The food was amazing!!! Service is good. The only thing that through me off was the desserts. I didn't realize that the desserts are the same pastries that are in the cooler in the front. So when we ordered dessert, I was surprised it was all really cold. Eating a really cold scone, muffin and cookie dough bar was rough. It made it all taste dry. It wasn't comforting or savory. There is always a wait to get in but believe me when I say it is well worth it! The same people own Rico's World Kitchen in Buford and the owner Rico KNOWS food! I believe he learned from his mom ! The biscuits are light and fluffy topped with sausage gravy and a side of scrambled eggs one bite and you'd think you were in your granny's Kitchen except you have to pay here and not by snapping or shucking the latest garden haul! The best advice is get there early even b4 they actually open because even though you'll still be in line on the weekends the wait won't be as bad and you'll get seated when the doors open. I've never had a bad server here either I think bc they enjoy their jobs! read more

Stumbled upon this brunch spot while searching for new places to try in Gwinnett County while I was home for the holidays. A good ol Yelp search led me here and I'm so glad it did! The Brunch Apothecary is a old timey restaurant situated in what appears to be someone's former home with a porch and there's even a swinging bench outside. Parking was extremely easy as there is a nice sized lot in the back. Lily our waitress was amazing! She was very knowledgeable on the menu and provided recommendations. They have seasonal specials that she was so well versed on it led us to change our order to she she recommended! For starters we ordered 2 biscuits to share (they are huge and we didn't finish at all), potato wedges and fried green tomatoes. We were a group of 4 and that was plenty! For the entree my husband & his friend tried the Cajun fish biscuit special- fried fish atop a biscuit smothered with an étouffée sauce. I tried the Red Rooster which was perfectly seasoned with a mild spice level. My friend ordered the smothered gravy biscuit and was able to get the edit sunny side up instead of poached. Overall this spot is a hidden gem! We will definitely be returning next time we're in town!! read more

I made a failed attempt to visit this establishment during its peak hours and decided to leave due to the long wait and return at an earlier time to avoid the morning rush. I am so glad I decided to try them again! I have no regrets. I enjoyed sitting outside on the patio - the weather was perfect and the service was fast. Every item was flavorful and unique. Gotta love New Years Day brunch! I had stayed at my girlfriends place in Lawrenceville for New Years so wasn't sure of any good brunch locations nearby. Thank you Yelp! Found this place 6 miles away with amazing reviews so wanted to try it out. We arrived with her two boys, and yes this place is kid friendly. It looks like an old house and reminded me of Buttermilk Kitchen off Peachtree Rd in Buckhead. Her boys said it looked like an old Church . There was a wait and we opted to hang out. They have a nice front porch patio with chairs and tables to wait in. I will say, most of the people eating here look like they're eating for two (or 3) and it's not a very diverse crowd (my gf didn't think it was diverse). Once inside, it's pretty cozy and atmosphere makes you feel like you're eating in your own home. We ordered coffee and hit chocolate for the kids. The server was awesome and topped theirs off with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. I was worried the community brand coffee wasn't going to be good (I've had their kcups) but it was decent. The menu is very limited but it has some really good dishes on it. I'm not currently eating red meat so that knocked out 70% of the menu for me. I wanted their biscuit casserole but it had bacon so I did the red rooster. My gf got their biscuit casserole and her boys got the chicken & waffles. My meal was huge. Big ass fluffy biscuit with a large piece of breaded chicken in the middle. I had hoped it to be a bit spicier but it was good. Certainly enough food for one person and no sides needed. I did take a bite of my gf's biscuit casserole and I really liked it. Ugh, damn bacon. Hers tasted like it needed more of whatever sauce they had drizzled on top or some hot sauce. The boys said they didn't like their food but my gf said the chicken and waffles were amazing. If I come back here again, I'm going for the chicken and waffles. My only complaints would be the lack of menu items for non meat eaters, and the bathroom. I waited 10 minutes to use their one bathroom and somebody had that thing on lockdown. I've been waiting to write this review just because this place is THAT good~!!! I'm going to forgo the decor and service both are which are exceptionally well done and head straight for the food. Favorites: Banana Pudding Waffle (daily special not always available) - I'm a sucker for banana pudding and when I heard this special I had to jump on it. The waffle is light and crispy, the banana is ripe and savory, the pudding is divine. All together, I'm going to have to start a petition or beg them to add this to their menu permanently. Chicken and churro waffles - this crowd pleaser has a new twist and it's executed to perfection. The chicken tender is juicy, succulent, crispy and crunchy. I'm not a fan of waffles, but I've become a believer of why so many people love waffles. The churro flavor did not over power the waffle, the sugary cinnamon and crispy waffle paired wonderfully with the guava syrup. Just thinking about this, it was amazing. Tip while the chicken on top of the waffle makes insta-worthy, for the best experience get the chicken on the side so the waffle in the middle doesn't get soggy. Red Rooster Chicken Biscuit - the habanero sauce is delicious and this thing is stacked high. A fork and knife job. The buttery biscuit make the sauce even more explosive with flavor. Build your own biscuit - tried this in many different combos. But bottom line the home made biscuit slathered in that wonderful gravy is not to be trifled with. Possibly the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. And finally, the hash brown casserole - It's simply executed to perfection: crisp on the outside, buttery and soft on the inside. There was a long wait and I wish you can add your name to the list prior to arriving but hey, WE WAITED!!! I got the green monster biscuit which was a biscuit with pimento cheese, arugula, green Tomato jam and a fried pork chop served with house truffle Parmesan potatoes. I don't remember the truffle parm potatoes I think I had their standard potatoes but it was goood! I also had their whipped coffee and added simple syrup, to DIE for!!!! My son created his own biscuit and I snuck a piece of his ham and it was just as I expected DELICIOUS! I ordered the Chicken and Waffles ($11) which was WOW absolutely DELICIOUS! You can't go wrong with this order. The chicken is FATT and juicy, I got so filled up that I couldn't even finish everything. If you want the waffle to be a little sweeter, order the Chicken and Churro Waffles instead because they coat the waffle with cinnamon. I ordered the regular Biscuit ($2) on the side and boyyy is that huge as well. I was really excited about this place and wanted to give it 5 stars but just can't for my first time there. To start off though, the place is so cute and quaint. They have a bench swing and courtyard to take awesome pictures and we did with family visiting for the holiday. As soon as we sat down, they announced they were out of their famous biscuits!!! Maybe they don't make them in house ? So we could sub for croissants, but once our order was supposed to be sent to the table they said they were out of croissants but could have our build a biscuit on Texas Toast. I was positive and had a steak and cheese "biscuit". It was rather good and I added syrup to my toast and steak. Over all the taste of the food was great. Due to all the trouble the management did take care of parts of the bills for our group. My kids and husband were happy with their food and that's what counts.
