First time going here. Wanted to try the sausage gravy & biscuits. Gravy was excellent, biscuits were very buttery. Hash Browns were fried potatoes, done fresh. Eggs tasted like they were farm fresh, too. Staff are very efficient, with out being intrusive or annoying. The ONLY down side is the noise level. There are no soft surfaces, or white noise generators, to dampen the sound. The shoppe is clean, and homey. Very pleasant. The prices are a tad steep for what I'm used to for breakfast meals. The menu is short and not many choices. I had the Benny's Bonanza which is a kind of sampler. The eggs were OK, done to order. The bacon was dry and overdone. The sausage was mealy. The biscuit crumbled when I tried to take a bite. The waffle had a crunch and the pancakes tasted stale. The food is amazing and freshly cooked. The portions are large and well priced. However, if you order something sweet you will probably taste peppers and onions because it seems like they don't clean the griddle in between cooking different meals (this has happened a few times). Other than that, overall it is a great place to get breakfast and or brunch. Fast service, but it gets overpacked quickly and loud. read more

Visited on a Saturday morning and waited for about 20 minutes for a table which wasn't too bad. But we were sat at a small 2 person table and the end of an aisle which I felt confined and in the way. My husband had a bacon and cheese omelette and I had 2 eggs with scrapple and grits. Food was good, but the food, a coke, and a coffee was over $50. Almost $4.00 for a coffee and the same for a coke seemed a bit much. I certainly don't mind paying for good food, but the cost for basic breakfast food has risen quite a bit. read more

Dependable breakfast food! I enjoyed my first time. Be mindful that there's going to be a wait on a Saturday morning, the place is kinda tight/small and loud. I ordered Benny's Bonanza breakfast because I knew it was going to be a lot of food that I could split between a few meals. The bacon was nice and crispy, sausage link had a great flavor and texture, potatoes were cooked and seasoned pretty well. It also came with eggs cooked how you wanted. They scramble them kinda hard. Croissant is nice and soft, cornbread is decent but wouldn't get again, pancake was okay (texture is kinda crumbly). I think if I had the pancakes again I would ask for them to be brought out hot. By the time they got to me they were very room temp and not that good. Someone else had pancakes that came out hot and they tasted much better. Waffle was pretty okay, don't know if I would order one by itself. French toast was good, but I prefer brioche over challah bread. Everyone else enjoyed their food. I would definitely go again! This one is a toughie, not as straightforward. Food: solid. Appreciated the full, robust menu with a lot of different choices. From healthy to indulgent, breakfast to more lunch. Good prices. Actual taste of the food: also good! Good-sized portions. Was bummed that the biscuits come in frozen and only baked on site for a breakfast place but appreciate them having the option. The Bloody Mary's: so much potential. We were pumped when they came out however when we (two petite women) were able to sip them down so easily, it was clear that the vodka content in them was basically non-existent. Bummer for a $12 tomato juice. Service: They were packed and so it was great to be sat quickly at a clean table. Food also came out quickly. Actual table service: eh. Our waitress didn't really seem to enjoy serving us, somehow. Very 'check the box' service without actually caring about providing friendly, attentive service. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict and the sausage gravy with biscuits through Door Dash. Both came with hash browns. The biscuits were so dry they just crumbled. The sausage gravy had no appreciable sausage. The sausage was ground up so small it was like it went through a blender. The Benedict had a square slab of cream cheese on the English muffins. It just didn't look appealing so I only had a bite. The hash browns were in a molded brick form and were just ok. Only ate a few bites. This place has earned a following and good reviews. Do not go here for pancakes!!! Very dry, falling apart, no flavor. Cook is not using enough egg. The pancakes were also burnt. They tasted like cardboard. We were not able to finish our food. Also restaurant very loud. You have to speak up in order to be able to hear one another. You are better off going to an ihop. read more

