This Place Has Delectably Delicious Goodies, Everyone Is Extremely Helpful, Especially Rusty.

This is the only place I can find a decent scone and clotted cream. Lots of other fun British fare too. I love this place.

I have shopped here for 14 years, and have always had a great experience. I started after a trip to Ireland in 2006. Wanted to recreate Irish Breakfast, which is just marvelous. They have bangers, rashers, and puddings, as well as beans HP Sauce, crumpets, marmalade, and Barry's Tea. There are always other lovely surprises. The service I have received has always been friendly and delightful. I just read several negative reviews and can't help but believe those people are entitled jerks. The prices aren't cheap. The food is authentic, imported, and delicious. If you want cheap food, may I suggest the 99 Cent Store? read more

A nice find, particularly if you are jonesing for something britoid. I had just finished watching a Spaced marathon (okay, self-induced Spaced marathon on Hulu), when I had the sudden uncontrollable urge to get me some Jaffa Cakes. I tried CostPlus and Mel & Rose in LA. No luck. But the British Grocer pulled through for me. I wanted to give this place some love mainly because of Maddie and her mother (the woman who manages the shop). I searched long and hard looking for Chocolate Chip Scones in Orange County and have not been able to find one (well, unless you to to Aliso Viejo). I found this place and while they did not have chocolate chip scones in the store, they did have a service where I could order a dozen for $12. That's $1 a scone! What a deal! Most scones go for $3 or $4 and it's usually not even close to the same. Also, the wonderful woman who bakes these scones usually puts in another one, just cause. I love this store mainly because of the service, and the scones. Great as it gets and they will always take care of you. read more

What a cool little place! Even if you've never been to the UK, you can enjoy some of the country's tastes in Fullerton. From candy; to soft drinks; to frozen goods; to pastries, you can get it all in this cute little shop. If you've had the opportunity to travel there, it's a chance to re-stock up on some of those tasty favorites to make you nostalgic about your last visit. It's located behind Green Bliss and Stadium Tavern and I would have missed it if we weren't eating outside. There are a variety of gifts, dishes and other knickknacks to purchase for the home. Some of the items are a little pricey- but they are the real deal. I'll be back to purchase some meat pies and other culinary delights from their frozen section soon! Then I weep myself back to sleep because Jaffa Cakes don't exist in the life I now lead. Until today that is, when I found out there is a leetle british grocer within 5 miles of where I live! Oh frabjous day! Tucked away quietly inside a plaza in downtown fullerton, the British Grocer is half import foodstuffs and half tea set shop. They carry all your popular uk sweets, which are dust free and NOT EXPIRED like the stuff you'll find at cost plus or little india food stores. They also have freezers filled with pudding, treacle tarts, pasties, and all that other good stuff you read about in roald dahl books but could never try here. British food might not be the greatest, but you won't leave with that impression when you make a visit to the British Grocer. Because they are the tops! And they have jaffa cakes. read more

All the Cost Plus World Markets by me stopped carrying McVities Ginger Nuts. Why for the love of ducks would you stop carrying the most delicious tea biscuit in existence? I shake my fist at you, Cost Plus! Where else can we find tea biscuits? British shops. Which one did Yelp recommend? The British Grocer. And we were off. We found the Ginger Nuts. YAY! In a hard-to-find shop. Boo. With lots of other goodies. Yay! That were very expensive and often past their expiration dates. BOO. With a nice Scottish-brogued lady at the register. Yay! Surrounded by way too many easy-to-knock-over tea sets, in which I felt like the proverbial bull what with my cane. Boo. Nice place, wish they had better turnover. We bought a bag of Walker's toffees with hazelnuts that were not just a little rancid, but completely and utterly rancid, having sat in a window location for several months past their sell-by dates, which we didn't notice until we got them home and tried them. Tucked away inside a professional building among offices and a few restaurants is the British Grocer. I stumbled upon it by accident because I needed change for a $20 while visiting the area for an appointment. I thought it was just a liquor store or deli, but its more than that. If you have lived in or visited England and are missing some of the tasty treats from there you need to take a trip down here. Here you will find every British snack treat from biscuits (cookies), teas, chocolates, including a Cadbury treat called a "Flake" which is a airy wafer made entirely from milk chocolate that melts in your mouth. I've only seen them in Solvang since returning from my 2 trips to England. There is a refrigerated section with pasties and a few other items I didn't recognize. Then there are the tea sets, so delicate and beautiful. I was afraid to get too close because I'm a little accident-prone. The owner was a charming woman from southern England. I got change for my $20 and a handful of Flakes to go. I think I still have melted chocolate crumbs in my cleavage. read more

