I actually have shopped here a lot in fact last Christmas I got my prime rib roast here and they cut the bones back and tied them up per my request. All the meats are really great quality and the butchers are very knowledgeable. I've got some really great cuts of meat and they have some great seasonings and frozen options too. This is one of those bittersweet reviews because I love to give them the credit they deserve for having such great meats and being so knowledgeable but then again, I don't want this place to be slammed when I need to come by to get a good cut of meat. if you live in the area you should definitely check them out. read more

Today I discovered my permanent butcher in Las Vegas (Henderson actually). I had been there once before when I first moved here 4 years ago but I was in a hurry and bought only some hamburger (which were fantastic!) I forgot about them especially during the peak of the pandemic but today I discovered them in my contacts and went back. What an incredible selection of meats and seafood. Today I bought a 3 pound Prime Tomahawk Steak. Even at $25 per lb it is really a treat that will last for 3 meals. I couldn't wait to try the steak so I cooked it in a Ninja Foodi XL Grill covered in a layer of mustard and and Montreal Steak Spice. It was phenomenal. I realized that I am fooling myself when I pretend that Choice Grade is as good as Prime but that's factually not true. The steak was tender, just enough fat and really crispy on the outside while maintaining medium rare thought. What a treat and well worth the extra ones. I would rather eat this once a month than a lower grade of beef every week. I also purchased two Chilean Sea Bass Filets. They were fresh and never frozen which is extremely hard to find especially in landlocked Henderson and Las Vegas. I could have spent $1000 easily but right now I'm just getting used to my business opening up again shortly. They had all types of seafood. Scallops. Crab Legs, Salmon and more. In the meat department I noticed various grades of many cuts of meat, marrow bones,and a freezer full of miscellaneous specialty foods. I will continue my review as I try different items but I already know that that it will all most likely be as high in quality as the steak was. read more

First time here and was pretty impressed. We asked for help from one of the butchers because we've never purchased a prime rib roast before. He helped us determine what size we needed and he cut it and tied it with a bone for our liking. Also, there were a few customers that gave us advice on how to bake the prime rib while they were waiting in line. By the time we left there was a handful of people waiting to place their order. My husband and I will definitely be back as they had many different meats and seafood to choose from and their customer service was excellent! The Butcher Block had been on my radar for a while, but I hadn't had a need for their particular set of skills until now. I was looking for a very specific type and cut of meat for a meal that I was planning to cook for the wife and me. The Butcher Block operated out of a small shop in a new-ish strip mall. While all butcher shops probably look pretty much the same (i.e. well-lit spaces with refrigerated cases filled with beautiful cuts of an assortment of meats and freezers along the wall filled with cuts of even more exotic meats), it reminded me a lot my go-to butcher shop back in the DC-area that I frequented on a regular basis. I took this as a good sign. Given that I arrived at the Butcher Block a little before noon on a Tuesday, there was only one other customer in the store with me. Social distancing wasn't really a concern on my visit. All of the staff that were visible to me and the other customer were wearing masks. As mentioned earlier, I was looking for something specific, 4-pound, bone-in, square-cut lamb shoulder. I didn't expect to find it in the refrigerated cases and I didn't. However, I immediately found exactly what I was looking for in the freezer case. Score! I also thought that the price per pound was very fair. I was in and out in about five minutes. From an operational standpoint, the Butcher Block likely hasn't changed much from how it operated pre-pandemic. They had the full range of beef, pork, and poultry. They offered dry-aged prime steaks...food for thought for another time. They also had game meat in the freezer. If they don't have it, I'm fairly certain that they can special order it. Still, the most impressive thing to me was that I found what I needed, although it wasn't necessarily a commonly found cut of meat, in the middle of a pandemic. The consistency of premium quality cuts of meat coming from our new butcher shop here in Henderson is enough to make this part time vegetarian turn into a full time carnivore. The Butcher Block is seriously that good guys! Just finished up serving all our special occasion dinners over the past few days. Got nothing but compliments all day(and night)of how much more tender and tasty the bone-in ribeyes,rib roasts,and filets are. The Tomahawk Ribeye is DAMN GOOD! Made me out to be like some awesome chef! haha! It was that much better and a significant difference from the neighborhood grocery and specialty chains I frequent. It is worth the few dollars xtra per pound to pay for freshness, quality and care that goes into preparing their meats. Check out the seafood case too. The lobster tails are H U G E! I started coming here couple months ago buying their sausages that they make in-house and getting bone marrow to make my bone broths...and those were excellent! The tumbled filets are a winner too! The shop is clean, the cold case displays are clean, and stocked. If you don't see something in particular, ask!! If they do not have it in the shop, they can special order it. They also can customize your cuts. They don't make sandwiches here like their other shop in Vegas. Shout out to Yelper Adrian D. whose suggestions on my Yelp app check-ins led me to try their steaks. Thanks to Jessica P too! She talked up there prime ribs! I'll take word-of-mouth source over a prettyfied photo on IG any day anyway. Staff is very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Did not feel intimidated asking dumb questions. Did not feel rushed when the shop was busy. There was a major boost of business over this past week, like, line-out-the door kind!! This is the new location for the butcher block. They are open as today. They have 2 other locations in the valley. The people here are so friendly and personable. They are happy to answer any questions you have. There are so many varieties of meats that they have, from your average pork and beef to lamb and ostrich and more. They also carry marinated chicken and beef for easy to prepare meals. The meats are of good quality so you know they will taste great! Also check out the different sauces and rubs to take your BBQ to the next level. It's so awesome to have a butcher in Henderson. Update 9/2/17 I needed smoked ham shank so I called my all time favorite and reliable butcher. I called on the phone and asked if they have smoked ham shank and they yes, come on by. So I packed up the family and drove up to horizon ridge. When we got in the store I asked for the smoked ham shanks and the guy points them out. We look and the sign says ham hocks. We say those are ham hocks not shanks. He said yeah the shanks are on order hopefully they will be in tomorrow. Since we needed shanks not hocks we left. I feel like my time was wasted and I felt betrayed. This guy straight up lied to me on the phone. Why would you say that you have something if you don't? They could have also said we don't have shank but we have ham hock. I'm not sure if I want to go back anymore. I'm just incredibly disappointed. I took away 2 stars. read more

When I'm in the mood for a good cut of steak, I'm already on my way to Butcher Block. We usually grab the porterhouse or NY strip, and every time, the meat is so tender. Gone are the days of going to Smiths or Costco for steaks because Butcher Block blows everything else out of the water. As you would imagine, it can be a pretty penny if you're going for the larger steaks but it's well worth it! We come here for special occasions like holidays or date nights, and it's perfect if you're looking to make your meal just a little more special! Everyone here is helpful and very knowledgeable.
