We visited on a Friday afternoon for after work drinks - the place was packed, which we took to be a good sign. We ordered the mixed appetiser platter and a few drinks - the food is amazing. It has been a long time since I went to a bar where I got a sense that the chefs were passionate about the food they cook. It showed. The menu is limited but I tasted a fair bit of what they offer in the mixed appetiser platter and everything was fresh, well cooked, well presented and served fast. We plan to visit again next week to try out their burgers. We did not stay long enough to listen to the live music - the guitarist was just setting up as we left. In summary - this is a great bar. Good place....good vibe. The food is just OK...ordered the appetizer plate and everything on it was fried...with A LOT of breading on the items. What a great find! Service was awesome and friendly. Korean BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos were delightful and the size was quite deceiving - two people were challenged to finish and we lost the battle. Nachos 1 - Eaters 0. Not a beer drinker but my husband is. Over 50+ taps and let's just say he tried several different ones and was not disappointed with any. Checked this place out today. Would have been a 4 star but they don't have highchairs, and from what I hear, aren't convinced that they need to. You guys are in the burbs, open at 11a and have a full food menu!! Don't care about a changing table or kids menu... give us parents a break and house a few highchairs! Easy peasy. The comment about the weird vibe is spot on. Went for OU-Texas game 65 degree day, perfect to have those amazing garage doors open. We just wanted to sit outside and see the great TVs. We asked the server but the Manager absolutely refused saying it was too cold to open them. Then people inside complained it was too hot inside so he opened half way totally blocking our view. Weird. Walked in and no one acknowledged our existence. We chose a table as finally instructed to do. We sat there for 15 minutes before the server came over. We ordered drinks and hamburgers right away. It took about 25 minutes to get the meal. We needed extra napkins and salt and pepper, our server was standing in a group of 5 other severs, so it took awhile to get these things. Our BBQ Bacon burger was over cooked and had little to no BBQ sauce and the bacon was like jerky. After dinner it took another 15 to 20 minutes to get our check(after asking another server, since ours was no where around). Will not go back! read more

I'm back... again!!! My friend and I walked in at 10:43 and still no service at the bar! Tables can be easily greeted in that time frame, but any pro restaurant even Olive Garden greets you in less than 4 minutes. I had to ask for a drink menu and food menu. I know what I want to drink where ever I go, (stout or IPA) but any time I ask Kim at the Brass Tap, we are told to wait.... I'm writing this review at 11:01 and still no attendance. Kim came by and told me she is refusing service to me because of my precious negative review on her performance on yelp. She then told me that a young lady named Megan would serve me instead. Megan was kind and sweet! She took care of my needs immediately. My friend Cooper accompanied me tonight, so we not did NOT receive drinks till 11:12 because Kim was making drink orders the servers entered. Many may find this issue minuscule but for those who dine often see it's an problem that will deter a consistent customer base. Kim makes people feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, she's rude and holds a grudge. What bothers me as a customer is that she knows I was the one who had written the negative review and she goes out of her way to be rude and mean instead of fixing her attitude..... Either way game over! This place will slowly go downhill because they hire staff that doesn't love and appreciate the guest and greet them like they actually matter. Kim made my friend and I feel like we are just another tip out for her. If they kept hard working people that love the community they will do great. Kim just wants her tip out that's it, she belongs in a dive bar not in good classy Roanoke. This is a great new hip place. Went on Thursday night and it was hopping. We tried the chips and salsa and pretzels as appetizers. Chips were too greasy for us. Left an aftertaste. Pretzels were great. I got the pork tacos. So yummy! My son had the mini burgers. Enjoyed. Husband and other son shares the wings. We will definitely be back. They had happy hour specials on appetizers. We were charged regular price but it was so busy we didn't want to wait for the waiter to come and correct. read more

This place was hopping! We were there on a Friday during happy hour and it was a great crowd. Crowded enough to be fun but not so crowded that you couldn't find a place to sit. They have a small outside seating area that is great. They have a bevy of beers to choose from. And lots that aren't readily available at other places. Nice place to try new beers. I love a place that gives you a sample before you buy. You can also get flights here as well. Which I liked because you could try four mini beers before deciding on the drink for the night. Just really great beer choices. Had an appetizer of the pretzels and loaded tatertots. The tatertots were freshly made. None of that frozen business. They seemed to be deep fried mashed potato balls. So good and so moist. We really enjoyed them. The pretzels were a different story. They seemed stale and microwaved. The cheese was just ordinary and so was the mustard they were served with. Would not order them again. Got a free taste of the pizza they will begin serving this weekend. It was ok. More like a high end frozen pizza. High drink prices for the inattentive wait service and incredibly slow food service. I am thinking I just don't know the millennial bar protocol. No bartenders make eye contact or ask what you want - they just go about their business unless you hail them. At that point they are very helpful but go back to robot behavior until next hail. Have eaten here twice for weekday lunch. Place was very clean, has a great menu, and is well organized. Great venue for sports watching ...all state of the art TVs etc. very few customers (1 other table seated). Waiter was very helpful, attentive and helpful. Kitchen was very slow. Food came out hot but took way to long. Portions were small and taste was average. Could be a great lunch spot (location and offering) but they will not survive with high quality price points on very average food and slow kitchen. Decided to tried this new place after the movie. Walked in was told to sit anywhere except most of the tables were dirty. So we had to sit added to the top table that was extremely wobbly. The waiter did come quickly and recommended a couple of appetizers since it was still happy hour. We had the Korean barbecue nachos with the beer cheese sauce and the cheesy bread appetizer. Food was excellent, but I'm not sure I'd go back just based on the service. We waited a good 15 minutes for the check after asking for it, which we finally received after I flagged the waiter down. Then we waited another 20 minutes for him to return so that we could get the receipt and leave a tip. Eventually a waitress came over to ask if all was well when she saw us craning our necks to look for him, with empty drinks and finished food on the table. I asked her if she knew where our waiter was. She had to go track him down and he finally came back a few minutes later with the receipt. No apology. Fantastic craft beer selection!!! 50 crafts on tap plus numerous craft bottles. Bartenders are great. Food menu is fairly limited (some Yelpers posted pics of it) but it's all you really need if you're coming here for the beers. Good apps (wings, nachos, etc), flatbreads, burgers, handhelds, etc. I had the wings which were pretty good. I'd probably order the nachos next time. All in all a great place to come to after work. Went for the first time and while the food we had was very good, and the atmosphere was okay, our server seemed very detached and scattered. We had to flag him down several times, and even resorted to getting a different server's attention for extras (like refills, napkins, silverware). The patio looks really nice for warmer weather dining, as the inside area is very loud even when not very crowded. The draft beers were an interesting mix of things, but they were out of a couple of taps that we wanted; however, they have a vast selection of bottled beers as well. Ultimately, our checks were brought to us via our server standing next to us, simply telling each of us what we owed. I had to ask for an itemized check/receipt as the amount was quite a bit higher than expected. When he finally brought me an actual paper receipt, he apologized for not adding correctly initially, as my total was about $15 less than what he originally quoted me. I'm glad I protested! And when I was giving him cash to pay the final amount, he asked what I wanted in change (in other words, he wanted his tip immediately I guess). Regardless, I'll try it again sometime, but am hoping the service is a bit better and more consistent by then. read more