The Skinny: Place is neat to experience a LITTLE bit of British goods and culture. The price is even greater than the British exchange rate so beware of that! The Fat: I got a culture shock when I went to London for a 10 week study abroad trip. One of the main shockers: price of goods. When I walked in the British Grocer, I got the same initial shock: price of goods...albeit in a bad way. The lady working there was real nice and helped me look for some things but when British Tea is $22? You do realize most if not all tea in England is imported from Asia? So basically, the tea is imported from Asia to the UK then to the US. Well, I guess I can go to a Chinese market and get the same tea if not in better quantities, varieties, quality and price! This place is neat and reminds me of what I am missing out in London, but the prices are out of this world....in an expensive way... TIP: I got lost trying to find it so let me help you guys out. The place is hidden in a little patio area. The patio area is within a plaza between Wilshire and Whitting. If you pass Whitting: Look Right. If you pass Wilshire: Look Left. Look for the sign: Villa del Sol. That Whole building facing Harbor is the plaza you are looking for. You will see a gate and a walkway into the courtyard/patio. Above the gate, it should say 305. Walk in and it's on the bottom floor all the way to the back. You can't miss it by then. TIP 2: If the parking on Wilshire is full, you can try the Free 2 hour parking on at West Amerige Ave., between Harbour and Malden. read more

If you've ever visited any part of the British Isles, you will have developed certain cravings for odd foods that you just can't find here in the States... Spotted Dick, Digestive Biscuits, Cadbury chocolates, Eng. cookies/tea,(OK, those last two aren't very odd, but, well, you know!) to name just a few. The British Grocer is one of the few Brit stores that carries a wide variety of goodies that you can't find anywhere else. A couple of things I really like about this store is that they change out their goodies seasonally, and they carry non-food items as well. I love to come in here just to look at all of the fun items they have for sale. Oh what a lovely find! I was meandering through the building (forget the name, but located across from the Rialto Cafe) and found the British Grocer tucked away off on the side from the central court yard. Seeing various candies and tea cups near the entrance pique my interest. Delighted to see candy, cookies, teas, breads and other types of food from the UK! Half the store is dedicated to food products and the other half is dedicated to tea sets, china and other stuff with the British flag plastered all over it. Didn't really get to look around that side of the store too much because I was too interested in the food. Picked up a mars bar and a cadbury milk bar. Didn't see the prices posted but they turned out to be $1.95 each. Not cheap, but I wasn't expecting a specialty store like this to be inexpensive. I love candy from other countries so I'm glad I found a place sells them! Plus they sell lots of food I haven't even tried before. And they have a frozen food section! The lady and the counter (who I'm assuming is the owner because she spoke with a British accent) said that they have been there for 20 years. So this place must be popular! read more

During a long gap in between classes and school events, I decided to wander around and explore Fullerton. Curious, I wandered around until I came across the British Grocer which pulled me in when I saw the tea sets through the window. I browsed around silently, completely mesmerized with the tea cups consisting of all sorts of shapes and patterns. I tend to do that with any dishware but tea sets are my particular weakness. There was also a very cool British telephone booth that displayed tea strainers and wired serving bowls. In between the tea sets and porcelain were little perfumed soaps and shampoos. There were also various knick knacks and pretty greeting cards for sale in the front of the store. The other half of the store was the actual grocery and filled with frozen goods, candies, biscuits and syrups. Some of the items I could easily find at World Market while others I had never even heard of before. I madly grabbed one of each refrigerated drink that caught my eye and boy did that add up in the final bill. Imports are pretty expensive after all. I obviously angered the clerk when I took a reference photo for a particular cup model that I wanted without asking. I originally didn't want to interrupt her conversion with another customer but the situation was (hopefully) cleared and I apologized profusely. Afterwards her service was pretty friendly especially when I asked about these adorable high tea sugar cubes with little bunnies pasted on them. I know my British fanatic friend will go crazy for them and I can't wait to show her this shop. I really do want to go back for that cup and some snacks. read more

