Everyone else seemed happy with their meals but I can definitely say the TBR Toss was awful. It's supposed to be a platE of veggies and chicken, but it's just a flavorless, soggy plate of sadness. There's no spicing at all, and the best part was the zucchini noodles because I could at least salt them into having flavor. The rest was waaay too much half cooked, half raw spinach and some soggy peppers and mushrooms. Just take it off the menu, guys. We had the best service and really good food. A Sunday late lunch after going shopping, ready for something tasty. I had the grilled shrimp Caesar salad, no croutons (wheat allergy). Hubby had fish & chips. My salad came out with croutons on it, brought to the table by a food runner. I was so tired and hungry--and disappointed. Just then, the server walked out and heard my husband explaining that I'm allergic to wheat (not anti-gluten) and the server didn't even need him to finish. She said they'd make a new one. I was skeptical. A few minutes later, she brought me out a new salad and reassured me that they even grilled new shrimp just to ensure there was no cross contamination. That was awesome. The shrimp was buttery and so flavorful, seasoned beautifully. The dressing had the perfect balance of creaminess and tang. My hubby's fish was crispy on the outside and tender inside. Well we're here at the brass rail right now. My wife ordered a fillet with garlic mashed potatoes. The fillet was burnt crispy , potatoes tasted like unflavored air. I ordered the salmon with sautéed spinach and asparagus. My salmon was full of bones, the asparagus was Ice cold. I ate the spinach and the new batch of asparagus , sent the salmon back. My wife's second steak came out, when she cut into it, the steak screamed and ran down the hall. So I guess they we're just having a bad night. To be fair the potato chips were good, the iced tea was good, and the sautéed spinach and hot asparagus was good. I did try Lori's potatoes and I got to say I got better flavor out of a dusty rug when beating it with a stick, our server Monica was fantastic and was tipped well. I'll get to the excellent food and service in a minute, but the real reason your should patronize this restaurant is the owner's philanthropic efforts. For at least the last couple of Thanksgivings (may have been longer, but we haven't lived here that long so not sure) he has provided meals to people. Anyone who either stops by the restaurant or asks for a delivery, he is happy to provide the meal. No questions asked and no strings attached. OK, now about the food and service... Had a business lunch here a couple of weeks ago. I am always nervous about ordering salmon in a restaurant because most places cook it longer than I'd like and it comes out dry. Well, both of my colleagues were asked how they like their salmon and it was explained to them that TBR features sushi grade salmon and it can be cooked to their liking. I ordered the burger and home made chips and let them be the guinea pigs regarding the salmon. Although the burger was good (really I'm not sure because I gorged myself on the chips such that I barely ate it), I regretted my decision and had salmon-envy. Any time we come to St. Louis we will make a trip to this awesome establishment. The only complaint we had was that we thought it was Sunday (they have all day happy hour!) and they so politely reminded us it was Saturday. I stopped in the Brass Rail at the suggestion of an ex-coworker of mine. We both work for the same company, different locations, and after a few texts exchanged it was apparent that both of us were in need of some liquid courage and a good long bitch fest about the job. When I walked in the door I felt a bit under dressed, seems the crowd here at least on a Tuesday night around 7pm tends to be business professional. It appeared as most of the patrons were wrapping up their day at the office. As they trickled out, a more casually dressed crowd began to replace them, so I felt a bit better. The menu is extensive, spanning BBQ offerings, smoked Salmon, burgers, and a variety of other dishes that I cannot recall at the moment. Forgive my lack of memory, but remember, this was a night meant for drunken conversation about where the bosses could go (in our own minds). After several 22oz Blue Moons on draft, I cannot recall many details from the rest of the night! The parts of the evening I can recall are first the Chili. I had about a 30 minute wait when my friend got held up at work, so I ordered a cup of the chili as an appetizer and it was fantastic. I regretted not ordering the whole bowl of chili, but decided that my next visit I would be ready for the larger portion. The BBQ pulled pork was for me a bit disappointing. I'm not a huge fan of pulled pork to begin with, but I have been riding a trend this year of really good BBQ and decided to give it a shot. I think the sandwich was fine, it just wasn't the best or even in the top 5 of pulled pork sandwiches I've had recently, and for that I was left wishing I had gone with a simple burger. In all, service was fantastic, especially while I waited for my friend to arrive. Our waitress kept our beers full, table cleared, and didn't push us out the door when we stopped drinking and eating. We both needed a good hour or so to let the food settle and the beer to lose its effect, and besides, the Blues game wasn't over yet so we stuck it out and kept up the whining about the job. I'll be back again to try some of the other offerings on the menu, and also for my bowl of chili. Until then, they are a solid 3 stars in my mind if only for the lack of flavor in the food. This was a pleasant surprise and far surpassed our expectations in every way. