Wow, they do have dessert! We met some friends who we hadn't seen in a while so the hour wait was no big deal as we went to the bar and caught up. Once seated, we ordered drinks and then looked at the menu. The barbecue dinner with smoked wings was a good choice. The "steak toss" is something to look at closely as 2 of our party assumed it came with pasta when it says "tossed like pasta". Apparently it's a low carb dish but that wasn't obvious. They did bring a small dish of pasta to mix in with this and charged us a $3 upcharge. It would have been nice to know that 25 cents worth of pasta would cost each guest 3 bucks. No water was ever offered. We were never asked if we wanted dessert. Apparently they do serve it. It appeared as if they wanted to leave. So, the food was really good but the service will lead us elsewhere in the future. We dont often get dessert but we did thst night....at another place. read more

TBH, this place is probably better for happy hour than dinner. But my dinner was extremely disappointing, hence the 2 stars. I got the cheeseburger and fries, and to me, if you can't make a burger well, you just don't know how to cook! They messed up the best part of burger: the bun! I have had things on the menu from here that I LOVE (Cajun Chicken Philly, bread pudding) and then I have had things from here that are sub par/mediocre (Steak Sandwich, garlic mashed potatoes). I think the bar food is a safe bet that it will be delicious and when you get on the fancier side, you could hit some bumps in the road. I still love this place but I've been disappointed lately...I will never order a chicken wrap there again.. I was so disappointed with the amount of chicken there was for the price. I'm also SO disappointed they changed their wings... they used to have amazing buffalo wings. Now they are just all smoked. I saw that this place has a lot of reviews and 4 out of 5 star average so we decided to try it out. The restaurant is divided up into three separate dining areas plus an outdoor seating area. It was full with a wait on Friday night at 5:30. This was a good sign. I took a look at the menu and thought the prices were a little higher than most places I've been for the same kind of American fare. I ordered a Cuban sandwich with Cajun fries. My wife ordered nachos with chicken. We were served our food and the nachos didn't have chicken, so back to the kitchen it went. My Cuban sammie had pretty good flavor, and I especially liked the fried ham, but the roasted pork was very dry. The nachos arrived with the chicken and my wife commented that the nachos were not that flavorful. I tried them and would agree. So maybe we didn't get the most popular items on the menu IDK, but we thought it was just okay. I really wanted to like it a lot, but it just didn't hit the spot. Obviously lots of people like their food since it was packed. So I'd give it another try sometime. read more

Last Friday a large group and myself went to the Brass Rail for a special event. We made reservations in advance and were told rudely that we would have to wait until 75% of our party arrived to be seated. Even after our full group arrived and our reservation time came and went it was still a good while until we were seated. Even more so they couldn't have been bothered to put two tables together so our party had separate tables nowhere near one another. All of this could have been overlooked if the food and service was excellent. Unfortunately, they grossly missed the mark. The place is evidently known for steaks. So I went to the New York Strip, loaded mashed potatoes and Cesar salad. Honestly, it was the worst steak I've ever had dining out. I literally could have ordered a "steak" sub from Subway to have higher quality meat. Now a New York Strip isn't a Filet, but this was terrible. On top of it it wasn't cooked properly with one half of the steak medium well and the other medium rare. The rest of our party wasn't too impressed either as they suffered numerous order mix ups and a lack of refills. Honestly, I feel for the individual who's special event this was and I know that I'll never come back here for personal or corporate dinners. read more

Don't take anyone special here! Service was horrible! We called ahead but that did n't make a difference. Once seated we ordered drinks, 45 minutes later the server returned to tell us that she was sorry about the delay in drinks but there were no drinks. We ordered. The waiter came back and said there were only two prime rib specials. The minutes later they returned to say there was only one. Five minutes later they came back to say that it was Definitely medium instead of medium rare. The filet we ordered medium was raw. All of the side orders were mixed up or not even brought. Nothing special about this place at all! The only reason for 2 stars is that the food was finally OK. read more

The food was absolutely delicious and the pear martini was excellent! We had the fried mozzarella as an appetizer and I had the crab cakes as an entree. (Highly recommend!) As expected on a Friday evening, there was about a 45 minute wait. It was unexpectedly loud; very "sports-bar" atmosphere with several TVs around with games on, and a large and crowded bar in the center of the restaurant. I will say that the service was slow, and there were a few awkward lengths of time we sat with dirty (empty) plates, no plates for appetizers, and waiting for the check. Hubs and I were looking for a new Sunday lunch spot to add to our rotation. We were just driving around and found The Brass Rail via Yelp. Whenever we find a place via Yelp, we write a review. Hubs got the Smoked Wings and he was impressed, which is not easy to do. Moist and tasty, he wrapped up lunch by grilling the server on how they're prepared. He wants a few tips for when he smokes wings at home, I am sure. I was trying to be good, too, so I got the Turkey Burger which was excellent. Seasoned and grilled nicely. We both succumbed to temptation and ordered the onion strings as sides. I had them take mine away 1/2 way thru the very large portion I got because I'd have cleaned my plate. Really tasty, crispy, and loved the dipping sauce. We were seated promptly; the restaurant seems to be managed well which is always a thing for hubs seeing as how he was in the business for 25+ years. We will be back! read more

Pretty nice and unique restaurant. The substitution for zucchini noodles is a delightful touch. But dont get a full order unless you want leftovers. The alfredo sauce was slightly runny, possibly due to the vegetable noodles, but the piece of garlic toast soaked up the remainder without issue. The crab dip appetizer was tasty, and the house salad was so good I would order it as an entree sometime. read more

