The saving grace from this experience was our server Tiana. Quite busy for a Friday night during off season. We did have a reservation as we were there for a bachelorette party. There really isn't a separate space for larger groups so we were in the dinner room and it started getting TOASTY. A bit warmer than usual November nights but wasn't really accounted for until someone asked to open a window. We got the Sweet Potato nacho fries and buffalo pretzel fondue as apps. Both delicious, solid 5/5. Majority of us got the braised beef ravioli (special). It was meh; seemed under seasoned, the beef was in the ravioli, and the Demi-glace was pretty much a gravy. It wasn't great. Someone at our table ordered the salmon, it was the last dish out and it was raw so we had to send it back. Someone else had the walleye but the mashed potatoes and asparagus were cold. Heard the steak was good and someone else got a sandwich that was decent. The harvest pizza was by far the best; very fall flavors, textures, crust was Maybe it was just an off night but disappointing for price point. read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!! Me and my fiancé just waited 2 hours and 20 minutes at the table. We sat down at 6:30pm and didn't get food till after 8:00pm. Not to mention the 50 minutes we had to wait to get to our table. We did sign up for the wait and knew about it. But all and all the progress to have dinner took over 3 hours. At first we were okay with long wait just figured staffing shortages. But then, the table behind us came in 45 minutes after us with 6 people and got their food 20 minutes before us. There was 2 other tables in a very similar situation as we were. It got to the point that I was just waiting on our waiter to come back to our table to tab out. Before getting our food. Unfortunately for us the next time we did see him he came over to help the girl who dropped off our food. Then, by the time our food did come out it was warm at best. Not to mention both of our orders didn't come out right. Basic things that were wrong like leaving jalapeños when my fiancé asked for none. Which isn't a big deal. However, for a $100 meal for the two of us and a 2 hour 20 minute wait. I'd expect our meals to be hot and correct. I will say food and drinks had great flavor. Even with our food being cold. Very disappointed in the whole experience. Never had a restaurant experience as bad as this one. Like I've never had an experience so bad that I had to write a review on it lol. read more

Tried the famous butler, everyone from the area we talked to says it's just ok but iconic. Stopped in for dinner one evening. Service was fast and friendly. Waited about 30 minutes to get a table process was all done by phone and very easy. Food was wavy and by that I mean great appetizer, average burger, great onion rings, ok fish, and good sweet potato fries. The appetizer we enjoyed was the stuffed mushroom caps which were phenomenal and highly recommended if you go. I got the horseradish burger which was ok. My wife got the perch basket where the fish was kind of bony but the breading was good. Place offers great view of the harbor. Would stop back when in the area but maybe not my first choice. read more

Nice wood detailed restaurant and bar with great view of the water. We have eaten here many times over the last 10 years. For the most part food and service has been but not exceptional. The past two times the food was not entirely satisfactory. Maybe it was the time of the year, winter , but we both ordered the walleye. French fries were good but the fish was overbreaded; it had virtually no taste - don't know whether it was frozen or not. I also noticed that a lemon was not on the plate since the dish essentially was fish and chips. It took a while for our server to arrive and take our orders but the server did not make an appearance until we asked for the check. read more

My husband and I are gluten free. They have buns and pizza that are gluten free. But our waitress served us fries coated in flour that I tasted before I realized it. Hadn't been here in several years. The atmosphere is excellent. Lots of polished wood with large windows looking out over the harbor. We had a table by the window. Service was friendly and prompt. My friend and I each ordered the soup special -- cream of crab--and a Reuben sandwich, served with chips and pickle slice. Soup and sandwich were very nicely prepared and served. Soup was flavorful with meaty chunks of crab. The Reubens on toasted rye were very tasty. We enjoyed this meal and accompanied it with raspberry tea. A very nice experience. Out the window we could see construction on a double deck outdoor eating area along the river. Might be available this summer. We'll certainly be back the next time we're in Saugatuck. read more