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the food and service, leading to a great all-around experience. The atmosphere: The restaurant was very busy, as we went around 6:30 on a Friday night, but we found a spot outside for two right away. The inside was loud and lively, but with a homey feel. The food: We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer, which came with packaged crackers and a loaf of bread with a Cajun season it on top. It was fantastic all-around. We ordered the shrimp pasta and the buffalo chicken sandwich, both of which were great. The buffalo chicken sandwich was very fresh, with the soft bun and tender chicken both complimenting one another well. The service: We sat outside, but our waitress visited our table once every five minutes to make sure we had what we needed. She was very friendly, polite, and made sure that our first visit was a good experience. We spoke with the manager at the end of our meal and gave our feedback right then and there, which was a nice touch that showed that the management really cares. This is one of those places when you're deciding where to go and someone says "hey what about the brass rail," you always say, "yeah that sounds good." Upscale pub fare all done very, very well. I really like the meatloaf, the nachos, and the bleu cheese chips. The beer selection was on par with most bars, with a couple nice selections. The service is always top notch, quick with a drink. Food is timely and hot, and a server is always around when you need one. Had dinner with a large party on Friday night. Service staff was polite, food was ok - completely acceptable for the price. However, I ordered a glass of bourbon - Eagle Rare to be exact. Had to ask for it twice but with such a large party to deal with that didn't bother me. What did bother me is I was charged for a glass of Blanton's, which retails about twice as much as Eagle Rare. I asked the server about it and she said she didn't have a button for Eagle Rare so she just charged me for Blanton's instead. I'm not saying this drink should've have been $7.50 but certainly not $15. For that price, I'd rather have Blanton's. Now here's the kicker, I was also charged $2.50 for ice in my drink. Really?! The Brass Rail is the perfect 2 in 1. It's both a cool bar to hang out at, watch a game, or grab drinks with friends, as well as a nice place to sit down and have a good meal. The blue cheese chips are the bomb. Seriously get them and love them. The filet mignon was very good, but I did not expect it to be the best ever and it wasn't. The chicken wrap was boring and I do not recommend it. The meatloaf is listed as a house specialty and it sure is special. A huge portion and my date loved it so much he cleaned the plate. As far as drinks go, they have a decent sized martini and specialty drink list. The martinis are well portioned and priced. Lets just say I only needed one :) They have a variety of beers on tap and some I have never heard of before which is a nice surprise. We have been here twice and loved it both times. Was excited to splurge on a good steak and thought that Brass Rail would be a good choice as they have a meat market attached. I ordered a $38.00 rib eye and was super disappointed. I asked for it to be cooked medium but it came fairly well done. It would have been impossible to cook to medium as it was about 1/2" thick and filled with fat and grissel( at least 1/2 was that). The sides were good and I have had good food there previously so may try again but definitely never order steak again! read more

We came here with the in-laws for dinner recently. It's located in a strip mall but has a nice atmosphere once you get inside. There are TVs everywhere, so it's perfect for watching a game -- there was a Blues playoff game and a Cardinals game on when we visited. There's also an outdoor patio and a nice, heated and covered area just off the main dining room. Very spacious place. Things seemed a bit wacky when we ate there, as there was confusion as to who our server was and plates kept coming out for the wrong tables in our section. Still, service was very friendly and they did their best to make the most of it. I'd highly recommend the coconut shrimp appetizer. Huge shrimp come in perfectly-flavored batter. I had the chicken tenders salad but wish I had gotten my wife's bbq chicken salad, which was bursting with interesting flavors. There's not much fancy about this place, but the food is good, there's a decent beer list and you can stretch out while watching sports. read more

