I was really looking forward to visiting this bakery but was unfortunately disappointed. The bakery shows up at the top of the 'best of ' lists in Albuquerque and I. will admit that the selection is fabulous and the staff are A+. However the breads and pastries were over baked. I had a cruffin and initially thought I had forgot to take off the paper wrapper but that was the pastry itself...dry and tough. The chocolate and the cream filling were excellent however the dry, nearly burnt croissant pastry ruined the experience. Same issue for the sourdough bread. Great flavor but tough dry crust. I don't have an issue paying extra for good food, but $15 for one loaf and one pastry was overpriced for the poor quality of the products. read more

I haven't tried any of the breads because I have a serious sweet tooth and all the desserts I've tried here are amazing. At my work people like to bring in donuts or cookies from Walmart and I will not be that person. I love to see the look on people's faces when I bring in a bunch of pastries from the Burque Bakehouse. I discovered them at the farmers market and get something from their stand every time I go. Last time I even bought some of their gourmet graham crackers and made s'mores with them at home. It was dangerously addictive. read more

Best chocolate chip cookies ever!! It took some convincing for them to bring them back out but man are they good. They also have literally the best macaroons in the entire world (i have had Katherine's in Denver, I've had them fresh from Paris, I've had them from Ladurèe in NYC, these are THE BEST!) I highly recommend the Lemon and Yuzu macaroons. Sarah and the others at Burque deserve a big round of applause for these baked goods. The only thing is, it's hard to clap and eat at the same time and you better believe the eating is happening. Make your weekends something extra special by visiting Burque's stand at the Saturday Downtown Growers Market or Sunday Rail Yards Market. Enjoy them while the market season lasts because it's never long enough. There's good news for the off season though. You can get all their great stuff year round at Zendo coffee shop downtown. Two words: almond croissant. Two more words are twice and baked. Yes, the butter and green chile/jack cheese croissants are great too. Yes, the same can be said about anything they make. Just note that before you go here there isn't a place to sit inside. You order at a window that has each of their baked items in display and a list of some coffees they offer. I ordered the ham and cheese croissant and a Boston cream cruffin along with a burnt honey latte. My total was around 15 dollars. The ham and cheese croissant was incredible. It's the main reason I'm coming back! The Boston cream cruffin was delicious too and it had a much richer chocolate than an average donut frosting. Their cream was superb and added the right balance of sweetness to the butteriness of the croissant layers. I'll definitely be going back again since there is just so much to try. read more

We stumbled on this hidden gem while in the area. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about their product. We got the almond croissant which was phenomenal. Seriously, one of the best croissant. We also took home the sourdough pizza dough and made it for dinner tonight. When I am telling you, this pizza don't taste like no homemade pizza. Their macarons are one of the best here in ABQ! If you know me well enough, you'd know that I'm a HUGE sucker for these! My most fave flavors from here would probably be earl grey, pistachio, & coffee! You can't go wrong w/ any of those! So happy they opened an actual storefront! Very much worth the 20 minute drive for me for these delicious pastries. My favorites from this trip: Boston cream cruffin, salty cashew cookie, and black & blue (berry) danish. I need to try their bread loaves next time! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try them yet. I have been there 3 times already during weekends and there is always a 20-30 min line. May be during the week is better but I live and work in the other side of town. I am 7 month pregnant and it is impossible for me to stand in line for that long. Due to COVID I wasn't able to buy from them at the rail yards, instead I used their online ordering for weekend pickup. I wanted to love this place so much. I think I ordered one of everything. The cannele were decent and I would order them again. That said, everything is was burnt. Even the pictures for ads are burnt. If they would take things out about 3-5 min earlier, they would have some great stuff. This little bakery has a large selection of bread, pastries and treats. The best in Albuquerque and I can see the business is growing. Some mornings there is a line around the corner. First time today at rail yard. Sour cream coffee cake dangerously delicious! It's a good thing it came in a one hearty serving cake holder, because I might have the whole big coffee cake in one day!!! We also got a savory green chile cheese thing for my partner and she raved about it. In each you could taste the love. I actually haven't been to the actual bakery, but I just tried some of their goodies. O.M.G. Their buckwheat cookies are AMAZING. (So are their almond croissants.) I tried their stuff at Zendos (a local coffee place - also wonderful) and the guy in front of me was telling me that he had a roommate who used to bring the buckwheat cookies home and he used to eat them like they were cereal.