I'm so happy I found this adorable shop located in Downtown Fullerton. I was hosting a Bridal Shower tea party for my daughter and was looking for traditional English foods. Jackie the owner went above and beyond helping me. She not only had fantastic suggestions. She offered to make scones for the shower. She made 30 mini scones, that were truly the best scones anyone at the party had ever had. She helped make this day even more special than it already was. My husband just moved over here from England and he was so happy when I told him about this little store nearby. It's expensive, true, but we gladly pay a premium for many items that you can't find anywhere else. We usually stock up on Hobnobs, custard, golden syrup, and chocolate bars. They also have English newspapers available for free. The owner is just the sweetest lady and we spent nearly an hour in there yesterday just chatting with her. Honestly, if you have a craving, you have a craving and at times this might be the best solution to that itch. However, I went in today in search of Percy Pigs and Irn-Bru, and unfortunately no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. It's expensive (a small bag of wine gums for $5.95!) and the service is a bit lacking - the woman running the store was having a long social chat with someone and I hovered awkwardly near to ask a question - yet, she never stopped chatting so I just left. Totally hidden in this shopping area, but a treasure trove of British foods and goods. Go for the crisps you miss from London. Go for the Cadbury candy bars -- like Porkie... no girls! Or go for the small tin of peppermints that goes by the name of Jesmona... they've been making their humbugs since 1906, and they've got their act down pat! I have never been to the UK but I have read books and watch Vlog about London on YouTube and I really want to visit there. Due to financial reasons, I am unable to travel to London. I found this store on my way to a friend's wedding and I had to check it out. I bought a box of English Tea, a bag of raisin Eggless Cakes, and a candy bar of Barratt Fruit Salad and the price added up to be $11.08. In term of how they taste, I enjoyed what I bought. The only reason why I gave the business the three stars because of how expensive they are. Another reason is the owner Jackie was rude and not genuine at all. I was the only customer who she was helping and she was rushing and being blunt as she provided service. Come on, if she wants to keep customers, she needs to cut it out and be patient and gentle with customers. It's called good customer service. read more

I have been coming to this place for years and it has remained the same that entire time with Jackie Or Pam there to greet you. The prices on a few items are a bit high for food made in California, but the selection is very nice and some items are hard to fins and you need to just be a smart shopper, The Violet Crumble candy bar from Australia and the Ribena first drew me and my parents through the door and unfortunately she no longer carries the candy var, and I am sorry,,but the English version is weak,,,BOO HOO,, LOL . here is the hitch, if you have a hankering for a taste of Britain out of your ice box.... Awesome place! We drove from Colton because our local british shop is closed on Sundays, and we were not let down. We were lucky enough to get to meet the owner who, like my wife, moved here from England. Needless to say, they both had a lot in common, so we had some great conversation and it really made our day :) My wife said that she was in heaven with all of the goodies and products from her homeland! I love all things British so I love this store. There are so many pretty tea sets, tons of British candy (which the BF went crazy for) and lots and lots of authentic foods. I totally just stumbled in this place walking around the Villa Del Sol shopping center looking to kill time. I've been looking for somewhere to get some clotted cream; I'm fond of scones and wanted something traditional to slather on them. I found a few things that I rarely see which I had been meaning to pick up. I mean vegemite in the US, really? So you're going to pay a little more than you should. So what? If you order the same items online, there's always shipping you have to worry about and fact of the matter is, shipping food never seemed like a good idea to me. They're doing the work of importing such goods, and I like to patronize small business. I'm probably going to go back to get a new teapot. I love teapots. God am I a geek. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! As a starving student with a 3 hour break, I've decided to take a stroll around downtown Fullerton. There I've stumbled upon the "Villa Del Sol" building in which I've ventured around frolicking about the inviting courtyard. What caught my eyes was the center store which was called "The British Grocer" I walked in out of curiosity and the most beautiful candy rack greeted me. "OH MY GOD!" I was happy to see LEGITIMATE "Cadbury" chocolates and also that old "Kinder" chocolate! I almost cried! They even have the "Not for girls" chocolate bar. Other than the chocolate...they also have interesting little things that I stopped to check out... The lady who works there is awesome! She's so nice and friendly! OK. This British Grocer has a really nice English lady who makes her own tea cozies for sale here. There is a BIG selection of fine English bone china and china from China. I actually found my Roy Kirkham bone china from England! It's not as thin as the bone china mug that my roomie broke years ago, but I'm so happy to be able to replace it! The price is comparable to online, some items are $1-$2 cheaper, some are a bit more. One half of the store is dedicated to food, and she has some stuff others don't have. One is the Walkers Highland Oatcakes $6.50, something I love, and haven't found elsewhere. Wish it was cheaper so I could buy more. Will come back later. read more

The shop is a good size and has a wide variety. They have chocolates, sweets, tea, drinks, biscuits, condiments and a million other things that I miss from the U.K. They also have trinkets such as cup & saucers, teapots, decorative British items etc. The lady behind the counter was very sweet and polite. The reason I deducted one star was because it is a little pricey, but I don't mind paying a little more once in a while for a sweet taste of home!
