which I thought was really cute, I mean..you don't often see a bowling alley in a barn? Right? Anywho, it was around $20 for one game plus shoes for two adults at around 9:30pm on a Friday. It wasn't too crowded but there are 18 lanes, and about 5 were occupied by about 10-15 teens. They weren't obnoxious or anything, so we were still able to enjoy the night! There is a clever little bar attached to the bowling alley called Alley Oops, which has a few halfway decent beers, a few cocktails and some food. We had walked to the alley as we had already enjoyed a few cocktails with dinner, so I can't say much for the food or the bar. Maybe next time? I would come back to The Bowling Barn, it was a fun, cute little place that has a chill, funky vibe to it! Really fun, I mean, there's not much to do out here at night, but this is definitely a quirky date night spot I think (^_^) we will be back. read more

Not very much to do on a cold blistery day in Bear, but stay indoors. Either stay in a watch movies all day or BOWL!!! Decided to do something a little different during this stay. As you walk in, the barn is dark and small. Lots of people bowling - various ages. There was a wait list, and was quoted an hour. We decided to wait, and we ended up waiting only half an hour. For 4 of us, we paid around $60 for 3 games each. We had a deal thru the timeshare we stayed at. We spent a good couple hours before heading out in the cold. I liked the cosmic bowling and they played various songs/videos on the overhead projector. Cool place to hang if you have absolutely nothing else to do in Bear. read more

food and drinks are ok. the bartender was really nice and we made pleasant conversation with him. that was the highlight of the experience. The customer service for the actual bowling part was some of the worst i've seen. I know big bear isn't known for its world class customer service, because lets be real, in most places it isn't great, but this was awful. The host was pretty rude, ignoring us as we walked up to the counter, nervously, i was trying to ask how long the wait was for a party of five bowlers (we are a group of 7, it's important to the story,) as i was trying to form a sentence he's making faces almost looking disgusted at me and trying to rush me. he noticed that there is more than five of us, and before even telling me the pricing or wait was immediately like the rest of your party cannot be with you only the bowlers can sit at the bench. It's a pretty ridiculous policy, considering how large their benches are, and my group was able to sit comfortably. one of the non-bowlers decided to purchase some fries for her self and a soda for me, and one of the men who was there at the time of the transaction, stopped her from coming back down to where we were sitting telling her she was not allowed down there. It's pretty ridiculous to be told that when you see other groups having people who are not bowling also sitting with them. If this is a policy you have it should be enforced. we felt like we were being discriminated against from the moment we walked in as we were a group of minorities in a predominantly white neighborhood, it just kind of sucks when you were expecting to have a ton of fun. 0/10 stars and not a good way to end our trip. read more

I grew up in Big Bear and this was a hang out for sure. We would have high school events here and it was popular for "dates". I recently returned (XX Years Later) with my family and my kids had a blast. It was a rainy, stormy day and this was the perfect activity. They have bumpers, great music, arcade games, and all the fried and snacky food to keep you going. And of course - beer! Must visit in Big Bear if looking for something to do! read more

This is a review for Ally Oops inside the Bowling Barn. About four years ago we happened upon a friendly group of locals and joined in a really fun evening of line-dancing. Since then....oops....all downhill. Just this past weekend we walked in to find a rather intoxicated (and not in a fun way) group singing some karaoke....often reminding one another that there were children around and to watch their mouths. My friend and I ordered a couple of drinks, hoping for some positive energy, stiff drinks and an entertaining evening of karaoke. Well...not quite...my margarita started off with a moldy lime wedged to the outside of the glass. The margarita tasted like the lime juice probably came from the same lime. My friend had similar feelings about her Blue Hawaii. The energy in the crowd matched these drinks. read more

I was excited to bring my girlfriend to have fun and bowl but instead dealt with a racist interaction. White guy with the ponytail was rude and racist. He will not acknowledge you unless your white, i was observing the customers he actually greeted and welcomed nicely and just so happens it was only towards the white people. Made my experience disappointing, if you look at other reviews they will say the same thing. Management needs to see these reviews and properly address these issues with him. read more

I'm currently vacationing with my family in Big Bear And we are having a blast we where looking around and found The Bowling Barn we went inside there was a arcade , glow and the dark lanes super cool . My aunt starts a live FB feed when a women comes up to her and tell her to stop filming her kids . Told my parents siblings to be carful what and who they film . My dad then records a video and those a 360 of the place , same female comes up tells him to stop filming her kids otherwise she'll call the cops . Her husband threatens to take my fathers phone and break it . Second male comes and starts telling me to get tf before things go bad for me Told him he couldn't make me leave while arguing with the 2 males and females a third males comes from behind , grabs my arm and tells me to get tf out and starts pulling my arm . More things are w said eventually the manger comes bold guy with glasses after 5mins of us arguing cursing and so on He tells me to shut up and listen to him and tells the other group he'll handle this . He tells me once I walk into this establishment I agreed to follow house rules which one of them is no filming ( no where do they have said house rules posted nor signs of no photography) He tells me I'm violating their American rights by fiLming them . And that I was violating their 3rd and 4th amendment specifically . And I told him ok you don't have have any signs of no filming and regardless he has no right putting hands on me . This guy then tells me to shut up again and tells me they have every right to defend themselves against me it's their American right to do so ,so he was totally ok laying hands on me This is ridiculous I'm a American as well and just because my skin color is brown and not white don't mean they have priority over mine , or mine are invalid .I was told to leave the property with my family before they called the sheriff because now I was trespassing I was refused a refund . And the other group was allowed to stay even thank him when they kick us out was literally inside for less than 20mins so I can't review anything other than the Manger is racist and if you guys don't want ppl filming put up signs, thanks for the experience read more

