Less than pleasant experience. Ordered chicken wings as an appetizer. Server asked if we wanted wings out first , we responded yes. Wings came out AFTER the meal.......Ordered two steaks one medium one medium rare. Medium was served extremely rare the medium rare was well. Mashed potatoes cold. Two returns to the kitchen on one meal ....nope take it off my bill. Server was hard to find. Couldn't get refills on our water .....get the bill they had charged us .50 for a side of blue cheese dressing with the wings that never arrived....... this was our second and last visit. If they are going to tell people they are known for their steaks they should make sure the kitchen staff know how to Cook to temp ordered. Wings were good. Unplanned dinner with the family - 8 people. We arrived at 3:45 asked for table of 8, was told it wouldn't be long - next thing we know an hour later - we were told, no tables because they had reservations so won't be able to seat us. This was ONLY shared to us because we went and asked the rude hostess - who told me and my sister-in-law different stories. We asked to see the manager, who was working in the kitchen at the time. He did come out to talk to us, rudely said he heard a different story, had no tables and walked away. No one offered us the option of sitting outside, manager didn't offer an apology, no offer for a free dessert (lol) - he did absolutely zero except walk away - CLASSY MANAGER! Unfortunately, we were already over an hour in of waiting, chatting with Chad the bartender (great!) and decided we would eat at the bar with him. Pained my family to spend one penny with such rude people. Food was fine, Chad was awesome but we will NEVER step in to that place ever again. To the owner, teach your staff to be kind. They screwed up, which happens but the way handled the situations is a complete shame to your name and character. I know you have built your name on doing amazing things for the community but the people who worked last night, did you very wrong. read more

I've been frequenting The Brass Rail since the beginning and must say theyve come a long way. Theyre located next to Friar Tucks at the end of the strip mall. It's more of a sports bar/restaurant with a dozen tv's literally. All of my visits have been during lunch where I've tried quite a bit. Done dine in and takeout. The standouts are the buffalo chicken sandwich which is a monster of a portion maybe even shareable for the lighter weights which they will split for you that is best with bleu cheese. The grilled chicken wrap is also a winner which I've had with both their reg and cajun fries that are both great. The best thing I've had here is the grilled salmon which they say is sushi grade but seasoned and grilled to perfection. This might just be the best salmon I've had in life, so far . Couple of duds are the guacamole which tastes like a powder mixed with water and the prime rib lunch sandwich, which isnt the worst but also not that good. The chicken philly while salted ok just lacks the kick it so needs. Service can sometimes be a hit or miss but as of late much better. All in all a great spot that maybe one day I'll visit for dinner. read more

We've eaten here many times and never left a review...shame on us. We usually stop in on a Saturday afternoon and sit at the bar- always great service. Our go-to's are the crab dip (definite east coast flare in this dish...I'm from Baltimore and this is authentic crab dip!). We also LOVE the smoked wings- absolutely the best wings in the city, or anywhere. A hint of Old Bay...and the way these are smoked- just incredible flavor and taste. We've also had nachos, brass balls, black and bleu tips, buffalo chicken pasta...we're obviously big fans of this place. Highly recommend...be patient as it can get busy! read more

I frequent Happy Hour here and even though there are no appetizer specials, the drink specials make up for it. The Lemondrop martini here is my "go to" drink of choice. I've several items on the menu, but my appetizer of choice is the Chicken Potato Skins, no BBQ Sauce and a side of Ranch. They also offer the skins with pulled pork, which is good too. My wife and I tried the Brass Rail for the first time on our date night in December. It was fairly busy but our table was in great spot with Covid and all. I had the salmon and greens and my wife tried the ribeye. Overall both were delicious. I'll definitely try this place again. This was the 2nd visit to this restaurant. My initial experience was wonderful so I brought my family back for dinner. The dinner experience was extremely disappointing. They have a large menu and the food is above average. I do remember the food left an impression the first visit. The initial hostess was welcoming but everything after that was left a bad impression. They did not have the sandwich my son wanted or the jumbo grilled shrimp I ordered. We were informed about the sandwich but not the shrimp . My plate had 10 regular shrimp. I asked to speak with a manager at which time he indicated they just gave me additional shrimp to compensate for not having the shrimp instead of notifying me. I told him I would have ordered a different entree had I known, his response "you still would have gotten the same amount of shrimp"! (I never got what I ordered because you don't have it). He shrugged his shoulders and walked away. We also ordered the crab dip appetizer (2nd time) it came out and was too salty. The bread served with the crab dip was still very good. We all had salads with our entrees. My husband and I both enjoyed the Caesar salad and my son a fresh house salad. The food was average. I love giving to local business especially one that gives out free Thanksgiving meals to those in need. Our service tonight was absolutely unacceptable. We ordered on Door Dash at 4:30 to have our food picked up at 6:30. It was confirmed then and we waited. Our door dash driver had waited and waited. They remember making our food, but then don't know where it went. Needless to say this was all "figured out at 8:30 when my family was well past starving. Not entirely sure who is at fault, but the Brass Rail did offer to go get us food from another location. I hope they figure out a better system of letting people just run in and take food. With all these food delivery services now and especially with the restaurants being closed inside, we can not be the only unfortunate people to have had this happen to them. I am hoping to go there again; however, it won't be any time soon. read more

Preparing 7,000 meals for veterans, first responders, and those who need it most guarantee that you've found a lifetime fan. This is an incredibly moving way to live your life and give back and it doesn't go unnoticed. My husband and I would love to volunteer to help next year. I found The Brass Rail on a work trip and loved it the first time I had it. Not a thing has changed. My favorite dishes: Monterey shrimp Salmon Mashed potatoes- omg to die for!! They have a really fresh and delicious house salad. The service has always been great. Fast, friendly, good pours from the bar. Josh behind the bar makes the place feel like cheers. I would have given a four if it was r for the last three times I went to brass rail. The first time my gods came out wrong and it took me about twenty mins to flag down my waitress. This was during a slow time around 2:30 on Wednesday. The second time the food was ordered to go. When I picked it up the hostess went threw the bag with me to make sure everything was there. When I got home about 8 minutes away. My burger was supposed to be medium and it was well done. Completely dry. The onion straws were a giant clump of raw onions inside wet battered. It grossed me out when I took a bite. It ruined my meal. I called back and they offered to remake my food. I asked for a refund. The manager wound up giving it to me but it took five days. I understand the credit card companies r more to blame for this. The third and final time I went I found plastic wrap in my burger and fries had been double or triple cooked. The fries were so greasy and yet the potato was hallow. I really want this place to succeed. They are always busy and I try to give the benefit of about. Especially since I have been I. The restaurant business for 20+ years. I know how hard it is right now for places to get good staff and Togo sales are up. It makes being perfect every time or just constantly producing good food very difficult. I haven't given up on this place yet. Stayed in OFallon for one night on the way to IA, and I'm so glad we went here for dinner. The food was so good!! Hey brought loaves of bread with a chocolate butter that was like a dessert (a delicious dessert) and a Cajun butter that was also very good. The smaller entree and a starter meal was more than enough food. Definitely try the gnocchi entree! When the waitress found out we'd never been here before, she brought us a free dessert. I was listening to the radio one day and found out that the owner of the brass rail provides free thanksgiving meal to families in need, cooked and prepared in his own restaurant. His staff volunteer their time to make and deliver those meals. I decided to try his restaurant based on this. The food is terrific, the staff is warm and genuinely friendly. The menu has a little of everything. The coconut shrimp and steak sandwiches are legit. A restaurant that cares about the food it produces, their customers, and gives back to those in need.
