    Sliced Kimchi

This tiny mom&pop kimchi spot near Knott's is amazing. Soo good we started munching on it right in the parking lot Fresh, crunchy, and packed with flavor, definitely a hidden gem. They offer slightly riper kimchi at a discount, perfect for soups & stews!

A friend in Tucson mentioned that he missed freshly made kimchi, so I decided to bring him a care package on my trip to Arizona. I figured I'd check out this place since it looked like they made fresh kimchi in the back. Probably better than what I can get from Hmart It's a small shop, and most of the items didn't have English labels. The owner was very nice, so I just asked for his recommendations. Before suggesting anything, he asked about my friend's age and gender--which caught me off guard. What does that have to do with kimchi preferences? I had no idea. After that, I asked what else he thought I should bring. He suggested either chili paste or bean paste, so I went with a 1/2 galon bean paste. I think my friend was really overwhelmed by the care package. My sister also swears that oyster kimchi is to die for--her friend's friend sometimes brings some over. So next time, I guess I'll have to get some for myself too!

Genuine hidden gem This family-owned shop is busy despite no marketing and almost no signage. Customers come by word-of-mouth only and the front is serviced by the son of the owners. I had read reviews that there is little English, but had no issues as a non-Korean speaker. Every kind of kimchi you'd want is here (only one spice level) and they come in 1/2 gallon or 1 gallon jars. We got the 1/2 gallon cucumber for $18 and Napa cabbage for $21. The cucumber is the exact price as Joonga's at Costco and Napa is double the price but SO worth it. You pay for the quality and support a small business. It's well-seasoned (more so than average) and mild spice level. They offer dry goods and drinks. There's spices, bean pastes, and sikhye. I've heard their sikhye is amazing and runs out fast. There's no timetable for when they make it so be sure to get there early! Summary: best damn kimchi you'll ever have for a decent price!

Kimchi was delicious! Crisp, marinated with just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness. Don't get me started with the oyster kimchi....so yummy. They take cash and card.

Perfect warm personable service! Got rice punch oyster kimchi and bean paste. Gonna make a righteous stew to celebrate November with the paste. Ambiance is clean pure and organized. They literally have all one needs for a Korean kitchen. Plus view of Knott's roller coaster!

Kimchee fresh. Price is excellent compared to local supermarket. By the way the spicy cucumber is the best. Highly recommend this place.

The food court was so crowded and difficult to order as there were long waits for food. I was just so happy that there was a food court. After the excitement passed I noticed it was a bit small then I went to pick up some groceries and seen how small the grocery side was that I couldn't believe it. There are barely any aisles for any sort of groceries and the prices are high. Even the sale items I feel are higher than I can get at other Japanese markets. This should have been at least double the size or they should have just made it all a food court or simple grocery store. I will still try to support it but it's tough to get groceries as their prices are much higher. As the newness has worn down, it's much easier to get in and out to pick up some things. Unfortunately for the business that there's a lot less foot traffic.

They have a large parking lot, but it's also pretty bus at times. This is a big grocery store with a wide variety of Asian foods. I got some shrimp chips which I like and cannot find at other stores. The seafood section was PERFECT! They had such a wide variety of seafood from fresh in fish tanks, to frozen in the open freezers. I would definitely highly recommend visiting for fresh seafood and Asian foods. The place is pretty crowded and we did look out of place, but I didn't care. People were friendly and even if they had limited English they would try to communicate with us and help us. It is a pretty crowded space so be aware of that. They form one long queue for the checkout and go sorting through the lanes. Overall I have a new go to place for seafood.

Check everything before you leave the store is a lesson I learned. Inside the bread bag was a partially eaten container of seasoned seaweed that I had been eating. Before I even entered the market, the security guard at the entrance stopped me and, in a confrontational tone, asked, "What's this?" I showed him the container and explained that it was simply the seaweed I had been eating. I asked if there was a problem. He replied that the market sells the same product and that it could be misunderstood. I completely understand the need to prevent shoplifting, but instead of politely explaining the situation, he spoke to me in an accusatory manner from the very beginning and even criticized my tone of voice. I've shopped at many grocery stores, but I've never had a security guard confront me before I even entered the store. It completely ruined the shopping experience for my family. My children were surprised and upset by the security guard's rude behavior. They kept asking me what had happened and why he was talking to us that way, which made the whole experience even more disappointing. To avoid any further misunderstanding, I left the container of seaweed at the entrance before going into the store. This was an extremely unpleasant and disappointing experience.

I waited for a while and received no assistance so I asked the guy for help. The man did not speak Dutch so I explained to him what I wanted (salami deli meat). I asked him for a pound of deli meat. I went to shop around the store and noticed the fridges were empty as were the isles. After a few minutes I came back to the deli counter and found my uncut piece of meat (in tube form) placed on the weigh scale? To my dismay I asked him if he was going to cut it with the pretty slicer machine near him? I mean that's how it used to work and how it works at any other deli meat counters. As the man cut the salami I continued to shop and picked up a jar of silver onions that looked brownish ( the onions inside the jar) and I thought well maybe they are supposed to look this way. Maybe they were a different type of onions. When I thought to look for an expiration date again to my dismay I observed that it had been expired since 2023. Unfortunately I purchased extra pedas chili which looked ok but when I got home I found out that it has been expired since 2018 (please see attached picture). This wasn't the worst of it though because we found a jar of something with leafy green bits that had been expired since 2013. Yes 2013! Bro! You think I should try the chili? You think I'll survive?