I went here yesterday Sunday afternoon, after doing a little research on here craving some nachos. I'm sure this place is good based on all the positive reviews, but there is a huge difference when your food is prepared well and when someone dumps different foods together. I've had more tender tastier leftover reheated steak than what was served here. When I order steak nachos I expect the meat to be nicely sliced and evenly distributed, but I guess who ever prepared the food in the kitchen was to lazy to craft the meal correctly as the 5 huge chunks of on my nachos were not chopped with any form of mindfulness whatsoever. While eating this pile of food that was lazily dumped together I actually felt like I was eating someone else's unfinished chopped up steak. Also ordered some fries and they were soggy as an uncovered newspaper on a rainy day. Only positive thing was the waitresses were nice. I get it, the real cook works monday thru friday, but at least pay someone that knows what they are doing in the kitchen for the sake of your community and dignity of your establishment. I really wanted to enjoy this place as much as the other reviewers on here, but Brass Rail let their quality go down the drain yesterday and unfortunately I had to experience the other end of it. Also, the entrance to the restaurant is a train wreck, I hope they plan on getting that fixed soon! IMO, 60 dollars for a pile of food dumped together does not equate to such a highly rated business no matter what. read more

Went there last night. Totally packed with people watching the baseball game. I am partially handicapped & use a walker. The flippant child seating people must not have noticed because she had the hostess take us completely to the other side of the place at the VERY BACK TABKE in front of the bar. Adding insult to injury, I had to inch my walker past all the people. She was standing by our table holding our menus & impatiently waiting for us to sit down. I visited this restaurant on 9/21/2019 late afternoon. It was super dark inside and very loud. They have a good sized restaurant with ample seating. The bathrooms leave much to be desired. One bathroom for a restaurant this large makes no sense. We were a party of four. 2 of us ordered the kitchen sink burger with Cajun fries. 1 ordered the Cuban sandwich with chips, and lastly 1 of us ordered a 12 ounce ribeye with chips. The burgers were dry and over cooked and the fries average at best. The Cuban sandwich was fatty and flavorless. My son said his ribeye was good, but nothing special. Overall, the food is below average at this price point. The service was good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He refilled drinks promptly and provided everything we asked for. Overall the experience was below average. I wouldn't recommend this establishment, nor would I eat here again. There are MUCH better restaurants to try out! read more

I have eaten here many times over the past year and with the new owner, it has finally become one of my favorite places. Service is always good. It seems no matter how busy they get, I always get the attention necessary. Drinks are always refilled and plates cleared in a very timely manner. I have had several dishes for dinner and lunch. When I was there before new ownership, I ordered Chicken once and it was so dry I couldn't eat it. I was very hesitant ordering the chicken again but was glad I did. It was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was excellent. This had me curious as to how the other dishes were. The one thing I really liked from the previous ownership was the ribeye steak sandwich. I was disappointed that it was no longer on the menu. However, after eating several times there, I quickly forgot about that, realistically it was the only good thing on the old menu, and now I have choices!! I love the southwest chicken soup and the crab cakes are the best I have ever had. I had the prime rib which I really liked. The asparagus is seasoned and cooked perfectly each time I have been there. The specials they have for lunch never disappoint. I find the owner very passionate about what he cooks. I recently met my parents here while in town visiting them. Given that I'm not a huge fan of suburbs, I was impressed by the food, customer service, and local feel of this place. The Brass Rail was busy when we arrived around 7pm on a Friday. We arrived right as the Blues and St. Louis Cardinals were about to play so that obviously brought in a crowd. We had to wait 5-10 minutes but were then seated. I like that they text you when your table is ready. Our server was really busy but the Manager or Asst Manager checked on us and went ahead and got our drink and food order. She made sure we were taken care of until our server got freed up which I appreciated. We got the coconut shrimp appetizer which was delicious. I don't know if it was hand breaded there but it tasted like it. For a meal, I got the BBQ chicken salad. Even though I'm not a big fan of salads, this almost made me like salads more as it didn't just taste like lettuce with chicken. The chicken was smothered in a nice BBQ sauce and several other ingredients made it great. There is a patio space, and although there isn't much to look at since it's in a strip mall, it was a nice patio. They have lots of TVs to watch games. Overall I enjoyed my experience. read more
