Finally a bakery in Wakefield Center! And what a bakery! The bread and pastries are amazing. I tried the chocolate chip scone and cranberry-orange scone and it was buttery and tasted amazing. You can tell the owner / baker uses only quality ingredients. But the bread is what you should really come in for. I had the sourdough and it rivals any of the high-end bakeries in Boston. I was sad to see the Italian Kitchen go, but I like this place. I tasted one of the Bread Shop's blueberry muffins and I love it. The top of the muffin was slightly crunchy and toasted to perfection, but the inside of the muffin was soft and moist. This muffin did not need butter at all and it literally melted in my mouth. The blueberries were fresh and absolutely delicious, and there were plenty of them. I thought the price was good for $2.50 for this muffin. I will have to try some of their French bread and sourdough bread next time. This definitely is not your supermarket bread. read more

I ordered 2 loaves of bread, some cinnamon rolls and scones during self-quarantine. I ordered them all for delivery, and it was such an easy process, so I greatly appreciated that. The loaves of bread were delicious! The french loaf was nice and crusty and the middle had great chew. We used it to make sandwiches, so we toasted the bread, and it truly made the sandwiches! I also ordered the Asiago Pepper loaf, which was also good, but had more pepper than Asiago. The cinnamon rolls were also delicious. The dough was a little thicker than I expected, but still a nice chew, and the cinnamon/sugar filling on the inside wasn't skimpy, so it was very well balanced. Def would recommend eating these same day if you can, as they dry out. I just reheated a piece of it in the microwave, and it brought it back to life. I didn't particularly care for the scones, as they were rather dry and didn't have much flavor. But if you are looking for a nice, fresh loaf of bread, I highly recommend The Bread Shop! I'll def be ordering from here again. read more

I'm a regular here and absolutely love this place they really do an excellent job, their breads are fabulous and service is great! They also prepare yummy breakfast and lunch sandwiches and have rotating soups during the cold weather. Their lavender lemonade was perfection not too strong, not too sour or too sweet-- just right, but this isn't something they always have, but it's a treat. Parking isn't always available as it's busy on Main Street in Wakefield, but if you can find a spot it's worth stopping in. read more

I happened to be walking by the other day, so I stopped by to check out this new business. I had plenty of bread at home, so I just ordered a blueberry muffin to try something out. I think it was the most delicious blueberry muffin I have ever tasted. It had a unique blend of flavors; I am not sure what they all were but I think I tasted lemon and vanilla among others. The top had crumbs, but they were very light. The flavor and texture were divine. It was small, and cost, I think, $2.50, but it was well worth it. I see here on their yelp page that they sell vegan muffins, but I am not sure if this one was vegan or not. All I know is it was delicious, and I will try to swing by again soon for more blueberry muffins! read more

I go by this place twice a day on my way to work and just stopped in a few weeks ago for lunch. I have been about 5 times since and tell everyone in my office how good they are. The muffins are to die for , I always get one to eat later. The caprese sandwich is by far my favorite, the cookies are amazing. It smells so delicious as soon as you open the door. Oh My Goodness!! The breads here are amazing! They've got the textures down wonderfully, crunchy crust with moist, chewy inside. Al dente. Each with a different distinctive flavor. They actually make different doughs, they don't simply shape the same old dough into different shapes. My favorite is the Maine Grains....so flavorful. I've been looking for a place to get a great loaf of bread locally for a looong time, the problem is now that it is here I'm in there several times a week, not just for occasions. This review is for their Apple, Blueberry, sweet potato pie,and blueberry muffin. They are just average. For the pies, the filling is decent but the crust can be better. The crust tastes either bland or raw flour-like. I haven't tried their bread yet but they look good. I wish I could give it a better review because I wanted to support a local business. I hope the owner reads the reviews and make some adjustments. I'll give their bread a try since everyone seems to like it. read more

Wish I could say how great the food here is, except that when I've asked (three times) if specific food allergens are in the ingredients, the owner and staff brush me off with a blanket 'we can not confirm nor deny the presence of your allergen in our products'. What kind of professional food industry owner says that? Between my child and I we have 5 different food allergies (that are not gluten or dairy) and no matter how badly I'd love to support fresh, local baked goods, I've been treated very poorly and won't risk our health on someone who is clearly irresponsible about it. Very good place for fresh baked bread. Go there about once a week. Good size loafs of bread match the price. Stays fresh in the bag for a few days, but it gets eaten before that. Good decor inside, off street parking, but a good new addition to the shop's in Wakefield center. read more