Completely and utterly mind blown by the amount of disrespect this restaurant has. Me and my family, along with my friends will never again attend this restaurant. After seeing the posts on Facebook, and seeing it first hand. Posting about someone's child, and the mess left behind is rude! Clearly the person who made the post doesn't understand what it is like to have children, and certainly doesn't understand that my service...is what allows them to have a paycheck. I took my mom out to eat for her birthday here and she ordered the filet mignon and loved it. The next time she went she ordered a rare filet mignon (as she had last time). She got her food and it was well done and tasted disgusting (I tried it), the made her a new one and it came out cold. The they cooked it even longer. They proceeded to say that their meat is aged so they couldn't make it rare, even though it was perfect last time. She paid full price for her meal. Not impressed. I ordered the mushroom alfredo and it had a myriad of mushrooms in it and I never finished. Quite overpriced. read more

Typically this is one of our families favorite restaurants as we live nearby. Unfortunately we had a very negative experience that I must share. My in laws and brother in law were in town from Tennessee. We had a lovely Christmas and wanted to celebrate one last time before they headed home. We arrived at roughly 5:30 expecting no wait as we called about 10 minutes prior to arrival. Much to our surprise we were told that there was a 30-45 minutes wait. The hostess told us that 5-6 parties of 8 had arrived in the past 10-15 minutes. I find that hard to believe but stranger things have happened. So we decided to patiently wait as the fun, service, and atmosphere are worth it. This is when things went down hill. My mother in law had polio prior to the vaccine and had walked with a limp her entire life. She is a beautiful woman whose positive spirit would never let something get her down. She found a place to sit as standing is hard when you basically have no muscles in one leg. Much to our surprise again my mother in law was not sitting in the proper area and the hostess TOLD her that she must move which we would have kindly done. Unfortunately the tone of sheer disrespect and total lack of compassion and understanding had us leave instead of waiting further. I find this experience sickening and one that I hope to never experience again. I share this just to let other seniors and people with a disability know of the total disrespect and lack of common courtesy shown by he hostess, the first person, to great you upon arrival at the Brass Rail. This place has really great salads. If I want a good salad then this is my go to place. The waiters are usually really nice and helpful. They know me and my boyfriend by name here because of how often we either dine in or order out! I usually get the Monterey chicken salad with mixed greens and I really enjoy that. Nick usually gets salmon, steak or a burger. All great choices! I have never had anything here I did not like. Other than the nachos to go, do not order that! The bar area is really cool, could use a little more booth seating. They have a back room but it's like kinda closed off, I don't like sitting all the way in the back like that. read more

I've been in St Louis for 11 mos and have struggled to find a great restaurant west of the river. This place fills the bill! Incredible food and Serena was an excellent server. Finally found a place I can return to!! The table had: Ahi Tuna Appetizer - Excellent Bruschetta - Excellent (ask for extra toasted) Surf and Turf - Excellent Prime Sirloin - Very Good (normally a filet girl) Fish and Chips - Beyond Excellent Steak Toss - very Good Pumpkin Bread Pudding - Seasonal, Very Good Chocolate 8-ways - Good Woodbridge Cabernet for $5 is very reasonable Sculpin IPA is the IPA rotation - brings a smile to your face. Overall the value is excellent. Next time I will try the filet. Very excited to find a restaurant that reaches above mediocre. read more

March 9, 2019. Went here for my husband's birthday dinner. I called the day before to reserve a table but we were only seven people so they only do that for parties of 15 or more. We get there Saturday around 6:40pm and they told me there was an hour and a half wait. I was so mad I told my husband we should leave. He liked the way the bar area looked so he said no let's just stay and I'm glad we did we waited no more than 30 minutes. We had our two year old daughter with us and she was napping so I was carrying her a very nice gentlemen walked up to us and offered us a chair while we waited. My husband walked up to the bar he got a drink so we were fine waiting. Once they sat us down the server was very pleasant and got us our drinks and appetizers in no time. We order our food and I was told to get the Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta... it was DELICIOUS!!! My husband got the ribeye steak and was also very happy. All seven of us at the table loved the food and the hospitality. We are definitely going back work the wait and the money!! read more

I was hesitant because it was a little pricey. I saw the portions, and I was like, okay, maybe well worth it. Not the case. I had a grilled chicken salad. The chicken was dried out and flavorless. The rest of the ingredients were wilty. One friend got a bacon cheeseburger with a mixed veggie side. The burger was cooked to the right temperature, but was very bland. It definitely needed some seasoning or sauce. My other friend got a steak quesadilla. Probably the biggest letdown. It was cold when she got it. And soggy. They said it would have green peppers and onions, and it had no green peppers. We had to ask for sour cream 3 times before we got it. Our waitress was scattered. Another waiter refilled our waters. We asked if he could get us another round of drinks. He said he'd get our waitress.... I get it. Not his table. But. The waitress didn't show up for a long time. We had ordered fries, which were neglected... they asked if we still wanted them. We figured we still had drinks so we'd take them. Save yourself... yes, they were hot, but soggy and not done. Pale. Tried them twice, first time meal was okay, but heard another table with issues with every course. Wrote that off as they were just complaining. Second time we tried we were seated in an overcrowded room at a dirty table. Food still left on the seats.