Restaurant sits right off the pier overlooking the water. Corn salsa with chips is so refreshing! Volcano burger was not overly greasy. Blackened tuna has the perfect amont of spice! lemonade tastes amazing! Perfect for a lunch/ dinner outing in downtown saugatuck! Stopped by to make a reservation for dinner on the new patio on Saturday. The top floor is not yet being used. We were told it would be a 2 hour wait, thankfully it was more like 45 minutes. The menu they are currently using doesn't offer a lot of options. The shrimp cocktail and street corn chips and salsa were yummy. 4 of us ordered the pizza and the crust was delicious! The Butler has changed dramatically since our last visit. We were there on Wednesday August 2nd. We were seated immediately inside which was fine. The service was just ok. Our waiter had a serious accent and was hard to understand. We ordered stuffed mushrooms which came out cheesy but dry. They used to come out in melted butter which was much better. No bread with that. We used to receive bread! My wife had a Caesar salad with shrimp.. very few shrimp by the way. I had a signature burger that was just ok. The service was slow as was the reception of our order and it was not lunch time and also during the week. We have been going there for over 20 years and I am not sure about going back there. I reserved The Butler for my son's rehearsal dinner months in advance, The manager Kim was prompt in responding to every e mail. We pre ordered food for 34 people and it was served piping hot within 15 minutes. Jess and her staff were amazing. Couldn't have asked for better service. We went outside on the patio for a welcome party and Nick was awesome making sure everyone was served ! He went over and above ! We had a great time! Love the Butler and the food was so good! I was pleasantly surprised with the service, food and beautiful spot on the outdoor patio. I had the Oberon burger which was delicious with just a touch of heat from the pepper jam. Went here with family on July 4th. The town was insanely busy but oddly the restaurant wasn't all that busy. I ordered the Bang Bang shrimp tacos. They were very dry with not much flavor. The shell was flour but somewhat hard. Almost like they had been sitting out for quite some time. It's probably not the case but that's what they tasted like. It would have helped if I could have gotten a refill on my drink but I wasn't offered one until I'd already managed to get the last one down. The chips and salsa were very small. Not quite worth the price. Others in the party ordered Walley and some other fish dinner. Those looked really good but they didn't comment on it. Parking was a nightmare. I dropped them off at the door but I had to park close to a mile away. Surely all the parking space wasn't filed up by customers. Maybe they could oversee that a bit better. read more

Loved Patty, our server. What a great lady! The restaurant has a great nautical view with great history infused into the walls. As you walk in you see the original fireplace and arch glass door way with views of Lake Kalamazoo out the walls of windows and the longest boardwalk on the Greta lakes. Great patio, excellent perch, but they won't sub sweet potato fries for the regular ones, even for an up charge? Seems overly rigid.

We visited the Butler when we were there for a weekend away. It was nice to get away and visit the different places in town. We opened Yelp to see different restaurants in the area (because we are basic Yelpers), and noticed The Butler. We decided to give it a try. We walked in and noticed there was patio seating and it overlooked water. We asked for that, although it over looks water, it is full of boats and couldn't actually see the water. The menu had lots of options but we wanted to try a couple of things that were recommended by the server. We tried to salmon BLT sandwich and cheeseburger. We also got several different drinks to try. The cheeseburger was juicy and made correctly. The salmon BLT was kind of bland and was missing something but I couldn't put my finger on it. The drinks were good. Atmosphere: The decor was nice and loved the outside patio. It was nice to be outside and enjoying the fresh air but also having lots of space to eat and enjoy the company. The server was nice. Cost: The burger was $12 and the Salmon BLT was $13 Overall: Loved the location, wished I could of saw more than boats but I am not going to knock the restaurant for that. They have no control over that. The drinks were good but the food was missing some flare or something. I will give this place 4 stars. read more

Waitress was fantastic, very attentive and didn't pressure us to leave even though we stayed past closing (we are so sorry, we lost track of time!!!!). Atmosphere was great! Mood lighting, wide open space, lots of happy people. This place is right on the water!!! Gorgeous views!!!!! Group friendly, lots of large round tables! Very LGBTQ community friendly! Food was good, nothing spectacular but not bad! At one point, it seemed that almost every table was waiting for food - not a good sign in a restaurant. It was around 2pm on a weekday, so there wasn't any particular reason why it might be backed up. We waited 30-40 mins for our food to be ready and heard other tables complain about the wait (so it wasn't just me). The kids meals provided a lot of food - especially the side salad. Our server Emma was incredible, we were being swarmed by bees and one of the girls with us has a bee allergy. Visited The Butler patio (upstairs bar) tonight with my parents, and it was the worst service any of us have ever received. The staff was incredibly rude, most notably, Colin. Definitely should not be working in the service industry. All of the parties around us at the bar were also very displeased, with him in particular. Completely understand waiting longer than usual for things when understaffed, but he went out of his way to be an asshole to his customers and ignore simple requests. We ordered an appetizer that didn't come with any plates or silverware, and when we politely asked for some, he literally just stared at us and then rolled his eyes before slowly walking to get them. Then proceeded to bring two, not three sets, when there were obviously three of us there. From here he continued to do petty things like that to make the situation worse. He ignored multiple parties asking more than once just to close out or ask for to go boxes. He also said "I don't have eyes in the back of my head" when simply just asking a question. Mind you, not one of the customers were rude to warrant this behavior, he had an attitude from the get-go. He clearly doesn't have eyes in the back of his head considering he doesn't even have eyes in the front of his head.. When we finally asked to close out, he had our card on file but didn't charge it, just gave us the bill, until finally we had to ask a different staff member to close us out. I have worked in the service industry myself, and it takes a lot to make me angry when it comes to service, because it's hard work. But I have never received such disrespect and rudeness from a person. I usually love going to the Butler, but hope I never run into Colin again. read more

Marina setting was amazing. We sat on the patio in the sunshine. Went for lunch and were seated right away. I had the Butler Burger. The meat was done well and it was quite delicious. Served with chips fries were extra. On the down side everything was served on plastic. Had a very picnic vibe. Was disappointed to see what our food came. I know we are on a patio but still would have liked real tableware. The service was very vanilla. Can't say she was bad but wasn't friendly either.
