I was looking for a place to grab some coffee to start off my weekend last Saturday while trying to avoid the big chains and venturing too far from home when I remembered that I saw a new coffee shop in La Puente that I hadn't tried yet. With my luck, they were open and only a few minutes from home, so I made my way over to The Brew House to grab a cup of coffee for myself and a cold brew for my partner. I ordered an iced cafe de olla and my partner got a black cold brew. I took my first sip and I must say I was deeply disappointed ... that I could not drink this beautiful cup of coffee every day because they are only open on weekends. The cafe de olla was creamy and rich and full of so much flavor that I went back on Sunday and got myself another. I'm excited to go back this weekend and try something new, but I might have to go twice so I can still have a cafe de olla. The shop itself has a cute, community-focused aesthetic as the walls are adorned with cork boards and a chalk board for messages and drawings from patrons. It is inviting and does a good job at making you feel welcome. The service was quick and friendly. Overall, not a complaint to be found (other than the fact that they've drawn me in with this wonderful experience that I can only have two out of the seven days of the week)! When I saw this pop up as a new coffee shop I was so giddy and ready to get down to the nitty gritty! But unfortunately my first experience here wasn't as memorable as I thought it would be. The space was not finished or so I thought and the drinks were just ok but at least the service was good. Three months passed and decided to give it another shot and was hoping for something that wows me. The shop looks the same so that didn't change. The service was still good so there's that but the drinks. Man I was again disappointed. So I ordered the horchata cold brew and the dulce de leche. Now I'm not saying I'm one of those coffee connoisseurs but I've been to many coffee shops and my track record speaks for itself. Both drinks just didn't hit with the flavor on both of my trips here. I ran pass this cozy little coffee shop in old town La Puente and decided to stop by for a nice latte. It's a small locally owned coffee shop locate on 1st street. I've lived in LP for little over a year now and did not know about this area. They serve cold brew, blended coffee and lemonade of different flavors. I ordered the dulce de leche latte substitute with oat milk. It tasted very delicious and perfect amount of sweet. The lemonade looked very refreshing as well and that will be my next item to order when I return. It is literally running distance for me. Now I know where I can stop by if I want a take a small breather/break. yay! read more

The Brew house is a great local Coffee shop in Old Town La Puente. Currently it is only open on the weekends. A simple yet satisfying menu to pick from with the ability to add your own twist to it. I was indecisive so I ask Ada, who was assisting with my order what her favorite was, she recommended Oatmilk Matcha Latte or the Caffe De olla. La Puente has been in need of a local coffee shop like this. Family owned and affordable and fair!!! I will not be going to any starbucks in la puente anymore...the coffee deserves 5 stars. I have been waiting for the opening of this cafe. I missed the grand opening but I stopped by today. I love the location and the interior is super cute. There are cork boards for customers to write and leave notes to the staff and other patrons. (Yes, I left mine today.) I was greeted with a friendly hello and a smile. Don't sleep on this little coffee shop! To be honest, I was just a little bummed as I walked up hoping I could sit down, enjoy some coffee, and get some work done. Unfortunately, no wifi YET but totally understandable!! Very new business and only open on the weekends. HOWEVER, that all changed as I grabbed my coffee to go and went by the popular suggestion on Yelp - the Cafe de Olla. And OH MY, I really did not expect to be blown away. I usually drink my coffee black with absolutely no sugar, but wanted something different today. I mentioned this and accordingly, they kept it light on the sugar and it really turned out to be just perfect. I'm thinking I'll have to start treating myself to this on the weekends!! Not to exaggerate but this honestly was some of the best coffee I've ever had. I probably would have taken a picture of it if I didn't finish it so quickly cause it was so good. My girlfriend and I got the cafe de la olla and tres leches cold brew and they were both extremely good. Maybe the tres leches cold brew could have a little less tres leches and more cold brew but everything was very delicious. Coming back soon!!! read more