Chicken Biscuit Benedict I Cynivised this by adding extra gravy and hollandaise, which I am glad I did since you don't get a lot, might just be a carryout thing. The eggs are poached perfectly in little half dome shapes. Chicken was overcooked and dry presenting like it was warmed up. Ot also lacked seasoning. I like the cheesy flavor to the hollandaise sauce. The biscuit tasted and presented like it was a day old maybe just sat under heat lamp too long? The fried potatoes tasted like they were par boiled first and then placed on the grill, which to me isn't the same flavor, taste and texture as true fried potatoes. Service was friendly. My husband and I recently went here for breakfast. We went on a weekday and, while it was crowded, we were seated right away. Our server was friendly and polite. She came to our table to take our drink order just moments after we sat down. While the menu had various different options on it, it was not overly unique. Most of the items are the same breakfast options you would get at many other restaurants. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was not on the bone. It was chicken tenders. He knew this based on the description on the menu, but it is still disappointing. Not many restaurants offer chicken and waffles with chicken on the bone. My husband said the chicken tenders were seasoned fine. He also said that the coding was nice and crisp. He did not have much to say about the waffle quarters because they were pretty averaged to what you would get at most restaurants. I ordered the strawberries and cream French toast. The cream was simply whipped cream, and the strawberries were sliced, fresh strawberries. I have a choice between those or a strawberry compote. In retrospect, I should have gotten the compote. My breakfast was fine, but slightly underwhelming. I was hoping they would have a stuffed French toast option. There was nothing wrong with our experience, however, for a restaurant that was featured on the Food Network, I was not able to figure out what makes them over above. We have been here several times and have always been happy with our food and service. First things first, the chai latte here is the BEST. I would literally come just for chai takeout if I could. It is seriously amazing-- better than Starbucks, DD, you name it! We have had a variety of items but I stick to classic eggs, home fries, toast, Benedicts. Last time my husband branched out and had the biscuits and sausage gravy but it wasn't our favorite. Overall, it's consistently good. Service can be a little hit or miss, but usually it's pretty good. They are usually always swamped while we're there, which is why I truly understand how service can sometimes be a smidge slow. Usually has such long wait times but was lucky to get in twice this week! One with no wait and one with a 20 minute wait (which was understandable as that time we were a party of 7). The large portion size is fantastic for the prices. I got a breakfast sandwich and the biscuits and gravy. Neither are bad, but they could use a touch of quality control so I'm giving it 4/5 stars. It was a little bit of a twist from what I have had before being on pretzel bread with a mustard sauces drizzle but it was sweet, savory, crunchy and chewy all in the right places. Large portions and excellent quality. The only thing I'd note is it is a smaller venue and noisy. Despite the crowd service was good and we were checked on multiple times during the meal. Such a great brunch spot! Warm, busy vibe, lively but not so loud that you couldn't actually talk. Service was quick, friendly, and on top of things. I had the West Coast Eggs Benedict and wow! so good. The avocado was super fresh, the bread perfectly toasted, and the eggs were spot on: cooked whites with perfectly runny yolks. I used to be a regular here several years ago, back before Covid. They made a lot of changes such as decreasing portion sizes and getting rid of options like the build your own omelette. At the time the Breakfast Shoppe was already pretty pricey, but they were always busy. Decided to give them another try mainly because I was hankering a chili omelette. Let's just say I was supremely disappointed. The omelette was cooked fine, though the cheese seemed very plastic-like. What disappointed me was that for $19 I would expect the omelette to be smothered or filled with their "homemade" chili. It was neither. The omelette was mostly plastic-like cheese with barely any chili inside and a literal smear of chili on the top. I think that there was maybe a tablespoon full of chili in the entire omelette. The home fries were great but didn't make up for the poor quality of cheese and quantity of chili in the omelette. What a ripoff. Won't be back. read more

I don't leave this review lightly given the challenges all small businesses face, but we've given this restaurant multiple tries since our move to SP in 2021 and the most recent time was the last for us: Eggs and potatoes were simply too greasy (I get the greasy spoon vibe, but balance and restraint are still important). The eggs were not seasoned, whereas the potatoes were a salt bomb. Pancakes were powdery and crumbled upon picking up with a fork or fingers, meaning the ratios in the batter (recipe) were off; taste was also off. Every time I come here, the food ceases to amaze me. Everything is always so good, and so so SO affordable. It takes me back to my mom's home cooking, every meal gets some food loving. The waitresses are always so helpful and so nice. They check on you regularly and just very personable. The restaurant is set up very family style, its simple and comfortable. Perfect place to go to on a Saturday morning, especially after partying all night. Now the food. Oh boy. When I first went here, I got the Benny Bonanza. It's been raised up to $17 since I ordered it a year ago, but at the time it was $12. FOR ALL that food. You couldn't beat that. The sausage links are some of the best I've had at a restaurant. The orange juice tastes so fresh, I can't tell if it's store bought. I've had several of their entrees and none of them have disappointed me yet. This is such a cute place. I appreciate that it was not hard to locate and they serve breakfast all day. However, here is the best part; the service. I was greeted with such a welcoming smile. I decided to sit at the bar and the service was still top tier. I told the waiter that this was my first time in and they were so accommodating. They provided amazing suggestions from the menu and they did not miss. I got a Belgium waffle with eggs and home fries. My good and out efficiently and fresh. A neighborhood experience. We arrived Monday, around 11:30am & only had a brief bit of a wait before we were seated. The staff was incredibly welcoming-once we were seated they helped me get baby all situated in a high chair and nearly every waitress/waiter/busboy came by at some point to make smiley faced hellos at baby welcoming her. Even while we ate the busboy played peak-a-boo with baby- we had so much fun dining. It felt like dining with a massive extended family. I settled on the Benny's Bonanza, so baby could try a bit of everything, and they were incredible accommodating nixing the butter and powdered sugar to make it baby approved. The platter was MASSIVE, it actually fed myself, baby, and allowed us to bring her dad home some leftovers! There was the biggest slice of French Toast I've ever seen served, perfectly crispy bacon, well charred ham, juicy sweet sausage, fluffy pancakes, fluffier massive portioned eggs, creamy grits, the moistest biscuit, and warm ready to pour coffee. They have wonderful selections for eggs Benedict I love that they offer eggs poached as well. The French toast are always good no matter what type ordered. The chicken and waffles is a must! While the seating space was semi tight we still got a seat pretty quickly for how packed it was. Food was excellent. I got the steak and eggs (highly recommend) my girlfriend got French toast.