Ahh, the Bowling barn. From the outside I was expecting a lot. On the inside, there are only about 17 lanes, which seemed short for some reason. The interior was outdated quite a bit, and was a bit dingy. I think I'm spoiled by Chapparal Lanes in San Dimas The staff was nice, and they had pool tables in the bar area, always a plus. Overall, this place isnt worth a trip. Only for high-level boredom only read more

In the dictionary, next to the word Skanky, you might guess there's a picture of Kim Kardashian. You'd be wrong. Turns out it's this place, where everything is gross, from the food to the carpets to the decor to the vibe the the balls themselves, inside the finger holes of one of which, my fingers landed in slime that felt distinctly like snot. This is where EVERYONE with kids winds up in Big Bear in the winter when there is no snow. Which, with global warming, probably means this place is only going to get busier. One thing's for certain, no matter how much money this place ever makes, they won't be investing it in the bowling. Or cleaning products. read more

I am not one to give bad reviews but we just experienced terrible customer service. We waited 2hrs for our name to be called, we checked in 15mins prior to our scheduled time and we're told we were second in line so we sat watching the bowlers. We checked 10mins later since we didn't hear our name just to be told we lost our place. The person working at the counter didn't' apologize, didn't' find a solution, he just said they can put us back on the list and wait another 2hrs. We understand this is a busy season for them and things happen but customer service is important and this place did not care. It looks like a fun place, I would just say to wait next to the counter if you don't want them to skip over you. what made it terrible is that it's my birthday and we couldn't celebrate there. read more

-5 stars. I do not recommend this bowling alley whatsoever. No matter how bored you get in big bear I wouldn't give this establishment the time of day. The bathrooms were not even close to well kept, and the employees were extremely rude. The old lady with the red hair along with her 13 year old granddaughter had singled out our party for the one person who wasn't wearing their bowling shoes, which mind you was our 9 year old niece. After being yelled at from across the bowling alley they threatened to shut our lane down with no refund. After this we had realized that there were several other people not wearing their bowling shoes which discouraged us from ever coming here again. Also they were racist! read more

Meagan was amazing! We went on a Saturday night and only had to wait 25 minutes for our lane. There were no problems with our lane or game the entire time and her customer service was amazing. She checked up on us a couple of times to see how we were doing and I thought that was great! We ended up going the next day and had another amazing experience. They are perfect for big groups and we're able to give us two lanes next to each other even on a weekend. This bowling alley is wonderful even in this horrible pandemic. Although they were understaffed they went above and beyond to make our experience with them memorable and would definitely recommend coming here! read more

Me and my club went up to the bowling barn for our clubs anniversary and the original location we had selected was giving us crap and I had recommended a place we had passed on the way which was the Bowling Barn. I'm glad we did go here because it was an old school feel and it brought back arcade memories and the staff was amazing to accommodate us even though it was a last minute thing they didn't mind at all and they had plenty of parking space for our cars! Food was great and pricing was very reasonable! Thank you guys once again!!! read more

Don't come here if you're not white. Guy at the front desk was racist to my Mexican friend group for no reason and polite to other groups.

The employees here are incredibly rude. I cannot stress this enough. We called beforehand to ask about glow bowling and we were hung up on, once we got here the lady checking us out rushed us and wouldn't let us ask any questions. When we asked for bumpers, the lady seemed very bothered and told us to be careful and not damage them. Not inviting environment at all and I wouldn't ever come back. read more

Was in big bear for the week for summer vacation, took my family here since it's the only thing to do after 8pm. first off, the pricing is kind of expensive for bowling (i'm used to $3 shoes and like $2 games). for 5 adults, 2 teens, and 2 toddlers (age 2 &3) we were charged $90 for 1 game and not given a receipt! The guy also tried arguing that the kids had to be at least 3 to bowl even though their sign had said "kids 3 & under bowl free"! secondly, my cousins who were both teens had never bowled in their life so we asked if we could add bumpers to their game. The man then declined saying its only for 3 year olds and younger. BOWLING IS NOT FUN WHEN YOU KEEP THROWING GUTTER BALLS! i found it completely ridiculous we weren't able to and my cousins were having the worst time. Like we already paid for the game and the bowlers, what do bumpers have to do with anything? it should be an option for any bowler like at other bowling places. lastly the place was cute and small, and had nice music playing but it wasn't anything special as i feel like it could've been. overall disappointed in my experience there. read more
